After reading this I feel inclined to write. I am a 35 year old mother of 2. I decided to use NuvaRing as my bc after having the morena (sp?) IUD taken out due to weight gain and excessive acne. I was really excited about the ring as pills make me feel pregnant i.e. go to bed early and force myself to eat saltines.
I have in the past 4+ years of being on this drug noticed huge mood swings and definite lowered sex drive. This is suppose to be my sexual prime and man, I feel like a dead fish. I am recently separated and filing for divorce so it is interesting to think that all my husbands comments about my mood, over the years, may have been directly due to the NuvaRing. I thought that he was being insensitive (which he has always been guilty of).
Don't get me wrong...my marriage was abviously not strong enough to withstand such hormonal turmoil especially for this length of time, however, this is all very interesting. I have felt rageful around ovulation time. I cannot keep from yelling. Also prior to my period I am again feeling a little crazy. I had excessive eating and drinking due to depression but some of that could be my unhappy relationship.
I did have leg cramps mostly at night that I did not understand. Nausea seems to hit mostly at night and headaches were something that happened off and on. The fatigue I remember off and on over the years.
I believe that I was one of the first people to try this drug and was very happy with it. I always recommend it to others. I thought it was wonderful. I did go off at one point and remembered why I need regulation...My periods are long, heavy, painful, horrible and irregular.
I am due to put the ring back in tomorrow, however I will be heading down the road of recovery alone, with out my beloved NuvaRing that may have led me astray long ago.

just another update on my other 2 postings. Things have really hotted up here, lets just say the doctors surgery will get a nasty surprise in the post!! I urge anyone who has been conned into taking this drug to make a stand, sooner or later the medical community is going to have to listen. Websites like this are a godsend, but....POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!! Give them what for, they can't brush this under the carpet for much longer and they have no right to make anyone take this drug. My doctor behaved as if nothing had happened, I nearly pegged it and they treated me like a nutcase! The most annoying thing is that I already have Crohn's Disease so I should never have been put on it, but they completely disregarded that fact, something they have been aware of for many years...NO EXCUSE at all. There is a definate cover up, have you seen the news this week??? More people are to be started on simvastatin because the government wants to save money on heart operations!!! They are either incredibly stupid (no surprises there), or have been completety sucked into the statin hype. There is going to be a massive strain on the NHS because of all the other health problems this drug causes, I saw 3 different specialists because of my sudden ill health, do they really think it will save them money??? Any one from the Government reading this?? get your bloody finger out and do something! Apart from not saving money, what cost to all that have been put on it??? what about their health? and by the way, I am the patient but I HAD to ask the doctor for a test for muscle wastage even though he knew this had been occurring, non admition of guilt then? National Health? NO National Joke and we are on the recieving end. I am not a lab monkey and don't want to be a test subject for these poxy drug companies and neither should anyone else, get RID of these awful drugs!

I am approaching 8 mos on Topamax. I take it for Epilepsy vice Migraines so my situation is less discretionary. Caffine is a definate no-no on Topamax, it makes you feel confused and crappy immediately after you drink / ingest it. That is the first lesson I learned. Drink plenty of water, that helps your kidneys work through the medicine. I take 75 mg in the morning around 7:30 and my heavy med time is around 11:30 (lunchtime) and then 50 mg at night so I am asleep during my evening heavy med time. Topamax is a miracle and has kept me seizure free for 8 mos. Side effects are light, I just plan accordingly. I would never take Topamax if I did not have to. I just take plenty of notes to overcome my high med times / confusion and seem to be doing pretty well. The big one is CUT OUT CAFFINE. Man, caffine will make you feel really bad.

Hey I've been on Topamax for a week and a half now. Thats not too long. I have been lucky. I've experienced the tingling extremities, some bowel issues, definate exuastion and the worst, FLAT SODA!!! But nothing to extreme, or should I say moderate versions of all these but I experienced something I hadn't seen posted here several days ago. I was having intercourse with my wife and when I actually had my orgasm I went completely numb. In fact the only reason I knew it happened at all was the obvious evidence. I was sober at the time and it hasn't happened since but it felt like the same tingling in my extremities only from head to toe. It was highly dissappointing but I thought might lighten someones mood to hear it told.

My 4 yo daughter has been taking Sinulair since last spring (Apirl 2006).

Worked great, I don't remember any side effects last summer. She was 2 & changed every day so it's hard to say. Now she's 3 & we've started it back up again at the start of spring. It's hard to say for a 3 year old what symptoms/side effects they are really suffering from. They aren't able to express themselves except mostly by actions. I just assumed her moodyness, crying jags, trouble sleeping at night were part of her age/personality.

