Coming out symptoms and conditions

Okay Ladies! I haven't been on BC for 15 years because I didn't want to deal with the side effects or popping a pill, however this little ring I am not so sure of. My side effects are as follows and are due to the ring. I have been on it exactly 2 weeks and 1 day. I have had:

ACNE on the face!!! I have great skin....now I have small acne rashes from ear to ear-forehead to chin! Unbelievable- that start within the first week!
Constant Nausea (mild-not enough to vomit)
Dizziness
cramping
Lack of motivation (yes getting up at 415 to go workout sucks, but I do it and the past few days I haven't wanted to)
Tiredness
Appetite changes....food doesn't interest me.
Some sexual side effects...lack of libo.

I am a healthy 34 yr old sexually active woman- I love working out- there is not a reason I can think of other than this ring for these changes to have started.

Its coming out this afternoon....I should have just stayed off of it!

I am 48yrs of age- had the mirena coil fitted to help with menopause symptoms, had my 1st one fitted in 2003- have kept it for 5yrs and then had it replaced in jan 2008- well whats the problem then?? shortly after having my 1st mirena coil fitted i had a bit of a nervous breakdown and didn't put 2 and 2 together - that maybe some of my symptoms could have been connected to the coil.... i guess im just saying i plodded on with it- ( quite literally i gained almost 3 stone - since having my 1st coil fitted,. but alas blamed it all on my state of mind at the time...-?, any way in Jan 2008 i went along and had my old one out and a new one put in(all in the same day)i suffered a vaso vagal attack on the insertion of the new one- spasm of the cervix! and thought i was gunna die!- my mind is a bit clearer now and have had my 2nd mirena for 11months... and its coming out on Monday!!! I believe i have given this foreign body a fair crack at the whip !..almost 6yrs! if u want any advice- just didn't do it, (blurred vision, weight gain despite good diet exercise etc,oily skin ,loss of
concentration/memory, poor sleep pattern- night sweats etc and going out to work of a morning unsure sometimes even if ur dressed (dream state). p.s i am a nurse and kept it for so long because.... i was led to believe by ...nurse practitioners, doctors, reps, health care professionals that i was talking a load of crap... they didn't have 1 (or rather 2!) i did... get it out!

I've been on Toprol for many years due to the Synthroid medication makes my heart race and the Toprol slows it down. I've gone on the generic Toprol, the Metoprolol Tartrate and since I've gone on that, I've notice a lot of hair loss. I never dreamed this med would cause hair loss. Then I read that sheet that comes with the med and it said hair loss is one of the side effects. Has anyone else experienced this? My hair is coming out a lot and it's scary.

I have had the mirena out now since the 17th October, I had had it for about 2years.it was causing me mood swings, very bad acne, chest pains, insomnia, a weird feeling-sometimes painful-during sex, lowered sex drive, itchy skin, a weird tingling in my facial skin and very bad pre-menstral depression. Am now using condoms as my sole contraceptive(bit scary, but doing fine so far!).
So far my skin has improved alot-I thought it would take a lot longer, the spots haven't completely gone, but no new ones and it looks alot brighter. Also, mood swings are alot better, no pmt and no depression. The chest pains have gone and the tingling, havent had such horrible sleeps and sex drive is definately back!
If this thing is affecting you, then get it taken out! I feel like a new woman! I have not had another period yet, due in the next week. mmmm...I wonder what that will be like! Weird. Anyway, Im just pissed off I never had it taken out earlier an that I thought I had no other choice. It definately didn't agree with me. Do not listen to any docs/nurses who tell you it is 'only local hormones and will therefore not cause side-effects'! LIES!!! It tells you on the leaflet that it may cause these side effects. I dont know why they give you this contradictory info.

I thought I was crazy, it is still coming out of my system so maybe I am! I took singulair for 7 years, after doctors told me that Theo-dur was too old school.
I have gained over 50 pounds, bad skin, bruising,diziness,insomnia and horrible temper and panic.
Every time the Dr asks me how its going with singulair I say its fine.I think I put 2 and 2 together.
After waking up with palpitations,shaking and generally freaking out I have decided to stop.I think it is still lingering in my body and I really hope this week I will feel better and not so tired.

