My wife is experiencing severe muscle pain in the back and rib area after taking this drug. Has anyone gotten better after they stopped taking the medication or is everyone still suffering?

I had two Kenalog injections (not sure of the dose) several years ago to help curb the effects of dyshidrotic eczema on my hands ... and wound up not ovulating for about three months. This had not even been brought up as a potential side effect when my dermatologist recommended the injections, and she acted as though it was a very small thing when I called about it later on. I was not given a drug information sheet (nor, I have to confess, did I ask for one).
In my personal experience, though, the relief from the pain, blisters, cracking and bleeding on my hands was worth not having a period for several months, but if you're trying to get pregnant or already have female problems (i.e., PCOS, etc.), I would make a point to discuss these things with your dermatologist and/or your regular care physician before progressing with the injections.

I've had the Mirena in for about 7 months just after my second child.... I haven't stopped spotting/bleeding since.... Its horrible. I have had the most intense headaches, to a point where I feel I cannot function. The pain so bad... It has almost dropped me to the floor.
I am constantly struggling to focus. I cry all the time. Yet have a void of emotion. I am struggling to enjoy the simple pleasures I used to enjoy. My libido...... well what can I say...... I have none....!! at first it was just an effort for my partner to begin intercourse with me.... and I would soon enough begin to enjoy it.... But lately I'm finding it hard to enjoy it at all.
I feel disgusting most of the time.... I have had odor problems... and then there's the constant bleeding!!
I feel unattractive! I feel bloated.
And I am about to start seeing a bowen therapist to help me with my structure. The joints in my sternum keep cracking.... and until I read all of this site... I didn't even begin to think that it could possibly be related.....!!!
I have also had serious suicidal thoughts.
I WANT THIS THING OUT!!!

Hi Everyone,
I am a fourth year medical student and recently I started having horrible panic attacks, I feel like crying all the time and I actually feel depressed. I am a "hypochondriac" generally (I guess it comes with the territory of knowing about different diseases out there), but I have been feeling like I am going crazy. I started Yasmin in November of 2006 and I was fine for a few months. Lately, with stress at school and exams, I started feeling like I've just crumbled. I get anxiety/panic attacks (the latest one was at the movies), horrible heart palpitations, nausea, I am sweating, I can't sleep, I feel this knot in my stomach. It's horrible. I thought it was me cracking under pressure, but I was never like this before I started Yasmin. Recently, I was placed on an antidepressant because everyone assumed it was depression, but after reading this post, I really think it might be the pill. I got off it a week ago, so I hope I will see a difference. Thanks guys!!!

Levaquin cured my pneumonia but I'm now having trouble with my knees and shoulders. I can hardly bear my weight and am having trouble performing simple tasks such as reaching to answer the phone. Has anyone else suffered this way? Otherwise I feel well. I discontinued using Levequin on my doctor’s advice but when I explained my symptoms was told this was not a problem associated with Levaquin. I wonder. I'm 60 years old, very active and hope this problem is only temporary. I've got life to live!!!!

Thank goodness i found all of you,ive been on Yasmin for over around 3yrs and i had a short break for a couple of months in which i felt marvellous and much calmer.
However due to getting back together with my ex i thought i should be sensible and restart the pill.Well ive only taken 4 and i feel really sick and i have backache and i keep crying over nothing.I feel really depressed and highly irritable which is very scary. It mustve been why ive been so down before,i just never twigged it could be this pill.So i will be off to drs to sort this out and just wanted to say i'm so glad to know that it wasnt just me cracking up but because of the pill, ive felt like ive been living a nightmare and all this in four days? How can they keep prescribing stuff like this? I wish all of you the best of luck over this pill and coming off it etc

I'm 27 yrs old, fairly healthy female and just was given Levaquin on Monday, Sept. 18th for an upper respiratory infection. I was given a 5 day regimen of 750mg pills. I took the first pill Monday night between 7-8pm. By 9-10pm I was very ill, my whole body was in pain, I had nausea and started vomiting like crazy. I ended up having to go to the ER that night. I was told at the ER that I had a bad virus in addition to the upper respiratory infection and was told to keep taking the Levaquin. The next day I went home and slowly started to feel better - so by late evening I'm thinking this Levaquin must really be working, so I took the second pill at about 8pm. I will sum up all the symptoms I had starting at about 10pm that night...nausea, horrible insomnia -- every time I would try to drift off to sleep my body would "jump" out of sleep. My mind started racing thinking about a million different things, I started hearing cracking noises, my knees became very weak, I got so hot that I had to turn the AC down to 60. My legs and feet started tingling...you name it, it was happening. I thought I was going crazy. So at 4am I decided to go online and look up the side effects of this medicine -- I was shocked/relieved when I found this website. I was shocked that so many others have had negative experiences with Levaquin -- many worst than mine but I was also relieved to see that Iwas not just imagining all this. I only took 2 pills of Levaquin and it had this effect on me --- right now my right knee is so sore that is hurts to walk up and down stairs. I believe it was the Levaquin and not a virus that sent me to the ER Monday night! I have contacted my Doctor but all she said is yes, this is what could happen and offered me another antibotic --- I'm not trusting any prescription medicine at this time! Good Luck to all and I will file a complaint about this pill as all you should, so that it can be taken off the market!

