I was prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate last week and the first night I took it, I had a fever of 100.4. It went down quickly but I had no idea it was from the anti biotic. I thought it was from my miscarriage. Then, I began to get HORRIBLE bloating, like very painful and constipation. I also began to noticed throughout this 6 day period, that anytime I took Doxycycline, THAT'S when I would have these symptoms. I have come to the conclusion that this medication is causes my fever, bloating, constipation and depression. I have also experienced chest pains 2 nights, night sweats and ringing i the ear.

My daughter who just turned 6 has been on Singulair for about 3 years now. Her behavior has not always been the best, but with her past medical history ( a preemie) and all the things we have gone through some times its just easier to give in than to fight over it!!! So last week she was suffering with her allergies and asthma and the doctor added a Claritin to be taken once daily. I didn't really think to much about it and thought well if it is going to help her the OKay. That was on Wednesday and by the week end she was literally coming "unglued". She was lying on the floor when she should have been in her seat at the dinner table. When she was in her seat she was doing "back bends" over the chair. We finally come to the conclusion that it had to be the Claritin, I looked up the active ingredient loratadine and knew I had to get her off it immediately. So now I started to investigate the Singulair as well, which I should have done long ago. Today will be the last day she takes Singulair as well. She has complained of her stomach hurting for a long time and I always blamed it on constipation, but it could be the Singulair. I can only pray that she will not have any lasting side affects.

My 9 year old daughter got her first shot in Dec. 2008 and her second in Feb. and the last in June. We have have been to the doctor a lot of times due to headaches with the doctor's opinion being that it's "allergies". She is now on allergy shots with still no relief from the headaches. I listened to her pediatrician and got her the shots. I feel so bad now after reading all the problems others are having with this vaccine. She also has had a change in her attitude aggression, moodiness, cries often, and she says she's depressed. If anybody has any suggestions for us please let me know. I love my little girl and know I'm worried.

I came to the conclusion myself, luckily, that Yaz was causing my weight gain. After having back surgery in April and gaining not a pound while not working out, I have been on Yaz for four months and I literally have gained 10 pounds in the past three weeks, my boobs hurt like when I was pregnant and I have even been lactating a little! Ugh! Sex drive...gone. Headaches, lack of motivation, could sleep ALL day. I took Yasmin for years and years with no problem at all. I recommend against this method of BC if you aren't taking it for a specific condition. It's just not worth the hassle OR a new wardrobe! I'm almost 40 years old, have been working out since I was in my teens and have not weighed this much since I was pregnant. I know that the trainers in my gym think i'm some kind of closet eater or something! I'm working and working and getting fatter!
The symptoms all are things I experienced while pregnant with my son - 18 years ago! If I wanted to feel preggers, I'd get preggers! My new husband probably thinks I'm letting myself go now that I'm married. Luckily he's very sweet and understanding. It was his idea to change my BC back. Call you doctor. Now!

Hi, I'm a 35 year old, who is now on day 4 without the Mirena. I woke up on Monday morning with what I believe to be the dreaded "Mirena rash". I called my OB immediately and requested it be removed, much to my dismay, he was very rude about my suggesting that I was having these problems because of a silly little IUD. I told him that a friend of mine had led me to this website and he basically told me not to believe everything I read, even after I explained to him that thousands of women, experiencing the same side effects, with only one common denominator could not be wrong. He sarcastically said that he hoped removing my "little" Mirena would solve all of the worlds problems.
So, in response to my complaint about this rash, he prescribed me Hydroxyzine which is an antihistamine. I take it religiously 4x a day. Mind you this was Monday, yesterday I ended up in the ER because I just couldn't stand the itch, and it was spreading. They put me on Prednisone, and still no relief.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? This thing is like the plague. I work in a hospital and cannot go in looking the way I do with this rash all over my face and neck... If anyone has successfully treated this, please email me...******
Thank you ! F.

