Couple of days symptoms and conditions

I used this rinse for one month following oral surgery. I started having problems a couple of days before the prescribed period was over. It has been two months since I stopped rinsing with this medication. I still cannot taste anything on the tip of my tongue. The rest of my tongue is OK, but the tip seems to be permanently numb.

I had Mirena inserted in January 07 and for the first few months things were ok. I came across this site about 6 weeks ago after I'd been experiencing cramps, lower back pain and constant bloating for about 2 months. After reading other womens' symptoms I recognized a few I was feeling myself, such as feeling tired all the time and aching joints, extremely painful breasts, also I lost interest in the most basic everyday things. I have gained 15-20lbs in the last 18 months and nothing I did would shift it. Well I decided to have it removed and it was taken out a couple of days ago. It's a good job I have a strong personality as the doctor did his best to convince me I was making a mistake (I had it inserted to help with painful periods) and basically said on your head be it. I'd rather have a painful few days each month than all the symptoms I had all the time. Well I am now having a really heavy period, with pains to match, which I'm hoping will calm soon. I must admit I'm not feeling very different but I feel better in the knowledge I have control over my own body instead of that little plastic contraption. If I gain or lose weight, it's down to my own actions. I'll post again in a couple of weeks to let you know how it's going. All I can say is that it's your body and the decisions are ultimately yours, don't let doctors bully you and you should go ahead and take control. I had the mirena in Feb. 2008. Initially I spotted for a few months after by the time that stopped I had severe depression, no energy, could barely get the energy to get dressed. I have a 2 and a 3 year old so this weighed heavily. I also would bleed for a couple of days after sex. The depression got so bad I went to the doctor. When they weighed me I had found I gained 10lbs in 6 months... I was at my pregnancy weight! At 5'0 this is huge to me. I have had it out for 3 days. I am getting more energy little at a time I hope to lose the weight soon! This has been great birth control for some of my friends but I am more than glad to have it gone!

My son is 5 years old and has been on Sigulair since he was probably 2 years old. I never really thought anything of his behavior until recently. I took him to the doctor because he would not stop sniffing and said his nose felt stuffed up. The Dr. said his nose was completely clear. I asked her about the Singulair and she said I was the 2nd one this week whose child had recently developed a tic and that the other child was also on Singulair. She said she would call the Drug Rep. and let me know. By the time I got home she had called and I called her back. She said that tics occurred in a very small percentage of children taking singulair and to go ahead a stop taking it. I have also experienced severe behavioral problems ( tantrums unlike anything I have ever seen, telling myself and and my husband that he hates us, he tells us that he is stupid and that he doesn't love himself, he says he will cut his Dad's head off and that he wants us to go to jail.) There is more but just talking about for the first time, I am so upset that I never put 2&2 together. He has also had the leg pains and stomach pains. Everything I have read, fits my 5 year old to a"T". I am in awe over all of this. Today is his first day not taking it and I am looking forward to seeing some changes in him. Does anybody know if there are any long-term affects? Thank you to everyone who is open enough to talk about things and get information out there for people like me . I have been on singulair for several months or more. In the last month or so I have had a handful of breakdowns emotionally, crying like a little baby some worse than others. I feel paranoid but i don't know if that is just a case of anxiety.Leaving the house has become an issue if it is a bad sad feeling day. I just learned about an investigation tonight and googles it. It lead me here.

I don't know what to do.

I was prescribed Zocor for high cholesterol. Almost immediately I began to experience body aches -- some days more severe than others. I would take ibuprofen and it would help. Then, I started getting a pretty strong pain on my hip which radiated down my leg onto my foot. The pain was so severe, even the Motrin 800 mg. pills didn't help it. I am 53 years old, but I felt like a 90 year old. I had problems walking, especially after sitting for an hour or so. I had problems with stairs. Even laying down was painful. I tried heating pads, ointments, etc. When I told my doctor about it, she said that this was a typical side effect of statins, and that because I am diabetic, I need to continue taking Zocor to keep my cholesterol down. Just the other day, I stopped taking Zocor for 3 glorious days and guess what? NO pain!!! I resumed it because my doctor insists that I stay on it, but I wish there was something else I could take that wouldn't cause pain.

Well, I have just started taking Doxy for a couple of days now and so far have noticed a change in bowel movements, appetite, a bit of nausea, my stomach has been feeling a bit bubbly and weird here and there. Also, it makes me feel high after taking it. And i know this sound funny but it makes my bottom itchy. Which is all really weird but over all I don't really care about the side effects as long as they dont become too extreme. I think as long as I take the medicine on terms that are best for me I will be just fine. I am just very glad to be getting rid of an infection that was causing me a lot more pain and discomfort than this med and will be glad when this is over. The biggest issue I have with the pills is getting them down my throat...I'm not a good pill taker and they make me gag. I can't imagine having to take them and deal with side effects for months at a time as some of you are doing so good luck to everyone!! And I also agree that doctors really do need to address the more serious side effects on this med! After coming to this site I will definitely take precautions.

