I just want to say how happy I found this site. I'm not alone! I thought I was going crazy or that my body was shutting down completely. I had my mirena put in Sept. 2006 and my body has become something I don't even recognize. I am extremely bloated all the time and it hurts every time I eat and use the bathroom. I keep on thinking maybe I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but it doesn't make any sense because the symptoms showed up after I had the Mirena put in. I thought it might be food sensitivities so I got tested and have been trying to cut those foods out but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have tried all sorts of natural remedies but it never seems to go away.

I have gained 40 pounds since I the Mirena put in even though I have never have had weight gain problems before, I eat healthy and I am active. I also have a difficult time concentrating and focusing on anything. I also get dizziness, depression, irritability and mood swings. I also have been experiencing a sharp pulling or stinging in my uterus at times as well as joint pain (especially in my hips, knees) and painful intercourse with bleeding afterwards. My hair is also falling out and I have lost my desire for sex.

I've also noticed a drastic decline in my immune system. I have never been as sick as I have been in the last three years of my life. I seem to always be getting sick. For the first three months after the Mirena was inserted I had frequent bouts of yeast infections, bladder infections and still three years later I have these types of infections frequently. Not only this but I seem to catch everything that is going around when before the Mirena I hardly ever got sick.

Finally after reading the posts on this site I can trace all the changes in my body to when I had my Mirena put in. I am so upset that I have been suffering for 3 yrs with these side effects and it has taken until now for me to figure out that the Mirena doesn't just effect your uterus it effects your WHOLE body. I cant believe I trusted the doctor I went to when I had it put in that said that the hormones would only affect my uterus. NEVER, NEVER USE THIS PRODUCT!! It is coming out as soon as I can have it done! Please ladies if you know what it is like to have it removed let me know.

I was put on Topamax for extreme migraines about 6 months ago... Started up slowly with 25mgs to 50mgs to 75mgs daily and now I am taking 100mgs (50 in the morning and 50 at night). Topamax did the job in taking my everyday headaches away but I still continue to get the very painful and extreme migraines that last 304 days.

I did have extreme tingling in the hands and feet for the first month but that soon tapered off. As far as my appetite - I never really lost that and my weight has stayed the same.

After reading all of your posts I can take a deep breath and believe that I am NOT crazy. I have begun to think so because of Topamax. I am constantly anxious (and being an over anxious person to begin with this is not good), my mood swings are horrible - I am a total bitch to my boyfriend, and my mind just does not seem as clear as it once was - struggling to come up with the simplest of words....

I feel like Topamax has made me very paranoid and has set me into a depressed state. It is just not worth it. There are many OTHER drugs out there that can deal with migraines - and trust me I know they are painful, but I am much more willing to get myself back than continue to deal with these side effects for the sake of getting rid of a migraine (which isn’t always the case for me).

After switching doctors (from the one who had put me on this drug to begin with) - she is helping me wean off Topamax and wants me to explore other options.

Has anyone experienced weaning off this drug before - how are the side effects? And will I ever be myself again?

Over the past few months, I have been experiencing a variety of very bothersome symptoms and after trying to think of what medications I have recently started, the only two that I could come up with were Omeprazole and Celebrex. My symptoms are these: I have difficulty getting a "deep" breath. When I Iay down to sleep at night, I feel like I can hardly breathe. My face and neck are very swollen. I wake up in the morning with bright red cheeks and hot to the touch. I am extremely tired and depressed lately but have just thought that it was because of my increasingly bad health (chronic lower back pain and burning pain in my legs that has not "let up" for nearly 12 years now. I have recently gone on disability and this has been a very depressing experience for me after having worked and enjoyed working my entire life since I graduated high school). However, the extreme lethargy and depression I have been feeling has just been for about the past 6 to 9 months, and I started taking Omeprazole approximately November 2008. Other symptoms are swollen legs and feet....when I am out on a very hot summer day, my fingers become so swollen that by the time I get home, I cannot remove my rings from my fingers! I have begun to wake up in the morning with the most debilitating leg cramps! I have to hop out of bed and walk around to make them stop. My hip bones hurt so bad sometimes that I can hardly stand it! I have pain all over my body...it feels like it's in my bones. My joints are swollen and painful....I can hardly lift my leg and bend my knees to even get into my shower. My feet feel numb sometimes. I just ache all over! By the way.....I am a female...53 years old. Please.....has anyone else out there experienced any of these symptoms and have attributed them either to Omeprazole or Celebrex?? I feel like I'm about to lose my mind (by the way...that's another side effect I just thought of...I have a terrible time concentrating or focusing on anything! My paperwork is so backed up that soon the creditors will be after me!). But I just feel like I could lay down and sleep away the entire day and not give it a second thought. It is taking all the energy I have just to commit to typing out this posting! PLEASE HELP!! HAS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SIDE EFFECTS I HAVE AND ARE BLAMING IT ON OMEPRAZOLE (OR CELEBREX?). I am on a variety of medications because of 3 failed back surgeries, however, these are the only 2 medications that I have RECENTLY begun taking. THANKS FOR ANY HELP THAT ANYONE CAN GIVE ME!!