There is a class action lawsuit for anyone that took Yaz/Yasmin birth control. I just saw the commercial the other day from an attorney in Denver and it's nationwide. Please call Nolan Law Group - Valerie Romo at 888-630-9340. They are handling it nationwide.

at the most minor--occasional nausea and heat flashes for me
reading all these postings scared the hell out of me at first...
As I did, later on, all these people should heed their dermatologists' and doctors' opinion and advice before this website's and others' posts and personal comments (not to defile this respectable website), because they dance around various circumstantialities (percentages and likelyhoods, drug interactions with others, etc, etc). Whether they are of coincidence or not, I believe these people scroll through these posts and feel amazed that they aren't alone in terms of side effects and experiences regarding different drugs that other people have had too...
In conclusion--whether this makes sense or not--these comments and threads gather people together to, analytically speaking of course, scapegoat a placebo for any or all various "common side-effects"

Ok, I have to say I'm glad i did my research first and came across this site! Just yesterday i met with my gyn to discuss Mirena/IUD's. I'm in a monogamous relationship and not looking to have children right now. Condoms are a pain and I don't want any more hormones in my body so, no Pill for me. I'm not a candidate for Paraguard because I haven't had any children (FDA hasn't approved that one for women who haven't, only women who have had children). He kept pushing Mirena (I'm sure there are some motivation$ for him behind that too). I'm hesitant to put any more hormones in my body than i already have and all these posts I've read are exactly the reason why. I already suffer from depression (being treated with meds) and IBS (w/constipation). I also just lost about 25lbs recently that was bc related weight. There is NO WAY I'm willing to deal with weight gain again! MISERABLE! I can imagine how all you ladies feel and i know it's not good. All these bad side-effects far outweigh the benefits if you ask me. I've reached my conclusion: I'm not doing this to myself, I'd rather use pain-in-the-ass condoms than deal with hormonal bs. Thanks to all who posted!

My side effects are now going to be posted. severe to absolute mind boggling head aches, so bad couldn't even function. Burning eyes, depression. Racing heart, Panic attacks, insomnia. Burning skin especially on face around eyes, and i was given this awful drug, for my eyes. tired all the time. emotional to no end , and then again those constant headaches. I was given this nasty med to take for 2-3 months. Whatever. After finding this site, and coming to the conclusion that this deadly med has to be causing me so many problems, i am done and thinking about suing the drug company , that approved this. Please e-mail me at ****** I will give you ant information I get from all this. oh yes, lots more side effects, but we will start here.

I have been bleeding and in pain ever since. i have come to the conclusion women don't get pregnant with this because they bleed and hurt to bad all the time. Ok so...I started taking Loestrin 24 almost a year ago and I can't really complain too much. I've had a few pregnancy scares because of missed periods but they were just that- missed periods. And there's nothing wrong missing a period or two imo :D
About two weeks ago I ran out and couldn't refill so I neglected to take any pills for a week, figuring I would just pick back up when I could. I've since started taking them regularly again but in those two weeks my personality changed sooo much. In an attempt to describe myself I'd say I was...confused and depressed, for no real reason. My stomach was so messed up I don't even want to share the details. And the strangest thing... I've noticed two VERY SMALL spots (one on my upper thigh and one on my butt) that are slightly red and drier than the skin around it. I'm positive it's not an STD but I'm concerned nonetheless.
In conclusion, I'm gonna take my pills regularly from now on.
But seriously if anyone else has gotten weird small spots of dry skin, plz respond cause it's definitely worrying me a little.

I cannot believe that all these symptoms come from the Mirena. Does any one know how this can come about? My doctor insists none of my has noting to do with the Mirena!! and my physician doctor don't state anything about it being negative!!! Since the day after I had it put it i had hip swelling and it finally went away, but then would come back. I have my Mirena put in a year ago and still had periods, and it seems like I had some symptoms and then when I had my period they would go away for awhile. The last 2 months I have not had a period and it seem like my body is all out of whack!!!! This swelling or fluid is on my hip, and goes to my groin area and with awful back pain. This is the longest I have had this. I have had an aura migraine last month, I've noticed that i get headaches, my eyes are sensitive to light, my eyes get blurry easy, i'm tired, depressed, anxious , weak. and I feel like I have vertigo all the time!!! it's really getting worse also. My conclusion is that this is an foreign object in our bodies and we are suppose to have menstrual periods and this is stopping that therefore the body is reacting to these side effects because we have stopped something that is suppose to be a natural thing. Our menstrual!!! Let me know what you think? I have been going crazy only feeling good maybe 7 hours out of a 7 day full week!!!!
I have been to the doctor about my problems and they just keep treating me for a pinch nerve and fluid in my ears!!!