I am 40 years old and I haven't taken an antibiotic since I was in my early 20's. I was given this drug after an outpatient surgery.
I am on the 4th day of a 6 day perscription and I have been suffering from a burning in my stomach, I am freezing and it's 65 degrees outside. I have gained about 6 pounds of water weight, I know it's water weight because my feet are fat. I'm normally 115lbs, so I do not have fat feet.
The worst physical side effect is the bloating in my stomach. Although I haven't experienced any nausea, I absolutely do not want to eat because the Doxy makes my stomach feel like I swallowed a rhino any time I eat anything. However, I swing between not being hugry at all and wanting to eat everything in my house.
And if I hadn't entered this site I would have never figured out why I'm so damned depressed! I'm not moody by nature so there's no way I just decided to suffer from depression for the hell of it. I was cracking jokes before, during, and after my surgery. Today I feel like crawling in a hole and dying but I'm not suffering from any post-surgery pain! I hate this drug!
Oh, yeah, I also can't see very well, blurred vision.

I have been off Advair for 7 months now. After quitting, I first got my voice back -- it had been cracking and disappearing by the end of the day. Then the swelling in my ankles went down. I was able to stick to a diet, and now I realize I looked like I was pregnant, my stomach was so big. I've lost 15 pounds on a realistically low-carb, low-gluten diet, fairly easily. I'm running again, finally with no muscle pain, and more lung capacity than I had on Advair. I've had a cold virus twice, and didn't become asthmatic, even though EVERY single cold had in the past. I was up to 500/50 when I decided to quit, and my doctor had told me I would likely have to stay on that dosage forever. (I'd had to supplement with Albuterol when I tried to exercise, and frequently had nighttime wheezes.) She was wrong. Advair is BAD NEWS. If you decide to quit, taper off gradually, over a few weeks. I went through a bad spell of painful headaches in the week I tapered.

I went to an internist for nasal congestion and he put me on levaquin. I was previously in very good health. My life has become a nightmare since taking ten days of 500mgs. I was dizzy right away but I decided to be stick it out because the print out said that dizziness could be a side effect. The pharmacy print out failed to mention that it could cause excruciating pain in the joints in my whole body and especially my knees. This was three weeks ago and I can hardly walk. I was a substitue teacher before and I cannot go back to work. I can't sleep from the pain and can hardly get up stairs. I keep hearing cracking noises when I move my body. I forgot to mention that I developed a yeast infection, burning skin, crawling feeling all over. I took Diflucan to get rid of the yeast. I want to walk normally again. I've been off the medicine about three weeks and I am feeling worse.I am taking Advil to help but I am not sure it is. Does anyone know how long these symptoms last and what can be done. I am frightened. This medicine is poison!

I am a 58 year old male and have been on Zocor for about 2 years. Over time I have noiced joint pain particularly in my big toes, both thumbs and my shoulders. I also, when getting out of bed in the morning, sounded like a broken machine -everything popped and cracked when I first started moving. In addition to the pain and noisey joints, I have more recently noticed fuzzy vision in the morning. I stopped taking the Zocor a week ago as an experiment to see if that might be the cause. Well the result is the toe, thumb and shoulder pain is pretty much gone as is the popping and cracking. I think the fuzzy vision is better but I'll give it a few more days to be certain before I make that claim for sure. I'm really not sure what to do now. My wife is afraid I'm going to keel over but I'm tired of the pain.

To guest 9280 below. Sounds like classic Lipitoritis. People don't inherit high cholesterol. However people can inherit metobolic problems that lead to elevated cholesterol levels. Since you state you have dry cracking skin and elevated cholesterol, sounds like you could have low thyroid function, which is almost always "inherited." Also, females are 9 times more likely to have thyroid problems than males. Have your doctor do a thyroid test. And remember, TSH over 3.04 indicateds hypothyroidism. Also check FT4 index and FT3.
Elevated cholesterol in a person who is strict with diet and exercise, is merely a symptom of an underlying metabolic problem. Taking Lipitor won't correct that problem. It may lower your cholesterol, but it will also induce the horrible side effects you experienced.

I have been on Zocor for about 6 months now and I see the posts about muscle cramps and stuff. My neck is doing a funny popping thing along with some other joints. They don't hurt or anything but could this cracking or popping be the Zocor?????

Took Doxy for 2 years for Lyme and Babesia. Never had a problem with it. I stopped taking it for 8 months, then the Lyme disease symptoms returned. So I started back up on it. I noticed migrating pain in all of my joints...even every toe. I stopped taking it for a week and the joint pain pretty much resolved. I started it up again and sure enough, joint pain returned mainly in my knees and hands. Constant cracking of my thumbs, knees, toes, elbows. It also caused my tendons to become very tight and sore in my right hand. Making it hard to hold my dog's leash or open a door knob. Whether it was a bad herxheimer reaction or just my body deciding it was sick of this drug......I may never know.
