18 year old female, first day on Zoloft...in contrast to everyone else, I had TOO much sleep on Zoloft...first night, did have a nightmare, but slept like a baby and kept wanting to sleep...anxiety seemed low after I first took it, but in the morning anxiety levels were the same (high). Don't wish to take it anymore because it seems to put me in such a deep sleep I can't get up...

I started taking zyrtec a few days ago for seasonal allergies. I had tried the claritin (loratidine) before and it didn't seem to really help me much. I was avoiding the zyrtec because I knew it could potentially make me drowsy and I didn't want to be tired if I was working. I'm a pharmacist so I decicded to try it knowing the potential side effects. It works really well for me - but I started having really vivid strange - and disturbing - dreams. It has only been a week and they havent been too bad so far - but I am going to monitor it and if they get worse I will stop and try something else. The reason this is so strange is I don't normally dream much at all. I maybe remember bits and pieces of a dream - these are wierd and strange and make absolutely no sense. These dreams seem so real and are so clear - I can remember every detail of what was done and said.

I have been taking 100 mg twice a day for less than a week. What I first noticed was seeing dark spots on the wall. Other side effects have been------dizzy, depressed, nausea, lightheaded, shortness of breath, sudden weight gain(5 lbs), swollen hands and feet, uneasy feeling in my chest. I am 58 years old and had been taking Norvasc for over 10 years ---- MD decided I should change to metropol. After reading this page and after how I have been feeling for over 3 days, I am not taking this med ever again. FDA should not allow this med to be prescribed.

I have had migraines since I was very young -- I'm 28 now. I currently take Topamax daily as preventative and the Imitrex is only used when I have a headache at night to help me sleep. I'm surprised to hear people taking this drug daily..my doc has me under the impression it is only for when you have a migraine, not as preventative. Anyway, I have NO SIDE EFFECTS at all from the Imitrex. It not only gets rid of my pain and allows me to sleep, but it actually helps me sleep throughout the whole night without waking up -- deep sleep. I love it, but it's so expensive, so I use it sparingly.

Is anyone experiencing confusion, trouble thinking, trouble concentrating, decreased cognitive function, mental sluggishness, trouble solving problems or situations which require logical thinking and sequencing, and memory loss? Would love to hear from anyone experiencing any these symptoms and if so, how long were you on the drug.
Thanks!

Initially, my doc told me to take 300mg every am, initially 150mg for a wk,then increase the dose to 300mg total, 150am/pm. Had the initial wt loss of 5-7lbs, also had headache the first week, insomnia, awake almost 18hrs a day, little rested sleep and constipation.
I continued with xanax, docs didn't want this, Rx'd Remeron, that didn't do anything the 1st night, 2nd night bad sleep with vivid dreams of being buried semi alive with other people and having dirt tossed onto us. we were too weak to climb out of the ditch. Too much news these days. 3rd night w Remeron awake all night, 4th night, nothing, continued Wellbutrin. Remeron was started about 2 wks into the Wellbutrin dose.
I was out of Wellbutrin because the pharmacy would not refill due to insurance and I had to get a new Rx because of the increase in the dose.60 pills you figure. MD rx'd a "purple" buproprion, took 1 of them, stopped that immediately because of the nasty nicotinic taste and my tongue felt burned also. Got another rx for the previous bupropion 150mg to be taken twice daily. I had been off the white (first)pill for about 7-14 days by then.
Restarted white 150mg, again the headache, ear ringing, decreased appetite and agitation stimulus, insomnia and beginning to get fatigued from lack of deep sleep. I have an underlying very serious resp condition that this medication began to make worse because of the above symptoms. All of the above symptoms gradually worsened by the days I continued to take this medication. I began to have nausea and could not even think about taking anymore of the buproprion, the thought of it made me ill. I was rx'd it for depression, I am not a smoker, never have been, don't use illicit drugs and am a Registered Nurse.
It began to incapacitate me as I had no interest in anything, I felt weak from the anorexia, insomnia and dehydration, urine was becoming dark yellow. couldn't stand to have anything in my stomach. I had to throw away food, also.
I began having bilateral jaw pain, felt exhausted and had trouble with fine motor skills, was restless/agitated and very constipated. I had to force myself to eat. I took this med for approximately 3 months, but it never did reach the "therapeutic" stage of 4 wks total until the last month because of the Rx interruptions. I stopped it cold because, the jaw soreness was from bruxism or teeth grinding/clenching and I began having large muscles pains and smaller muscle(eye) twitching, I had itching all over , stinging sensations like little fire crackers in my calves, and all previous sore spots became irritated and inflammed. Stopping this med suddenly is only for the brave and you need other meds to get through the withdrawal. It's supposed to have a 33hr half life. It took 1 month for this junk to get out of my system. I felt better the first few days as I was able to eat, drink and get a better sleep. I had to take xanax for sleep, motrin, tramadol, aspirin alternate with motrin, tylenol XS for the muscle pains. zantac, benedryl for the stomach acidity along with Tums. I requested an Rx for Compazine supp. didn't use initially although had bad nausea, it progressed to vomiting for over a week atleast once daily or for some reason at night. I took prednisone 40mg on a taper dose. My lungs became dry as did urine/bowel. I had to take Colace to ease the constipation. My body readjusted to it's old self and now I'm even more angry. I would have gotten through the depression on my own. The vomiting stopped last week, have regained appetite, although did crave sweets/salty/water/milk/protein and green vegetables, etc I took multi vits, and Kefir yogurt drink to restore gut.The reason I'm here is because I, too, just made the connection, I noticed the hair thinning, not just with texture, but along the hairline and scalp.I bought Women's Rogaine tonight. I experienced the symptoms that others wrote about also. I hope the Rogaine works. I will never take this medication again, the muscle rigidity in my thighs/legs and jaw clenching was so repetitive, I was exhausted, even when I willfully tried relaxation, I noticed very quickly the cycling of the muscle tone and it would get tighter and tighter. you can write to glaxo smith kline or go to wellbutrin.com and the FDA to make a complaint. They pulled this drug off the market once before. There is nothing well about Wellbutrin is what I say.