Well I wrote yesterday and told my story about the Mirena I called my doctors office this morning and made an apt to have it taken out they asked me what kind of insurance I have and I told them medicaid they told me since I had that she would have to ask the doctor that put it in because if you have medicaid they like for you to keep it in for a few years to get your money worth. I asked even with me with me having all these symptoms she said yea when I told her I have been bleeding for a week and a half now she said your probably just having a miscarriage (like it was nothing) I was so pissed off. So she called me back after she talked to my doctor and told me she wanted to see me for a physical in the morn I asked if she can take it out tomorrow and she said it depends so we will see.. im going to tell her if she don't want to take it out I will (don't really want to do that) I'll post again tomorrow after my apt.

About two weeks about I was running a fever and had a horrible cough. After my temperature hit 103f I decided to go to the ER. The doctor told me I have a sinus infection. There they didn't really have much interest in what was wrong with me and decided that a Z-Pak would magically solve all my problems. So the first couple days my fever stopped, I felt a little better. Soon after that I had the WORST stomach pains I've ever had before. They brought me to tears, not to mention the diarrhea was pure water with little fecal matter.. I felt better with a high temperature than going through the side effects of Z-Pak. I also had dime sized amounts of brown colored phlegm that appeared when I coughed. I couldn't taste anything. For 6 straight days I was stuck to the couch or bed. Every time I stood up I got the drunken spins and felt like I was going to black out. It's been about 8 days since I started the Z-Pak and the cough has virtually went away. I still spit up a tiny amount of phelgm. I can eat, which I am ecstatic about since the only liquid things I drank while taking the anti biotic gave me severe diarrhea. The only symptom I have now is diarrhea. Only at least now I don't have to 'go' every 5 minutes or whenever I put anything in my stomach. I think the worst part of being sick was taking the dreaded ZPAK. Everyday I was thinking I could feel well enough to go out and do something only to have to race home to lay down.
CONCLUSION-ZPAK TWO THUMBS DOWN!

This is my second time writing in. I wrote about symptoms in Feb. and now have MORE to add. I have had Mirena in for a year and a half and things are starting to add up! I still get a period though it is a little lighter than before. I am still spotting (even after all this time and there is no knowing when this will happen), heart burn, hair loss, heart palpitations (even have gone in to ER and had test run with no conclusion except I need more sleep and less stress - ha - been a mom for 9 years and haven't slept forever, why would this happen only now?) dizziness, back pain, constipation, bloating (my stomach will not go back to pre pregnancy size), gas, fatigue. My doctor says no way related! More needs to be done to make women aware of these side effects! Especially when they tell you before that there are no side effects!!!

i grew up with many differently bladder problems. and almost every time when i was younger i was given bactrim for a uti or kidney infection. well eventually i was put on this medication so much i became immune to it so they stopped giving it to me for like ten years to see if i could continue using it. since that ten years has passed every time i now take bactrim i have a very strange side effect that i have never in a million years experienced before. after bactrim is in my system for about 24hrs i develop a rash. i know what your thinking normal but no not really. this rash like "burn" only shows up in my pubic area on the right side toward the top of where my pubic hair grows. and it itches like crazy. but whenever i go to itch it then it burns so badly it brings tears to my eyes it hurts. this "mark" only shows up in that spot. they have finally come to the conclusion that i am allergic to sulfa drugs. but even with that being said why doesn't the rash spread any where else. it is kinda embarrassing that it only shows up in that spot. now i'm concerned the ob-gyn wants me to get the gardasil injections and i was reading the ingredients in the vaccine and it contains hydroxyphosphate sulfate which i am concerned may be a sulfa drug which means i might not be able to have that vaccine.

I have been on Singulair longer than I can recall... at least 10 years, maybe longer. My 7 year old son has been on it since he was probably 12 months old. Neither one of us have had any problem reported here. No depression, no sleeplessness (until I weaned him from naps, he slept up to 13 hours a day), no leg cramps, nothing. We are two of the happiest, most well adjusted people you could know. And, best of all, we haven't had any asthma attacks. Bottom line, different drugs react differently in different people. Don't let the post here stop you from trying a medication that for some could mean the difference between life and death depending on how asthmatic they are. As with any drug recommended by your doctor, try it. If you experience adverse reactions, stop it ASAP. It's that simple.