i have been miserable taking these pills..first week of 2nd pack..couldn't figure out why my boobs were killing me in the first pack and then the debilitating fatigue (i am going to lose my job if this keeps up--i come home at lunch and can't do anything but sleep for an hour! in addition, as soon as i get home at 5 i have to rest again,.so not me and so NOT able to continue this way)..i also have had 2 weeks of major headaches with the first 2 characterized as the worst i can ever remember. I am not a person who has issues like this...I am 41 and never been on BC. I started because the older i get the worse the periods and pms are and longer...heavier, more intense moodiness and pain. I am convinced as of tonight that i think i rather have all that back. I can't do this. I left a message for my doctor after reading 2 days worth of blogs now i know its not a flu, pregnancy or the 'weather'. I was also having hard time breathing (felt like i couldn't get a deep breath so i had to really inhale and i looked like i was having an attack..i thought it was the humidity here in the NE...now i know thats from these damn pills). I also did not get my period the first brown pills till the Sunday i started my new pack and it lasted only a day.
If i didn't read this site, i was convinced something major was going on like a brain tumor or something. i need to get off these pills.

I'm very happy to have found this forum! I've had asthma for 25 years now. I was given Advair 250/50 when my Dr. noted that I'd been using my rescue inhaler way too much, about 5-7 times/day. That was 5 years ago. My asthma symptoms were immediately improved. I could take a deep breath for the first time in a year, and after a couple months was almost completely off the Albuterol. However... the last few years (especially the last year) have been not so good. My friend finally put 2 and 2 together after I was complaining (yet again) of feeling run down and having another throat infection (the fourth this year). She told me to check the info for the meds I'm currently on, which led me here. My symptoms are as follows: about 2-3 years ago, I experienced the hair loss and mood swings (severe) and anxiety. Then I started getting recurring tonsil infection, laryngitis, joint pain and constant "rundown" feeling. I've had full blown Pneumonia twice in the last three years. I never had any of this before I started taking Advair. I constantly have some sort of low-grade infection. I was considering removing my tonsils (which was why I was complaining to my friend). Now, I'm trying to figure out if I should try to just quit cold turkey or gradually. I know my asthma symptoms will return, but at this point-which is worse? The problem or the "solution".

Well I went to the doctors today and they gave me a regular pap after that they told me I could get up and get dressed I thought well you have not taken that Mirena out yet my doctor came back in to talk to me I told her my side effects she said it had nothing to do with the Mirena and that the people on this site didn't know what they were talking about! Ha I said well Im having all those symptoms and want to have it removed she almost yelled at me and said "WELL IF YOU WANT IT OUT GET UP ON THE TABLE RIGHT NOW AND I'LL TAKE IT OUT" I was almost scared to but I got up on the table and she came back in the room ALONE and got prepared I asked her if it was going to hurt she said no so she told me to take a deep breath and she yanked it out it felt like she pulled my fallopian tube with her it hurt so bad She said there it's out see I felt dizzy for about 10 seconds then started cramping some more but at least it's gone after that she handed me some birth control told me to start it today and walked out the room crazy right? Ill post again in a few months to fill in in how im doing anyone out there considering the Mirena please take a while to think about what you are doing I thought I knew but had no idea!!

