My Asthma Doctor wants me off Toprol ASAP - he thinks that it is making my asthma worse. Said to go to my Primary Care Physician and switch to Diovan - said that immediately switching to Diovan means that I do not have to wean off the Toprol - does anyone know if this is true? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I take 50 mg of Toprol daily for HBP.

A Nuvaring proponent and user for 4 years (I started when it was first available on the US market) I decided to stop using it 2 weeks ago after reading some horrifying posts regarding the exponential increase in risk of stroke and pulmonary embolism in women who are 1.)35+ and 2.) smokers. What was most frightening, was the fact that most of the women who have died or are wheelchair bound, due to Nuvaring complications are under 30 and non-smokers.
The reason I have continued my research is because I have realized that for the past two years, I have experienced what I now believe to be side effects. I never had PMS before using the ring. With each year of use, my PMS has become more severe and of longer duration -- up to 2 weeks prior to my period. I have had horrible lower back pain for over 1 year, and x-rays from my chiropractor indicate no symptoms of a structural problem. Even after PT, the pain didn't subside. Additionally, I have experienced the mood swings and depression other women on this site report. I was constantly anxious, frustrated for no apparent reason, angry, and short-tempered to the point of volatile. The change in my personality has been obvious and rather disturbing. I am relieved to know that this shift might have been related, and I am curious to know how I will feel as the hormones from the ring are purged from my system. I am now choosing to use a non-hormonal contraceptive -- the sponge. It's easy, safe, convenient, and not dangerous to my health.

Something all women need to remember -- We are still guinea pigs for the health and pharmaceutical industries. Until women stand up and demand fair and equal respect for their health and welfare (that means vote - and not for those on the side of big business !!!) and stop supporting industries and politicians who LIMIT choices for women, this problem is NOT going away. The Nuvaring is just another example....

I began with a flu three weeks ago. Though was over the most severe
of the flu symptoms, I still felt sluggish after one week. I had headaches, still tired and thought I needed to check my hormones. ( I am 60 year old woman on homone replacement.) My doctor thought I might be having anallergic reaction to juniper and decided I should try
Singulair.

Last week I reported back, this is after one week on this drug. Now I thoughtI was having heart attacks, I was extremely fatigued(much worse), I was feeling anxious, wired, going from A to Z without a pause, my
body hurt and I couldn't think. I have a high level professional job that requires me to be on and I could not go to work. I love what I do by the
way. My doctor wondered if I was depressed or having manic attacks because I seemed "wired" to him. He ordered a test on nuerotransmitters and a heart exam. Now one week later I am unchanged or perhaps even worse, still not working and waiting for my tests.

However, this psychological twist that the doctor introduced has been bothering me. I did the depression drill ten years ago. It took me four
years to get rid of all the different drug options everyone subscribed and
have not been on any mood drug for the last four years. I am happy and not depressed, just having heart attack symptoms, fatigue, headaches, feelings of dread, anxiety, etc etc I am also very knowledgement and sophisticated regarding intended, curious and side effects of brain drugs. I began to think and the only new thing was this
drug.

The only new thing was this drug, I began to ask around my friends and the responses from everyone were immediate. This drug is terrible, the symptoms I have and other ones I just read are commonplace. Those
that hadn't tried it were curious to know my thoughts as they had heard
that it was very good for allergies but had side effects.

I am stopping this pill immediately, waiting on my tests, and will report
back to you how I feel within a few days.

I started taking Lipitor Sept, 2006. Soon after I thought I had the flu and was really sick for about 3 weeks. I assumed the muscle pain was due to the flu. I've felt really tired, aches all over, muscle pain, horrible lower back pain (I also have 2 bulging discs but the pain is worse than it's ever been) and I can't sleep a whole night through. I wake up in the middle of the night due to pain in my hands (the joints in my fingers almost feel like there's fluid around them and it's hard to move them), or back and leg pains. For the last month the pain in the arches of my feet and heels have been getting worse, to the point that I can't walk without pain. I have to have good suppory tennis shoes on at all times to be able to walk. The aches and pains started slowly and kept adding up so I just didn't pin point any one thing as the source of my problems. When my husband watched me hobble into the kitchen tonight he told me that everything started after my physical in Sept. The only medication that was added to my daily meds was Lipitor. (the only other med I take is 1/2 of a .25 HCTZ for slight elevated bp) I am schedule an appt with my doctor ASAP but I think I will stop taking Lipitor as of tomorrow. If the pain is reduced then I will be able to report that I believe Lipitor to be the culprit.

Do definately get off of Yasmin. Right away. Am curious to know how you ended up with Yasmin if your Doctor didn't prescribe it?

If you read through alof these listings and the listings on the site in the UK-you'll see the url links posted imbedded in these postings, there are alot of women who have experienced these kinds of side effects.

I have been on Yasime for three months and have never felt more depressed in my entire life. I am guessing that it is because of this pill. I feel like i will never be happy again! I don't even like myself. Please tell me it is a side effect of Yasmine. I feel crazy! My rational mind says that i can over come it, but no matter what i do i still feel really sad and on the verge of tears. I hate the fact that doctors don't really care and just give you a pill because it benefits them! How dare they! I am a real person with a life. AND i want it back. I would be very curious to know how many doctors actually take this pill or prescribe it to some one that they care about?? Any doctors out there reading this? If so be real with your patients. Aren't they the reason you became what you are?

