I have had the Merina for 4 years. I never had any problem with it...up untill now. Insertion was easy and my periods stayed regular. No problems at all. I even recommended it to all my friends. This last year I have had so much depression and phantom pregnancies. I keep thinking I am pregnant when I am not. I think my body is not agreeing with the hormones.
My friend had hers removed after 1 month due to weight gain.
My sister's started to fall out and now she is 6 months pregnant. She had it removed as soon as she found out she was preg.
I wanted to let you all know there is a link and phone number on the Merina website to report negative side effects to the FDA.

I was prescribed Zocor for high cholesterol. Almost immediately I began to experience body aches -- some days more severe than others. I would take ibuprofen and it would help. Then, I started getting a pretty strong pain on my hip which radiated down my leg onto my foot. The pain was so severe, even the Motrin 800 mg. pills didn't help it. I am 53 years old, but I felt like a 90 year old. I had problems walking, especially after sitting for an hour or so. I had problems with stairs. Even laying down was painful. I tried heating pads, ointments, etc. When I told my doctor about it, she said that this was a typical side effect of statins, and that because I am diabetic, I need to continue taking Zocor to keep my cholesterol down. Just the other day, I stopped taking Zocor for 3 glorious days and guess what? NO pain!!! I resumed it because my doctor insists that I stay on it, but I wish there was something else I could take that wouldn't cause pain.

I had the mirena inserted on july 11th, 2008 the insertion itself I didn't feel was too bad. A lot of cramping during and for the rest of that day. I got up that next morning and haven't had any pain since then. I did go back a week later just for an ultrasound to make sure it was exactly where it need to be. I stopped spotting about a week ago and feel great! My doctor had explained to me that if I wasn't feeling 110% after the 3 month mark that he would take it out. He had explained to me that no one should have side effects, bleeding or spotting after the first 3 months. So feel maybe everyone just different. Mirena would effect each person in a different way.

Hi everyone,
Found this site and found it very reassuring, as I can relate to so many of you out there. Here is what is happening to me:
December 08 had Mirena fitted for irregular heavy periods, spotted/bled almost continuously once it was inserted, but gradually the periods became a bit lighter. A typical period lasted around 18 days, which was much longer than before I had the Mirena fitted. Had visual migraines (partial loss of sight), doctor whipped out the Mirena on 7th July, still spotting - into day 26 now! Feel really fed up with all this, have lower back ache, which I didn't have before, pelvic pains as though I am about to start my period, anxiety levels up to around 8/10, insomnia, just generally feeling really low, shakey and tearful thinking something is terribly wrong with me. Have an appointment tomorrow with the gynecologist and am going to ask him for a hysterectomy as my life is being ruled with these ongoing problems. Last year I had a scan which revealed I have fibroids and a thickening of the womb.
Does anybody else have a lot of spotting? Is it a post Mirena symptom?

I am 31 years old. I was first on warfarin when I was 15. I was on the BCP and a smoker as well. just 2 months of being on the pill I developed a DVT in my left leg. I was on the warfarin for about 2 years then came off. I reember being tired alot but that was it. Then again when I was 22 I developed yet again another DVT in my L leg.. as well as 3 PE in my lungs. I was prescribed warfarin and I was on that for 2 years .. was taken off due to dizzy spells. Now again I am on warfarin .. for the rest of my life. I have a genetic disorder for clots and had a mini stroke. By the grace of GOD I only have a limp in my right foot... the side effects I experiance now are dizzy spells, headaches, blurred vision, and muscle aches and spasms. If your docot is denieying these side effect they really just dont think its serious enough to take you off. All my doctors over the last 16 years have all told me of these side effects. What you eat and drink has alot to do with it and other meds you may be takeing. I am also on chantex and beleive the two together are to be the cuas se of my syptoms. I also experiance tingling for shor periods. I have been on it now for one week. My doctor told me once it is regulated to a point where I dont have to up my dosage or lower my dosage and I am pretty much at a steady dosage the side effect will cease, until then I think if you dont like your docotor and dont beleive hes looking out for you in your best interrest yo ushould find another one.... Thats important... you must have a docotor you can trrust and one whom will listen to you.

Hi, I started Yaz about 2 weeks ago. I am already on Zoloft for minor depression and anxiety. Stared Yaz the sunday I started my period. First the moodiness started, then the headaches. I thought I was getting sick with a cold because I had razor blade pain in my throat that I ended up attributing to Reflux. Went to the doctor to get meds to treat that. The pain went away then I got a metallic taste that I couldn't get rid of. Went to the dentist and nothing was wrong with my fillings. I thought I was going crazy because then I had vaginal itching and odor. I wasn't have a full period but I never stopped bleeding from my period when I started the pack. After finding this website I stopped mid cycle. This has scared the crap out of me. I know I haven't been on it for long, but can anyone tell me if they have stopped in the middle of the pack and how long it took for your period to be on a normal schedule again.

My 12 year old son started taking Singulair for asthma/allergy. His personality changed and he became physically aggressive and uncontrollabe. He also experienced vivid nightmares. He was never aggressive in the past. It got to the point that I thought he had a bi-polar disorder. The side effects seemed to build up slowly in him and continued to intensify. I am so thankful that I came across this web site. When I read the other postings, I realized that the Singulair was the cause of his personality change. We contacted his doctor and took him off the Singulair. He is back to his normal, sweet self. I think that the makers of Singulair need to be made aware of these side effects that so many people seem to be experiencing. Also, the Singulair did not seem to help his asthma or allergy symptoms.

I have overall been pleased with the nuvaring, but last week i experienced my first UTI. I thought it was just from sex but now after reading all these experiences, i think it might be from the ring. I decided to take it bc my boyfriend insisted i was on some sort of birth control and i was previously on the pill but never could remember to take it so i figured the ring would be convenient. I just got an antibiotic today for the infection so i hope it goes away and i hope the nuvaring doesn't give me anymore problems!
