I have read and heard, first hand, dozens of stories about Lipitor. It is clear why, too. When you cut off lipoproteins (commonly called "cholesterol"), you cut off the supply of essential fatty acids (EFAs) to the cell membranes of nerve cells, which use these EFAs for neurotransmission. Eventually the nerve cells degenerate and die, causing pain, stiffness, and loss of muscle control.

Typical: muscle pain, muscle weakness, swallowing problems, muscle cramps, numbness, spasms, muscle atrophy.

I am a physician and have prescribed levaquin to many people. I have had some of them complain of what they thought were serious and variable side effects but mostly I attributed their problems to anxiety and hypochondiasis. I now know differently. I took levaquin, and for over a year I have had serious CNS anxiety, insomnia, joint and tendon pain, and widespread peripheral neuropathy. It has been an awful time and since realizing that the effects are often long term I have been able to identify many other patients who have developed serious long term problems with anxiety, depression, arthropathy and tendonopathy, neuropathy and possibly endocrine effects like gonadal failure and worsening of diabetes. There are no long term studies done post marketing to identify these effects and to unify all of these problems into one syndrom of fluoroquinolone toxicity. This is a big problem and I believe thousands of patients have been adversely affected by the use and misuse of levaquin and probably the other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. I have other colleagues who are beginning to recognize the long term consequences of levaquin and the fluoroquinolones. More research and study needs to be done. In the mean time I am sure that Johnson and Johnson, Ortho- Mcneil, will continue to refute that the incidence of serious adverse reactions is much higher than they report.

Ive been on toprol 25mg for almost a year. My hair started coming out. I get sharp chest pains. I thought I was being lazy with school work and all, but I realize that it was toprol doing this to me. It was fatigue. My cardiologist took me off of it and did not replace it with anything else. This sounds odd to say the least. I thought you had to be weened off of it.

I've only been on singulair for 6 days and it is now 4:23am. I just couldn't sleep tonight. I've been having the strangest dreams and I commented to my wife about them. We just laughed it off. Anyway, at this time of the morning, my EARS are "Hissing" so loudly, not ringing, however I do detect a slight pulsating tonal sound in my left ear, that I just couldn't sleep anymore. I've a history of Tinnitus but something has exacerbated my tinnitus dramatically, so much so it is keeping me awake. I think I'll be needing something to help me sleep now. Perhaps I will stay off the Singulair for now just to see if life returns to some kind of normalcy. Could it be a side effect of Singulair. I don't know but I felt like driving something through my head to stop all the loud noise. Has anyone else experienced elevated levels, or a new development of "Ringing in the Ears", commonly known as Tinnitus?

I can't believe what I'm reading tonight on this page, I decided that today was the day I needed to check up on side effects of singulair, since my 5yro, needs his 3rd refill. Three weeks ago I took my boy to the doctor, because of severe weeknes, fatigue. irritability, lose of interest in studying, in sports, in home works, and lose of appetite one of my main concern, I ask his ped if maybe these could be side effects from his singulair, She said no way she hasn't heard of such effects from this drug, and that the side effects form singulair was realy mild, I took her word on it and continue my poor lillte boy in the hell he is living in, oh. she send him to the lab and draw blod for a series of exams, but find nothing so I continue my days wondering and suffering for my child, My mother-in-law even recomended counseling for my boy since we have a new baby at home, tonight I decided before getting his reffill why not do some research and find out what other people are saying? this is the first page i ran in to and I know that I dont need to read much more to take my boy off of this singulair.
ps. we can not rely on our doctors to talk bad of any drug.

UPDATE: Today is the second day that I haven't taken Singulair and I feel 100% better. I am no longer experiencing the panic attacks, hallucinations, shortness of breath, ear ringing, leg cramps, etc. I went to the doctor on the 23rd and he was reluctant to think that any of this was caused by taking Singulair. I am now convinced that it was, since I haven't felt any of the symptoms I was having for the last few months. I am going to a cardiologist on Aug 1st and will have to wear a heart monitor to "rule out" a heart condition. I also have to get my ears checked because my doctor thinks this could be an inner ear problem. I will go through with all of these check-ups just to make sure that I don't have any underlying medical issues. Seeing how quickly my symptoms have stopped after going off of Singulair makes me totally convinced that this is what was causing this in the first place. I am greatful that I found this site and read all of the comments from people having similar symptoms!

I suffer from the same symptoms as your daughter. I get ill in cycles starting right after my period for about 10 days.

My DR. suggested that I try going on a different BCP for a while to calm my body down. Then when it's time to stop, it should be much easier than getting off Yasmin which is pure poison and has interferred with our own hormone production system as well as other important functions such as thyroid production and digestion.

He recommend I try Desogen. Talk to your daughters DR. about that suggestion and see what he says. Also check her thyroid levels if you haven't already done so.

Our symptoms are so severe that herbs and natural remedies will not help. It will help a little but not too much...

I have never been sick for 28 years of my life until immediately after coming off of Yasmin. This is a lethal drug that needs to be avoided at all costs.

If she is trying anti depressents it will take about a month for any difference to be noticed if she does respond the particular anti depressent. If lexapro doesn't work, I would suggest fluoxetine as that is commonly prescribed for PMDD... which is similar to what we are suffering from.

After reading several posts by mothers that were given Reglan to facilitate letdown of breastmilk, I feel that I should warn you that from my research this drug is excreted in breastmilk. This means that not only are you at risk for all of these horrible side effects, so is your infant. Please seriously consider what that could mean long term. You should insist that your physician offer you a safer alternative. I am an RN and I never realized until I researched this very commonly prescribed medication how dangerous it could be, it is very possible your doctor dosent know either!

Help-my new doc strongly reccomends Lisnopril 5 mg. This is his spelling. I have Type 1 Diabetes and he says this drug is commonly taken by diabetics. I can find no association with Diabetes and this drug on the Internet. My BP was 140-82 when last tested. He didn't seem to be perscribing it for BP.
Is Lisnopril a different drug than Lisinopril?

I'm wondering if synthroid is the answer for hypothyroid? I mean, pretty much all our guts give out over time... How many people actually go into a coma and die from hypothyroidism? I took synthroid and had to get off it after just one week! I was slamming doors around here, screaming, out of control, miserable. I've talked to plenty of women at work who have lots of trouble controlling their dosage. I've read some other comments here: BEFORE I took synthroid, I had aching legs and feet, thickness in my throat, weakness, tiredness, can't concentrate. I only take a tranquilizer for eight years, same dosage, for anxiety. I'm thinking there HAS to be another way to treat hypothyroid. What if my kidneys are giving out and synthroid is overloading it, and THAT is the primary disease, with the hypo business secondary. I can see kidneys giving out, what with all the stuff we eat, yearly innoculations for flu, and so on. Anybody have any thoughts on (1) How many folks actually die from hypothyroidism via coma, and (2) Is hypo the primary condition, or is kidney primary, and (3) What is with my feet and legs hurting and aching all the time?!?! I have been taking 10mg Zocor for about 13 years. Have had some tingling in my toes, muscle weakness and joint soreness. It could be attributed to age rather than Zocor, but I don't really know. I just read about Coenzyme Q-10 and Zocor. It is commonly called CQ10 and is important to the process that produces 95% of the energy at the cellular level. Zocor and other statins depletes half of the CoQ10 that your body manufactures and can lead to muscle weakness and heart failure among other things. I just started taking CQ10 and have not had enough time to evaluate it on myself yet. It is sold off the shelf in any drug store. Look it up on the web for details and recommended dosages. I hope it works for me as well as you.
