I had been on Depo for basically 14 years, I came off of it, got pregnant 3 months later and after the birth went back on it. I had gained a lot of weight with it and had all the side effects plus so when I saw mirena I thought finally something better for me. I had it inserted in aug 2008. Other than painful insertion, like labor delivery contractions the rest of that day and some the next everything was fine. I didn't get my periods back, the only thing I liked about depo, and my weight was coming off and I was actually wanting and enjoying sex again. . A year later, and 15 lbs less, thought I was still doing good. Well I thought maybe my teenage daughter had jinxed me because I was bragging about still not having a period and I started, well a week later I am still having some sort of a period. It's very light and spotty, just when you think it's gone away, well there it is again. I have been noticing vision issues, I figured it was from where I had lasic done several years ago was starting to go but after reading everyone else's posts I think that's not it now. Everything I was experiencing, the back pain, blurry eyes, feeling sad, lower abdominal pain, I made an excuse for until now. I have recently started to loose my sex drive again. I hadn't had any, or so I thought, problems until several weeks ago. My problem is I can't take the pill, I don't want the depo back because of the side effects, the patch won't work for me so I am not sure what is left for me to take, I saved up for this and put so much money into it and now after reading everyone else's post realize that this BC is not for me either.

My 9 year old daughter got her first shot in Dec. 2008 and her second in Feb. and the last in June. We have have been to the doctor a lot of times due to headaches with the doctor's opinion being that it's "allergies". She is now on allergy shots with still no relief from the headaches. I listened to her pediatrician and got her the shots. I feel so bad now after reading all the problems others are having with this vaccine. She also has had a change in her attitude aggression, moodiness, cries often, and she says she's depressed. If anybody has any suggestions for us please let me know. I love my little girl and know I'm worried.

I had a daughter on Dilantin for at least nine years, she had swollen gums, bleeding of the gums, she was still having seizures, stayed congested most of the time. Dr. said the swelling and bleeding was one of the side affects. Was told that the dilantin was having affect on her liver and they was weening her off the dilantin. she would also go through insomnia, temper tantrums. she also had a rash like measle in her face and had genital problems.

Since my daughter second gardasil shot she has become tired all the time, she passed out on November 10 and was taken to the doctor. She orderd an EKG, chest xray and blood work. They called me that night and said she has an irregular slow heart beat ( which she has never had before). We went to a heart specialist the next day, he did an echo cardiogram and said things looked fine. If she passed out again, for me to call him and he sent us on our way. Tonight, while she was walking at work, it happend again. We went to E.R. and basically were told to follow up with her doctors on Monday. She is supposed to get the third shot in December, now i am afraid for her to get it. Im wondering if her suddenly getting the slow irregular heart beat, and passing out, irregular period, and headache is connected to the Gardasil. She is 17 and a senior in High School, she was planning on going to college, but now she is afraid to be alone, drive, or do anything that typical teenagers do.

My daughter is 18 months old. She has a bad ear infection that doctor thinks that it is lingering since it has started a month ago. Omnicef was her 3rd dose of antibiotics that we tried after amoxicillin and augmentin. After her 2nd dose she started getting red in her cheeks and had loose bowels, after 4th dose she was covered with hives and rash all over her body, worst on her cheeks. After taking her to the doctors office, we were told that she has allergic reaction to omnicef. She was given benadryl (4x 1tspn per day),doctor said it might take a week for the rash to disappear and for the ear infection she was prescribed with zithromax ( 1tspn per day for 3 days). If anybody has experience with this kind of problem, I would appreciate some feedback.

My six year old daughter has been on Singulair since she was one. She has bad stomach pains, headaches, mood swings, not being able to do school work and anger. I had thought about taking her to see a therapist. I didn't know what to do about her anger and mood swings. After reading everyone else's post, I feel like that it really could be the Singulair. I have taken her off of Singulair. I will not put her back on it. I pray that she will feel better soon.

