I was prescribed a 10 day course of 400mg Avelox for a persistent sinus infection that failed to respond to a 9 day course of Augmentin. The first day I took it I had no side effects except for a fleeting pain in my right knee which I had injured many months before. The second day I started feeling slight pains in my other joints in my shoulders, elbows, and wrists. They were very mild so I ignored them and continued to take Avelox. The third and fourth day I started experiencing nausea which lasted approx 2 hours after taking Avelox. On the 5th day I started getting tremors 30 mins after taking Avelox, I felt like my body was coming apart from the inside. That night I felt on edge the whole night like I was about to have a panic attack at any midnight. I woke up in the middle of the night with chest pains. The next day I called my doctor and requested that he switch me to another antibiotic. Its been 4 days since I last took Avelox and I feel almost normal again except for the pain in joints all over my body which I hope will fade with time. Please think twice before you take this medication when there are so may other alternatives out there. If you do decide to take it be very careful and make sure you're not alone for the two hours after you take it. Don't be afraid to question your doctor if you have any concerns. I would never take this drug again unless I it was the last resort.

Does anyone know if Singulair can cause heart valve problems? I just found out that I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, and have never had any problems until after taking Singulair. Any info would be greatly appreciated...especially from Concerned Citizen if he's out there...

Thanks,

K.

I had Mirena inserted in Feb. 2007 and it was the most painful experience of my lif (and I have 2 children). I cramped and bled for weeks. All of which I was told was normal. I would have sharp pains that would come and go as well. On or about December 17, 2007 I was having terrible pains and became nauseated and was vomiting uncontrollably. I told my husband something was wrong and that I needed to go to the hospital. As he was trying to get the kids ready to bring me to the hospital I fell on the floor in pain and could not walk. My husband called the ambulance to have them bring me to the hospital. When I got there they thought I had a stomach virus or a ruptured appendix. After completing an MRI they found that the MIRENA was lodged in my fallopian tube and I needed to have emergency surgery to have it removed. I had to wait in agony and pain until the next day for them to perform the surgery and I am still recovering. DO NOT GET MIRENA!!

We need to file a class action suit to get this product off the market. It is harmful and they lie and say there is a less than .1% chance of this happening which just isn't true.

Thanks everyone for the info. I have had the Mirena in place since December 17, 2007. My side effects have not been too bad, just abnormal spotting and occasional crampiness. My husband recently told me that he has been having a pain during intercourse. He said it feel as though a needle is poking the head of his penis. I thought he was crazy and told him I would check into it. After reading the postings on this website it all kind of makes since. I cry and get upset for no reason, and I am not normally an emotion person. I have hot flashes and I am only 25 years old. I just had my second child and thought maybe it was just my hormones that haven't returned to normal yet, but after reading this information I am kind of freaked out. I think I will call my doctor right away. Why can't they make birth control for men?

I went to my doctor on Monday December 17, 2007, because I was experiencing a fever, chest congestion, with an extremely painful cough. He gave me 7 sample blister packs of Levaquin 500mg, and a sample Pulmicort Flexhaler 180mcg. He also prescribed a cough medicine for night time if I needed it. He said I had bronchitis or a possible pneumonia he couldn’t hear. I also used a nebulizer with Abutrual.

On December 23, 2007 I awoke with the most intense pain I have ever experienced. My wrists, finger, toe, elbows, knees and ankle joints all hurt. My muscles in my legs and back burned. My hands, fingers, feet, toes, and shins felt like they were “asleep” or the worst pins and needles ever.

My husband went online and found out that is was most likely caused by the Levaquin. And thankful I was taking TWO steroids! So when I called the company that makes Levaquin they told me to stay in bed! When I asked them how long this could last they said 1 week to two months.

As of today, the pain in my fingers, toes, wrists, elbows, ankles and knees, which is like tendinitis is mild to moderate. The burning in my muscles in my legs and back is still intense. The “pins and needles” is affecting mostly my hands and feet and my left leg from the knee down. I also still have a deep pain under booth knees. I have also experienced a periodic facial twitch on the left side, below the eye about 1.5 inches.

I am weak, and completely unable to get around do to the pain in my legs and feet. I am furious that my doctor prescribed a medication that could cause these problems without warning me, as samples do not come with warnings. I feel disabled, angry, and would like to know what I am supposed to do now!! Has anyone found anything that helps with the pain?
