33 year old, 125lb female with cholesterol of 234. I was put on Simvastatin 40mg, which I took fot 3 night only. All hell broke loose, insomnia, hands are numb, severe joint/back pain, extreme weakness... The thing is, I took it for 3 nights & realized it wasn't for me. I've been off of it for 3 weeks, but the symptoms still persist, rendering me pretty much dead.... I was told by a few that putting me on 40 mg to start off probably did the job... Three week of living hell & my primary physician don't have answers for me!

am having severe abdominal, pelvic, lower back and hip pain. I went to see my doctor who thought I might have a herniated disk in my back. Having no insurance I had to pay cash for the doctor visit and X-Rays and was told I may be suffering from a herniated disk in my back. X-Rays showed no such thing. I was given a muscle relaxer, pain meds and an anti-inflammatory med. Through the next week the pain began to intensify to the point I had to leave work. I went straight to the ER where I was given steroids and a stronger pain medication. By the way, pain medication has no effect on me so I have been suffering for quite a long time. The ER doctor did recommend I see a gynecologist right away. He thought for sure something was terribly wrong. This was just last night and after reading all the comments above, I am pretty certain this is my problem. Having no insurance my clinic would not see me so I have to go to another doctor who said I must pay $200.00 up front just to get in the door. I have had my Mirena for 2 years and was doing just fine other than having problems with the headaches, zero libido and uuuggghhh, that weight gain thing and a few other problems, but now I am convinced that no woman should use the Mirena. I have already been through all of the with the Norplant. Another horrible contraceptive. If it is indeed the Mirena, I will have to have it removed and most likely will need a hysterectomy. Wish me luck finding a doctor to that with no insurance.

My 16 year old daughter has been injured by Gardasil. She was a
healthy, active teenage girl before Gardasil was pushed on us at a
routine doctor visit. After receiving 2 of the 3 shots, my daughter has
experienced severe overall weakness, numbness/tingling in both legs and
left arm, chest pains, racing heart, pressure in head, vision problems,
back pain, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, dizziness, just
to name a few. She has been in the ER twice, once by ambulance for
stopping breathing 3 times. She's seen several doctors. She's had a CT
scan done. All tests come back normal (which is typical with all of the
injured 'gardasil girls'). Her blood panel showed high on
immunoglobulin E (131H) and Anti-streptolysin O (208H) which the doctor
'thought' was Rheumatic Fever. Another doctor has said he did not
believe she had Rheumatic Fever.

My 16 year old daughter got her first Gardasil shot on January 9th, 2009. Her doctor practically pushed this on us during a routine doctor visit. The dr told us it was safe and would protect my daughter from numerous things. She never once told us of any side effects and made me feel like if I didn't get her vaccinated, I was being a 'bad mom'.
Shortly after the first vaccine, we were in Walmart and my daughter started feeling like she was going to pass out. I thought it was because she hadn't eaten well that day so I bought her a candy bar and she ate it. (She's had several more of these episodes over the last few months.)
Then she started having severe leg pains that I thought were just 'growing pains'.
After the second shot on March 9th, 2009 she started having severe dizzy spells where she would run into things. Again I did not think anything of it other than maybe she hadn't eaten well that day. Then she started having numbness/pain/tingling in both legs and left arm. This is when I received an email about Gardasil that opened my eyes.

I started researching and found out about all these other girls that are having the same, if not worse, symptoms! I was in shock and disbelief.
That same day, Friday, March 20th, 2009, she had an attack that was so bad I had to take her to the ER. At the hospital, they ran blood tests and did a CT scan. All tests came back normal. The doctor there told me not to get the third shot because he said my daughter was having an allergic reaction to the vaccine.

Since Friday, March 20th, I have been researching nonstop. My daughter has been having new symptoms almost daily such as back pain, bladder pain, pain behind both kneecaps, severe weakness, tingling in both legs and left arm, left arm is very weak, nausea, weight loss, etc.

Friday night, she had an episode where her entire body was jerking uncontrollably and she was in pain with her legs and left arm. Her heart was racing so fast and she was having trouble breathing. (she constantly says she feels like she cant get a deep breath and that it hurts).
I was able to get her relaxed enough to go back to sleep.

On Monday, March 23rd, I called her doctor and told them what was going on. They told me to bring her right in. They also said that VARS had contacted them asking for my daughters' medical records. ( I had already reported to VARS before calling the doctor).

At the doctors office, I talked to her doctor about all of these cases and deaths that have been reported. She kept saying it was not the Gardasil. I asked her how she could be so sure, since this is such a NEW vaccine, nobody knows what to expect! She eventually started partially agreeing with me and examined my daughter. She called to get the reports from what the hospital had done and said she wanted to do more bloodwork. I had to take her back in to the dr's office the following day, Tuesday, for more blood to be drawn. They took 6 vials and said we wont have the results for about a week.