Oh my god!!!! My poor daughter. My daughter Karilynn has been taking this drug for about 8 months now. She is 2 1/2 years old now. All of the sudden she had a drastic change in behavior, sleep and eating patterns. She began with sleep problems. She would wake up in the middle of the night screaming that the green monsters were after her. I chocked it up to night terrors that weren't explained. Then she started waking up screaming that her "bottom" hurt but would point to her stomach. She quit eating, cried all the time, started acting out randomly. My little girl who had never had discipline problems started randomly hitting and biting me. It wasn't even when I would discipline her for something. She would literally come up and bite me out of no where. She throws huge tantrums now. The daycare lady even asked me if something was going on at home because she was doing strange things there also. Not knowing what was wrong (but trusting my mother instinct that there was SOMETHING wrong) I started to think that maybe she was being abused. The night mares, the random pain.... I even had a breif moment where I thought my grandmother was hurting her. I want to throw up thinking about that now. I took her to the pediatrician, who ran every test imaginable to "rule out any physical reason" that could be causing all of these symptoms at once. Test after test came back negative. I actually have the number to the psychologist that does "play therapy" sitting in front of me because we were seriously terrified that someone was hurting her. Little did I know it was us!!!! I called tha asthma dr. yesterday after seeing the news story and he told me that my concerns weren't really valid and that it sounded like she was being a "typical" two year old. That really made me angry. After reading all of these accounts there is very little doubt in my mind that it is the medicine. It all makes sense now. Halleluah if it is such a simple fix!!! I was worried my daughter was being ABUSED!!!! What an unimaginable feeling for any parent!! I quit the singulair last night against the asthma doctors "urging" and gave the daycare lady a heads up. Its sad to say but I pray this is all that is wrong with my little girl!!! If someone files a class action suit please let me know. Also if there is anything more I can do to make sure someone else doesn't go through this let me know!!!!!

I have been reading all of the responses for a few days now. My 9 year old son has been on Singular for a few years now. I took him off Singular on Friday night. He has always been my moody and difficult one - not bad, he was very sensitive. He was hard to wake up in the morning for school. He was often grumpy and would cry at the drop of a hat. Some days he was more pleasant than others, but we never knew what would set him off. Some days he could be downright nasty. Little things would get under his skin and annoy him - especially anything his younger brothers did! He would cry for no reason and when asked would say, "I down know why I am crying, I just don't know."

When he woke up on Sunday morning, he was different - much happier and easy going. Throughout the day we saw a different child. He has gotten up each morning without complaint, got ready for school, packed his bag, and got a snack for the day. When he couldn't find his school bag, he didn't flip out and blame everyone else (which would have been the normal reaction.) Instead, he found it by himself! He is no longer arguing about everything. He is nice to be around.

I'm still holding my breath and waiting for something to happen. My husband is convinced that Singular has to be the cause - what else would have caused this dramatic shift in his behavior. I want to see how he is over the next few weeks. As each day passes, I am believing more and more that this drug caused these behaviors and getting angrier and angrier

i posted in august but am reposting with more information on how to report your side effects to the FDA .It is a site called Medwatch.com and they want to know these adverse reaactions. We are the people that lost our son to a suicide after he was given this drug for 17 days. Our son was a lovable well adjusted soon to be 16 year old .He had a terrible advers reaction to this drug having extreme anxiety, moodiness, agitation and depression. We did not of course have the proper knowledge about this drug to know that he was having an adverse event. We are working with our local senator and assemblywoman to contact a Dr Malson at the FDA he is the director of research and drug evaluation. The information pamplet from the pharmacy did not mention these side effects or we would have realized what was happening. We are trying to get a black box warning on the drug to let people especially parents of children know exactly what this drug is capable of.TAKE ACTION AND CONTACT THE FDA THIS IS HOW A DRUG GETS REEVALUATED!We wish we had found this site while our beautiful boy was still alive .Our child had a normal life and no emotional problems and after taking this poison he had a complete psychological breakdown, the address to writ aletter to tell your story is Steven K.Malson,MD,MPH Director Center For Drug Evaluation and Research Food and Drug Administration 5600 Fishers Lane Rockville, Maryland 20857. PLEASE HELP THIS DRUG NEEDS SPECIAL LABELING

My daugther has been off and on singulair for about a year or so. We recently started it again, along with a whole bunch of other medications, because her asthma flared up really badly. She recently completed a course of prednisone - during that treatment she was especially moody/hostile, but the behavior seems to be continuing even after we stopped the prednisone.

