I have taken hydrochlorothiazide for years and was told it was safe and worked well with blood pressure meds. I noticed that my weight gain would be 4 pounds on and off for no apparent reason. I also noticed my breasts felt like it did when I was nursing my babies when the milk came in. While on this med my potassium was off so I was on 3 fat potassium pills a day. Then I became light headed and became depressed and my mind was really awful. I knew I didn't have Alzheimer but knew something was wrong. Doctors thought I was a hypochondriac I am sure. I saw in Best Pills Worst Pills that you can have mental confusion as a side effect. I found out that when I went off of the pill for even a day the mental problems were gone and when I went back on the problems came back. After ingesting too much salt at a meal I ended up in ER. Doctor on call told me to quit my waterpill and also the potassium supplement, Since that time my weight has not fluated one ounce, my breasts no longer hurt and the mental chaos is gone. Such a relief to not have to worry where my potassium level was and never thought I would feel good mentally again as I was talking suicide. Meds they prescribe can kill us and we have to research all side effects ourselves it seems.

I was started last Thursday for sinus infection. I ended up in ER on Sunday with what I thought was a migraine headache with nausea and vomiting. Which I have a history of. Thank God the doctor on call did not give me the normal shot which I usually get and send me home. He was did blood work and found out the my liver function test was so high that it was not safe for me to go home so I spent two days in the hospital to get my liver functions back to safest enough level to send me home. And they are not normal yet. So be ware of this meds or any meds that it is related to

I got a large dose. I think 120 mg. in a shot. I had strep throat and had severe tonsil swelling and the uvula was enlarged at least three times the normal size. I'm concerned now as to what to do next. I have a prescription for a week where I wean down the dose to I believe, 80 mg for three days, then to 40 for three or two days (I'm not sure cause I didn't get the prescription picked up yet. I just am remembering what the doctor said. ) I'm so concerned that it'll mess me up! The dosage continues to one pill for so many days and then to a half. The swelling has subsided substantially, and it really helped. I don't have any other symptoms as yet. Maybe a sour stomach. I'm afraid of the symptoms and any weight gain.

I AM A 42 YR OLD WOMAN WHO JUST FOUND OUT I AM PREGNANT. A WEEK PRIOR TO FINDING OUT I HAVE HAD CRAMPING, THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE TUBAL SO I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND EVERYTHING WAS RIGHT WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE. HOWEVER, THE DOCTOR ON CALL SAID THAT I HAD A SMALL INFECTION IN THE LOWER REGION AND PRESCRIBED THIS OMNICEF. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON 4 DAYS NOW SINCE STARTED TAKING THIS DRUG AND I DON'T KNOW IF THE INFECTION HAS CLEARED BUT I KNOW THE CRAMPS ARE STILL THERE AND I HAVE THE DIS-COLORED STOOLS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE...AFTER READING 2 PAGES OF TESTIMONIES, I HAVE DECIDED TO STOP TAKING THIS DRUG IN FEAR THAT IT MIGHT DO SOMETHING TO HARM MY UNBORN CHILD.

First I would like to say thank you to all the posts for filling me in on the side effects of Mirena. I wish I would have read this sooner!! Here's MY short story....II am 34 years old no children and do not want them, I was having problems with birth control for years making me sick. I saw the add on TV for Mirena and though "HEY THIS IS A GOOD OPTION FOR ME" Well....BIG MISTAKE...On Saturday December 22nd I had Mirena inserted. I was told it would take 5 minutes and have no pain at all. A little grossed out by the fact of having to do this while with my period I still went ahead with it. My 5 minute painless insertion turned out to be an excruciating 45 minutes of poking pinching and jamming this piece of plastic into my cervix. The pain was unreal but subsided a few minutes after. I though I was in the clear....OH NO....about a 1/2 hour after the cramping started. I thought my Uterus was being shredded inside me the pain was so bad. I called my OBGYN and he said this may be a result since I had no children. He told me to take Motrin and in a day or so I'd be fine. WELL.....for the past 6 days I have been in so much pain I couldn't stand up. I had horrible bloating, diarrhea, bad headaches & cold sweats in the middle of the night. During the day I was nauseous probably from the pain but who knows. I literally killed my stomach with all the Motrin I was taking. Yesterday after being in pain all week, ruining my xmas and almost my new years, I googled Mirena Side Effects and found this site!! thank you ladies....I immediately called the emergency line for my obgyn got a doctor on call and told her i wanted it OUT NOW. She made me stick it out till this morning 9am. I went in and MY GOD IN HEAVEN the pain of taking it OUT was worse then putting it IN however the pain lasted for only about 3 hours and I'm OK now. My abdomen is still bloated and very tender but I am sure that will go away. I printed all of these side effects and gave a copy to my doctors office and told them that maybe they should read up some more before they put any of their patients through this. My mother was right....it is not natural to put something foreign up into your body and it be healthy. So, to all.... DON'T DO IT!!! its not worth it!!
Happy New Year!!

My husband was prescribed Levaquin for epididymitis. After one day, he felt substantially worse. He is a very physically active man but could hardly walk and his arms were extremely painful. He couldn't write or grip anything. I had to talk him into going to the emergency room and he had to literally crawl to get into the car. The doctor on call tested enzymes in his blood--apparantly Levaquin can cause a condition that causes the muscles in the body to secrete this enzyme and break down the muscle. His bloodwork was positive for this enzyme. The test, I believe, was something like CPK or CPG. Someone could research that. He immediately took him off of the meds, prescribed an anti-inflammatory, but it took another day for the pain to disappear. The doctor warned that it can come back with phsycial active if there isn't adequate rest for about 2 weeks afterwards. There is also a name for this condition but I'd need to reserach that as well.

Within a week of taking 20mgs of Lisinopril, I developed intense itching around my lower back, then in my hands in feet. Within 24 hours, I started having tingling, aching, and deep pain in different areas of my body, but most intense in my left arm and hand. I also had tingling in different areas of my body, headache, neck and back pain. I could not sleep and was starting to get depressed, as well as stressed. I called my doctor, but he thought I was suffering from nicotine withdrawal. I had stopped smoking two weeks before. Last night I couldn't bear it anymore (I had not slept for 5 nights due to the pain and itching), and went to the emergency room. The doctor on call confirmed I was having a alergic reaction. The on call doctor gave me various medication to fight the reaction, and pain medication. I slept all day today, and feel almost normal again. If this happens to you, don't wait a week, see a docter immediately. Don't suffer the pain me and my family did.

I am a 44 year old male in fairly good health. My doctor prescribed Levaquin (500 mg), and I took my first dose at bed time. Within 2 hours I had never experiences quite a reaction in my life. My legs started to hurt, and I started getting very cold. My teeth were chattering. I tried to go back to bed but couldn't sleep as I was freezing. (This is New York in the middle of the summer with the a/c off).

I actually called the doctor on call at 3:00 a.m. and he said I can let it pass through my system or go to an emergency room.

So I let it pass and finally went to sleep by 5:00 a.m. covered in blankets. I woke up at 9:00 a.m. with sweat on my sheets and realized the drug must have wore off.

Needless to say, I will not be taking a second dose tonight before I consult with my doctor after the weekend.

This was all to help what appeared to be a sinus infection.

I say to all reading this, be careful with this powerful drug.
