I've taken Ultracet for about 4 years almost every day, morning and night time and sometimes in the afternoon depending how severe my pain is. I take 2 pills each time. It does help take the edge off my pain. My doctor said my Fibromyalgia is as bad as it can get, plus I have severe arthritis through my whole body. I can hardly stand up straight and trouble walking. Ultracet seems to help better then Ultram for me. I'm concerned about how long I've taken Ultracet and damaging my liver or other organs. Does anyone know how long you can continue using Ultracet before it does damage. I'm very concerned about that issue because it does somewhat help with pain. I haven't noticed any side effects using Ultracet. If anyone knows how long you can stay on Ultracet without any harm, please post your knowledge or experience. Should I also have my blood monitored periodically?

Lisinopril seems to put a heavy detoxification load on the immune system. As a result, the body seems to use up zinc and selenium (and other things, of course, like vit-c, vit-e) at a high rate.
When the body runs out of zinc or selenium, additional problems happen. The immune system is not able to keep up with the detoxification needs, and I think this is a major factor with the cough.
In addition, other systems besides the immune system are also negatively effected when these nutrients run low. For example, selenium, is very important for joint health, and, it is also key in thyroid function (both at the receptor site as well is in the thyroid itself), among other things.
The combination of direct lung damage related to the cough, plus the lowered thyroid function from lack of selenium seem to me to be the major causes of the breathlessness or shortness of breath problems that I've had so much of.
Another problem is that taking selenium supplementation, even when deficient in selenium, further depresses the thyroid. So, I have found a number of things that help me counteract that, in order that I can take the necessary amount of supplemental selenium to feed my immune system. These other things are calcium, boron, iodine, tyrosine, zinc, magnesium. Also, I take the extra selenium only at night, when extra thyroid depression is more tolerable.
Also, for really damaged lungs, as mine were, I found that cysteine, msm, and horsetail (for silicia) also helpful.
And to help with the stomach problems that lisinopril caused me, I found glutamine helpful.
My problems persisted for a long time (2+ years) after quitting lisinopril, however, each time I discovered one of these helpful nutrients, my recovery took a leap forward. I'm pretty sure that if I'd known right away about the zinc & selenium, in particular, I'd have been able to get back on my feet in several months instead.

There are presently 56 pages of complaints about lisinopril.
Reading through them, there are a number of people who have weight issues due to lisinopril. I have had them myself. I used to be able to control my weight by just jogging a bit more, but while on lisinopril - and for a long long time after, no amount of jogging helped. I also started feeling more and more exhausted and finally couldn't even sustain a minimum amount of jogging.
You should consider getting off lisinopril before you catch any of the other side effects, as they can be debilitating and extremely long lasting, perhaps permanent (even after quitting).
You might consider supplementation with L-Carnitine or Acetly-L-Carnitine for increased energy and fat burning metabolism. (I have also found L-Glutamine to be helpful on my stomach - the lisinopril gave me lots of stomach problems, among other things.)
My opinion of one thing that's going on with the lisinopril is that it places a heavy (detoxification) load on the liver, and as a result the liver is not able to produce the same level of the so-called "conditional nutrients", such as L-Carnitine (important for fat burning metabolism) and N-Acetly-Cysteine (important for lung health, e.g. to fight the cough). As this medication shifts the primary function of the liver from normal operation to heavy detoxification, it also uses up valuable minerals, such as zinc and manganese, and vitamins, such as vit-b group. Eventually, these nutritonal depletions will result in some complex side effects, energy, and health issues (in addition to the other more directly-caused side effects like the cough).
I also believe that supplementation is the best way to get some of these nutrients. You'd have to eat a ton of food (and gain weight, which is counter productive to hypertension and other health issues) to get the specific nutrients that are being depleted.

Hey all,
Just to update those of you who want to know how long it takes for yasmin to completely flush out of your system. There is no real answer to that. Just like each persons reactions to yasmin cannot be compared to someone elses, the same is with detoxification. Some of you got better within days or weeks, and then there are those who still struggle after months.
I for one am now 3 months post yasmin. Whilst on the pill my reactions were relatively minor. However since I came off it i've been cursing the day I went on it. I mentioned on another post that initially I started to take it to regulate my period as I had an eating disorder.....like in not wanting to gain weight.
I was very advanced in recovery when I stopped yasmin and shoot..........i gained 8 lbs in water weight within 3 days. No period for 3 months thereafter and I keep being congratulated upon my pregnancy...lol...
You could imagine what this does to my ego and let alone recovery. I just slid back to all my old habits.
Also I'm still experiencing heart palp every night/low libido in bed and it deprives me from my sleep. So at night it's the palps, by day its the water weight so I have neither night nor day.
Whoever has any hesitations of starting this pill, true not all bodies are alike, but after seeing so many people suffer immeasurably, why become another victim when there are so many other options out there!
This forum is great ladies. At least I have where to vent my frustrations and I hope you all have a speedy recovery soon.
Me-at my wits end.

Hi Everyone after reading all the posts and crazy medications everyone esp. kids and babies are taking I would suggest reading this book. It is called Healing the New Childlhood Epidemics and is quite interesting.

It is quite interesting as the causes of all four are similar and related. I am still reading it as my son just had ear tubes put in and always seems to be having sinus infections. Dr. Bock seems to have had amazing success by targeting detoxification, removing sources of inflammation, changing diet, etc. and transforming kids back into a healthier state. Hope it helps you.