Hi - I posted a couple of days ago (around the 15th). I had the Mirena taken out yesterday. Yes, still bleeding. Yes, with medium to large-sized clots. Oh, I forgot this side affect also - for some time when I had it in, I had a tinging or numb-like feeling passing through my top lip - I thought I was going crazy at first but I realized it had been happening more and more and it wasn't my imagination. I've had this also since it was removed; not as often though.

Could it be that we are the "3%" that has a problem with this IUD??!! I am following up with a second opinion with another OBGYN because I was concerned that the radiological tech said my uterine lining was "very thick" and my friend's mom (who is a nurse) asked right away if the doctor was doing a D & C...(!) Any suggestions or ideas or comments???

I'm 18 and I've been on NuvaRing for a little less than 2 months. The first month was fine nothing out of the ordinary except that it kept slipping, it wouldn't stay all the way up in my vagina(and still hasn't). My doctor told me I could either do 4 weeks in and one week out or 4 weeks in and then put in another one right after(so i wouldn't have a period). I put the new ring in just over 2 weeks ago and started to experience abdominal pain(i thought it was just a pulled muscle or something), but then I started to get a brown discharge. Last week I started to feel absolutely sick to my stomach and am so tired all the time. I decided to take the ring out on Monday since the discharge hadn't stopped within a couple of days. I also did this because I had started to get terrible cramps and diarrhea. I had to skip 2 classes because they were so bad. I almost never had cramps before but these are so terrible that not even a hot shower and Ibuprofen can fix them. How long will it take for this to go away since I didn't use the ring for the entire time? I hate feeling like this, I can't really function. I'm glad I'm not alone on this.

I thought the nr was the best think since sliced bread. I'm 22 years old and I've been on nuvaring for 3 or 4 months now and I haven't experienced any change in my mood swings or anything as far as depression goes. I can say that for the past two and half almost 3 weeks I've been breaking out in hives really bad like clockwork every night. I've gotten crushing chest pains 3 or 4 times last month and this month. A couple of days ago after I took out my nr for my nf free week I was doubled over with stomach pains. My abdomen was so swollen I looked as If I was 5 months prego. I have no idea what to do now

I don't believe you are experiencing side effects due to Synthroid - I have similar symptoms and just a couple of days ago my doctor and I have discovered that my symptoms may have to do with my PARAthyroid gland. I also have Chronic Kidney disease which also has a correlation to both the Thyroid and Parathyroid.

Ask your doctor to check your Ionized Calcium, PTH (parathyroid hormone), and your Vitamin D-25 - also your cholesterol levels. Also - check out GOITROGENS - certain foods and drugs, including SOY and Milk may affect your body's absorption of your levothyroxine dose (you may not be getting enough)

I was prescribed a generic for keflex (cephalexin), 500mg three times a day for 10 days for cellulitis(skin infection through an insect bite). My gastrointestinal tract went totally haywire as soon as I started taking the medication, bad stomach upset. The infection subsided in a couple of days but started having stomach cramps and the diarrhea continues for almost a month till I started taking probiotics to replenish all the flora in the gi tract.
It has been almost a month after I stopped taking this medication and now experience phantosmia( phantom smell ), in my case smelling smoke/exhaust fumes at random times throughout the day. I mentioned this symptom to the doc and according to here, it is one of the side effects asked me to hang in there for 5 more months before I can consult an ENT specialist.

I've been taking YAZ for 2 1/2 weeks. First I should tell you that I suffer from PMDD and I wanted to give this a try. I would eat none stop...bad stuff like donuts and fried foods and I was just very touchy and angry for no reason with no energy. I know it's still early but I did have the extreme fatigue, sharp painful headaches, blurred vision, muscle aches the first couple of weeks but yesterday and today I feel GREAT! To early yet to notice if my moods will continue to improve or not be so drastic before I start my period but this is exactly the time that I would start being a monster before...I did feel a little sad during the first couple of weeks but that has gone away! I'm happy except I have noticed some hair loss just in the last couple of days. I hope this is temporary until my body adjusts to the medication because if you suffer from PMDD you will know that the minor initial side effects are definatley worth it (except I would rather have my hair and be mean) lol...we will see. I hope this helps...Sex drive is fine so far...Please write something regarding hair loss if you have been taking it longer and yours stopped after awhile. I don't wanna lose too much. Take care! Day 4 of taking Cephalexin (500mg) 3 x daily for an abdominal cyst that became infected. Have seen little change in the cyst so far- wondering if it takes longer to work? Side effects: really the only side effect that I can claim is tiredness. Also- in the last 24 hours I developed a very sore throat- no other secondary symptoms like coated tongue or swelling so I am not sure if this is related to the Cepha. I am in Vegas on business s it could be "Vegas Throat" (combination of AC, low humidity and cigarette smoke in casinos) or the start of a cold. I will see in the next couple of days when I get back home where the humidity is 60%.

