My dad had an anaphylactic reaction to avelox. Twenty minutes after taking the medication he became flushed and itchy. His face swelled. My dad is a physician and knew that he was having a reaction to the drug but did not know how severe it was. He had a nurse administer a depo medrol shot when in fact it should have been epinepherine. He ended up turning blue and passing out several times until oxygen could be administered. These events took place in his office. When he was in this state of shock, his collegues gave him an EKG and evidence of heart ischemia was recorded. His blood pressure dropped drastically. He was rushed to a hospital where they gave him benedryl and steroids. Thankfully he has recovered without any tissue damage to his heart or brain. Even though he had this reaction, he still feels that avelox is a great drug and that his reaction although extremely life threatening is rare. 1 in 30,000 people will develop this adverse reaction to avelox.

I had a heart attack a little over 15months ago & am now on several different meds. For the past 10 months I have been coughing& I mean coughing, can hardly breathe. The cough wakes me up at night, I feel as though I am short of oxygen & have to tell myself to be calm, take a slow deep breath .I am starting to resemble a fish that is out of water. I have told my doctor on many occasions but to no avail. I have also put on 15 lbs on weight . I am too afraid to come off the Lisinopril as I don't want another heart attack. I can't afford another med as i am self pay & can't afford another expense.....I am trying to tell myself that i can live like this, but now the coughing is annoying my work collegues...Also having vivid dreams, am out of breath with any exertion, blah, blah, blah...Anybody got any ideas??? Or should I just stop the meds & die??? Sorry, that was a little dramatic, I am just very tired. Thanks for taking time to read this. Good luck to those of you in the same boat.

I took Advair about for 2 years. Hoping, that it would help to breath easier. I did not feel significant changes in my breathing. But I started coughing.Bedly. At work my collegues
kept bigger distance from me, they did not want to be infected
from me. They did not know, it was not contagious. I have sinus infection, dry mouth, respiratory problems, since I was
using Advair. Now, on my own, I stopped to take it. I had enough. Taking medicines for the side effect of the medicines. Maybe I never had asthma, only the doctors irresponsible decisions made me belive, I had it. I already suffered from the side effects of prednison. (joint surgery) The doctors used to give to me, in large dose. Now, after several years, I was told, maybe I never had asthma. How can we trust doctors?

took the drug for only 4 days and ended up with MAJOR hives. My doc said he's never seen this side effect before and even took pictures to share with his collegues. It did get rid of my sinus infection, but what a price to pay. I took prednisone to get rid of the hives and that did work, but I still have faint scars where the hives were bad. This was back in May of 08.