Hey...I got my mirena put in about 6 weeks ago..And so far im not happy with it.I have been bleeding ever since i got it,my cramps are much worse and the hair loss is inbelievable.I was taking a shower tonight and i pulled about 4 chunks of my hair.I seen on other pages that its slight hair loss.However thats not my case.Foe a second i was really worried thikning something wrongs with me then i read this site and see in not the only one.However my sex drive has increased but i do notice the dryness.I thought that i didnt want to hassle with taking a pill every morning but now that dont sound like a bad idea.I dont reccommend it.And if you want problem after problem...Be my guest and get it..youll regreat it...Tracy From AZ

I started using the NR four monhts ago. In the begining things were great but then it started coming out durring sex, not just every once in a while but all of the time. I started to gain wight, have constipation problems, and very bad headaches. I was still planning on continuing using the NR but then it was decided that we wanted to try to have a baby so I stoped using the NR about a month ago. Since I have stopped using the NR I have still not had a period. I have taken 2 test and both tests have come back negitive. I called the customer service number for the ring and they are saying that this is not a side effect of the NR. The headaches ave gotten somewhat better.

I switched to wellbutrin about 6 mo. ago and have noticed crazy hair lose... it is on my pillow in the morning, on the sofa after watching t.v., on the back of my shirt, and coming out by the handfulls when shampooing or brushing my hair. What use to be a full, thick head of hair... is now so thin I don't always brush my hair everyday (makes me sick to see all the hair). I talked to my dr. about it and she said it must be my blood sugar and that I needed to lose weight for it to go away.... um, yeah... eating low carb, walking, and still losing just as much hair... I am giving her a call today after reading that HAIR LOSS IS A SIDE EFFECT!

Ive been on toprol 25mg for almost a year. My hair started coming out. I get sharp chest pains. I thought I was being lazy with school work and all, but I realize that it was toprol doing this to me. It was fatigue. My cardiologist took me off of it and did not replace it with anything else. This sounds odd to say the least. I thought you had to be weened off of it.

I am a 32 yo Mother to 4 children. My ONLY purpose for taking Yasmin was to control the severity of my periods. After the fourth child my periods became so heavy, crampy and unbearable that I had to do something. I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year now and all I can say is had I known then what I know now...I wouldn've said to hell with that!!!

Mood Swings, I mean my god ladies, they are awful, my husband of 10 years never once called me a Bitch and now I hear it all the time it seems, the weight gain was off and on. My metabolisim slowed to a stop basicaly, my hair started to fall out of my head and found itself on my face. The sobbing for no reason (at a dog commercial ladies..a dog commercial) constantly being tired, then not being able to sleep when i knew I was exhausted.

My libido was non exsistant which caused termoil in my marriage for a period of time. There was nothing I could do. I felt so helpless. Out of control, sad, sick, and in general just BLAH!

Secondly the medication was supposed to help reduce the severity of my periods and make them shorter..HA HA HA HA HA!! That's the biggest joke. They are still the same now as they ever were. 8-9 days, filling a super pad within and hour and a half, having to wear both tampons and pads just to go out in public. I have had no pills for a week. I quit cold turkey so to speak and I have had spotting lots of spotting, headaches, and bloating associated with nausea. I am glad that I am off of the Yasmin pill and I'll never go on Yasmin again!

I would love to know of a lawsuit pending against them, so that I could be returned all the money I spent in copays, to feel worse than I did before I started taking it.

