I am not liking this pill at all. I had an IUD and decided not to go back to it after the birth of my 3rd and final child. I wanted to have a tubal ligation, but my son came early and it was not "preauthorized" through the insurance, so we did not do it immediately post-partum. Then with three kids, finding the time to do and recoup from the procedure- was impossible!
So this is the pill the OB/GYN put me on. The mood swings are HORRIBLE and the "spotting"... Hello---- spotting. Okay, I have a period 30 days a month. It is awful. I keep thinking it will get better, but my son will be 9 months old on the 17th. I don't think it is getting better. I am researching my options currently and hope to call and schedule a dr. appt. by the end of the week so I can get some relief!

I just posted yesterday about my side effects and making a dr. appt., well I went in today to have it removed and they said it had gone up into my uterus and I now have to have surgery and be cut open because of it, I also may not be able to have any more children. This mirena has been a nightmare. The dr. I saw today, which wasn't the dr. that put it in, said he wont even put it in because of the side effects, which makes me mad because a dr. that works in the same practice there told me it was great and insisted it would not have any side effects and that there had never been any side effects. I am sooo stressed out about this, but want to thank you guys for your information, If I had not have found this sight and read this then I would still be getting bloodwork done trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with me!

I have had it in for about 4 months-
It was very painful at the time of the insertion but within a couple of hours I was fine. But over the past months, I have noticed some changes , my hair seems to be thinning, it seems to be greasy all of the time, I have joint pain in my wrist. I just went to my primary doctor who is running all kinds of blood work and testing my Thyroid-But I am seriously thinking it can all be from The IUD.
I have my 3 month IUD check up ( i had to reschedule the initial checkup)on Tuesday and then my doctor appt on wed( where I will get the results from my Bloodwork)

i have had mirana since july28 2004. i never had any problem with it i though it was a god'sent UNTIL NOW!! over the last 2 years i have had irregular bleeding, odd pain among other things. the bleeding started normal and but now it is very very dark clots and pain OMG it feels like i am being stabbed all the time. i have been to the doctors over and over and over .. they say it is not a side effect it is all in my head. well let me tell you i am a nurse and i know my body like you all do and something is wrong. i am due for it 2b changed and i want it out. i am so afraid of PID or sepsis. i have weird chalky discharge sometimes. and i have been tested for anything and everything under the sun STD wise so i know the pain and all the problems are from this. i have no energy and i am "sad" most of the time. i do not handle stress the way i used to .. my husband says i have changed. not for the bad per say just different. we have 2 children and thought this would be perfect but we were so wrong. good luck to you all... i know lots of women who have it and are fine. but the ones with a problem with it oh man do we ever have a problem...

I am so thankful to have found this information!!!!! We have an appt tomorrow afternoon because of my 3 1/2 yr old daughters chronic leg pain. It hasn't fit the growing pains symptoms and I have to give her Tylenol or ibuprofen every day - she is inconsolable with pain at times. (She has been on Singulair for 2 years!!!) After reading these situations, I checked singulair's side effects which include 2 other symptoms that my daughter has all the time without explanation - nose bleeds and stomach pain!!! I am taking all this to the doctor appt tomorrow. We missed a nightly dose of Singulair once before and she had to start breathing treatments the next day, every 2 hrs for a few days until we got her breathing under control again. I am anxious as to what our alternatives are and what they're side effects may be....
Thank y'all for sharing your experiences !!!!

I just scheduled a doctor appt. this morning with my family Dr. to explain my symptoms of head pain, numbness in my right side of body, fatigue, depression...then I came across all these posts! I will be removing IT ASAP!!!! I am shocked that all of these doctor's are still suggesting Mirena as the way to go!

