It feels so great to have seen that other people are experiencing the same unlisted side effects. I am on 100mg of doxy twice a day for 20 weeks. I've only been taking it a few days but holy crap. I have been so depressed lately. All I do is cry. And I can't explain why or what I'm thinking that triggers it. I do have things in my life going on that are upsetting me, but nothing that should get me to this point. I have random thoughts of suicide, which is getting me even more down. I have always been such a fun loving, care free person. But now everyone is always asking what's wrong me. I didn't suspect the drug, but getting off and calling my derm ASAP. Other than the depression I've spent a few days throwing up after taking the antibiotic, but I hadn't had too much to eat that day.

when I was in my early 20's i got a sever case of bad acne! I was prescribed 100mg of Doxy 2 times a day. Of course I learned very quickly to eat before having it. Other than that no side effects. I had flawless skin for about 2 years, at which point i had built up a tolerance to it. When I noticed a few pimples I went straight to my derm before it got out of hand. My derm switched me to minocycline and after about another year of perfect skin I got off of meds all together. I have great skin now, just use proactive and nothing else.
Well now my 14yr old has started breaking out..nothing topical worked, I want to protect her from all of the emotional damage that acne caused for me. Put her on doxy 100mg 2x a day. Shes been on it for about 2 weeks and it seems like the big ones went away but there is an over abundance of small ones now and they are flaring up. Is that normal..I don't remember this happening to me but it was so long ago. Does it get worse before it gets better? Anyone experience this?

Hello. I am am going through some major hair loss. I started the pills three weeks ago and i can honestly say that I have lost more hair in the past couple of weeks than i have ever lost in my entire life. I am 22 and I have no family line of baldness. I was on YAZ and this never happened. I switched to FEMCON Fe because I had breakthrough bleeding. Now not only am I having an almost nervous break but my face is breaking out. Something that I never really experienced with YAZ. Can anyone tell me if the hair will grow back?
Thanks

I have been on Lamictal for just under 1 year and only today realized that my increased acne is probably a side effect. The area around my jaw line is especially bad and it won't clear up. I've also gotten a few little pimples on my chest - I thought it was from going to the gym. My derm has tried oral meds and I'm about to try Accutane, but I really don't want to go to that extreme - Accutane scares me! I also noticed similar effects to the ones that others were talking about, too...forgetting words...forgetfulness...spelling...I want to go off the Lamictal. This just isn't worth it.

I have been using Klaron for 1 week now along with doxycycline, no results as of yet. My face is not red in the morning, however once I wash it, it does turn red. I go back to the derm on March 5, if no results she is going to have to switch me to something new.

I've gotten Kenalog injections for years (probably 100 injections over the years... all in my face) for cystic acne and never, not once, had any side effects from it. It made my worst cysts literally disappear overnight. It was a God send for me. I'm 46 and still get the damned things under my skin. I've moved, so I need to find a local dermatologist who does these injections.

I have been having Doxy since last June (about 6 mo. ago) and still taking it. Its effects on my acne problem has just gotten apparent about one month ago. (Yep. For 5 months, I kept my faith and it is beginning to pay off.) I was determined to take the stuff as long as I need to. However, I just noticed that my stomach is bloating and I got tired very easily. I could play several games of rigorous racquetball before but no longer. My breathing has gotten harder and felt like something was obstructing my breathe just below the rib cage (in the middle).
I will see my derm to see if there is any long term problem with this side effect. He once told me I have to take this drug at least 2 months after all the major "bums" have disappeared. I hope that is within the next few weeks.

I've been on Advair for years. I'm a healthy 32 y.o female, active, with severe asthma. Trying to get myself off of it and have been successful at taking the medication once every 3 days or so. I am working out more and need it less often - the more I build up lung capacity. Within the last year, I've noticed that I've been losing eyebrow hair. So much of it, in fact, that I went to the Derm. for a diagnosis. They think it's "alopecia" - and I say ... it's ADVAIR. Anyone else experiencing hair loss or eyebrow loss, who happens to be on an inhaled steroid? In my case, it's only ONE eyebrow - very annoying! Hair on head is fine. Can't help but link it to the drugs, since Alopecia seems just way too far removed.