I am CERTAIN that my daughter is suffering because of the Gardasil shots!
She was a healthy, happy, vibrant, energetic 16 year old. Now she is tired all the time, weak, sick, and cant do her school work. She is very scared because of what we have found out from other girls.

I'm afraid for what is to come! Every day she seems to have a new symptom.

I found a great support group at ******
They have been a great help to me over these last few days. They have done their homework and are working very hard to get our government to do a thorough investigation into Merck and Gardasil before more of our beautiful daughters are harmed or killed.

I urge everyone to educate yourselves before you vaccinate with Gardasil!
If you want more information or if you want copies of the documents that we have found, including a Warning Letter that was sent from the FDA to Merck last year that found them in violation of NUMEROUS things, come to our ****** group.

I have polymyalgia and the rheumatologist put me on 15 mg prednisone a day for one month then 12 1/2 mg 2 weeks then 10 for two weeks and now 7 1/2 for a month then down to 5 mg next month til next doctor visit. The only side effect I feel I am experiencing is not being able to loss weight. I have not gained any in the 3 month on the meds, but have been really watching my weight and can't seem to lose any. I do at times get a hot flash, not at night but in the daytime, but compared to the pain and stiffness from the polymyalgia.. I'm a happy camper. Before I couldn't get in or out of the tub or car the pain was so bad! Mornings were unbearable. I am 150 pound 54 year old female.
Does anyone else feel good about this drug and have had success with it. My doctor wants me off it in a year.

My son is 11 years old. He has been on Singulair for about six years. Ihave taken him to see a psychologist twice because of his terrible mood swings. He was diagnosed with depression last year. I am very concerned about this drug now. He has also suffered from migraines for two years. I also pulled him out of school and started homeschooling him because of the stress of school was causing three migraines a month. I also have a 19 year old boy who is not on singulair now. He took it for 8 years and was diagnosed with ADHD. He also went through depression as a child. I am making a appointment for my son to go back to his allergy doc tomorrow. Also I am not blaming my sons illness on singulair, but I am terrible concerned that it could have harmed my sons.

I have been taking simvastatin for about 2 years with good results, but then I started having severe, hang over type headaches plus I started having irregular heart beat (skipping a beat). I just started stopping the med and hoping the symptoms disappear. Also, feel low energy and tired, but anti-anxiety meds that I have taking for years can have this affect as well. The first generic statin drug I took caused almost immediate muscle and joint aches. I need to schedule a doctor visit to discuss this issue because no blood tests have been run in nearly a year...did have 3 at 6 month intervals..no problems. New doctor, new city..not a good situation or comfort zone.

My story:
First of all, thank you all so much for your postings. I, as well, am sitting here in tears finally realizing that I'm not the only one going through this. I am 32 with 3 kids (13, 11, 7) and with the exception of my pregnancies always used Depo-provera for my bc method. I was lucky in that I never experienced the terrible weight gain and side effects that many women using Depo often did. After my divorce 5 years ago, I finally decided to stop the birth control. I was not sexually active and it seemed like more of a hassle just to not have a period any longer. The two years I had no bc in me...I felt fantastic. Normal, balanced, happy. Then I met Matt. I decided to try bc pills again, but as historically is normal for me...had severe breakthrough bleeding. (14 day periods..even on Yaz)

So I went back to the depo this past September. I had a little weight gain, and some mild acne. Not severe, but enough to make me talk to the doctor about it at my three month check. So he tells me about Mirena! The same hormone base as depo, but since it sits intra-uterine, the hormones are not quite as systemic, and my symptoms should decrease significantly.

SHOULD! but DIDN"T!

Periods: Since I had already been on depo, I simply did not have periods. I did have some mild spotting right after insertion...and did notice a slight brownish tinge occasionally, especially after intercourse, but nothing significant. It wasn't until the end of February (2 months after insertion) that I noticed a "period." It was nothing more than spotting and only lasted 3 days. But then I had another one 2 weeks later, and again 2 weeks after that.

Weight: My starting weight, late August 2007, was 145 pounds. My last doctor visit on April 7 weighed me in at 175. From September to December on depo...I gained about 10 pounds. From December through now...I'm up another 25 pounds. Please keep in mind that I used to work out anywhere form 2-4 times per week. Around mid-February, I increased to 4-5 times per week...and for the last month have been working out 5-7 times per week. (I'm not any kind of health freak...and am irritated because I don't feel like I have a life anymore. My life consists of working, kids, and my flipping treadmill!) Over the last month, I have also decreased my caloric intake to 1200-1500 calories per day. I'm still gaining.

