I took Estrostep for 1 year and had many strange abdominal pains, dizziness, and major dental problems... I switched to Yasmin and it nearly killed me in 2 months. I had ALL the symptoms mentioned in previous messages on this page, along with many vision problems. I still have spotted vision (looks like floaters), one eye that keeps dilating in a stretched square shape, and my glasses prescription has changed DRASTICALLY every 3 months....just forget about wearing contacts. Contact lenses, which I used to wear all the time, now make me sick (dizzy, disoriented, dry eyes). I have been off of ALL birth control pills for 5 months. Yes, it is still very bad (panic attacks, sharp chest pains), but it is getting better. This website probably saved my life. My doctor still denies everything, although my optometrist has had one patient go through surgery for clots due to the pill, and another die from a stroke. I find it funny my optometrist could tell me more about the side effects than my gyn. I finally found a general practicioner that did report my symptoms to the FDA, and I gave him this website.
For all the men out there...my husband says to BE PATIENT. :)

I started taking Lisinipril to lower my blood pressure about a month ago. since the beginning I felt sleepy, lack of energy, and soon started an almost constant cough and really horrible pain in my left hip/leg.
I had not found this forum at that time, but I did some research using the numerous medical books online. I came across two different pages about coughing and pain in the hip, both of them pointing independently to the same culprit: bradykinin, which happens to be a vasodilator. That is the way Lisinopril acts, lowering BP by dilating blood vessels. I have stopped taking it, and hope the damage to my leg is not permanent. It is really a dangerous drug and should be withdrawn immediately from the market.

My mother had high cholesterol and was on several med's trying to lower it. They at times worked but she also had side effects. My sister was introduced to a company called Young Living Essential Oils. At first she was skeptical like everyone is, but she tried it anyway. She ordered Mineral Essence, Super Cal, and Helichrysum oil for my mother. Helichrysum is a chelator that lowers and regulates cholesterol and reduces blood clotting. You just rub the oil on the bottom of your feet once in the morning and then again before you go to sleep. You also take it in a capsule. You buy the empty capsules from you local store and put about 9-10 drops in one. Magnesium acts as a smooth muscle relaxant and supports the cardiovascular system. It acts as a natural calcium channel blocker for the heart and dilating the heart blood vessels. Mineral Essence and Super Cal are great sources of magnesium. Super Cal comes in a capsule. Mineral Essence comes with a dropper. You just put five dropper fulls of it in a glass of juice or water. I use it every morning before I lift weights. It gives me energy by moving the blood and it makes it so my muscles do not get sore. By the way, all of these are organic with NO SIDE EFFECTS. Y.L. sells nothing but 100% pure organic therapeutic grade A essential oil. Not the junk you by in the stores.
With in one week my mothers blood pressure was normal and she has been that way ever since. That was 9 yrs ago. Since that time my entire family has been hooked on Young Living products. My sister is even now a corporate trainer for them. We swear by their products. That is just one case out of thousands that I have heard and seen about Y.L. correcting an illness. We now do not take any man made drugs. You can see why. They also have lots of great products for muscle pains weaknesses, and everything else you could want. If you would like more info let me know. I can tell you where to get it and how to get the cheapest price. I am just taking time to write this because I know how it is to see someone suffer and then feel like there is nothing more you can do. But guess what, there is!
Thanks

I had a grand-mal in October of '06, so I was first prescribed on Dilating. And then in December of '06 they also had me on Lamictal, but 50mg daily along with 300mg Dilantin. I was totally off Dilantin as of March '07 and was taking 200mg Lamictal daily. I had no side effects from Lamictal until I started noticing in May that I had staring spells. I didnt pay attention to it at first, and then I noticed that my staring spells were happening way more frequently. And if that wasnt bad enough, as time progressed, I started feeling spacey, had shortness of breath every once in a while, and a bit of anxiety. Now it is up to the point where Ive just about had it, since I've been spacing out wayyyy too much, and I sometimes feel SO fatigued for no reason...like the lifes been drained out of me. My vision has also been getting blurry which is another big annoyance. What Im wondering is that why would they give you medicine if it wasnt out for too long or even officially approved? Im hoping I can get off this medicine! I wanna drive and actually be able to pay attention to normal things instead of spacing out.
