My daughter has moderate asthma with occasional severe attacks. She's been on Singulair since she was 13; she is now 24. It has definitely helped her asthma a great deal, but now, when she misses a dose, or in the most recent event, she missed several days, she becomes allot more tight and has more difficulties sooner than it was like before she got on singulair at age 13. She is back on it now after being off for 5 days and is getting some relief. I wonder if her body has become dependent on it, or so accustomed to it that she now has to have it. A doctor a few years ago, said that means her asthma has gotten worse, but I suspect the dependency factor rather than her getting worse. Anyone have that experience?/

started Zpak last week for a lingering sinus infection. I live in an area where the weather changes constantly. Two days after I finished the 5day Zpak I began experiencing horrible and flu-like symptoms and worse. I can hardly breathe out of my nose. Heavy chest congestion. Lots of diarrhea and even blood in the stool one day. Taste buds are gone. Here I am a week after finishing the Zpak feeling HORRIBLE. I'm afraid to go back to the doctor (uninsured) only to be prescribed something else that might bring on more side effects. Right now I'm taking Sudafed PE and hoping that kicks it. I've been on a Zpak before but NEVER had side effects like this. I don't wish this on anyone. and I'm wondering how long the Zpak stays in your system? It is possible to make you sicker? Seems so in my case and many others here.

My 14 year old daughter takes Lisinopril. She has a heart disease. I believe it helps her with blood pressure. I just found this site and just started to read into this medicine. My daughter has the constant cough which I never related to this medicine before now. She has a lot of signs of depression, not sure if that's due to this medicine (as some have said) or her age. Anyone know a young teen on this medicine?

I've had all these same symptoms at one point during the two years I've been taking Advair. I've had exercise induced asthma since I was 18 but I can still work out at age 38 regularly with the help of Albuterol/Proventil. I stopped taking Advair after I completed my last disk in Sept, 08. It all makes sense now after the fact from reading here. Firstly, I cant tell you how severe the muscle cramps were. No words can describe upper body cramping in every muscle that I endured for weeks (it felt like knives all over)!!! The same happened with my legs...the muscles became so tight they contorted! My Dr. gave me an m.r.i. took x-rays and several blood tests...even gave me an h.i.v. test because he had no idea what would cause all these symptoms. He said it was "complicated". The test results found nothing. All lof my symptoms are gone now that I've stopped taking it (mouth sores, bleeding gums, strange skin lumps, hair loss, dry eyes, swollen tongue feeling, lump in throat feeling, severe cramping all over my body for 3 weeks). The Dr. noted that I had gained 10lbs since my last visit. I told him, "I've barely been able to MOVE with this cramping much less exercise with my regular weekly routine!" "It even hurts to breath deeply!" I still have a dry cough that hasn't gone away and normally I clear up after the seasonal rag weed season is over. We have had two hard frosts already...that usually clears my allergies.

I am so thankful for this site. I thought maybe it was just me. For one, I am allergic to Sulfa. My doctor knows this, as does my pharmacy. Still, they give me Lisinopril with Hydrochlorothiazide which you should NOT take if you have a sulfa allergy. From day one, I started with anxiety, agitation, nausea and what felt like a racing heart - though my pulse was normal. Day three I called the doctor and they said this was normal as my body "adjusted" to the medication. It has been over two weeks and the same thing keeps happening. I tried taking the meds at night to hopefully sleep through the side effects but no - it just kept me awake. I put another call in today and have yet to receive a return call from my doctor. I hope the doctor calls me and NOT the front desk girl because I have a lot of questions and concerns. Other symptoms I have been experiencing since I started Lisinopril are sever muscle cramping last for over 24 hours, dizziness, heavy chest/racing heart beat, restlessness and less frequent urination. For a 37 yo female who has to "potty" constantly, even throughout the night, going once in an 8+ hour period is not normal! The worst side effect though is definitely the anger and agitation. I feel like I am going to burst out of my skin or die banging my head against the wall. Last night I tossed and turned for 2 hours in agitation. I thought I would surely have a heart attack from the stress. Oh yeah my BP has NOT dropped at all (tho it fluctuates on or off the meds) on the 20 mg dose. Go figure.