Acne: Plus the acne went from mild to severe. To the point that I ended up going to a dermatologist in early March and am now on my second course of treatment with no luck. The next course is Accutane...which if you don't know about...simply google it. I have no intention of putting that in my body!

Depression: So I call my doctor and of course they say it couldn't be the Mirena. Now I'm feeling really crazy and Matt's wondering what he's gotten himself into being with this girl who cries at Hallmark commercials, and is moody, and always in a bad mood, and now is getting worse because she can't fit into anything in her closet, and is dreading summer not only for the fear of getting into a bathing suit...but if I go swimming I'm absolutely dreadful of people seeing what my face and skin looks like with no make-up due to the acne.

Pain: Shortly after the first of the year, I noticed pain in my lower back...I figured it was due to shoveling the drive and whatnot...just everyday things. Then the pain in my shoulders started; the right one especially. (I'm a healthy 32 year old. I cut down a tree in my yard by myself two summers ago.) Joint pain is not an option and rather new territory for me. So I go to the doc who wants me in PT 3 times a week...anti-inflammatories, cortisone injections...the works. (I settled with anti-inflammatories.) I had never even heard of this as a possible side effect until I read it on these postings.

I looked at my medicine cabinet this weekend. I feel like I could run a pharmacy out of my home. Medications for acne, joint pain, depression, anxiety. Plus the cost of co-pays and deductibles. And it hit me. With the exception of my Claritin for seasonal allergies...every medication I am now taking is simply to combat the side effects of this T-shaped hormonal vehicle snuggled in my womb! The I saw the Special K commercial: "Who's going to win? The bathing suit? or you?"

Well guess what! I decided it's going to be ME!

I finally decided I've had it and have an appointment on May 6th to have it removed. Matt can wrap it or snip it...but I can't keep doing this to myself. I've made a decision to use no form of hormonal birth control. I'm thinking about trying the FemCap which is basically a silicone cervical cap. It needs to be used with spermicide, but no hormones!

The idea of feeling like I did last year again is the only thing keeping me going right now. To be happy, and confident, and just feel balanced and whole again...I'll post more later after it's removed. In the meantime...if anyone has heard of any class action lawsuits with Mirena, I'd be interested to know about it.

Good luck to all of us!

I have been on here for 6 months now. Please read the rest of my postings. My son is now 5 and doing great! I have my child back. He has been off Singulair since October 07. It took a few days to see little improvement. It took a month to make strides. And now we are almost home. Thank God. I too until I found this website was so distraught. My son had every test in world, comes from about as stable as you can get happy loving catholic home. We eat healthy organic foods and I am a medical professional to top it off. So for anyone to get on here and questions a parents "parenting" or to call them ignorant for not stating their complaints until now is simply a moron! I see the side effects first hand this has had on children. I too was unaware of the problem myself until my son became the victim at only the innocent age of 4. Merck knows what is going on. There needs to be a class action lawsuit. I am so proud of Kate whose son became the victim of Merck who took his innocent life. She went beyond blogging and took it to media. Imagine if all of us became motivated enough to realize the drug company used and abused our children or selves. Write oprah, bill o riley, merck the fda, everyone. Everyone I come in contact with I warn them. I email everyone I know and urge them to forward it and so on. The one god given duty that we were given was to protect our children. WE NEED TO DO THAT!! I am so proud of the parents who are speaking out and realizing their kid is not a pyscho. Kudos to you!! I am holding Merck responsible for this traumatic event it caused my entire family let alone my four year old son. They owe us big time, not just for the medical bills that endowed for all the tests, doctor visit, and psychiatric visits. But also for our mental anguish!! Be active and we will make progress!!!

My doctor keeps increasing my dose of lisinopril. It started at 10 mg, then 20mg and now 30 mg.The doctor wanted me to take 40mg , I refused and am thinking about slowly decreasing my dosage with my pill cutter. My blood pressure is high. But when I take it at home, it is lower by 10 to 20 points.

My daughter is ten years old and has had breathing problems since she was born, diagnosed with asthma/RAD when she was 2 or 3. She has been on several different medications since two or three including Singulair. To date she has been diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans(bone necrosis in her knee), recurrent UTI's with kidney reflux and had a deflux surgery a few years ago, cold urticaria (hives when her body temperature is rewarming and vision problems. We just recently switched her Advair discus to a regular Advair inhaler with a spacer because her voice changed and had swollen tonsils for over two months. She has had stomach pains forever which I thought was from bladder infections but they are now getting worse with vomiting. After a few years I strongly believe that it is not from her bladder infections because she always has a trace of nitrates in her urine whether she has stomach pains or not. After reading the listings on this site I am definitely looking into this further. She has always had a very hard time with her emotions and anxiety and been very frustrated in not being able to control it. She gets headaches a lot. she also gets extremely bad cold sores. I am positive that these drugs we give are children need more long term studies to learn the short and long term-side effects. It is very frustrating to me that all these people have very similar side effects and nothing is being done. I just spent last night in the emergency room with my daughter having horrible stomach pains and vomiting again. No fever, normal stools etc. I will definitely be bringing this up ar our next doctor visit and be writing the manufacturer. Good luck to everyone out there. I sure hope some studies will be done soon and that we can find an answer to our problems. God Bless You All!