Please let me know if a class-action lawsuit is ever filed against this Pharm Co because I will file a suit to get this dangerous drug off the market. Yasmin/Yaz almost took my life in January 08. My OB/GYN put me on Yaz in Oct 07 for bad periods and cysts on my overies. Within a month my entire personality changed and I started losing my hair. I experienced a complete loss of sex drive, became depressed and was either constanting crying or raging at someone. However, my adult acne did clear up. On 1/27/08 I experienced extreme pain in my calf that moved up to my thigh within 48 hrs. I went to the ER and was told that no only did I a condition called DVT (Deep Vein Thrombisis-blood clot) in my leg but that the clot had broken off and moved into both of my lungs and I had bi-lateral pulmonary embolism. I can't even describe how incredibly painful this was. I was admitted into the hospital for 1 week and was put on powerful blood thinners, which I will be on for about a year. It's now been nearly 6 months since I was diagnosed and the DVT and it is still in my uppper thigh. But am grateful to be alive. If you would like to contact me I would be glad to answer any questions regarding this situation and my email addy is ****** PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YAZ OR YASMIN OR LET ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY TAKE THIS MED, IT COULD KILL YOU.

I am a 54 year old, very active female. Had a UTI and was given 750 Levaquin. I have taken 10 days worth and began having a sore swollen ankle, followed by right knee pain, followed by shoulder and arm pain. I have never experienced muscle pain to this degree before. I am scheduled for a doctor appt in 3 days. I started trying to imagine what could be causing this. I took a shot and looked up Levaqin side effects this morning, after another night of no sleep and severe shoulder pain. Well guess what, from everything I just read I think I found the source. The problem now is how do I get my life back???? The one thing I am sure of is it's time to stop taking the poison!!!

I started taking Levequin before a procedure I was getting (cystoscopy) and was told to take ot for 3 days, 500 mg. The first day i took it I had severe insomnia/heart racing/shortness of breath but I attributed this to nerves due to the proecdure I was getting , the night of the procedure I slept fine but I was also doped up on anesethia. Yesterday was my last night of Levaquin and I once again was up all night. Not only that but I have severe anxiety, feelings of hoplelessness, dread and just worry all day long. I don't knwo what to do. I am 31 years old and 2 weeks ago was feeling fine. I actually took some xanax last night for the anxiety and it really did nothing although it usually does help when I have minor anxiety. I really do not know what to do. I have to go to work every day feeling depressed, achy and lethargic. I just made another dr appt. 3rd dr in 4 days. I have lunesta at home but it rarely works for me. Any suggestions to help me sleep and get rid of the jitters??

I to have a huge dent in my right butt cheek. I would be interested in a class action suit. This is ridiculous! It has been about three months since I received the shot. Has anyone noticed their dents getting better with time?

I am 26 yrs old and I have been on Nuvaring for about 3-3 1/2 years. I thought this was the greatest thing not having to remember the pill and the short light periods. I have always sworn by this BC! I have been having side effects I never thought came from the ring until now. I have read a lot of the side effects others are having and I think my lack of sexual desire for the past 1 1/2 yrs. MAY be due to Nuvaring and not my getting married 2 yrs. ago. (lol) I also have headaches often, not bad ones but enough to carry Tylenol in my purse. And another is dryness before intercourse, that I never had a problem with 2 yrs. ago. I never put two and two together until I racked my brain and wondered why I struggled so badly with my lack of sexual desire. I could care less if I have sex or not! That just wasn't me 2 yrs ago! I just couldn't figure out what had changed, going back on any medicines I had taken the past 2 yrs., the Nuvaring is the only thing that was constant. I have a Dr. Appt today and I am going to discontinue use of the ring and see if the side effects subside like they have for some others. I will post again when I have an update. Please let me know if anyone else is having the side effects more than a year after using the Nuvaring!! Thanks!
UPDATE 11/8/07
I took my Nuvaring out for good on Sept 29. Started on Wed Oct 3rd. And with the advise of my OB/GYN this would be my last period with the Nuvaring. We decided to go hormone free for a while. I no longer have the dryness I did before while on the ring and my sex drive is coming back around, I actually enjoy sex again. Daily head aches are a thing of the past. Things seem to be much better now off the Nuvaring. I started this time just a few days late with a fill blown period. Not the little light "Nuvaring Period" that I had for over 3 yrs. Welcome to life without hormones! Any side effects going off the Nuvaring?? I have had is a few days of my nipples being sensitive, that went away. I am looking forward to seeing what this next month brings without all of the bad side effects. When I decide to use birth control again, I guess I will choose to choke down the pill again. Until then....I'm FREE!