Zyprexa has ruined my life!!!!! I went in hospital in 2001 with what I would call mild delusions now compared to after being given zyprexa. As soon as this med was started I began to have extreme pressure on my back constricting my breathing, could barely get dressed look after myself walk from one end of a hall to another, began vomiting day in and day out and diagnosed with severe acid reflux, waking up night after night gasping for breath and finally diagnosed with sleep apnea - this is before I gained the 85lbs from this and other atypical drugs. Experienced sleep paralysis where I would wake and feel like I couldn't move my body, vivid nightmares, and symptoms of td with constant twitching of my body during sleep. These side effects continued for 5 long years. I still suffer from acid reflux, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis in my knees. This is a very dangerous drug. I wasn't on the drug very long but other's were tried with no avail to the side effects until I was switched to zoloft and risperdal. Now I am having high blood sugar results with at home testing. I am searching for people in Canada who have experienced any of these side effects as I am added to the Class Action Lawsuit that has been initiated here and hoping there are others who can add their names to the suit who have experienced similar side effects. After this was put in last summer (Jun 2006) I have literally been going downhill.....so many horrible side effects!...this thing is coming out !!!

I was prescribed Levaquin a couple of years ago and I thought that I was crazy. During the time I took the drug, I felt this horrible sensation in my leg as kind of like the feeling when your leg has fallen asleep and it's coming out. It was a horrible tingle that just persisted to the point where I thought I was going crazy. I had to call an ambulance becuase I couldn't take that intense feeling any longer, people were telling me that I was delusional but now I find out after reading on this site that it had to be the Levaquin. Recently I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection and I have the worse lower back pain I have ever experienced in my life. I couldn't figure out why I was having so much pain not only in my lower back but throughout my loints and now I realize that it was the drug. I will never usr levaquin again.

Does anyone else have problem with it coming out during sex? I know I have a short vaginal canal but its like every time sex gets a little rough, it comes out!

I had the Mirena IUD inserted in March 2006, 6 weeks after my first child was born. I had it removed on July 26, 2007. At first, I didn't notice any symptoms. I had spotting for a while and then just regular shortened periods after that. My first noticable symptom was that I was extremely fatigued. For the last 6 months I feel that I was living in a haze, very tired, and felt that I wasn't able to function. I felt like I was way older than 31. In fact, a few months ago I was so worried about what I was going to feel like when I was 80. I went to my PCP and she could not find a medical reason for my fatigue after doing extensive bloodwork, so she thought maybe I was depressed. I went to my therapist and she very quickly verified that I wasn't depressed, I'd been seeing her for a year already to work on family issues so she knew me very well. My joints ached and I also experienced arthritic like symptoms in my hands - I could not twist a bottle cap off or open a sealed jar at all. About 3 months ago I started to get chin acne, then it moved up the sides of my face around my hair line and then all over my forehead to the point where it was very painful to touch. I was terribly moody, snappy, and emotionally stressed out all the time. I feel that the last year and a half have been wasted and I wish I could go back and not have it inserted.

After removing the IUD, I had bad cramps and my period came 2 weeks early. Blood was heavy, dark, and clotty at first (alot) and now is just medium flow, but bleeding for almost a week now. I've also had lower back pain since it's removal.

i have been on nuva ring for 2 weeks.. i dont have any side effects, i like it alot.. im kinda worried though because i have been reading what these other women have been going through.. i guess eveyone is different right? but its only been 2 weeks.. i do get some what concerned about it coming out.. it dosent but my best friend was on it and she said it would always come out, during intercourse, while she would use the bathroom.. so im always checking if its still intact.. and it is.. so hopefully i wil get no side effects, and i will update everyone!! thanks..

I am posting again about nuvaring. I am taking it out tonight. I hate feeling so depressed and apathetic and like I can't get through anything anymore. This month has been the worst ever in that regard. I did bettter on Yasmin and will probably go back to that. I also have been feeling shorter of breath since taking this. I thought I was getting asthma possibly. Reading some of these posts at least helps me realize the ring could be causing this. I think I am just going to tell my doctor to put me back on Yasmin. Besides, I don't really trust these fancy new things they are coming out with these days.

