I took rispedal very small dosage 0,5mg per day, for anxiety along with Effexor XR 75mg. I took the risperdal for 2 months. I am still on Effexor. During the 2 months on Risperdal I had extreme HUGER, constant THIRST. This is a sign of blood sugar problems. I read Risperdal can lead to diabetes? I went off it, needless to say. This drug is usually prescribed for Schizophrenia in higher doses (8-16 mg per day I think). It shouldn't be taken for long periods of time for other purposes (for schiz. I am not sure).
Be careful with off-label prescriptions!

hi charity,
murph70 is quite right when she says that out bodies change after we have children. i was on dianette on and off for about 10 years and never had a problem with it, then i had my daughter (my youngest...now 3 ) i breast fead her for a year exclusively so did not have a period for the whole year, when my periods came back they were quite heavy and i also had outbreaks of acne when my period was due. my doctor put me on the new wonder pill yasmin! well he was right about it being a wonder pill,i started taking it and "wondered" what the hell had happened to me,within 6 months i was an agoraphobic nervous suicidal wreck,i had no sex drive at all and actually thought about telling my husband to go out and find another woman because i never wanted to have sex again! i felt constantly tired,i had tingles, aches, pains, blurred vision, constant thirst, raging headaches...the list goes on. my doctor diagnosed me with an anxiety disorder and gave me diazepam (which made me worse) when i asked if it could be my bcp he said no he didn't think so...but i know so because i found this site, found hundreds of wonderful women all with the same problems all taking this same pill, i stopped taking it 7 months ago now and while i am not back to my old self quite yet i am well on the way. Most of my symptoms have gone now so i think that is proof in itself. As murph70 says only you know how you feel, maybe you could try alternative methods of birth control for a while and see if you feel better? whatever you decide to do i wish you all the best.

Just a quick update about my husbands law suit with doctor who gave him 6 shots of kenalog for gout in his feet, legs, and knees. Russell ended up rushed into hospital with steriod induced diabetes and was told he would be inusulin dependant for the rest of his life, although his records went missing from hospital shortly after he was admitted. the doctor acting for the solictor came to examine him and has told us he has found letters from the hospital to our doctors and the interesting fact that I think everyone should know, he told us that the manufactors of kenalog suggest a maxium dose of 80 ml he told us Russell was injected with 320ml. We were also told that even though what he went through was very frighting because he did not die, we haven't got a positive case for sueing the doctor. ( but we still are continuing with the law suit)
Russell is not using insulin anymore as the steriods have came out of his body and his pancreas started again, although he is now classed as diabetic type 2 ( diet controlled)
Regards
Tina and Russell ***

I accidentally(thank God) stumbled to this site after typing in a search for : viral infection that causes dizziness, racing heart, lump in throat. Up popped this!!! I was horrified but at the same time relieved. I am 35 yrs old and for the past 2 weeks I have been suffering from panic attacks, dizziness, uncontrollable hunger, constant thirst, tingling in my lower arms and hands.
I've been on Yasmin for a year now and am just now noticing these potent symptoms. I was in a restaurant in a business meeting 2 weeks ago. I suddenly felt hot, sweaty and extremely dizzy. Scared me to death!!
I've since been to my doctor 2 x's this past week. She's prescribed Omnicef,Zithromax,Augmentin XR under the assumption I had a sinus infection or ear infection causing these symptoms.
I took my last pill of Yasmin 6 days ago for my new cycle, and coincidently called my OB/GYN and complained about how expensive Yasmin is. She switched me to Estrostep. Is Estrostep better, the same or worse than Yasmin?? I still feel like a bus hit me,head is light and dizzy, nervous, panic attacks have spread out but not left completely, and hunger has slowed down. Am I getting better? Do I still need to go back to the doctor? Can I be fixed? Do I need a supplement? I need to relax so I can mother my 2 children and function in my daily life. any suggestions?
I thank God I accidentally found this site. Although I don't think it WAS an accident....HE answers prayers in the most awesome ways.

