I have been on seroquel since july 2006.I take 200 to sleep at night, although in times of stress I add 25mgs pills as needed, and I also take effexor xr 37.5 and 75.First, the good effects- the combo got rid of the crazy highs and deep dark despairs of the lows.It got rid of the compulsions, the anxiety, social phobias lessened, unbidden harming thoughts, and the ocd rituals, and delusions...So it has been a real lifesaver for me.Now, on to the side effects.
I have gone from size 12 to size 16. thats a lot! I know its the seroquel, cause and effect. I got a foot infection from trying on shoes at the outlet mall-(never again) although I have never ever had one before, and i am 55.Guess what- I am still getting flareups of infection 2 1/2 years later! And isnt that a diabetes sign? The rest of the side effects are somewhat helped by drinking water. The side pains, occasional digestive issues, dry mouth, snoring, nonexistant sex life, confusion, memory issues, and the need to consume, and consume, food, are all there.Ive been existing on samples of these meds, but samples are no longer available, and the cheapest price for my meds as above is just over $800 per month.I cant possibly pay for thisI would be happy to take something else that didnt have side effects, and cost less, but what?

I'm a 28 year old male, started Zoloft for anxiety, tension, panic attacks, and preoccupations/compulsions two months ago at 50mg a day.
Now I'm:
CONSTANTLY SLEEPY!!
Having vivid/intense/deeply involved dreams, often involving nearly forgotten people/places from a decade ago and sometimes violence (ie, getting shot and FEELING it..not waking up from it....)
Lacking a sex drive (or preoccupation with it) whereas before I was a sex fiend..but this is better than before when I needed it so bad I had risky behavior...
Having an out of control appetite and have turned into a couch potatoe...the bed has never felt so good.
A fat bastard. Used to be a competitive bodybuilder, now I'm wondering why people exert themselves working out.
But I am much less moodier now, thus more "lovey dovey" and in tune with my relationship. A GOOD THING vs. the past.
Going to decrease the dosage to 25mg mostly due to my lack of energy/sleepiness. Maybe seek a different med or even get off the Zombie Train Express alltogether.

I took Singulair for about two years. I had developed these now known to be side effects but at the time nobody including the FDA was either aware or honest about the aggression, agitation and other side effects. I assumed this was all due to stress in my life and since it came on so gradually I did not put 2 and 2 together that it was the medication. I lived for two years being an irritable stressed out pain in the you know what struggling with these major aggressive compulsions. Then I saw a story on the news that the FDA was issuing this new warning on Singulair about the aggressive, anxiety and suicidal side effects of this drug. I stopped taking it that day. Luckily my asthma had been fairly well under control, I noticed no increase in asthma symptoms. What I did notice was I stopped being irritable and constantly annoyed and angry within a few days. I am back to being a mellow person, no problems since I quit this drug. I am horrified they are giving this to children. Both doctors and pharmacists should be warning people UP FRONT of this risk.