After not being on birth control for about 13 years due to previous complications, I decided to go on YAZ since theyre were SO many rave reviews. it was to clear up my skin, lessen my periods and make my chest a bit bigger... also to not get pregnant ;) after being on it for 7 months i FINALLY realized all the harm it was doin to my body. the reason why i started to look for answers was because i had ZERO sex drive which has *never* been the case for any reason. i found that it can be a side effect of the pill but when i started looking at other side effects of YAZ i just kept nodding my head and saying "so THATS why i my vision is getting worse... so THATS why im completely depressed all the time and don't want to go out like i use to... so THATS why im having horrible leg cramps at night and awful joint pain... so THATS why my period is heavier, longer and more painful... so THATS why i started getting horrendous MIGRAINES out of no where!!!" i would lie in bed all day, instead of doing my every day routines, i stopped talking to my friends, didn't want my bf near me and couldn't go to work when i had my period because the bleeding was uncontrollable. after being off of it for three days, my sex drive was back, i wanted to go out with my friends again and most of the joint pain stopped. i made the foolish choice to "wait it out and see what happens" but my doctor told me to stop taking them immediately when i told him of my symptoms. It took me far too long to come to this conclusion and if you are suffering from multiple side effects, just stop taking it as soon as possible and go from there. There is NO reason to have to live like this from a birth control pill. i made that mistake and hope others wont in the future.

Have any of you suffered from really bad constipation whilst on Yasmin ???. Im at home now and i look five months pregnant. I keep taking senna tablets but it just isnt working. I eat really healthily drink loads of water. The only thing i can put it down to is Yasmin but im not sure if its just me if noone else has had it on Yasmin. Also have the following:
*melasma on top lip that looks like a moustache.
*cant stop eating constantly.
*really dry mouth, constantly thirsty.
*anxiety.
*feel down on myself
I can only take Dianette as a alternative but put weight on easily on it so im not sure what to do. Did any of you end up putting weight on on Yasmin after the first six months? . I don't know what to do.
Please could you let me know if you had constipation on Yasmin so i now if it is the Yasmin or not. My doctor knows but didn't seem too concerned.

Hey everyone my name is Samantha...Honestly my doctor has tried me on several different birth controls and none of then ever worked out for me i always sorta had the migraines and spotting. But ive been on Loestrin now for about 5 months and my life has been a living hell! I seem to have gained about 15 lbs since i started... i only got my period 1 time and it only lasted for about half a day. I find myself eating more and i am extremely depressed and have had horrible mood swings. I fight with everyone who comes in my path. I hate the person ive become and so dose everyone else. My Family doctor tried me on a few different antidepressants and none worked. So I came to the conclusion that am going to have to change my GYN to some one who will actually listen to me and get off the horrible drug! I think they should remove it off the market!

I've had this vaginal itch with dryness that we (my gynecologist and I) misdiagnosed for yeast infection. The itch lasted for 5 months and WILL not go away with treatments. We also thought I was allergic to something or maybe I'm exhibiting symptoms of early diabetes. As a blessing in disguise, my new insurance does not cover Loestrin 24 Fe so I had to switch to another type of contraceptive. 2 days into my new pill, the itch that drove me crazy for so long went away. Conclusion? It does not take a genius to figure this one out.

I just had it put in on Feb. 27, 2009 and it hurt like hell. If i really knew how bad it was going to hurt I never would've done it, never. Now I just dread the day it has to come out. I had some bleeding not much and cramps and lower back pain. It also seems I'm swollen inside and I don't feel any strings. Has anyone else had these experiences?

I am 29 and have started taking bc for the first time in about 6 years. I have never taken Loestrin 24Fe before, but I told my doctor that I always took a low dose bc in the past and I was prescribed with this. I am on my fourth week of the pill and I have been bleeding the last two weeks. For the last two days the bleeding and cramping has been intense and I am passing huge blood clots all day. I am bloated all day and constantly hungry! I have become very sensitive to smell and feel nauseous on and off throughout the day. I came to the conclusion that I am going to stop taking this pill.....I cannot wait it out any longer. I have always had horrible menstrual cramps, but the heavy bleeding and cramping for the last two weeks has made me realize that this is not for me.
