I have no idea what most of you are saying. My son has cronic severe asthma and there have been times where he has been close to dying. He is 8 yrs old and been through a lot more than most people have been their entire lives. He has been on singulair for about 6 or 7 yrs now and he hasn't any problems with side effects that any of you are talking about. Before he was put on singulair controlling his asthma was almost impossible. For the parents who have not given ao have just stop giving their children their medication just like that. You should talk to you doctors because I know first hand how dangerous asthma can be. If any parent has ever had to rush their child to the ER and then you child was put into the icu for weeks at a time. You will think you lucky stars there is a medicine like singulair out there. Thank You for letting me share my story.

I have been on Singulair longer than I can recall... at least 10 years, maybe longer. My 7 year old son has been on it since he was probably 12 months old. Neither one of us have had any problem reported here. No depression, no sleeplessness (until I weaned him from naps, he slept up to 13 hours a day), no leg cramps, nothing. We are two of the happiest, most well adjusted people you could know. And, best of all, we haven't had any asthma attacks. Bottom line, different drugs react differently in different people. Don't let the post here stop you from trying a medication that for some could mean the difference between life and death depending on how asthmatic they are. As with any drug recommended by your doctor, try it. If you experience adverse reactions, stop it ASAP. It's that simple.

My son age 3 was diagnosed with asthma about a year ago. Since then he has been sick constantly. Most recently his doctor has prescribed Singulair. He is aggressively pushing it on us. I stated my concerns to him, and he said there is nothing wrong with the drug.. he gets all the news letters.. and all the things I listed was the first time he heard anything.. I asked for his to refer us to a specialist and he wont.. I cant find anyone for a second opinion..My son needs medicine- at night i cant leave his side cause of his breathing.. The doctor wont suggest any alternate and I am stuck. I keep reading about all the people who are not taking singulair anymore- what what are they taking? I am completely lost here!

Over 10 years ago I hurt my back being hit by a car. The Ortho gave me shots of corticosteriods every two weeks and this went on for 6 months. I went into premature menopause and was told, this caused bone loss as well"..I asked this new Ortho "to please not use steriods for this reason and because I now have premature thinning of my bones due to the misguided efforts of the 1st MD. Last week I had reinjured my back in 3 disks, I told the MD about all the side affects from before with injections, but he claimed this was different and new.. He claimed kenalog was "new and not what I had before". I had an intense headache immediately after the procedure and rapid heart beating ever since that hasn't gone away, and every time I lift my head I get the headache. It's been a week today and there is no positive change and still no call back to answer my worries. My BP is through the roof and I've never had high blood pressure in my life. My back still hurts me and he shot the tailbone area, after I asked him "NOT TO inject there because of previous nerve damage by MD #1 from 10 yrs. ago. NO MD will call me back and I'm worried I'll have a heart attack since this chest pain has increased and my PCP will not listen and neither will the Ortho who did the injection and he clearly lied about what it was or it's "new-ness".. anyone else have this painful heartbeat and bad headache after a shot, and when does the CFS headache go away??

I started taking Advair a couple of weeks ago and only planned to take it for a limited time. I've only been taking it once a day. However, several days ago I noticed I had a nasty rash on my neck and I couldn't figure out why. Then, I read that corticosteriods can cause this, so I'm pretty sure it is the Advair. As a result, I'm going to stop taking it so I can stop wearing turtle necks in the middle of May!

I had been suffering from severe allergies for about 10 years and had been through the desensitizing shots, antihistimines, and whatever else one can imagine. I was a human dartboard for some of the allergists I consulted. Finally, this past Spring, my GP suggested that I try a Kenalog shot. At first I declined because I knew there could be complications with taking corticosteriods. After a month or two of suffering with the allergies and my fibromyalgia in full swing, I decided to get the shot. The difference in the allergies was like night and day. And the bonus to the treatment was that my fibromyalgia was decreased and a pressure buildup in my left ear subsided. Yes, I experienced longer and heavy periods, and occasional acne (which I was able to control with topicals), and I'm certain if I made the effort I could attribute other oddities in my life to the shot. However, I have been miserable lately since I believe the shot is wearing off. After reading all the horror stories on this site it has made me wary of the use of Kenalog. But we must remember that not all humans react the same way to all med.