I was a competitive runner with a number of sub 3 hour marathons under my belt before I was prescribed statins for elevated cholesterol 2 years ago. The first go round was 40mg zocor but muscle soreness and loss of strength started within 2 months. Switched to NIASPAN but couldn't tolerate it. The last 7 months have been on 10mg of Lipitor and now have intense pain in my legs, soreness in my wrist and thumb and swollen feet. I can still run but much less than before and much slower. I regularly go to the gym but have seen a steady decrease in the amount of weight I am able to lift. I have a blood test in a couple of days and will be looking for myalgia again. I have discontinued the statin and don't plan to start again. I was healthier before the DR decided to "help" me with my cholesterol problem.

I'm in my fifth day of the start with this and Viramune. I'd describe the first couple of days like a bad flu with headache and nausea. I still am very tired, and got to work late twice because I slept through my alarm. I sure hope this ride improves, because it's a bumpy one...

I had my Mirena put in 1/07 and I had it removed 08/08 because my hair would not stop falling out. At first I thought that it was from just having the
baby but after 20 months it just wasn't that. The doctors tried telling me that hair loss is not a side effect from mirena but i beg to differ. My hair has stopped falling out and I am glad I had the Mirena removed before I went completely bald. Now I am taking Yaz which seems to be ok.

Topamax may help some people, but for me it is poison and I've tried it twice! This second time around I tried it longer and went to higher dose. I'll just list the bad side effects that I had this time, although I had some of the same the first time. By the way, I took it for migraines. The first time a couple of years ago I was on 25 mg a day. Then, this time decided to try again since migraines were so bad thought I would give it another chance. I went from 25 mg to 100 mg a day slowly increasing as directed. The side effects started occurring right after the first couple of days, numbness in my hands, jaw area. Then sometimes numbness in my feet. Started to feel bloated in my stomach, waistband on pants a little tighter, and also noticed a little fluid retention in my fingers and ankles. I would forget a word here and there, or when typing, type the wrong word. Eventually it got so bad that I would sit there and think to myself, ok I know this is the right word but should I actually say it or type it? Friends thought I was in a bad mood when I wasn't. I would get very very quiet and I didn't want to leave the house. Thank goodness my husband was understanding. We knew it was the drug. And we knew I would stop taking it! Sometimes my back and sides would ache which is unusually for me, and I drank a lot of water. I lost my appetite completely but still did not lose weight at all like others say they do, if anything I think I gained in fluid retention. The skin on my ears started to burn and itch, then the skin on my face started to itch. I felt nauseous almost every day. I also felt like I was completely encased in cement, this is about the only way I can describe it. You just do not feel like yourself at all. You have that foggy brain feeling people mention. You know you don't feel like your normal self, but you feel so lousy you almost don't care. It's a scary feeling. This was all in one month, I figured I had given it a chance but that was it. Even with the warnings about seizures I quit taking it immediately. I would rather have migraines than have all of those side effects. Also I wonder what is it doing to your other vital organs if it can have those effects? For those who do not experience any of this, I'm glad, but I have to say very surprised.