You people are freaking me out. I just started today with my first dose of prednisone for my first bronchitis diagnosis. I've been sick for 3 months and thought this would be a good med for me to rid the coughing. I'm starting to reconsider taking any more if all I can expect is long term adverse effects. I took this once before years ago for a severe skin allergy. I got the psychosis initially but then adjusted the dose. Then, I would get euphoric and full of energy, like being on a stimulant. I had no idea the round face thing was due to this, I thought I just ate too much while I was home sick for 2 months. I think I'll try the herbal alternative route. If it works, I'll write again and let y'all know. Thanks for all the comments.

I began taking Lisinopril last week. First the lightheaded and dizziness arrived. Called doctor was told to take at night to lessen this. Now I am nauseous and have a strange taste in mouth and the tip of my tongue feels like I scalded it with hot liquid. Calling Doctor to find out when she can see me again.

I have taken 100/50 Advair off and on for several years and hadn't noticed any problems. Three weeks ago I was switched to 250/50 strength Advair following a bad cold which I believe had become bronchitis but my NEW doctor believed was an asthma attack. I don't have asthma "attacks". I just have asthma which is always under control except for when I am exposed to smoke. Even then it isn't that bad. I just use a puff or two on my inhaler and I am good to go. So, I don't think I even needed to be put on the 250/50 strength! Right away, even with careful rinsing, I started to develop a sore throat. I had a constant cough, had to constantly clear my throat to try to speak and it hurt to talk. Within two weeks, besides the throat and congestion problems, I felt miserable as if I had a severe case of influenza: major headache, sinus and teeth pain, joint pains, severe fatigue, chills, burning eyes and blurry vision. I also developed an itchy red rash on my buttock and felt as though I was beginning to get a UTI. Because I felt so lousy, I told myself I didn't have to take the Advair which I knew would just make my throat feel worse. So, I went a whole weekend without the Advair and I started to feel better. Then on Monday morning, I took the Advair (which immediately made my throat hurt) and later went to see the new doctor in the afternoon. (We didn't discuss Advair because I hadn't made the connection and, obviously, he didn't either.) The doctor said I was negative for a UTI and thought my rash was cellulitis. He prescribed an oral antibiotic. I haven't taken any Advair since Monday a.m. because I read about its side effects on the Internet on Monday evening. My throat feels better. It is so good not to be constantly coughing and clearing my throat! The rash didn't respond to the antibiotic, but it did respond to the anti-yeast infection skin cream I decided to use on it. Unfortunately, the antibiotics DID give me a vaginal yeast infection and now I am also treating that! I am wondering if there is a connection between my skin yeast infection and the 250/50 Advair or if Advair just causes thrush (a mouth yeast infection)? Also, my eyes still burn and I still get blurry vision. Could I have a yeast infection in my eyes? I'm wondering because I have read on the Internet that steroids--just like antibiotics--can cause yeast infections. If so, then maybe thrush is not the only type of yeast infection that 250/50 Advair could cause?

My son is 3 1/2 and began taking singular when he was 2 for management of a constant cough related to asthma. We witness mood changes in him thought out the day. He will say, "mom I'm just having a sad day," and cry for no reason at one moment and then twenty minutes later be laughing with his sister. "Sad" days seem to happen more frequently since being on singular and the change back is quick. I am at a loss whether to attribute this to his medication or to typical three year old behavior. I plan to take him off the medication for a trial period to see what affect it has on his mood.

45 year old female - 10mg per day taken at night for kidney protection. CONSTANT cough to the point I sometimes gag and get a pounding headache. Sinus drainage, leg cramps at night, itching red skin, can't sleep at night, very irritable. I actually thought I had a bad cold for the last 3 months with some allergies kicking in - BS - it is the Lisinopril - I know that now after reading hundreds of people saying the same thing...I e-mailed my doctor today and told her I want off this horrible drug!