I'm on Lisinopril-HCTZ and have been for not even a month and I'm having those coughing spells so desperately, that I almost pass out. I can't stop coughing all day and night, now another doctor says I have asthma, but I don't think I do. I think its the adverse effects of this medication. I can't eat because it feels as though my esophagus is closing up all the time, I've been living on soup mostly since I started these meds, otherwise I can't swallow. I have to get off this medication because its causing decreased lung capacity already and I've only been on it two weeks!

I took Yaz for a couple months and was fine during that; however, about a month ago my doctor switched me to Yasmin(I have been on BC for years however, the ortho brand). I've been in the most pain in the past month than I ever have and I'm usually pretty good with pain and just try to take advil or something... but the symptoms have only gotten worse. I finally decided to google my symptoms and I found a lot of people on Yasmin had very similar symptoms. I have the worst anxiety like there's a lump in my throat and sometimes I'm literally grasping for air and I always try to drink a lot of water or cough or eat or burp to make it go away but it doesn't until I wake up the next day (sometimes). Also, I have never ever experience migraines in my life, but the past month I have the worst headaches imaginable. It happens at least 4 times a week; at first I thought they were caffeine headaches because it would sometimes help, but the past 3 days my headache has pretty much been constant (usually located near my temples/eyes). I take probably 8 Ibuprofin a day and drink an excessive amount of caffeine hoping it will make it go away, but it doesn't. Along with these problems I've been feeling lightheaded more often and usually have to sit down immediately or else I feel like I'm going to faint. The biggest/scariest symptom is my heartbeat and chest pain. Heart disease is extremely dominant on my moms side and almost all of her siblings have already had at least one heart attack. Lately my chest will hurt extremely bad, then I feel like my heart rate is just freaking out; I can feel my heartbeat from anywhere on my body and it's very intense. And then because of all of this going on, I always start to freak out and realize i'm getting extremely anxious so I try to make myself take deep breaths but nothings works. The past 4 nights I've been up til like 4 a.m. because my heart rate is so high and my chest hurts so bad in every position I try to lay in that I'm constantly moving. I never thought about going to the doctor because I thought it would get better but now I'm starting to think I should... I'm just wondering if anyone else has/had any of these problems from this medicine and if you've done anything to get rid of them.

(a couple other minor symptoms I've noticed recently are: joint pain and rapid memory loss (I'll be in the middle of a sentence and completely forget what I was talking about and blank out))

I had Mirena inserted 3 weeks ago. Since then, I have a strange fluttering in the center of my chest and mild pain when I breathe. I also feel nervous at times when I'm resting. I am considering getting Mirena removed.

I am a 52 year young female with sudden onset of high blood pressure. Was seen by a Cardiologist and given the usual tests such as EKG, treadmill, and so on. My tests were fine and he put me on Lisinopril HCTZ 20-25mg. After taking this medication for one week my blood pressure was within normal limits however my pulse races at times and I must sit down until it passes. I have been experiencing pain in upper back when taking a deep breath and mild chest discomfort. Further tests are underway to determine if I am having lung problems such as pulmonary hypertension. Has anyone had similar symptoms? Thank you

I have taken this drug for 4 nights, as prescribed. It is for GERD caused by RA medications and stress. It seemed to help for two nights, then I started feeling worse, back to the same feelings I had previously. I have difficulty being able to take a "deep" breath and I had terrible nightmares last night. I woke up and was feeling extremely depressed all day and had no energy at all. I think I will have to stop taking this before I get even worse.

