This website is a joke! After I had my Mirena inserted 4 months ago I started reading on the internet about possible side effects. I was furious with myself that I hadn't Read up on this before the appointment. There were so many horrible reviews involving hair loss, weight gain, acne, and mood swings! I was so scared and actually thought about removing the Mirena that week. I then found multiple reviews on websites not owned and operated by other drug companies that are trying to scare people in order to prevent the sale and use of the Mirena and the side effects listed here were a 180 degree difference. I have not experienced any weight gain, in fact, I recently was able to shed 5 pounds from picking up running again (so it is possible to LOSE weight on the Mirena as well). I have had zero hair loss, have not had a pimple anywhere or any random hair growth. My live in boyfriend and I have discussed if we've noticed any mood swings or changes and my mood which is usually optimistic and positive has been the same since I had the Mirena inserted. My periods are much lighter and although they can last an extra day or two more than what I was used to, they are light and I have not had any cramping. I'm writing this review not because I absolutely love the Mirena, I think it's a fine form of BC but who LOVES their BC, isn't it all kind of a pain. The Mirena is by far the most convenient form of birth control and I don't worry at all about missing a day and the chance of getting pregnant. I'm writing this review because I encourage everyone to talk more with their doctors about the side effects and look around on the internet for REAL websites.

After 3 days of Levaquin at one 500 mg pill per day for a sinus infection and swollen lymph node, I suffered severe pain in the calf muscles of both legs and am only able to walk short distances, if at all. This started yesterday and I have stopped the drug, am icing my calfs, relying on friends to help me, and praying that there has been no permanent damage.

I'm a 52 year old female and have been taking Zocor for about a year. During the past few months, I've noticed increased muscle pains in my upper legs. It's to the point that I actually hurt when walking, even for short distances. I have also gained about 15 pounds in the past year. It could just be "middle age spread" but I can't help but wonder if this drug is the cause of it. I've also had some visual disturbances in the past month or two, like something that just won't clear out of my eye.....like a film across my eye. Anyone else with similar symptoms? I go back for a physical in a few weeks and am going to ask my MD about another medication. I have genetically elevated cholesterol and low cholesterol diet has not helped previously.

I have been taking 10mg of Lisinopril once a day for about a month, at 1st I was prepared to become dizzy due to the warning on the label, however, that never happen. I continued to take it and noticed I was just tired all the time, walking short distances - I became very fatigued in my legs, I would wake up coughing almost choking, terrible headaches which wouldn't go away, feeling bloated, sinus pressure, I would wake up with my head just pounding, increased body temp, but would also get cold really easily. I just thought maybe it was me and perhaps I just wasn't sleeping enough or stressed out, couldn't really understand why I was feeling this way. This weekend, was the worst, I could tell there was something wrong, I couldn't do anything without my blood pressure rising --- my head was killing me. I stayed still most of the day and took aspirin to try to ease my headache. Nothing seem to work, my husband was so worried he wanted me to go to the ER. Being I know it takes a long time in the ER I really just didn't want to have to sit for hours in a waiting room, I didn't go. I started thinking about when I started getting these symptoms -- it was around the same time I started taking Lisinopril. So I looked it up online and saw the side effects - I decided I'd stop taking it. The next day, my headache went away and I've been feeling better since I stop taking it. I know my blood pressure is still high; which is why I was taking this medication to begin with, but it isn't bad as it was when I was taking it. I'm not sure if it can cause your blood pressure to increase, but for some reason mine did. I called my doctor's office today, my doctor isn't in, but I'm not going to be taking this medication any longer. Thanks to everyone who has posted about your experience - maybe it's not all in my head!

I am now 66 and was on Lipitor for about 10 years and was gradually getting worse, right to the point that my doctor gave me a Hand-I-Cap sticker for my car. I had hip and leg pain so severe I couldn’t function. Not once did my doctor mention Lipitor as a cause but he did have me go through a battery of tests including and MRA to examine circulation, low and behold he told me I had a blockage in my groin and that poor circulation was causing the pain. You guessed it, and arteriogram showed no blockage.
By chance I had watched a person who was only in his 40’s go from a robust person to finally having to use crutches just to get around. Then about a year later I saw him again and he was his old self again. I asked if he had surgery or what he did to recover so quickly and that is when I found out about all of the damage satin drugs can/will do.
I immediately took myself off of Lipitor and now 6 months later I can walk short distances without sever pain. Someday I hope the effect of satin drugs wears off but at my age I will never get back all of the things I missed because of drug companies greed.