Glad to find this site. My BP has always been high, but due to stress it has been 170/110 on Inderal 40mg, 3 times a day. My doctor put me on Lisinopril 10mg, my BP was same. He increased it to 20mg, and am having numbness and tingling in arms with nausea and dizziness. My BP is still the same...He increased it to 40mg., I am flushing it down the toilet after reading the comments. My mom was on it for years and finally realized the constant cough and uncontrolled hypertension, which lead to a pacemaker, was due to the Lisinopril.

So after I realized it could be this pill I stopped it.. I moved out of state from my dr... and not ins. yet.. however I watch my bp and when it got alittle higher I thought I will take 1/2 one.. which takes BP down to normal, but after doing this here and there.. that same feeling in my heart started..
Has anyone experienced this feeling?? I don't seem to have the other side effects Thank God.. but this one scares me as I don't see anyone mentioning this feeilng..

I HAVE BEEN ON ADVAIR FOR 5 YEARS STRAIGHT. I HAVE HAD ASTHMA SINCE I WAS 17, DURING THESE 5 YEARS OF USING ADVAIR I HAVE GAINED 65 LBS AND HAVE HAD CHRONIC BRONCHITIS AND CONSTANT PHLEGM THAT NEVER GOES AWAY. I HAVE WHAT THEY CALL A "MOON FACE" AND ALL THE WEIGHT I HAVE GAINED IS AROUND THE MID SECTION. I AM ALWAYS TIRED, SO TIRED I CAN'T EVEN PLAY WITH MY CHILDREN. THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW! I AM ADVAIR FREE STARTING TODAY. I TRULEY BELIEVE IT HAS MADE MY ASTHMA WORSE THAN EVER, I HAVE A CONSTANT COUGH AND THE PHLEGM IS ALWAYS THERE NO MATTER WHAT I TAKE FOR IT AND BELIEVE ME, I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TRYING TO RULE OUT THE ADVAIR AS BEING THE CAUSE OF MY SIDE AFFECTS. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY PULMONOLOGIST SAYS ABOUT IT BEING TOO LOW OF A STEROID TO CAUSE ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS. I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT IT IS THE ADVAIR. IF YOU USE ADVAIR NOW, MY ADVISE TO YOU IS TO GET OFF OF IT A.S.A.P. BEST OF LUCK.

Started 10 mg three months ago and cannot tolerate constant cough and runny nose. It lowerd my BP almost too much. Take the drug in the morning and measure BP four times throughout the day. 110/80, 80/60, 75/60. I travel by air once a week. If I'm not careful after a long flight I almost blackout when I stand up. Need to find an alternative.

Constant cough with dry mouth, have phlegm that is difficult to bring up. I have Peripheral Neuropathy in both legs & treat it with Gabapentin, which gives me some relief, while taking Lisinopril, the Gabapebtin doesn't help me. When I stop Lisinopril, the Gabapentin works fine. I lose sleep & never feel rested when I take Linispopri. I also take Atenolol 25mg, Imdur 60mg, Gabapentin 300mg, 3 times daily,Simvistatin 40mg & Tricor 160mg tabs 1 time daily. I am a 75 yr old white male, retired since 7/93. I belong to a fitness center, & work out (treadmill, weights, etc) since the day I retired. I had a silent heart attack sometime before 1990. Heart Cath showed RCA 90% blocked, LCA 60% blocked.Collateral vessels keep me going.

Hi I have expierienced Post traumatic depression for the first time almost a year ago. I ended up in hospital and progressively got better. I am now on Wellbutrin, azor and molipaxin. My psychiatrist also traced that I was suffering from panic disorders from childhood and now when i think of it there were many instances i can relate to as a panic attack. However it is 8 months since I am on medication and
4 months on Wellbutrin, I am fine except there are times my heart feels racy, i have a constant cough, and loss of weight. is this normal and how long must I take this medication?