Granted she's on a ton of medicines right now - xopenex, zyrtec, rhnyotan (a prescription decongestant), pennicillin and singulair. But, I am wondering if singulair is making matters worse. And, maybe it's just reading these posts, but I'm looking back on the last three weeks or so, when the asthma flare up began, and I am wondering if the singulair is a bigger problem than we thought. I'd say her behavrior has trended downward since the flare up began and we started the singulair again. Of course, at the same time, we also started with xopenex treatments a couple of times a day.

Anyway, to make a long story longer, I can't pin this on singulari, but I am surprised at some of the complaints I'm reading here - and how similar they are to our concerns. Our daughter wakes up a couple of times at night now, screaming; she is moody/hostile, has no energy, says her stomach/tushie hurts, complains about leg pains every now and then and lately says her eyes itch really badly. I'm calling the pediatrician and allergist tomorrow.

my 4 year old daugther was on zyrtec for almost a year, she has inlarged tonsils and allergic to dust, the whole time she was on it she snored so bad you could hear her in the other room, and had bouts where i believed she wasnt breathing, the doctors wanted to remove her tonsils.the whole time she was on it she still had runny nose and the docs told me to take her off zyrtec if i felt it wasnt helping, after i took her off it within a few days her snoring stopped,i totally believed she was allergic to the zyrtec and it bothers me no doctor figured this out and i hope this dosent cause her any long term problems, her tonsils havent been red anymore either.no more snoring and i have chosen to keep her tonsils..

This past November I got the flu, as did my husband and daugther. The day after Thanksgiving I started to have some difficulty breathing. I went to the doctor and they prescribed an inhaler for me, which did nothing. I went back to the dr. again and she prescribed an anxiety medication and combivent and told me that it was just anxiety. Why would she prescribed combivent (which is strictly used for COPD) if I supposedly just had anxiety? I went to another doctor and he informed me that I had pneumonia and broken ribs. He prescribed prednisone and Advair. Since taking Advair the quality of my life has gone downhill tremendously. I have gained upwards of 30 pounds, have a swollen (and painful) stomach, have lost my voice (I cannot speak above a whisper), I'm having excruciating pain in my right hip joint, it hurts if I put any weight on the heels of my feel, and my back is killing me. Advair has not helped me in ANY way. It has not helped my breathing, in fact, it's made it worse.

When I informed my doctor of this he acted like I was crazy. He said it was completely safe and that I had nothing to worry about. So, I went to a pulmonologist...and he told me to stay on the Advair also! Even though they're aware of the fact that it hasn't helped me! I found it ironic that someone stated on here that they thought the dr.'s might be getting a kickback for prescribing it, because I thought the exact same thing!

I have been off of Advair for 4 days now and there has been no improvment. I called the company that makes Advair and the woman I spoke with said she was "in shock" that the dr.'s kept me on that medication with the side effects I'm having. According to her, 5% of people using Advair will experience "hoarsness," which is a grand understatement...it's more like loss of voice. She said she was filing a report with the FDA and we would receive a copy of it. When I asked her if this could have caused permanent damage, she was honest with me. According to her there is now a study for people who have been on Advair for 2 years, then off of it for a year, and they still have their symptoms. She also said that the study stated that there was no difference between long-term use and short-term use. Which basically means that it doesn't matter if you've been on it for 2 months or 2 years, if you're going to have a reaction...you'll have it.

I'm praying this isn't permanent. I'm only 37 and this is miserable to have to deal with while running my business and taking care of my family.