My son, who just turned 14 this month, was on Singulair for over 2 years.
He was diagnosed with reactive airway disease and possibly Asthma--and prescribed this awful drug-even back in 2004. The doctor said how wonderful this med was and prevents any further attacks.. So, for 2 years-every night, he took this mood altering, destructive drug. He lost all interest in school, his athletics-soccer, skateboarding, biking..in fact became almost a vacant , very unhappy, child-had stomach aches, joint pains and reflux--why--I brought him to the doctor and Pediatric center so frequently--all they kept saying his --his asthma is better, much be other issues...Even after the March 2008 suicide--his doctor said-that is just an isolated incident-just monitor him--It is a good drug. Right, month by month his behavior escalated to wanting to die, no reason to go to school-he said he was stupid and a failure and why don't I understand there is no reason to his life. A usually happy fun-loving boy -my son- didn't want to live. Nothing made him happy-I started to believe what the doctors said--maybe something or someone at school (bully, pedophile??) caused this change. Terrible nightmares and vivid dreams...Until this past July, I asked him want to go to the library for some books or dvd's...he went ballistic-threw everything off his computer desk and tried to break his chair. He is not an aggressive boy but this behavior was becoming a daily issue. Along with everything flying off his table, was his bottle of Singulair pills. It then dawned on me..I have been poisoning my only son. The child I know and love and gave birth to returned within a few days--although I am worried sick about further asthma attacks --all the doctors can prescribe is a steroid drug-asthmex or Pulmicort.. I cannot understand nor comprehend why this drug is being prescribed for children and young adults. The guilt I live with is terrible as my son has lost 2 years of his life--
and thought there was something really wrong with him-At least we woke up---in time--how about some other parents..thinking it's just normal adolescent behavior for their child or their fault???

I can't believe this many people have had side effects with Mirena. I do not have any children, but thought this was the best birth control method for me. I had it inserted in May 2007.Intense cramping for about 1/2 hour after the insertion and then light cramping for a couple of days. For the first 6 months or so I loved having it and not worrying about birth control. Then all the bad side effects began. I get many headaches, and I have absolutely NO sex drive what so ever! Then my breasts are tender for a few days a week and I have brown discharge about every 1 1/2 weeks that lasts for a couple of days. I was never moody before during my periods, and my husband has even commented on how terrible my mood swings are lately. I can't wait until I get it out (2 more weeks!!!)

Doctor just changed my prescription from Atenolol to Lisinopril. After 2nd, 3rd day of taking it, I developed the cough in the middle of the night. He said that this was one of the side effects, so, I wasn't too concerned. But then, after another couple of days, started feeling the dizziness, nausea, lack of appetite, and the FATIGUE! Decided to call him after taking 6 of those pills, to tell him about my concerns. He said to stop taking it. Prescribed Diovan now. Still feel like I've been run over by a truck, but
SO happy to have found this web site. I hate that so many others have been affected by all of these symptoms, and, affected for so long. Just made me feel somewhat better that I was not the only one feeling this same way. I thought I was losing it.

I thought I was going to die for the first couple of days after I had Mirena inserted. The pain was unbearable! I had to take Vicodin and laid in bed in the fetal position crying and fighting the pain and nausea. I thought, "What have I done!?" But, eventually the immense pain went away. But not for long. I have horrendous cramping before, during and after every period. I go through Aleve and Ibuprofin like crazy. Then, I ended up with ovarian cysts, I thought I was dying, it hurt. Now, after reading these postings, I realize that I have even more side effects to blame on this device of torture! I'm bloated, gained a crap load of weight, am bitchy ALL the time, I always feel exhausted, and wish I could disappear. I friggin' hate this thing. I have been thinking about having it removed for a while. I have now made my decision.

Welcome to my hell!

If I could choose to have my thyroid back, I take it and take my chances with the cancer. Well lets see... I take .300mcg of Synthroid and generally feel good only when I forget to take my medication for a couple of days. After about 3 days, I start feeling tired and will eventually start crashing for 10 to 12 hours at a time. OH! Ive heard that it takes weeks to level out, but I can feel the difference in about 3 days. Of course, the doctor says that's not possible, but then - he is holding my thyroid hostage.

I have gained 30 lbs. Have headaches frequently, get moody, AND now I get bloated when I eat. Im ready to try the Armour thing that Ive read about. Cytomel makes my heart race.

Im pretty sure that smoking helps! I read that it lowers your TSH levels.

Im just tired of feeling like sh_t all the time.

I have been taking simvastatin since June 28, 2008. I am 44 years old and have always been majorly active with my 17 year old daughter. Recently I have become chronically fatigued so much as to want to go back to bed within 2-3 hours after I get up in the morning, (definitely not me). I have felt spaced out,depressed to the point of wanting to cry all the time, have severe back, hip, knee, leg, and hand pain. I go to pain management for my back and hip problems (past surgery), but the usual pain has been intensified over the last 2 months and I wasn't sure why, until i decided to check out the Simvastatin to see if it has made me put on a few pounds, and boy have my eyes been opened!!!!!!!!! I AM STOPPING THE MEDICATION IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all who have spoken up, I wish I would of checked on this sooner!!!!! I'm calling my Dr. first thing in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had severe breast tenderness for the last couple of days(I got my Mirena a week ago) A little cramping for a few days, and spotting-that has all gone away, but I can barely tolerate a bra, or put my arms to my sides. Has anyone had this symptom, and how long can I expect it to last?
