i had my mirena inserted 2 1/2 years ago after i had my 4th child. I just had surgery to have it removed it had moved and went through my uterus. Very painful, this is after having very horrible eczema and hives all over my hands and feet. I can't use my unless i have gloves on because of the blisters and they are permanently scarred from the eczema which we think was caused from the mirena because i didn't have it until about 2 months ago when i started other symptoms. Then i found out that it had went through my uterus which required laparoscopic surgery to remove and to top it off no health insurance so what i thought was going to be a less expensive birth control just cost me about 30,000.00 including doctor bills!!!!

I had my mirena put in in the middle of march 2008 after i had my daughter, every month after i had it put in i would wake up at about 2 am just urinated blood and in so much pain that my husband would have to take me to the hospital, i finally got so sick of it when i ended up in the hospital at 3 am that i took it out myself, it did not hurt at all but after that and sence i took it out i have not had one uti. Also before i had it put in i had only had one and i was 13, i was wondering if this is something i could get a lawsuit for because i do not have insurance and i have so many hospital and doctor bills piling up and i can not pay them if any body has any answers for me PLEASE let me know cause i really need to do something.

I have been on Tri-Sprintec for 7 years. Over this last year I have noticed my body either skips a month for my period, or I have two periods in 1 month. This month I happened to have two periods in one month and a period starting at different times. Spotting has accrued the last week, and last night at 2 am I woke up crying in pain. I am feeling really depressed, and seem to want to be alone as well. I feel cranky, overwhelmed, my head hurts and my overies. My sister was diagnosed with cysts, and I am wondering if I shouldn't be taking this anymore. A couple of times also in the morning I've headed toward the shower and about blacked out, running back to bed. Is this normal? These side effects have started this year and I have been on it for 7 years? My skin seems normal knowing I also have hypothyroidism. Should I take something else, I have been missing a lot of work, and my doctor doesn't really think nothing is wrong other than taking it some nights at different times. My boobs always feel like they are going to fall off, but better yet I also feel I have gained a lot of weight with it. Going from 110 pound to 140 pounds. Should I be taking something different? If I am off the pill, which I have been my cramps are so horrible, like knives jabbing my insides. I have been crying a lot out of no where, when nothing is that bad, other than whooping doctor bills. Stressed out, and probably on the verge of losing my job over not getting the right help from the right doctor. What do I do? lost of appetite, or some months large appetites, weight gain, weight loss, depressed, angry, mood swings, more than one period in 1 month.

Hi..I am 22yrs old, I have a 29month old daughter. I had the Mirena placed a few months after her birth. The first one I had placed came out of place and I had to have it removed. I had another put in because I tried the shot and it made me an emotional wreck and gain too much weight. So my GYN decided it was best to put another one in. I had that done July 2007. I have been bleeding almost non stop ever since. A few days of non bleeding here and there but that's all. I finally got an appointment and went to a new GYN he checked for it and said that he couldn't find it. He sent me for an ultrasound. Well the ultrasound showed that it was still in place but not doing it's job. I had eggs on both ovaries and the strings are gone. Therefore my doctor recommended that I try something else. The only problem is he can't get it out without surgery. So I am scheduled for surgery on May 2nd. I just can't believe that I am gonna have to be put to sleep to have it removed. I have never been put to sleep in my life and I am scared to death. I also don't feel that I should be responsible for the surgery and doctor bills. What do you all think? Please reply back or email me at ******

Hi all.
I am really dis-heartened right now. I cannot seem to get this thing taken out yet. My husband and I are self-employedso we have to take out our own health insurance. Our ins. company said that side-effects are a "disorder of the reproductive system" and there is a six-month waiting period to have anything done and we have just gotten it. So I went to an after hours clinic that I called waited until today thinking I could get it removed. WRONG!!! :( Today they said they could not remove it. More over, naturally the doc there said that there was no way all these side effects were from the mirena. I was so upset.
To anyone who has had this taken out, how many of your symptoms have gone away? How long has it taken?
Please e-mail me at ****** or private message me and let me know your experiences with post-removal and side-effects that cleared up. I am ready to take action on this mirena as women need to be informed of the possible side-effects of this drug. I have been suffering for 1 year and 10 months.
Thanks for reading!

