WoW! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I found this website!

I had been taking Lisinopril HCTZ 10-12.5 once daily since April of this year. I was on Labetalol 200mg/2x's daily as I developed Hypertension during my pregnancy. Once I delivered my baby I was then switched to Lisinopril HCTZ by my primary care physician.

The Lisinopril did wonders for my blood pressure but by mid-June I started having side effects. I went to my doctor numerous times and then to the ER since I thought I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor suggested that I was having panic attacks or just symptoms from the cold I had. So, I went to my primary doctor and she immediately jumped and gave me Prozac. Never once did either doctor ever link the symptoms to the Lisinopril.

My symptoms included:

*Light Headed
*Dizziness
*COUGH COUGH COUGH!!!!!!!!
*EXTREME DIARRHEA - Everything I ate or drank came out like water almost immediately!
*Chest Pain and pain down into my left arm and fingers
*Chills
*Blurred Vision
*Rapid Heartbeat
*Cold/Sweaty Feet
*Sweating
*Bloated Feeling
*Tight/Itchy Skin
*Rash on chest 2x's
*Nausea
*****Panic attacks and feeling like I was going crazy!!!!!******

Upon finding this website Friday, August, 22nd, I went to my doctor and told her NO MORE was I taking this medication! It's POISON! I am now taking Ziac 5/6.25 once daily. Ziac like Labetalol is a Beta Blocker rather than an ACE Inhibitor and may not be as effective but I sure would rather this than Lisinopril.

I am still experiencing some of the side effects of the Lisinopril but I am hoping that they will deminish soon. PLEASE!!

I, like a lot of others have mentioned on this website felt like I was loosing my mind. I felt like I couldn't explain all the things I was feeling because some of the feelings just didn't come out right and did make me sound crazy. At one point my doctor told me it was "all between my ears!" Okay?!?!?

I hope this has helped others and I plan on making a complaint on the FDA website, this medication needs to be removed from the pharmacies! It's poison!

If anyone knows how long the side effects last after stopping this medication I would surely appreciate the info!

I have many of these symptoms and have had them for several months but was waiting for a stress test, which came out fine. Finally called the doctor last week and he changed me to Novasc. Coughing at night, coughing on the phone, in short conversations, cough! cough! cough! They say it can take about two weeks for it to stop and I am on now five days and look forward to the day it ends! Cough, gag, sneeze, eyes start watering! Why wait til August? Call the doctor now!

I started taking this med on 6/1/08 after taking Atacand for 4 years (had to switch for ins). Anyway, I feel for anybody that takes this stuff. I started coughing the very next day. I have no appetite because I cough to the point of getting sick to my stomach and aching in my gut. Nothing tastes good. I am totally exhausted. I wake myself up coughing at night and am totally worthless during the day ( I have always been an active person). Can't talk on the phone because of the coughing spells. Go out in public and start coughing out of nowhere. Get stares because people think you have some disease. I CANNOT wait to go to my Dr. in August and tell her she has got to find something else for me! I can't believe this stuff is still being prescribed since I have read some really bad reviews about it.

I've been on Lisinopril for a couple to three years. I often get tingling and numbness in my arms when I sleep. Also, my sense of smell diminished
greatly. I've now gone off the 5 ml. and am noticing my SENSE OF SMELL is much better!! Has anyone had this problem?? My hands swelled badly too, and that has improved too. Cough all gone. I'm monitoring with a bp monitor, and my pressure is normal. Exercise and good diet seem to be working.
Am so glad to have my sense of smell back after years!!!!

I started taking Glucophage about 2 months ago. The first 2 to 3 weeks were hell... as far as the no appetite, dirreaha, and extreme feelings of naseua goes. But I stuck with it...thanks to a little herbal remedying of my own... cough cough... I was able to eat and get over the naseua. Well after the first few weeks were over...I started to not feel sick anymore. I feel fine, very seldom do I feel sick to my stomache anymore. I think once your body gets used to the changes...that's when you can fully appreciate the positive sides. All in all, I would say this i sa good medicine for me, and it is helping me reach a healthy weight. I have lost maybe 15 pounds since starting it. Good luck sticking through the first few weeks of treatment! It's worth it!

I have been treated for HTN for the past year (I am 47) and have had great blood pressure results with Lisinopril, but I also developed the horrible cough.

I first started lisinopril first in February of 2005 but noticed the development of a terrible, gagging, cough that made it difficult for me to communicate at times (I am an RN). I would feel fine for a while and then start in with the cough...even the MDs noticed it and asked me about it at work.

I was hoping that it was just a winter cough thing since my BP was really doing well on the 10mg of lisinopril, but with my stress incontinence problem and the lost nights of sleep, and daily coughing-gagging fits, I had to stop it after a few months. I noticed that the cough subsided within a few days after stopping the drug.

My MD started me on 25 mg. HCTZ which lowered my BP although my diastolic was sometimes higher than he liked it.

I had been taking HCTZ until two weeks ago. After getting a few too many BPs in the 140/90 range, I decided to stop taking it and restarted my lisinopril. I felt okay for a day or two and then COUGH, COUGH, GAG, RETCH....all over again. I know it's the lisinopril now. I can't handle this coughing, I do groups in a mental health facility....I can't make it through them sometimes, I also have a horrible time with my stress incontinence because of the coughing.

I just restarted my HCTZ today and hope to have shaken off this cough within a few days. I see my MD in three weeks and hopefully we can work something else out. I was very disappointed in the lisinopril since it is very cheap and got my BP to a nice 120/78 range.