OK, so I am thankful I found this site, but I am even more confused now than I was before. I am 31 and have been on Yasmin for over 1 year. In the past year I have noticed that I am a much more self-conscious, nervous person, and I suffer from extreme anxiety. Previously I was a very confident, social, outgoing person. I have very low energy and I seem to get tired too easily. I lack any sort of motivation & get depressed & cry at the silliest things (I can barely make it through an episode of Oprah or ER without welling up in tears!) I have also noticed a ridiculous amount of hair loss. I though my hair was thinning due to my age, but now I have actual bald spots! It recently dawned on my that my problems could be the result of the birth control pill, hence my discovery of this site.

After reading through this site I still can't tell if women are experiencing the negative efffects of anxiety, depression, hair loss, loss of libido, etc. while they are on Yasmin or after they stop taking the pill. After reading the postings on this site I am ready to quit Yasmin today, but I really am curious to know when most people have experienced these side effects the most. Also regarding weight gain & loss, again I can't tell if it occurs while on or off the pill. So far it hasn't been an issue for me, but what will happen when I stop?

Iwas only on advair for 1 month and stopped yesterday. on 3 occasions, I noticed a dircet cause/effect after a few beers. There were no side effects before the 1st beer and continued effects afterwards. Even 12 hours after I stopped, and the side effects were subsiding, they worsened after 1 beer. Curious to know whether those with side effects are/were drinkers and conversely, those without effects are non-drinkers.

Has anyone experienced further side effects after going off of Yasmin? How long did they last? I'll be 35 in April. I started Yasmin in 1996. I started having a lot of breakthru bleeding so my doc switched me to Orth-Tricycline. I didn't do well on that, so went back to Yasmin. I eventually went to the patch, but that kept coming off, not to mention other emotional side effects with that also. After reading all of the other woman's side effects, a lot the pieces of the puzzle are now coming together. I have suffered for years with a majority of symptoms. I was even hospitalized for a week in a specialty hospital in Chicago in October with excruciating headaches. Looking back over all my symptoms, it all makes sense. I stopped taking Yasmin in January. At the time I weighed 162. Today, I weigh 132. It has to be the Yasmin because I have not tried to lose weight. Sure, I lost fullness in my breasts and my butt has become a lot smaller......in other words, my figure has suffered, but a lot of fluid retention is GONE. I have been sleeping A LOT better too. Here were my symptoms for years:
Panic attacks
Depression
Heart racing
Lumps in breast
Psychotic
Leg pains
Spotting every month
Multiple periods
Cramping
Fatigue
Moodiness
Mean
Acne
Hair thinning
Discharge

Since going off, I have experienced acne like never before. I'm assuming it's the poison coming out of my system???
Also, my hair seems to be thinning more. I assume it's for the same reason. Was this stuff that TOXIC??? I still have 3 packs left, but I don't think I'll ever go back on it! I sure would appreciate to hear from anyone who has experienced side effects AFTER going off Yasmin. I'm curious to know if it's just me, or if it IS the toxins trying to leave my system...
Blessings to all!

Levaquin is probably one of the most damaging drugs in the market. I was given Levaquin 500mg for 20 days by a Urologist for a possible urinary infection. (It later turned out that the frequent urination for which I was given this medication had nothing to do with urinary infection and all the symptoms remained the same after completing the 20 day course, but that is a different story).

Now about the side effects. I started having on and off chest pains about a month ago and now the frequency of those chest pains have grown to almost persistent chest pain. It is getting me very nervous. I also notice my left knees are sometimes totally limp and unable to move.

Those doctors who prescribe this medication without becoming aware of its side effects and not informing the patients about its side effects should be prosecuted to maximum extent by the law and it should be considered a felony to prescribe this medication without considering alternatives.

I would like to know if anyone has noticed any of the symptoms getting better with time. I am curious to know if we can expect any of the symptoms to get better with time or worse? Also, I would like to know if anyone has been able to treat any of the side effects.

We need to get a petition together and file with FDA about Levaquin and its disastrous side effects. How can FDA approve this medication without a thorough study of its side effects?

Looking forward for any responses.

Thanks.

i've been just put on the medication prednisone about a month ago. i started at 75 mg a day to currently 50 mg a day. the docter will decrease my dose next month to probably 25 mg, although i was curious to know about how low does the dose have to be until i start to notice the side effects go down, and how long after reducing the dose does it take to notice a difference? currently i am experienceing quite a puffy face, some acne, and some weight gain.
if anyone has an answer to my question, i'd love it if you could email me and tell me. ******

I had a wonderful experience after taking this drug. I actually slept better, was more relaxed and for some reason, got all my office work done. All my files were in order and my whole office was organized. I have never been able to work as efficiently as when I was taking this medication. No amount of caffeine compares to this drug! I took one per day. I had no heart palpitations or headaches. I recently found out I may have adult ADD and my physician is very curious to know the ingredients in this drug, as they will be useful in prescribing an appropriate medication for the ADD.