Hi, I'm at home resting after having the Mirena (I don't want to call it my Mirena because I don't ever want to see it again) surgically removed yesterday. After 2 kids, one with special needs, and being on the pill on and off for 20 years, I decided to get a Mirena inserted. My husband was not in support but said it was my body. He even told me he'd get a vasectomy but I went ahead. It was very painful to have it inserted, I almost fainted a number of times. What I didn't know at the time is at insertion the OB had perforated my uterus! When I went back a month later to look for the string, it couldn't be found. After confirming that I wasn't pregnant, I had an X-Ray. The X-Ray should the IUD in a weird place. I went back to the OB and I don't believe she was truthful with me. She said that the Mirena was in a high place in the uterus and had partially perforated the uterus but I still had birth control and not to worry. She said to come back in a few months. Needless to say, I did not and would not go back to her again. I went to a new wonderful OB, she took one look at the X-Ray and said, no way is this in your uterus and you do not have birth control right now. YIKES! Well, I am resting now and will miss three days of work because of this nightmare! The other thing that is so bizarre is that I go off the pill so I would not have any hormones added to my body. I was never told the Mirena had hormones. Glad to have this over with. Aloha, K

I am a woman in my early 50's I was given nuva ring to control my migraines a menopausel symptom. In July of last year I was taken to the ER room with serveral pulmonary embolisms and lay near death for 36 hours as I was given the dangerous clot buster drug. The vena cava filter was inserted in my vein and it was not removed because this condition exsisted past the safe removel time. It was a hard recovery and I was just lucky that I did not die. After several tests from cardiologists and hemotologists, pulmonary doctors and many more physicians. It was determined without a doubt that the Nuva Ring caused this condition. Unfortunately, as a result . I must stay on blood thinner the rest of my life and I have a foriegn object in a very important area of my body that will also be there forever. This means blood testing on a regular basis for life and blood thinner for life, The hospital and doctor bills for this incident have been astronomical and there are many more to come. Please use extreme caution in using this method. It is indeed dangerous. Our home is 5 minites from a hospital that happens to have a quick response time to these conditions. We were just a few days from leaving on a road trip. I often wonder what would have happened if I was away from home and out on the road somewhere when these clots hit my lung. But by the grace of God I would surely have died.AM

My Daughter is 15 she was put on singulair 2 years ago. She started having severe stomach pains. The doctor started her on pepcid ac. It never got better, just worse. A year later the stomach pain was so bad she was hospitalized. They couldn't find anything wrong. She had several c.t's and ultrasounds of the upper right abdominal area several times showing nothing. Then she got worse she was experiencing 51 side effects from the singulair she was in the e.r every week including Children's memorial in Chicago. Her eyes and lips swell till they bleed and crack along with the stomach pain and low grade fever for 2 weeks at a time. She would be literally in the fetal position telling the doctors she was in pain and they couldn't find anything wrong. So they would send her home. She began talking about suicide and we have her seeing a psychologist who kept saying nothing was wrong with her because the tests don't show anything. Our doctor bills exceed 40, 000 dollars from last year just ur portion. Never once did any of those doctors say maybe its the singulair. They keep changing and adding new meds and still couldn't figure it out. We had to get a tutor and have now got her on state disability an I.e.p for education because she swells everyday. Her skin peals off her face after the swelling goes down. She wont even go out in public. I mentioned it to the pharmacy and they said oh my god stop taking it. They asked why didn't our doctor take her off along time ago. The doctor still wont say that it is due to the singulair. Now the suicidal effect is coming forth for the f.d.a. I want every parent to know not to let their child take this drug! Please ! L.S in L.I.T.H., Il