I was first diagnosed with depression when i was 18 years old. For 9 years i was on all different types of medication but for a majority of the time i was on Effexor xr. I remember when i missed a dose, just feeling so bad i would just want to go to bed but when i took the next dose it wouldn't take long to get back to normal. My memory has been shocking. So bad that i have trouble remembering what happened when my children were babies. I don't know if this is because of the meds or the depression. My father committed suicide during the time i was on effexor and i just could not grieve. I felt that when i cried i was just forcing it. I just didn't feel many emotions at all. My life took a turn after that and i had so much going on that i either didn't have any trouble coming off it or i just don't remember what it was like.
At the start of this year my life was very full and happy and i was so busy until one day i just felt as though i was going to die. For a week i sat in the emergency department at the hospital certain i was going to die and leave my three children without a mother. I was finally diagnosed with a panic disorder. I didn't care what they did i just wanted them to make it stop.(the way i was feeling) I was put lexapro but had a bad reaction to that so they put me back on effexor xr. I can only say thank god! I have been on it now for almost six months and i have decided to come off it again as i feel my life is back in control. The main side effects i have had this time on this medication have been, a definite decrease in sexual function, deep sleep, vivid dreams and my pupils are dilating differently. I have over the last week decreased my dose from 75mls a day to 37.5. I really don't remember going through all these side effects last time. I was on a much higher dose before too. I have had the worst migraines, i am so tired, my eyes sting, i have what i guess others have described as shocks. When i move my head or blink my eyes it feels like i get a shock in my head. I feel like i am looking through a tunnel sometimes too. Although i had this same feeling when i was first put back on the meds. Yes it is tough coming off it this time but i still don't regret taking it in the first place. Without it i may still be feeling the worst feelings i have ever felt in my life and i wouldn't wish it on anyone. The effects i am getting now are not even a glimpse of what i went through before i started.

I am 25 and healthy.
I had Mirena inserted in October 2007. In March 2008 I went to the ER with a racing heartbeat. The ECG was normal, i was sent home.
On June 8 I went to the ER again for racing heart beat and chest pain. The ECG was normal, I was sent home.
On June 11 I was home alone and my chest was sore, my heart started racing, my fingernails turned blue, i was light headed. it felt like the blood left my body. I called 911 and was rushed to ER with a heart rate of 175 bpm. The ECG was normal. The doctor said it was anxiety, gave me an Ativan and sent me home after the heart rate normalized,
The 12 of June I went to my family dr as my symptoms had not improved. I was told she could not do anything except order blood work and to go back to ER if i still felt like that. I went to the ER. This time they prescribed me Ativan for anxiety even though i told them i was not anxious.
I took the Ativan for a couple of days. It made me tired but did not improve my chest symptoms or shortness of breath.
I got worse each day. I could only sit on the couch. Even going to the bathroom would have me feeling like i was having a heart attack. Since then, I went to ER 4x. because i KNEW something was very wrong.
Each time the ECG was normal so i was given a 24 hr monitor to wear (still awaiting the results).
I was reading the side effects for Mirena and my symptoms were listed. This medication can potentially cause heart attack and stroke.
I would wake up in the middle of the night with my chest burning and heart pounding. You don't wake up from a deep sleep having a panic attack!!
My last visit to the ER had the doctor telling me "not to google shit and freak myself out". I asked to have my IUD removed and although he was skeptical he agreed after i begged.

