I am using Advair temporaily. It provides relief when I have a lot of sinus drainage and can't breath well. I am also reading Sally Fallons Nourishing Traditions and cutting out wheat, corn and most dairy. Also, all unnatural food additivesand processing including pesticides. Go to mercola.com to search for info on health and what's in the food we eat. I had no idea what was in stuff I was eating. I was shocked. I am hoping that I can get to a place where I won't need the medicine.

Hi,
I've never felt compelled to post anything on a blog site before, but in this case, I felt that it was important to share my experience on Yasmin. I've was on Yasmin for 3 years, but last month, I switched to Avianne.
At first, I didn't notice any terrible side effects on Yasmin. However, slowly over the years, I noticed or experienced the following: a) marked decrease in sex drive; b) vaginal dryness; c) melasma (darkening of skin on the face); d) depression (especially in the first week of the cycle); e) muscle spasms; and f) dehydration even while drinking 10 glasses of water a day; g) weight gain; and h) fatigue.
Most desturbing of all, were symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In my opinion, the diuretic component of Yasmin is dangerous. It was rare for me to pass a bowel movement every day and when I would, it was difficult b/c of constipation. Usually, I would pass a bowel movement every 3-5 days . I switched my diet to high fiber and eating mostly fruits/vegetables, and cutting out dairy, but that didn't help. Sometimes the pain from feeling bloated and "so backed up," that it was imbearable. Also, I would alternate from symptoms of constipation and diahrea.
I never had any of these problems before I started taking Yasmin.
It took me a while to put two and two together when I noticed that the ONLY time that I didn't have difficulty passing a bowel movement was the week of taking the placebo pills, and I was on my period.
On Avianne, I have 1-2 bowel movements a day. All symptoms of IBS have disappeared. The other symptoms of Yasmin are starting to abate, too.
Finally, if you don't notice any decrease in your sex drive at first while on Yasmin, you will down the road. It's rather insidious and it's no surprise-- if you do the research, you'll discover that the unique progestin component of Yasmin (what's usually associated with decreased sex drive) is 6 times greater than other BC pills.
Hope this helps.

Hello All,
Just an update....I have now been off Yasmin for 5 months (as I suffered terribly whilst on it from Depression, anxiety/panic attacks and elevated heart rate with no history of these symptoms prior to taking it). It has been one very long and hard road...I continue to take one day at a time as I am STILL suffering from anxiety. It has definately gotten better (i have been keeping a diary of my anxiety levels to correlate them to my cycle...there is always a link) but let me tell you, it has been exhausting. Thanks to this poison I have spent hundreds of dollars on seeing a psychologist (although he was worth every cent!) for the first ever time in my life. I also have benefitted from cutting out all white bread, white sugar and caffeine from my diet.
I urge all those women going through withdrawals after getting off Yasmin to post their experiences on this site. There have been days when this site has kept me going.
Yasmin has taken a year from my life. It is pure poison. Prior to this pill, I have NEVER suffered from any form of emotional/mental health issues. I am now about 95% better. I eagerly await the day I am 100% the old me.
Take care all of those out there getting off Yasmin and those going through the 'aftermath'.
PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH and TELL YOUR STORIES...we all need to hear them. After all, it is easy to beleive you are going crazy when something continues to affect you 5 MONTHS after stopping it.
Pharmaceutical companies are going to have a law suit on their hands when the truth of the destruction of Yasmin is made known to the wider community.

I started lisinopril 5mg 7 months ago. Before that I tried Hctz to control my BP. At about the same time I thought I was having trouble with my tonsils (it was a tickle in the throat). I did have a lesion of some sort on a tonsil, the ENT didnt think it was a problem, but I continued to have this choking feeling and cough. So we tried antibiotics which did nothing. After so long I opted to have my tonsils out in Sep '04. No one brought up to me there are side effects on lisinipril like a cough, except a new Pharmacist that I work with. So here I am, hoping to get off this stuff, by doing some exercising, and cutting out salt.....The tonsilectomy was horrible.....(Im 39) and I sure home this feeling in my throat stops!! OH....I also have a lost of taste!! I want to swallow again without this feeling!!! Pray for me.

My new doctor put me on Lipitor and after taking it 5 days I developed a redness and swelling under my left eye. I also felt out of it and went from feeling really good to barely being able to do anythng. I quit taking it immediately and by the next day or so I was my old self. My doctor does not listen to me when I try to explain that I have strange physical reactions to most meds. He wants me to change my medicines, but it took me too long to find the ones I can tolerate. My LDL is not good but I'm exercising (walking) daily for 35-45 minutes and drinking more water, eating oatmeal at breakfast, cutting out all sugar, eating lots of fresh veggies and fruits and I feel better than I've ever felt.