Hi! I am so happy that I found this website. I was on Advair 500 for over a year and had almost every side effect listed here. After reading the postings, I went to the doctor and demanded that he put me on another asthma medicine. He put me on Asmanex and I've been feeling absolutely wonderful for the past 3 months. Coming off the Advair was scary for me. I had tingling lips, fingers, and skin on my back for almost a week. I also had to use my albuterol every 4 hours during the same week. But other than that my list of symptoms quickly disappeared. Since then, I've only had to use my albuterol a handful of times, mainly on a humid day or when working in my basement or brushing my dogs. I had experienced so many side effects while on Advair that I started to feel depressed. When I asked my doctor's about the side effects, they told me that they weren't from my medications. Advair had caused me to have a constant cough, numerous episodes of bronchitis, hoarseness almost one week every month, severe asthma attacks, constant thrush and other throat infections. I also had my blood pressure up 20-30 points on average, which caused me to constantly feel anxious. I was extremely moody and snapped at my kids and husband very easily. I had trouble sleeping and night sweats. Since I couldn't sleep I was constantly tired. One of the worse effects was joint pain and muscle cramps. My hands and feet would cramp up like I had severe arthritis. Sometimes I cramped so bad that couldn't hold a fork or toothbrush. My legs would cramp so badly it would make me cry. My back ached and I got severe stomach cramps. I had horrible menstrual cycles which lasted for over a week. My elbows hurt so bad that I couldn't carry a bag through the mall. I also lost all interest in sexual relations. I also had jitters. My hands would tremble even when I wasn't holding anything. I also lost my appetite. Food didn't taste or smell the same so it didn't appeal to me. I had to force myself to eat. To say the least, I felt like I was falling apart. Within a few days of going off of the Advair I felt like a new person. I was pleasant to be around and had hope for the future. I am feeling great. My husband and kids are so happy to have the real me back. I strongly encourage everyone to try Asmanex and go off Advair. It's really made a difference in my life.

I have had a constant cough since beginning lisinopril in 1994. I have complained to my doctor who just shrugs his shoulders and ignores my complaint. I recently have started having problems with swelling in just one foot and have been to several doctors who have made absolutely no diagnosis. I think it is the lisinopril........has anyone else had problems in swelling since beginning lisinopril?

I have been onLisinopril for about 2 months(5mil). I have developed a constant cough, & a deep pain on one side of my leg, from upper thigh on down that does not go away. I have headaches once a month anyway, but have noticed I now have more often & longer. My docotr said it is not fom the medication, which is the only thing I am doing differently these last 2 months; so, I have decided to quit the pill for a month, since my BP is so low, & see if the symptoms go away.

My wife has mild asthma, but with a history of chronic bronchial problems: whenever she has a "cold" the accompanying cough goes on for weeks, and she is unable to bring up her secretions.
For several months she has taken Singulair on a daily basis, as prescribed by her allergist. This, along with occasional Alupent, has kept her asthma in check.
But with the current viral URI, her throat has been "tight" and sore for a period much longer than one might expect, and her cough has gone on for three weeks. There doesn't seem to be a bacterial component here, which would indicate using an antibiotic; it is mostly the irritation of her throat, and the constant cough that's a problem.
Anyone else using Singulair have this happening? The side effects given on the stuffer are so broad that they're difficult to interpret.

I started taking Lisinipril to lower my blood pressure about a month ago. since the beginning I felt sleepy, lack of energy, and soon started an almost constant cough and really horrible pain in my left hip/leg.
I had not found this forum at that time, but I did some research using the numerous medical books online. I came across two different pages about coughing and pain in the hip, both of them pointing independently to the same culprit: bradykinin, which happens to be a vasodilator. That is the way Lisinopril acts, lowering BP by dilating blood vessels. I have stopped taking it, and hope the damage to my leg is not permanent. It is really a dangerous drug and should be withdrawn immediately from the market.

For the past 2 months, I have developed a tickle in my throat resulting in an almost constant cough. Until I read some of the side effects of lisinopril on your site, I never connected the cough with the lisinopril. Now that I see many taking lisinopril, with the cough side effect, I am ceasing to take lisinopril.