I am a 40-year-old female taking 50mg/day of Toprol (for HBP) and have experienced the following side effects:
Fatigue
Lethargy
Pain in legs and arms
Loss of breath (even when walking very short distances)
Odd dreams/nightmares
Rapid weight gain (despite no change in eating/exercising habits)
Unusually heavy menstrual flow
Nosebleeds
The cure is worse than the disease! :-(

After taking Lipitor 10mg for 14 months with no effects till Sept 2005- i now have knee swelling and thigh muscular aches when standing for any length of time, and since mid- Nov, have had very sore hips and muscle aches in that area, plus general stiffness after sitting for a while. Am now having sleeping problems as i have lower back pain which has come on in the last 2 weeks. I went to a liver specialist as the count was up, but apart from asking about my reaction to Lipitor, didn't suggest this as a posibility. I am to see an arthritis specialist on feb 6 th. I was in Europe for 3 months from Jun to Aug and walked everwhere and did lots of stairs! Now I get a lot of pain if I walk only minor distances. I;ve been told it could be a virus or polyarthritis or polymyalgia-but noone is sure. Should i go off the statins? It seems from your letters that it is impossible to tell if it is Lipitor causing these symptoms as the recovery period varies so greatly with each person. I have a family history of heart disease- do i try something else to lower the cholesterol? Meryl- Sydney

I've been on 90mg of prednisone for about a month and a half for nephrotic syndrome and have had some of the more common side effects like the round face, some weight gain, dizzy spells, and some others.
I started to feel better after about 3 weeks on the drug then I started to get a weakness in my legs almost to the point that I can't support my own body. I know that prednisone causes muscle weakness but this seems excessive. I have to keep myself from falling nearly every time I try to walk, even short distances. My doctors are looking into it just to make sure it's not something else but I think it's the drug.
Has anyone else had this problem and does it get any better? As far as my blood work goes, I'm not dehydrated and my potassium levels are fine so we know that is not the problem.
Also, I'm starting to have some heart problems. Before the prednisone my resting heart rate was in the 60's now it's in the upper 90's and even goes up into the 100-120's. And if I even walk to the bathroom it goes into the 150's. And my blood pressure is extremely high. Anyone else dealt with this. It's worrying me and my primary doc seems really worried about it but my kidney specialist just wants me to wait it out and stay on the high dose as long as I can.
I'm at the point where my kindey specialist says if I go off the prednisone it could lead to kidney failure but my primary doc says that if I stay on such a high dose I'm at risk for a heart attack.

I've been taking Ultracet for over SIX months, usually twice daily and sometimes 3 times a day. I herniated a disk a couple years ago and I've had two back surgery since then and have taken every type of prescription drug available, Perocet, Oxycodone and now Ultracet. Ultracet does help with the pain, but it's side effect are just as much of an issue as the scatic nerve and back pain. My main issue is dizziness or being woosey on a daily basis and I do get an upset stomach on occasion. I only drive short distances because of the dizziness and probably shouldn't drive at all. What concerns me is the length of time I've been taking Ultacet. I do believe Ultracet is habit forming or additive no matter what anyone else may say. I need to get off this drug, soon.

i take prozac and wellbutrin. the wellbutrin has SIGNIFICANTLY helped my loss of libido from the prozac.
plus it has given me lots more energy -- i walk more now (and for further distances) than i ever did in my life.
in the beginning i had sleeplessness but that went away after two weeks or so.

After being diagnosed as possibly having pneumonia, Levaquin was prescribed for a 10-day period. I took the medication for 5 days until I noticed severe aching & jolts of pain through my left leg & hip. I have NEVER had problems like this before taking this medication and have since been placed into physical therapy for bursitis in my left hip. I'm still having trouble walking great distances, quickly or sitting for longer than 30 minutes. Needless to say, I did not finish the Levaquin prescription.