I cannot say for CERTAIN the mirena caused this but I have had it out for 3 days now and started to feel better yesterday which is also the day i started to bleed. This only convinces me further it was the IUD.

I am still not 100%. It will take some time for my system to return to normal after this. My main concern is that it damaged my heart so I am going to have an Echogram done to find out.

Like many posts describing side effects, I was not sure that all the new little health-related issues I've been noticing were connected to taking Zocor. I'm thinking that perhaps my issues are related to the drug, especially since the only other drug I take is Levothyroxine (for hypo-active thyroid). I have been on the generic for two months. (I'm a 39 year old female.)

In the first month, my total cholesterol score was 278. After taking it for one month with no change in diet or physical activity, it reduced to 207. So, the drug does work! Now I need to determine if the cost is worth it.

In the past week, I've noticed several of the side effects listed in some of the posts: sharp pain in knee (feels like there is a paring knife in it!); lower back pain; joints creaking and popping; skin on tips, sides, and underneath of fingers kind of blistering-hardening and peeling off; brain fog in the morning; difficulty maintaining a deep sleep; crazy dreams; general increase in skin blemishes; heartburn; loose bowel movements; and increased sinus congestion.

I have been taking WB 150mg/daily for 3wks now and having strange side effects: headaches on right side of head returning, insomnia but once asleep I fall into a very deep sleep, neck pain, hungry one minute and not the next, decrease in intensity of menses, dizziness at times. Anyone out there with similar problems and if so what was done to calm them? I need to be on an anti-depressant but not wanting to take anything that causes weight gain or decrease in sex drive.

Click on my name and read my other posts! I am wondering after reading soooo many posts, how many of you felt like you couldn't "shut your brain off" when you were trying to sleep? (OR how many of your children described their bed time this way?) The big link seems to be that people (especially kids and teens) are having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, and that the lack of deep sleep is resulting in most of these mood swings, depression, outbursts, etc... and Singulair is causing this sleeplessness! Sleep deprivation is a form of torture. Singulair causes sleep deprivation; therefore, Singulair =torture! (sorry, merck, but you are reaping profits off our children's suffering!)

My daughter did not just suffer sleeplessness. She was found in her dorm hallway in a zombie like state, not responding to questioning and hauled to a hospital in an ambulance. They initially thought she had overdosed on drugs!!!! (she tested negative for drugs, by the way) The next two weeks were living hell for my daughter and our family, but once she was out of the hospital and not taking any Singulair, life returned to normal. Not just normal, exceedingly spectacular!

I'm not taking any for a few days, hoping this is the problem. I have degenerative/crippling arthritis in both thumbs. Dr. says, surgery is the answer. Perhaps so.

Oh my goodness....thanks to all of you who have taken the time to post strange side affects - particularly those of your children. My daughter (4) has had them too: nightmares, fear, irritability, strange bed-wetting episodes (after more than 2 years of being potty-trained) followed by immediate and deep sleep, nocturnal seizures, anxiousness. Since taking her off the medicine, she is back to sleeping through the night and waking up for a trip to the bathroom. I've been to my pediatrician more than once talking about these episodes. He didn't seem to be aware of any side affects like these for Singulair. He will be now!

My four year old son has been on singulair for 6 weeks. He has started complaining about nightmares, wetting the bed and has become irritable and easily agitated. In addition, he seems to go into these wierd episodes of not being able to control his body...like someone high on drugs. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I will be calling his dr. in the am.

I was given Levaquin 750 by my doctor about 6 weeks ago for a sinus infection. I took the first pill and about 20 minutes later I started feeling anxious and panicky. Thought it was all psychosymatic, and it wore of somewhat, but was not able to sleep well, very strange dreams, felt like I all I did was dream all night did not get good deep sleep. Blamed in on stress had a lot going on at the time, here I am six weeks later, suffering from sleep depravation due to the fact that I am unable to get into all layers of sleep each night, this is starting to drive me crazy and I have no quality of life because of the feeling of not being alert due to the deprivation. What do we do to get the nightmare of a med off the market.