I just quit YAZ. I too thought it was great at first. Raved about it. Not sure if it was working or if just the promise of the potential benefits that made me think that. I have a history of Lupus symptoms that I am only now tying together. I was feeling SO BAD that I started researching lupus and found that it can exasperate the symptoms. i was having heart palpitations lasting for nearly 20 minutes, shortness of breath doing small tasks, inability to take a deep breath, NON EXISTENT sex drive, SEVERE depression, and the last straw was the constipation/diarrhea cycle. i too had slurred, stuttered speach...but did not correlate the two until reading comments. my motor skills seemed to be effected. doing what i absolutely needed to do in a day was all i could manage. this may be a combination of factors coming into play, but there IS NO DOUBT that the timing of me starting this pill corresponded with the exasperation of these symptoms. i quit less than a month ago. hopefully things will improve. doctors need to take more precaution in perscribing this. my doctor was new to me and was quick to perscribe, no hesitation. i encourage you to insist on lots of tests before trying this. check your liver, kidney, potassium...be sure, then try at your own risk.

Man, I feel like a woman!! I got that terrible IUD out today! Not joking when I say as it left my body, it was almost like my old self re-entered!! I can't wait to see how much my body changes inside & out! If your having depression, low tolerance, no sex drive, seeing things, and all the other effects it puts you through, GET IT OUT!!
It is seriously hardly painful, as soon as you take a deep breath in, it's out just like that, go ahead take a quick deep breath in-that's how fast it is. No tears, not even eye watering!! Good luck to all of that still have it, but please get it out before it ruins you and everyone else around you!!

~God Bless

I was having problems taking a deep breath. I have had light asthma since i was a kid, very controllable. In late Nov. or early Dec., it was suggested I take Advair. I was already having lower back difficulties. The middle of Dec. I began experiencing muscle pain in my arms, chest and back. I have had little to no appetite and have been nauseous to the point of gagging. I began thinking that it was hard to swallow and I actually at times thought that my voice sounded weird, guess what that is a side effect also. I have had irregular heart beating, high blood pressure. This all lead to anxiety and depression. I also felt like my insides were extremely shaky. I can tell you this I WILL NEVER TAKE ADVAIR AGAIN!!! I can't wait for it to completely get out of my body.

Okay! I wrote once before about my side effects. Its been about two weeks and i just got my mirena removed today. I thought i'd keep you guys posted on my recovery. So far, the removal didn't not hurt a bit. He said take a deep breath and exhale and then he pulled it out! I have had a little more dizzy spells, and some brownish discharge. I already feel a bit more energetic and happy go lucky. I just hope i continue to recover. If anything else changes or i have the "crash" some are talking about, i'll be sure to let y'all know all about it!

I never have the side effects that other people have. I am allergic to a lot of antibiotics but can take this one. It always clears up my infections with no problems. I always drink the extra fluid they recommend while taking it. I am not sure if this is what helps. Also, there is a warning that people over 60 are more likely to have side effects. So if you are over 60 maybe this is not the med for you. I am grateful that this medication exists.

I was just on the 13 day dexpak, and stopped taking it after 7 days. I have never come so close to dying in my life! Please people, be careful of what you take! My worst day was 6 days into meds, whn that night my throat started closing off, the worst heartburn I've ever had, and couldn't take a deep breath to save my life.I was so bloated I thought I would explode. When I tried to lay down, I felt so much pressure in my head and eyes, I thought I was bursting inside.I have been off the meds for 2 days now, and my throat is red as fire with strings of white dead skin hanging in the back. It hurts so bad I still can't eat much, and it's still almost swole shut! I'm dizzy to the point of feeling drunk and sweating my tail off! I have the feeling that if they took my blood sugar now, it would be off the charts, and guess what? I DON'T HAVE DIABETIES!!! But I might now! If I'm no better in the morning, I'm off to the doctor. Please be careful what you take, doctors are not gods and can make mistakes too! pay attention to what your body tells you about a med!

I started using the NuvaRing close to two months ago. About a week after I inserted the Ring, I developed a cough that has not gone away. I have never before had allergies, but also now have either constant nasal stuffiness or drainage and a hard time taking a deep breath. I live in Tennessee, so it is possible that I have developed allergies, but it is quite a coincidence that this has all happened after beginning the NuvaRing. I have also had weight gain which is unusual for me. I am a petite person, eat healthy and exercise at least five days a week. Needless to say, I have hit a number on the scale that I have never seen before. This is only in about 7 weeks!! This is frustrating as is the lack of interest in sex. I could actually care less which is very unusual for me. Other side effects that I have noticed are headaches, softened bowel movements and my husband has felt the insert during sex. I will say that my mood swings have gotten a little better, so at least I am not dealing with that. I return to my doctor next month and am unsure right now what I am going to do. I hope there is a better option for me.