I too am having many of the side effects listed on this site including chest pains, fatigue, shortness of breath, foggy head, dizziness, to name a few. I am wondering if anyone has had heartburn or an increase in heartburn while being on this drug. They have recently switched me from Toprol to the generic form, Metaprolol. More of these symptoms seem to have come on since switching to the generic. Any thoughts?

I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago for some breathing problems, I was taking meds for asthma and from a previous doctor visit. The doctor prescribed two new prescriptions for asthma and told me to continue taking the other meds as well and he also prescribed lisinopril because he said I had high blood pressure. I started taking them on October 10 and the next day I began feeling severe headaches and nausea. The minute I eat something I have to go the bathroom, my body always feels sore, my mouth is dry but I am afraid to drink water because when I feel horrible anytime I put something in my body. I feel very tired, cold sweat, I am having a hard time sleeping.. .After reading everything I agree that this is a poison and I am no longer going to take this drug. I am on the phone with the doctor right now...

update to June 14th. For everyone who has just gotten the shot and think they don't have atrophy. My daughter's didn't start to appear until a few weeks after. It just looked bruised at the begining. Doctors don't want to beleive the Kenalog has done this. Gyn doctor did ultrasound and said everything looked normal, so no reason for the bleeding other than the Kenalog. It has started to get better after 4 months. Now there is a 5-7 day break between her periods. I have refused to put her on birth control to stop the bleeding. I couldn't stand for her to suffer any more side effects. The atrophy looks awful. It is such a bright purple. Doctor said it should not get any worse, but I don't think they really know. Doctor did say it would fade in color, but will never get better without plastic surgery. I can't even find a doctor who is familiar with Kenalog or the side effects. I also just found out that the Kenalog stays in your system for 3 months. Of course another thing I was never informed of. I have been taking pictures and keeping all Doctor visit paperwork. I suggest everyone do the same. It has got to be a matter of time before a lawsuit is brought against them.

Hi

Thank you for the long email Silke
I returned from my doctor visit
My estrogen and progesterone levels were exactly what they were one year ago way before the pill can anyone explain that.
My estrogen was a 10 and progesterone was a 2 exactly what they were one year ago before all this maddness

How can that be?

I thought all these symptoms Iam having was from hormonal imbalance from the pill??

Iam so confused!
Iam typing and my arms are all anxious just came on like 30 mins ago

So if its not my hormones making me anxious what is it???
Any thoughts??

That really confused me because everyone is like you have anxiety and these symptoms because of the hormones being thrown off but my hormones are what they were a year ago??

So whats making me anxious and having this crawling under the skin of of my arms its driving me nuts right now!!!!

Hello all!
I have been off of Yasmin now 14 months. All my physical symptoms have cleared up except eye floaters and a sinus infection. I feel great physically! However, I have just been diagnosed with anxiety disorder. I stay nervous pretty much all the time, although the panic attacks have subsided. My doctor gave me Lexapro, which I have not taken yet....I'm scared of it. In fact this doctor visit increased my anxiety by quite a bit just to hear that kind of news. Have any of you actually taken this drug or others? Do I really need it or will this nervousness subside as well? Is there anything else I can do that does not require medication?
I'm praying for all of you! Be strong and hold on to your faith!

I've been taking Singulair for about a year and a half. Last summer I mentioned horrible leg and foot cramps to my pulmonary doctor who I see twice a year for asthma. They claimed that they had never heard of cramps from this drug. I tried everything from going off from my estrogen to drinking extra o.j. and eating more bananas. Nothing changed; but without the singulair I have severe burning in my upper back all the time. In November I returned for my doctor visit and was told that they had done some research on the leg and foot cramps and that it is considered a side effect. I was changed to Accolate which is not a drug my insurance company accepts. The leg cramps went away but the burning in my back was so severe from the asthma that I returned to using Singulair. I now have such awful leg and foot cramps that I spend several times a night walking my house. I've also been told that the pain and burning in my back should not be associated with the asthma and the doctor cannot explain why the singulair helps with this but it does and I'm afraid to stop. I'm very torn between the cramps and back burning.