I have also suffered severe side effects from Kenalog injections. I had a series of 12-14 injections because of a gynogological ailment. I also asked the doctor. if there were any side effects, she said," no". I was getting the minimal amount of dosage ( 40 MG ). My cheeks started to swell puffy and redness, I was gaining weight and could not concentrate. When I asked her about these problems , she said, " it was not from the injections." I then got a second opinion, and was told to stop the injections immediately ( blood test were done) This doctor also works for the same hospital. The 2nd opinion doctor called my doctor before giving me the results; to warn my doctor. Who then called me and also told me to get more blood test done. Well because of these injections now I suffer from Endocrinogical problems and may possibly have Endo Carsinoma cancer, which the doctors are monitoriing. I suffer from hair loss from the scalp of my head, hair growth on body and face; which I didn't have before. I can die if there is to much stress in my system, hormonal imbalance, irregular periods, loss of muscle, skin tissue, pain and numbness in the areas that were injected, areas that I did not have a problems with before the injection were administrated. I almost lossed my job; for job abandonment. I could not wake up in the morning I would fall into to a deep sleep, or would feel lathargic, disoriented, hallucinations, peranoia, and depression. The worst part about this, is that I cannot sue the hospital because 1. I work for the company 2. The hospital is privately owned and you cannot sue a privately owned hospital, you can only have an arbitration. The most you can get from these cases is $25.000, and no attorney wants to fight the company because it's to expensive to get a outside 2nd opinion, or they just don't think the case is strong enough to win. I'm in a real (rut)! This has also affected my sexual desire (no desire). I am 36, and I am a single parent with all these physical ailments.

Can anyone help ??????

4 years ago I was prescribed Compazine for nausea. I went to work and then had to leave because I began to feel extremely "high". When I called my mother I began to drool a little and thats when I got worried. When I got home I took a shower and while I was getting dressed I felt worst. I called my brother upstairs and right then and there is when I was unable to open my mouth and my tongue was numb, I had lockjaw. He rushed me to the doctor where I was given a shot of benadryl and was told to go home and take OTC benadryl. I was in a deep sleep for 23 hours when I got home. SCARY!

I'm 21 years old... and I've been on Pred. for about two weeks now.... started out on 60 mg for 5 days, then 40 mg for 5 days, and now I'm on the home stretch with one 20 mg for the last 5 days. I had a reaction to some poison- though they never figured out what it was (though, I'm pretty sure it was poison oak and I had terrible hives reaction over my entire body).

But just from being on this medicine for two weeks I've experienced the following side effects:
- Increased appetite. Gained 3 1/2 lbs in a week and a half.
- Lack of deep sleep.
- Frequent trips to the bathroom throughout the night (3-5 times) - probably some how related to how much I'm consuming.
- Overall feeling of muscular weakness.
- AND worst of all, sweating at night. I'll have the a/c as low as it can go, and I still sweat through a few shirts at night. Does anyone else have this problem? It's driving me crazy... it's pretty gross. :)

I have begun taking prednisone again after being completely off the drug for 15 yrs. The same old side affects as before. Lack of deep sleep, lots of 20 minute bursts of sleep, restlessness, mood swings, increased appetite when I have to decrease diet amounts, and most of all, lack of sexual desire and inability to achieve and maintain an erection. All side affects which made me hate it before and I still do.

My wife said that she could tell I was in a deep sleep and she even tried to wake me up at one point to no avail. I feel like have an alcohol hangover today.

I first went on Effexor in June of 2002 at 75mg a day. It seemed to be working fine. Then in June of 2003 I decided to stop taking it because I thought everything was fine. About one month later I was on it at 150mg a day. Because I was crying, had suicidal thoughts. I really didn't care about life. I took it for 4 months and decided this wasn't for me. I have been off for a week, and I feel really funny. I never told the doctor about getting off the medication. I am forgetting things, I feel out of it all the time. My heart feels as though it will pound out of my chest. I don't sleep at all. I try to fall asleep, and once I am try to go to a deep sleep I wake myself up. I hear things popping in my ears. I am a little scared because I don't know what will happen. Never heard anything bad about this drug, until I read these side effects. I don't think I would recommend this drug to anyone. Especially if you live alone, because there are nights I think I won't wake up.