Hi there... I have just found this site and I'm very grateful to everyone who has taken the time to sit down and tell us their story mine is very similar. BELIEAVE me I feel like I am pushing my family away and I'm losing my relationship with the one person who used to make me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world.
I'm a 40 yr female have or maybe had a great job that I loved... On April 12 I noticed a small red rash on my lower right leg no big deal went to the Dr. gave me some cream and sent me home well I went to work and by the afternoon things just seem to get bad my legs began to swell and little blisters started to pop up so I went to the E.R. they had no Idea what was wrong with me got me an appointment to see a skin DR. so I went home but the pain from the swelling was so bad I could not walk any longer went back to the E.R. they gave me some pain meds and called in some other DR. things had gone from bad to worse my feet had gotten to big I could not put on shoes and I had bruised completely across the bottoms of my feet they put me on 30mg of PRED. and it seem to be under control sent me home after 3 day in the hospital things were good for about a day or so I thought I would go back to work well that was not a very good idea.... My sister had to come and take me back to the ER where they did 2 biopsies and still have no idea what is wrong with me. so now they put me on 60mg of PRED the rash has gone, lots of scaring on my feet because of the blisters once they broke and dried out but I can live with that....
It's the side effects that they don’t tell you about,
MOON FACE I can't look at myself cause really that’s not me anymore,
WEIGHT GAIN I have always been thick but I can't handle the extra 30lbs I've gained,
MOOD SWINGS are unbearable,
PAINFUL JOINTS, CAMEL HUMP, BLOODY NOSE, BRUSING, SORE TEETH/GUMS, DRY EYES, FAITIGE, and worsted of all
I don’t have a support systems in my life so I'm fighting this by myself everyday, I have 3 kids that I have tried to explain all this to but they don't get it and well my boyfriend he tells me he understands that its the meds pushing him away but if I can't figure away to control this I will lose every thing including my job. I cant even get the energy together half the time to make it up and down the stairs which also comes with the pain of just trying to lift each leg up to climb the stairs, I also have the camel hump which I find very painful, The acne and the hair growth that I have to get wax off once a month cause I feel like a man I feel like a loser and as of the last couple of days I just want to give up I am now down to 20mg per day but I find that I am feeling so sick I cant think straight I hope and pray for each and every person out there that has to take this MED that you get better and I do hope that my symptoms wont come back. Thanks for being here and I’m glad I found this site. I know now that I’m not losing my mind completely. Elizabeth.

not really sure if 1 of my symptoms were from nr, i had been on it for 3 months and started breaking in hives for 3 weeks now. my husband thinks it is from nr, but the derm and pharm told me that it is not a side effect. if i am allergic to it i should have had the rash the moment i put it in. i had definitely gained 6 lbs. i thought it was from prednisone(derm put me on prednisone) thought it was allergic reaction from antibiotic. i cant stop eating, bloated and gassy all the time it is annoying and frustrating !!!!!!!

My hair was falling out excessively about 2 years ago and my derm gave me about 10 kenalog shots in my scalp every month for 6 months and it helped me alot. He explained to me that it is a very weak and diluted version of kenalog and that I shouldn't have any side effects and so far i haven't. My hair loss has started again (comes up from time to time) and I have gone back to my derm to receive the shots. I think if you receive the shots, but experience bad side effects, maybe asking for a much lighter dosage would help.

In July of '06 I received a Kenalog shot in my buttocks because of asthma problems. I never knew why my skin was sinking in, at the same place where I received the shot. Now, nine months later, I can almost sink my fist in my butt because the dent keeps getting larger. I just learned a few days ago that it was because of the Kenalog shot. Is the dent going to keep getting larger or is there some way that I can stop it. Somebody please help me.!!!!