When a class action lawsuit is filed, let me know....this drug should be taken of off the market immediately. We started all of this with an OB/GYN that prescribed this “miracle pill” and now have had to go not only to our primary doctor, but also a psychiatrist, gastrenologist, college campus counselors, psychologists, psychiatrist, and the campus medical doctors; All the while, accumulating enormous doctor bills. All the doctors say, "No, Yasmin won't cause those problems" (except the college campus doctors..wonder why? Hmm.. could it be that they are not in private practice?)....well, I beg to differ. Everyone needs to give this website to their doctor so the doctors can hear from the patients that have taken this drug, and not listen to the pharmaceutical companies that are pushing this drug to be the "miracle pill". Maybe if enough people complain and go to the media, we can get rid of this drug!
My daughter who is 18 was put on Yasmin because of irregular periods, hormonal imbalance, etc. We were told it was the new “miracle pill”. It will make you loose weight, regulate your periods, clear up acne, you name it, it will fix it. Yeah, right.
She started taking this pill in March 2007. She was off at college but called to tell me she was experiencing horrible headaches, behind the eyes. She complained about her stomach hurting, but we just figured it was the stress of freshman year at college. Then she said she got where she couldn’t eat when she went to a restaurant. When she came home in May for the summer, I noticed a total personality change. For example, she was always a neat freak, and now she wouldn’t clean her room. The first day when she drove home, she started crying she was so mad about the traffic. Yes, she has always had a little road rage, but this was ridiculous.
By June, not only could she not be in crowds, like at a restaurant, but now she is having full blown panic attacks and IBS. We called the OBGYN and they said, “Yasmin won’t cause this, go see your primary doctor”. I knew that the only thing that had changed with her was taking the YASMINE. I knew it had something to do with all of this so I “Googled Yasmin” and this website (http://www.medications.com/se/yasmin) was the first one I looked at. All of her symptoms matched everyone else’s! I am so glad we found this website, it explained everything and I had her to stop Yasmin immediately.
So we went to the primary doctor, explained about the Yasmin and how we thought it was the culprit of everything. Of course this doctor also says, “Yasmin won’t cause that”. We told him to look it up on the internet and see how there are over 3000 complaints on this drug, more than any of the other drugs on the market.
Besides the emotional problems she starting having, her pulse and blood pressure was sky high, so he puts her on medicine for that, and puts her on an anxiety medicine and sends her to a psychiatrist. She is very thirsty all the time, and develops IBS. She can’t eat without having pains in her stomach. So, now we’ve have gone from having just irregular periods, to all of the above, plus a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist doubles her medicine (and puts her Pamine for the IBS) because the panic attacks are gone, but she still is having a lot of nervousness, anxiety, can’t sleep at night, crazy thoughts, worrying all the time, etc. A month later he changes her medicine again, to Effexor. The first 2 weeks, she does okay, but the packet doubles the strength after 2 weeks. It takes 4 weeks for it to take full effect. Right after she doubles this medicine, it is like her senses are on hyper-mode. She can taste everything that is in her food (chili powder, seasonings, etc…), taste the metal in water, and she can hear someone’s phone vibrating, in another room.
Then she goes back to college at the end of August 2007, and it’s horrible. The Effexor is having bad, bad side effects. We called the psychiatrist that she was using at home and he doubled the dose. That was the worse thing they could’ve done. The side effects were worse than ever. I had her to immediately go to a psychiatrist on campus. She told him the whole story and he believed her! Needless to say we switched doctors. He then lowered her dose back down to ½ a dose and hopefully can slowly get her off of all this medicine.
The newest thing she has developed is being hypoglycemic. The campus psychiatrist sent her to a campus medical doctor and he told her that they would get to the bottom of this. He tested her for everything under the sun. Low blood sugar is the only thing they found. But, she hasn’t taken the Yasmin since May. No telling what the results would have came back like if it was done at the time she was taking Yasmin.
Thank goodness she has counselors and doctors there at the campus that believes that Yasmin can cause all of these problems, and are working with her. From what I have read from the people that have used this medicine, although most doctors do not agree, Yasmin takes like 6 months to get out of your system. I think I am going to believe the testimonials of the people who take this medicine, over a doctor who prescribes it.
If everyone goes to the media, their doctors, the FDA, congressmen, and make them aware of these horrible effects, surely we can get this drug off of the market! Does anyone know a class action lawyer that would pursue this? For my child to have to go through all of this is ridiculous, not to mention costly. What do we know of the long term effects this drug will have if it is doing all of this when you first start taking it?
If you have the same concerns as me about this drug, and would be interested in looking into a class action lawsuit, please email: ****** I would be interested to see how many would want to pursue this.

I am so relieved to find this site and others like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started Yasmin (by a mistake at the pharmacy! i had been taking Yaz) on Jan. 3, 2007. Within a month, I had an AWFUL COLD and thought, Oh, it's cold season. But the cold didn't go away, and I developed a DOUBLE EAR INFECTION which led to a PERFORATED EARDRUM! It was incredibly painful, and I was in tears. I had NEVER HAD AN EAR INFECTION BEFORE, but at that point, it didn't even occur to me that it could possibly have anything to do with Yasmin. Then, in mid-March, I started feeling SHORT-OF-BREATH in the evenings especially, but I wasn't exercising or anything. This worried me, but I chalked it up to stress. After a week, tho, I decided to google "Yasmin side effects" and found so many women with similar issues, and an explanation of how the pill effects ALL fluid levels in your body, including your middle ear.
I just wrote a letter to the USFDA asking them to take it off the market. This pill has serious side effects, and because of it, I missed work, classes, and had to pay doctor bills out-of-pocket.
I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT YASMIN CAUSED MY EAR INFECTIONS. How could it possibly be coincidence that I'd never had an ear infection before, and after one month, I had not one, but 2?!?
Also - I've felt ANXIETY and have been MOODY - but who wouldn't when they have a double ear infection and perforated eardrum? ;)
I threw the pills away immediately and will see my gynie soon. If anyone's thinking about getting off of it, DO!!! I'm so glad I did!