I've been using the ring for a week and a half now. I am taking it out tomorrow. Since I started, the first couple days were without side effects, but now I am tired ALL the time, even after exercising, napping...I just want to sleep and sleep. I am also extremely and uncharacteristly moody. I feel as though I want to snap at people over the smallest things, and the tiniest irritations make me rage. This is not like me at all. I feel horrible, like there is a tick inside me making me twitch. I also have almost zero sex drive now. Just not interested. I dont care. I never felt like this before I started using the ring when I wasnt on any birth control. I had a feeling all these changes were due to the ring, and after reading everyone else's bullitins, I know my gut feeling was right about this damn ring. It's coming out tomorrow. Whats the point of birth control if you dont even want to have sex with your partner? I am finding another way of birth control that doesnt use hormones.

I haven't been on the pill for a few years, but when I used it last, I didn't experience any bad side effects. So going on NR seemed a good idea, and hey! only have to remember once a month. Three weeks later, here I've spent the day researching depression on the internet. Even on vacation, everything going well, I have been as moody, irritable, and blue as Eeyore. I've needed a nap every day and can't seem to get it in gear. Not to mention the worst acne since high school -- yuck. I guess it must have been God who pointed me to this website: it's coming out tonight! Don't want to be another "wasted 3 years" statistic!

Like several others, I truly believe God directed me to this website today. I have PCOS so w/o BC, I don't have a period. I thought it was just MY hormones being affected and my family suffering but after reading this - the ring is coming out and I'm calling my doctor!! I honestly feel like I am going cRaZy!! I feel like barbed wire is crawling under my skin and suddenly I have a million pet-peeves. Everything is making me either want to cry or go into a rage - there is NO happy medium. My hands and feet are swollen and achy - we seriously thought it was an early onset of arthritus! For the first time in weeks, these posts have made me feel normal. Please don't suffer needlessly, take the ring out and find another option. I know I am - I owe it to my husband and three boys!!

I don't see that many people have stated that NR has caused hair loss. Well it has cause hair loss for me. Naturally, I have thick hair so it isn't noticeable (yet). It's not like shedding, It's very long strands that are coming out when I comb my hair and it is alot. I've also notice that I have aches in my hands, legs, and feet. One day I was getting dress to go out, I was sticking my foot in my pump and my foot locked up on me. My toes shifted as if they were dislocated. It was nasty looking to the point that I turned my head, well I kept trying to wiggle it to get it back in place and it did. I also have bad headaches and eye twitching......Someone let me know of some other great (non-permanent) birth control.

I was on the ring for several years, and it was terrible!!!! Depression, no sex drive and hair loss. My husband thought I was nuts, but soon after I stopped using the ring I was a totally different person. I didn't think it was the birth control that made me angry and depressed, I thought it was just me until I went back on the ring about 2 months ago. And of course all of the symtoms came back, no sex drive, hair loss and depression. It is the worst birth control I have ever had in my life!!! This calls for a classaction lawsuit - I feel like I lost 3 years of my life and I am only 26!

iVE BEEN ON THE NR FOR 3 DAYS. THE FiRST NiGHT i CRiED MYSELF TO SLEEP AND THATS NOT LiKE ME....THE MORNiNG OF THE SECOND DAY i WAS SiCK AND i DiDNT KNOW WHY...BUT THANKS TO THiS SiGHT i KNOW....iVE BEEN FEELiNG WEiRD SiNCE PUTTiNG THE RiNG iN....AND ALL i WANT TO DO iS SiT AROUND AND CRY....iM GOiNG TO GiVE iT A WHiLE LONGER TO SEE iF THE SiDE EFFECTS WARE DOWN BUT iF NOT iTS COMiNG OUT!!!!!!!....THESE SiDE EFFECTS ARE REDiCULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

I had been on nuva ring fr a mere 2 weeks and I ended up being rushed to hospital with a 39.2 degree temperature.I also had other awful side effects- like sore joints- my legs were so sore-sore back- i couldnt walk properly on some days my legs felt so "heavy" i had the hot and cold shivers -also- a horrible daily clear discharge which i could actually "feel" coming out ......i took the nuva ring out and it still has left me with an infection.im not saying to other women to not use the nuva ring.just make sure you read the pamphlet properly and know what side effects to look for.
