I had tried Lisinopril 5mgm years ago and hated it. I was depressed and exhausted. More recently another doctor talked me into trying it again. 10 mgm this time and recommended I try taking it at night. I am laying my head on the computer desk at home all the time. I will "last" about 10 hours until my head starts drooping forward. And most recently, I've been too exhausted to chew. Now some might think that's a weight loss tip, but it was awful. I was so hungry, made a sandwich and took almost an hour to eat it because I was too exhausted to chew. I took myself off of lisinopril today. Has anyone else been too exhausted to chew? I almost fell asleep in church today and when I got home took a 5 hour nap (unheard of) and woke up exhausted. I too appreciate this site. If you go to the lisinopril site, they down play the side-effects. I'm a nurse and am not willing to go through this, hoping the side effects would go away. I don't believe they will and these are dangerous effects.

As a Doctor myself I think drugs are NEVER the answer except in EMERGENT issues in Heroic life saving... YOU however and all individuals are and should be MORE accountable for your own health and STOP DEMANDING the Drugs and look to LIFESTYLE changes in DIET and EXERCISE to achieve the GOALS so necessary for quality and quantity of life.... The tools are at your fingertips ... The almighty internet ... And your OWN imaginative mentation is your TRUE limitation... So TAKE control of yourself and BE accountable .... Sorry so blunt but MORE tough love and Educating people is whats needed.... NOT more drugs....

I've always (~40 years) had blood pressure at about 155/60. It seems that my body likes to function at that pressure. A recent severe trauma caused an increase to 200+ systolic requiring emergency treatment. This focused the m.d.'s to prescribe lisinopril to bring me down to their "optimum" ~140 range. 20 mg/day caused a temporary decrease to about 145 for a few days and then some internal readjustment of body chemistry brought the B.P back to 155. I noticed bouts of dry cough many times a day that resulted in chest muscle pains and back pains. Now 40 mg/day is prescribed and the B.P has moved back to ~140 with about twice the severe incidences of dry cough. I'm living on cough drops that offer very little help. Question is, should I trust a group that has a record of multi billion dollar profits relying on scare tactics related to the dangerous effects of high B.P., or rely on what my body is trying to make evident by showing these side effects? These forums should be reviewed by the government for overwhelming evidence of serious drug side effects and the drugs taken off the market.