I have also had Kenalog injections. The only side effect I seem to have is the atrophy at the injection site. It suddenly appeared one day about 4 months after my first injection. It was only dime sized and stayed that way for about a year. I thought it was a funny strech mark from having lost a lot of weight. I had another injection about 1 year later and noticed 4-5 months afterward the crater started expanding. It now seems to keep growing and I finally went to the derm and he said it was a side effect from Kenalog. I am using the OTC product Mederma to see if it helps the appearance of the area. Sorry to hear all of your terrible side effects.

I had a Kenalog injection between my eyes for a zit/cyst. I've had mild cyctic acne for years and easily treat it with cortisone injections every few months. I asked for a cortisone injection which I've gotten regularly with no problems, but was given the Kenalog and told it was the same thing - is it?!?! I now have an 'dent' between my eyes. I've called my normal derm to see if she can add filler or something, will it ever go away? It's been approx 4weeks and the dent keeps getting bigger.

I took this for about three weeks for acne. I didn't have any problems for THREE weeks, then one day my back started aching. Then the next my hands and feet started itching. I didn't connect this with the sulfameth, until day four when, along with the muscle aches and itching, I had nausea and chills so bad I went to an urgent care clinic scared out of my mind. The doctor there said it was the sulfameth, and gave me a shot of something to stop the nausea and chills. That was a week and a half ago, and I still have the itching reaction. There's no visible rash--just insane itching. The urgent care doctor told me to take Benedryl, which I did to no avail. After a week, when it was clear the itching wasn't going to go away, I finally called my dermatologist who prescribed a prescription-strength anti-histimine. That helps to some degree, but the itching is still there, and my derm. said I could expect it to last for "a few weeks" despite the sulfameth not being in my system anymore!! I felt better after finding this site, knowing that I wasn't crazy, but I'm still angry about being prescribed this. Also-I had no appetite, but that is starting to come back slowly.

I visited my derm. for dry cracked feet he prescribed various creams and ordered that I have a kenalog 60mg injection.approx. 6wks after I noticed a GOLFBALL indention at the injection site.It took me a couple of days to figure out that this mut be from my injection. After my doctor said to come back so he could take a look at it ,he beat around the bush about what caused it, would it ever fill back in.Never got any real answers from him.I've been researching the net and have found that the "dimpling" effect is caused by the needle not being deep enough into the muscle or being removed to early and seepage of the medication goes into the adipose tissue and destroys it of eats away at it.I was never warned that this could be a side effect or possibility.

I suffered from alopecia areata (patchy to complete hair loss) since I was 13. From time to time I would go to a dermatologist to see if there was any new treatments for me. Finally a derm. began giving me pin-prick type injections of Kenalog in the scalp on a weekly basis. After a month. I had 100% hair regrowth. Boy, was I happy. Then he told me I couldn't have the injections more often than monthly, as he was afraid of overuse. The hair began falling out again. The monthly treatments weren't enough. I have the problem to this day. I wonder if I could start again on a weekly basis?

Well,
I've had about 8 - 10 series of injections of kenalog for Keloids.
My first few were by one Derm, who was probably using a very low dosage to keep my coming back. I did respond well to each dosage.
I eventually switched to another derm to get the shots for cheaper. Again, my keloids did respond by getting smaller.
For location reasons only, I started seeing another derm and within 2 injections (about 30 days apart) my keloids are completely gone.
My only "complication" is that my skin in the surrounding area of the keloid is either discolored and/or dented in.
The largest keloid that's now gone is the one most noticeable that is really dented in. However, the deepth of the dent is kinda consistent with the deepth of the incision when I original had the keloids removed, prior to getting injections.

I was on Pred. from March of this year (up to 60 mg. per day for a short time) for itchy skin. Doc's can't find reason for itchy skin but new doc said to get off pred. asap. So, I finally tapered and stopped 07/05/05. The drug was a nightmare. I was so "Jacked up" it wasn't funny. Even 20 mg. (and higher) just made me super crabby. I'm headed to the Mayo soon. Hopefully they can stop the itchy WITHOUT using pred. Urg. I am surprised my derm. went right to this drug without doing more labs etc. like my other dr's did. I think it will take quite awhile to rid this from my system.