Now, I'm noticing a definate problem getting her to bed every night. She will easily be up until 10 - 10:30 before falling asleep. This is even if I put her to bed around 8. She doesn't sleep well either. I'm pretty sure she's dreaming, but it's hard to say whether or not she's having nightmares. We've already made an appt with another doc to switch to something other than Singulair.

Too bad this type of info has to be sought after by the patient's & not provided at the time the medication is prescribed. I'll have to do more research regarding the physchotropic issues of this drug. They prescribe this for kids?

My six year old started Singular about two months back and I've noticed some major differences in his moods/attitude. He's normally a very happy, loving boy. I would have parents comment on how loving he is - they'd see him giving me hugs/kisses each morning at school when their kids would barely acknowledge their presence. My son would tell me he loved me 100 times a day and every night before bed he'd say - Good night, I love you, you're the best mama ever. A few days into taking Singulair that all stopped. He would say he wants to tell me he loves me but doesn't want to lie. OUCH. And the nightly routine stopped and he'd ask if he had to say it if he didn't mean it. After starting Singulair, if I ever needed to ask him for an opinion he'd say - well maybe, well no, well i don't care. Like what to eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. His favorite place is Joe's Crab Shack and he "didn't care if we ate there". The yes or no answers stopped. It seemed to be about getting through the day. And he went from being a well behaved little boy to getting in trouble several times a day even at school. The word I'd use to describe him the last couple of months is melancholy - basically no emotion one way or the other and while sitting he'd look really depressed. This is a boy that has a blast all the time. I have been wondering what is going on and wasn't sure what to do but when several of my friends have commented on the change in him - they always loved the fact he was such a sweetheart that I figured I'd try one thing at a time. I decided to take him off Singulair (since that was the most recent change and seemed to be when this all started) last Wednesday and have noticed a difference almost immediately. It's now Sunday. He's smiling more, more definate answers, he is giving more hugs, still distant a little but NOTHING like he has been. Curious to see how school goes this week. And I wonder if I'll ever get my boy back????

Results are in....
all normal beside my iron is low....
doctor thinks the natural tablets that help regulate female hormones may have masked the progesterone levels (at least he believes me.....lol) but its reassuring to know that sugars, thyroid, etc are ok.
blood pressure still 130/90 still telling me i need to lose weight (i am on low gi diet at the minute) and trying as hard as i can i put on 15kg on yasmin and now weigh 90kg so understand blood pressure rises with weight but hey i see some larger than that ladies with no blood pressure issues so i know this is a definate yasmin legacy .and considering i had normal blood perssure on yasmin in the beginning and its only rises its largest when i was off it.
Question for ny ladies that gained weight with yasmin , did the blood pressure decrease naturally or did u lose weght and it decreased.

thanks in advance
Lisa

my daughter is 5 years old. she was recently put on 5 mill of singulair. i couldnt figure out what was wrong or what had changed her moods so abrumptly. i had spoken with her school counseler and her teachers to see if anything unusual was happening in school because she totally refused and cried unconsolably when it was time to go. she had attended pre school in the previous year so school was not new to her. she began kindergarten this year at the same school without much of a fuss besides the usual kindergarten jitters. she came down with a pretty bad cold and allergy attack, so her doctor prescribed singulair and advert instead of just claritin. every since she started this medicine, she hasnt slept well, and it seems the small things that made her apprehensive before have magnified by 100. im very upset that parents arent better informed about the side effects that COULD happen while their children are taking the meds that they themselves prescribed. if i had not taken the time to read the papers associated with the meds given at the drugstore, i would not have known why my little girl was feeling the way she is. although these information papers barely touch on the side effects, i took it upon myself to call the pharmacist to get further information. i explained the symptoms my daughter was going through and i was utterly shocked and furious to hear her confirm eveything i was saying was a definate side effect of singulair. please parents, get ALL of the information on this drug before administering it to your child...some may not have any negative effects, but you need to know all of the possibilities that can occur.

(MEMORY LOSS) I have been on Wellbutrin for close to a year starting with a low dosage-now at 450mg a day. I am not feeling the low dips of depression nor has it elevated me to a normal level of hapiness-minimally at best just functioning. I cannot remember certain things at work in which I should-short term and longer term. This is certainly a problem along with diminished concentration levels leading to mistakes in a job that is highly detailed.

Does every body or some also believe that there are definate side effects of memory loss? ******
