Taking Prednisone 20+20 a day . One morning my heart beat and pulse shot to 180/Min and became irregular. Immediately went to urgent care. B.P was checked to be 190 (Systolic) / 110(diastolic) .
Slowly the Pulse and B.P came down to normal. Reduce the dose to 10+10 Prednisone a day voluntarily. But Doctor asked to go back to 20+10.
After taking 20+10 for 5 days , today on 6th day again I got the attack of irregular high heart beat and high B.P.

Took a tranquilizer and in an hour the heart rate and B.P slowly came back to normal

I am not sure if these are side effects or not but I started taking Mucinex-D about a month ago. Lately, I wake at night with puonding in my head and I've noticed my blood pressure is elevated by about 10 points diastolic.

I had been on Cozaar off and on for about three years. Although the medication did bring my blood pressure down, my weight steadily increased, and no matter what I did, I could not lose a pound. I was tired, depressed, and my vision changed for the worse. I had increased urination, and I also developed a strangling type cough, and would have coughing fits every now and then. I experienced light headedness and a loss of concentration. Initially I did not attribute these symptoms to Cozaar, because they came on gradually. I never needed glasses before Cozaar, my appetite was the same, and I was not on any other prescription drug. About 6 months ago, I decided to ween myself off of Cozaar. During that time I have lost about 20 lbs, without dieting--eating the same way I did on Cozaar. My concentration and energy level has increased, and my vision has improved--I don't need reading glasses anymore. My blood pressure fluctuates from normal to medium-high, so I am looking into more natural remedies to control it. Please remember that drugs treat the symptoms, not the disease.

I took Guaifenex for the first time yesterday, and I might add for the last time yesterday. My blood pressure rose quickly, the Systolic rose 40 points and the Diastolic rose 30 points and my resting pulse rate raised over 40 bbm. When at the doctor in the same morning, both blood pressure and pulse were normal. I have never before had this type of reaction to any medication. My night sleep of 2am - 4am will not help me get better, no matter how "wonderful" of a decongestant this stuff is. It took two doses for this reaction to hit me. I am sure that this may not be the normal reaction - but if you get it watch out, because it is very scary.

I took Toprol XL for a short time in order to regulate extremely high systolic bp. It did little to reduce that, but brought down the diastolic rate as well as my heart rate so low I was in danger of passing out. The doctor immediately took it away and replaced it with one that takes care of the systolic withough demolishing the diastolic.

I have been treated for HTN for the past year (I am 47) and have had great blood pressure results with Lisinopril, but I also developed the horrible cough.

I first started lisinopril first in February of 2005 but noticed the development of a terrible, gagging, cough that made it difficult for me to communicate at times (I am an RN). I would feel fine for a while and then start in with the cough...even the MDs noticed it and asked me about it at work.

I was hoping that it was just a winter cough thing since my BP was really doing well on the 10mg of lisinopril, but with my stress incontinence problem and the lost nights of sleep, and daily coughing-gagging fits, I had to stop it after a few months. I noticed that the cough subsided within a few days after stopping the drug.

My MD started me on 25 mg. HCTZ which lowered my BP although my diastolic was sometimes higher than he liked it.

I had been taking HCTZ until two weeks ago. After getting a few too many BPs in the 140/90 range, I decided to stop taking it and restarted my lisinopril. I felt okay for a day or two and then COUGH, COUGH, GAG, RETCH....all over again. I know it's the lisinopril now. I can't handle this coughing, I do groups in a mental health facility....I can't make it through them sometimes, I also have a horrible time with my stress incontinence because of the coughing.

I just restarted my HCTZ today and hope to have shaken off this cough within a few days. I see my MD in three weeks and hopefully we can work something else out. I was very disappointed in the lisinopril since it is very cheap and got my BP to a nice 120/78 range.

It's amazing! I've experienced the majority of same effects as everyone else - the listlessness (when I first starting taking Lisinopril about 5 months ago it totally knocked me out like a sleeping pill!), the dry coughing, the lack of sex drive, now I'm getting headaches, and whereas initially my pressure was coming down, now it's doing nothing!!!! Before going on Lisinopril, my average pressure was 120-130/100-105. My doctor initially started me on 10mg then increased to 20mg since my pressure seemed to level around 130/95. The extra 10mg didn't really drop it much - only to about 130/90. But now my systolic number keeps increasing (staying around 140) whereas the problem had always been my bottom diastolic number. Now its staying around 140/110-115!!!! This is ridiculous.

Since my doctor and I have been of different opinions lately, I've made an appointment with a different doctor and hope to have better success.

I'm glad to have run across this site because now I know its not just me!

Thank you.

Yes, I had the same problems with my blood pressure!! The diastolic was always higher than the systolic pressure since getting off Yasmin!! Before I always had a very normal blood pressure about 120/80 and so. Now, 5 months after stopping Yasmin it slowly gets back to a normal height (about 120/70 or 80, sometimes a little bit lower).

So this seems to be another nice effect of this "wonder drug"!!

It seems that this pill really affects the whole body in a very bad way!! I'm so done with this shit!!!!

I'm 26 years old and have been taking lisinopril for about two years. I have experienced most of the side effects that have been mentioned, especially the GERD. I love to work out, but the better shape I get into the worse I feel. I'm on 10 mg and my blood pressure is usually 115/64. When I work out my diastolic drops into the low 50's, and I feel like fainting. I tried coming of it without my doctors knowledge, and I had a really bad time. My bp went back up to 140/90 and I was a wreck. so I keep on taking it. After reading through this web site I hope that I can get of of this drug one day.

Can't understand why Guest 5587 is on Lisinopril at all with a normal reading of 115/60. Wish my normal reading was that! Not been here for three months. Been on 5 mg for 20 months now. However, because I do suspect side effects of slight anxiety, restlessness - which in turn stirs up a normally dormant stomach ulcer, I've been experimenting taking and then missing days. The only thing is I've not been throwing away a tablet the days I didn't take them, and when I went back to my doctor last time I was asked why I'd only had 78% useage!! BP on tablets is around 120/78. Off tablets can go up to 140/90. Here in Britain medical opinion seems to be to keep the diastolic reading around no more than 82-84. From 90 onwards Hypertension is diagnosed.

I have been taking Lisinopril for two months. My systolic is still high 140, but the diastolic is a much lower 72. My heart rate is it's usual sluggish self, anywhere from 43 to 60. I had diarrhea for about three weeks, it has gone away, but the dry cough is driving me nuts and I also get a lump in the throat sensation with this drug which is uncomfortable. On the plus side, it seems to have lowered my appetite so I lost 10 pounds. I would like to switch to something else though, because I hate the cough and lump in the throat thing.
