Thank you for posting, everyone. This is the 1st place where I found information on side effects and it has been really helpful, up to a point.
I have been experiencing what I think are side effects from the coil...I just don't know what to do- sometimes Im absolutely fine, but I have been getting PMT, and not just PRE-menstrally... Because of this and because I can't figure out what other contraceptives I can use, I am a bit in denial of my problems! Also, because when I went to the family planning, the nurse tried to talk me out of removing my coil, saying my problems were not caused by it :(

The side-effects that I think I have:

*Mood swings. Sometimes REALLY depressed, feelig worthless and fed up with life, other times very angry and aggressive. Sometimes absoultely fine. But very up and down and out of sorts.

*Acne. Very bad acne on my face and my back, besides this my skin just looks different-used to look really healthy but looks red and without its usual glow. I feel like I look really ill. Really gets me down.

*Insomnia. Ive not been that bad for getting to sleep, mostly. But at certain times of the month very restless. Mostly my dreams are just really vivid and imaginative, which is cool in a way, but not right-I used to feel like this when I was going through puberty-is that a time of heightened progesterone??

*Itchy skin. But I don't know if this is my imagination.

*Pains. I have weird pains in my legs, period pains that kind of wave down my legs and odd stabbing pains in my uterus and tubes.

I just don't know what my alternatives are. As a sexually active woman who does'nt want to have children at the moment, as I am at uni, I feel like a second class citezen. I can't use condoms. Lets face it, they are'nt so good in the longterm. I have had the copper coil and the period pains used to make me faint and atually throw up with pain, so I got this. Hormones just don't agree with me...I think its too dodgy to use the withdrawl method or work out least fertile times on the calendar.

Does anyone know when the male injection is coming out???!! Or have another solution....?

I can't believe I have found this site!!! I have been having horrendous but very petty arguments with my boyfriend just lately, to the point I do not know if we are over as he is only speaking to me in a temper voice. Obviously I believe eveything is his fault(!) and now after reading the site I am wondering if it is all actually me and down to my pill, yasmin, as everything I have read about everyones mood swings rings true! I am almost 3 months in and have been experiencing headaches for the first time in my life and I thought it was just one of those things. My breasts are nearly up a whole size and I have become really really self conscious which I have also never been like before and few of my clothes appear to fit. I have also recently visited the Dr's with dizziness which I actually put down to Jasmin although she said it couldn't possibly be the pill and put it down to a dodgy eardrum which she thinks I have - also I believe I have become increasingly deaf... could that be the pill too or am I now blaming everything that is going wrong in my life on that one tiny little tablet????
I am going to book an appointment with my Dr for tonight but am really conscious that I am going to burst into tears the moment I walk into the surgery - is this the table or because of the rows with my boyfriend? (Like the chicken and egg!)
I have been on Dianette for years and have never experienced any problems - surely it can't be that bad, can it?????

About two years ago I had nasty ulcer-type pains and aches, some elimination problems: had colonoscopy for the latter, and Doc put me on Protonix for a month - cleared up wonderfully. I have always had occasional acid reflux: that went away too.

After about a year I began to get symptoms again. Didn't want to visit same doc as I knew he would push for a second colonoscopy, which was a treat I thought I could defer for a while. What works now is Prilosec - so glad it's OTC - and I DON"T go for the 14-day course they push. If you look on the pack, it offers a 2-day option, anyway. I usually know when I'm going to have trouble (too much starchy food is one cause), and in the evening I take 2 Rolaids just for the immediate risk and a Prilosec which will kick in after about 4 hours and work for about 24. Same next night if stomach is still dodgy. Have never tried the generic Omeprazole.

Well.....I've had two good bone density tests (the proper test)...the last i had was in 2002, and showed an actual increase of density of 7.5% in one hip, and 4% somewhere else....I was THEN put on Fosamax by my dr. because I am "white, thin, hysterectomy and smoke...." and said he wanted to keep my bones healthy. Hence, I've been on this since. I'm now wondering.....I had alopecia (hair loss) 2 years ago, just patchy, it's back in fine, no recurrence. I'm seeing a chiropractor now, as I feel constantly "pretzeled" My head feels like it weighs 100lbs on a wobbly neck, my fingers are often sore, one of my knees is dodgy, ....we have no athritis, osteoporosis in my family, I cannot remember a female breaking a bone! I just don't feel great all vague feelings. I exercise every evening 20mins on a glider, I'm 105lbs, I eat a sensible diet, I do everything at 100mph, so not sedentary! I go for my Bone density the end of this month, and I have a feeling this is the end of my Fosamax!

hi all,
for all you ladies in the uk that want to report your side effects please fill out the yellow card section on the following website. i am so angry about the problems i have had since being put on yasmin that i really really wanted to do something. i know many ladies on here have listed sites for reporting the side effects but they seem only to apply in the USA. this is the uk equivelent. www.mhra.gov.uk click the yellow card tab on the right hand side or click on the online services tab on the top and follow the links there. please please please ladies do this, maybe if enough of us report the awful things we have suffered someone will listen instead of just fobbing us of with a dodgy diagnosis! it may also stop other women having to live the nightmare we have had to.it only takes a few minutes and could potentially prevent this happening to other women or at least make our gp's aware of the possible mental, psychological and physical side effects instead of just sending us off with a prescription for anti depressants.

hope you are all hanging in there...... sophie,silke,murph70..how are you all doing?

Xanax is much maligned but was my saviour after having a total personality change with the onset of undiagnosed fibromyalgia. I held out for 18 months. I have taken Xanax for 8 1/2 years now and suffer no bad side effects except I'm sure it has helped me gain 30kg!(depressing in itself). Doctors don't seem concerned that I have taken it for so long. In fact a few have said I will probably be on it for life (a scary thougt for someone who hates having to rely on drugs but has to have a life). I have had a couple of dodgy liver function tests and have to have another one. This, I wonder, could be a side effect of long term use of Xanax? Is this harmful? Any comments welcome.