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!
Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.
I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).
The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.
I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.
For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???
Thanks...

I have been told that I have PCOS too since I stopped Yasmin 9 weeks ago. As some of you know about a month after I stopped taking Yasmin I started having horrible side effects...increased acne, increase facial/body hair, anxiety, depression and most of all EXTREME HAIR Loss!!! I demanded that my GYN run tests. She insisted nothing was wrong with me and that I needed to see a therapist for my anxiety. She finally agreed to check my hormones and guess what??? My testosterone was extremely high. My dheas were also somewhat elevated. I knew something was wrong. She didn't even have the nerve to follow up with me. She had her nurse tell me. They apparently referred to me an endo who refused to see me, but talked to me on the phone and said it sounds like PCOS. She told me the GYN should have run more tests and that i need to see a Derm. Again this was all done by phone. Here's the problem...no one is doing any of this follow-up. I am totally getting the run around. I am so frustrated. Has Yasmin caused these problems or just simply prevented them while i was on it for 3 years?

I was on Alesse for four years and felt I had reached maximum bloat, so decided to discontinue the pill altogther this fall. Unfortunately, my acne problems surfaced again (after a year and a half after a six-month course of accutane). My skin got really bad and was getting oilier and oilier. I thought I'd better get back on the pill again to get my skin at least somewhat under control. I also considered going to my derm and ask for spironolactone to help with my skin's over production of oil. While doing research on BCPs that were purported to be good for acne, I landed upon Yasmin, and asked my OBGYN for it and she prescribed it to me. Yeah! It's been a godsend.
I started around the holidays this past December and it addressed my oily problem within the first week of taking it. And it doesn't make me bloat! I swear I've lost 10 pounds of water weight that I was carrying before. I still have to keep a lot of attention to my skin to control breakouts, but not being so oily helps out a lot.
My only complaints are with the diuretic effect, I'm up in the night having to go to the bathroom, sometimes as much as three times. And if it's rather early in the morning I can't get back to sleep. I'm a little moody, but it seems to be the case with birth control pills. The moodiness is nothing excessive. I'd be a lot moodier if I had my old icky oily skin back and had to go back on Accutane.
I have not experienced the fatigue or other negative side effects that people have mentioned here. In fact, it seems that all the possitive side effects that Yasmin was purported to have have worked for me.
I'd be very upset if Yasmin was taken off the market. If you find that a birth control pill is not working for you, go back to your doctor and try another kind. I remember a friend in college who had started taking the pill and she had terrible side effects, like bad headaches, terrible moodiness, felt like her heart was palpitating, and I told her to go and get it switched. Evidently the one that she switched to was perfect because she's been on it ever since. Works out perfectly for her, no bloating, etc. Maybe a little crabbiness, but seems hard to avoid that one.
At any rate, I've been very happy with Yasmin. As birth control pills go, it's practically perfect for me.

I have been spotting every single day since I started taking Yasmin. I have had to wear a tampon all day everyday for the last at least 2 1/2 weeks. I also have the Intrauterine device right now while I am taking Yasmin so that in another week and a 1/2 when I get it removed the pill will be fully effective. The reason I am having the IUD removed is because my periods were absolutely horrible with it. I have had it going on 9 months now and they haven't gotten any better. Also my skin has broken out really bad all over my body! (which my doc said is due to hormones) My derm told me to start taking Yasmin for my skin so that's what I'm doing and also to lighten my periods and cramps. I have experienced a lot of breast tenderness and swelling as well as some headaches in the morning (i take it at 9 p.m every night). Is there anyone else experiencing the spotting? I know there is "break-through bleeding" in the beginning but I am hoping it subsides. Thanks for your comments!