Hi,
I was on Yasmin for three months but stopped taking it just over a month ago after looking at the postings on this website. I'd previously tried Alesse and Marvelon but had to switch because of breakthrough bleeding. Yasmin solved the breakthrough bleeding problem but caused the following symptoms that I hadn't had with the other two pills: headaches, vaginal dryness (to the point where it became difficult to have sex), dry skin and hair, constant thirst, frequent urination, muscle weakness, and NO sex drive. I didn't have the more serious symptoms that many of you report (heart palpitations, depression, panic attacks), but I was alarmed to read that many of you didn't start to experience these side-effects until you'd been on Yasmin for over a year. Did Berlex's clinical studies actually go on for long enough that they could tell what the long-term side-effects of this pill were (e.g. what does the change in blood potassium levels do to you over the long term?)? Doubt it. Anyway, I think Yasmin is probably great for breakthrough bleeding... but that's the only good thing I have to say about it. By the way, I feel pretty much back to normal now
(a month and a bit after I stopped taking it) so I guess the side-effects don't always persist.
Wishing you all the best of luck in recovering from Yasmin. If anyone knows of a pill that's good for cycle control but won't completely f*** up your body, please let me know!!!

Oh My Goodness, I wish I would have read all these wonderful post before last night. My doctor put me on this horrible medicine. I developed a very bad sore throat and lost my voice for three days. During this time I was so worn out and tired all the time! My doctor said I had a viral infection, I got better and started taking the medicine again, last night. I woke up with a sore throat and tonight after work I am throwing all this medicine away. I don't like all the side affects headache, constant thirst, weight gain, etc.. Bye Bye Singular

I have been using ovcon for 3 weeks now and it has been no picnic. I have had severe headaches, nausea, pain and swellin in my left eye, cramping (so bad i too thought i may have had an ulser) sore throat, dizziness, constant thirst and weak, yet unable to eat. I even went to the emergency room thinking that something more serious was wrong.
MAYBE THIS DRUG SHOULD BE FURTHUR INVESTIGATED!!!
I never had any of these problems while on ortho-tri cyclen.

I'm really glad I read the entries on this web site--after being on Yasmin for 3 months, I'm having a hard time weighing the positive and negative side effects. I notice I am VERY thirsty and listless since I started....And I have a pain in my chest almost all the time. I work out about 3 times a week and notice in the middle of cardio I get terrible pain like I've ran 5 miles when I've gone barely 2.
The positive effects have been lighter flow during my period and less moodiness during PMS. My breasts have grown a little bit as well(I need all the help I can get and surgery is nothing I would consider ;)
My skin is also drier since I started taking Yasmin... I know that ALL birth control pills have negative effects at least in some way. But I took Ortho Novum 1/35(old school pill) and never experienced the constant thirst or other effects I mentioned...

Although I suffer from Bi-polar, BPD and PTSD my doctor prescribed me Duromine to lose the weight I had gained from using seroquel. My prescribed dose is 600mg. The duromine sent me absolutely nuts and being a recovering addict and alcoholic i used more than the dose prescribed. Then I found I could not sleep and am now (after stopping taking the duromine) trying to cut the seroquel down as I got up to taking 1500mg a night. I'm now on 900mg and strange things happen in the night. I live alone with two dogs....my babies... and although i cant recall it things happen. the dishes are done or the weirdest one my dogs wear fleeces and coats in winter. I woke to find India (one of my dogs) with her coat and fleece off and folded neatly on the shelf. I don't recall doing this. Just a warning for thoes suffering from dry mouth and constant thirst, i ended up drinking so much water that i was flushing the sodium out of my body. your sodium levels should be between 136-145. my levels were 117. Had they dropped to 113 I would have had irreversible brain damage. I was in hospital twice because of this. I now take ten salt pills throughout the day to make sure my sodium levels are ok...........VERY SCARY