Started Lisinopril on April 7, by June 28, could not get a deep breath when I needed it, like when you yawn....went to a pulmonary doc and he took me off the lisinopril that my primary dr. had given me because he said it had ace inhibitors in it and was interfering with an enzyme in my throat. He said would take about six weeks for this to get out of my system, I only have 6 days left, does anyone know how long it takes to get out of your system.

I was prescribed the 4mg methylprednisolone pack along with 50 mg tramadol for acute tendinitis in my wrist. I took the first 3 days of the prednisone and only 2 doses of the tramadol over the three days. For a total of 60 mg of prednisone.

The first day I had hot flashes and insomnia but attributed it to the tramadol because I had never taken it before and had taken the prednisone several years ago for poison ivy with no adverse reactions. I didn't take the tramadol the second night and then took it again last night along with my daily dose of prednisone. I had extreme difficulty falling asleep, heart burn, hot flashes; and tossed and turned all night trying to fall asleep. At around 2am, I began to have difficulty breathing, tightening in my chest, confusion, and racing thoughts. It felt as though my throat was closing up on me. My anxiety progressed to the point that I was pacing back and forth. I woke my husband up and told him to prepare to take me to the ER. After calling my insurance's 24 hour help line, it was recommended that I go to the ER. I had an x-ray, blood work, urine drug screen, and echocardiogram. Luckily, everything was negative. The ER doctor told me that I likely had a reaction to the prednisone and commented that some people will experience these symptoms when taking it. He stated that he had a similar reaction when he took it and it felt like he was climbing the walls, which is an accurate description of my experience that night. He recommended that I either stop taking it altogether or call my primary care provider and cut it down. He prescribed me xanax and administered some to me at the ER which greatly helped. The next day I stopped taking the pred but am still having dizziness, chest tightness, hot flashes, and mental dullness. I have decided to never take this medication again. Fortunately, I don't have any of the physical sx that some have experienced, and my heart goes out to you. I think the mental symptoms were traumatic enough for me and can't imagine having both as I would be a basket case. I have mood swings, some melancholia, and am very fatigued.

I think it is imperative to research any medication that is prescribed to you before you take it. Many providers will say that side effects are rare, but my experience is that side effects are more common than rare. My prayers go out to those of you who are going through what I am going through. I hope that it clears our systems quickly because this is no way to live. I'd rather put up with the pain of tendinitis or carpel tunnel than to have these symptoms.

I started taking 10 mg. of Lisinopril on July 8, 2008. At first, I experienced extreme fatigue and weakness. However, this wore off after a few days. The dosage was increased to 20 mg. on July 21, 2008. I started having horrible symptoms on July 29, 2008: rapid pulse (as high as 118 b.p.m. while I was quietly reading), heaviness in my chest (which felt worse after I exercised), and shortness of breath. I had never felt so bad before in my entire life!!! I suffered with these symptoms until August 15, 2008 because I was hoping that they were just temporary. Unfortunately, they only got worse the longer that I waited. It is such a shame, too, because Lisinopril really did a good job of keeping my b.p. down.

This is the third day that I haven't taken Lisinopril, and I am feeling a little better. I am now on Metoprolol, which is helping with my rapid pulse. For those of you who experienced breathing problems while taking Lisinopril: How long did it take before your breathing returned to normal?

I started Singulair in Jan this year.....breathing got much easier but started gaining weight with no changes in eating habits or activity levels....tons of tummy problems...quit taking it in May...starting having to rely more on my rescue inhalator more than recommended so I went back on. Now I'm having paranormal experiences....some psychotic episodes....compulsive obsessive behaviors...major off the wall dreams that continue after I wake up and go back to sleep. All in all I wonder which is worse....not getting a good deep breath or having to live in misery to be able to breathe....Thanks for letting me vent. There must be some other solution.