I have been taking Lisinopril for several years. I am 52 years old. I have had terrible scratchiness and coughing at night. As soon as I lay down it starts. I am sweating terribly for no reason. I worked with a personal trainer all last year but could not lose any weight. I have gained weighed and very large waist. After reading this column I feel that all of these side effects are coming from taking this pill. I am also taking Zocor so that is what I am looking up next. Have a dr. appt. this week and I am getting off all of this..... I am so excited to think that there is a reason why I couldn't lose any weight and only gain. My stomach also looks bloated quite a bit. Does the sweating relate to anyone else out there? I didn't hear too much on that from other writers. Please let me know!

I've been taking 50 mg. daily (and conscientiously) for several years. I've been taking thyroid supplements (synthroid and similar) for 35+ years. For 15 years, I've been struggling with the gradual weight gain commonly associated with menopause and stopping smoking cigarettes (after 30 years of 1+ packs daily). HOWEVER, It was about six years ago that the problem became a 50 lb. overweight and BMI in the waist-over-35" serious problem. I was always strong, quick to build muscle, and enjoyed being active. Swam .5 mi daily or walked 3 miles (or both) frequently until about menopause time. But then: about four years ago, I started having some pretty serious trouble breathing associated with exertion. Body aches and pains that I've described as arthritic, may also be involved here! Hence decreasing exercise and real worry about engaging in exercise. I've also been taking Lipitor and Avandia.
Frankly, I'm feeling that all my meds except Synthroid can cause me to gain weight - the catch 22 being that my elevated blood pressure and early type-2 diabetes are also negatively affected by overweight!! Now what???? Dr. appt, very soon, folks!

ITCHING !!! OH MY !!! My husband went thru a severe bout with itching EVERYWHERE ! His sister was also on a related drug to Lisinopril and she was having itching problems too.
As for floaters and cobwebs and cloudy vision... I have ALL of those symptoms. I can't see at all to drive at twilight or when rain is on the windshield. I had a Dr appt this past Monday and had to cancel it because it was raining and I had no other way to get to the Dr.
I've been off the meds now for about 6 weeks and my strength is returning, my hair is shiny and feels like it has body again and I'm waiting patiently for my sight to get better. The acid reflux problem has improved too.
My girlfriend keeps telling me to see an eye doctor but I just saw one a bit over a year ago. I thought the new glasses were part of the problem as they are transition lenses and now I know it's just because my glasses are of the proper strength it's the Lisinopril that has messed me up.
God Bless,
Becca

My 5 year old daughter was on Singulair for 15 days, we just got back from the Dr. I told him that it worked great for her asthma, but the side effects were killing us. She became very irritable, and aggressive towards her friends and 3 year old brother. I did not think it was the medicine at first, but after a few days, my husband and I thought it was medicine. My MIL is a pharmacist and she even picked up on the irritability and aggression. The Dr. said he never heard of anyone complaining about side affects like this.He was very nice and quickly agreed that this was not the medicine for her. My daughter was also beginning to stammer while talking, "uh, uh, uh", before she could get anything out. My mother in law (MIL) send me this site this morning before the Dr. appt. and I sat here and cried, thinking that I continued to give my child this medicine,(even after my husband suggested that we stop). It did work great for her asthma, but we wanted our loving little girl back.

HELP!! I have been on Yasmin for a year and 3 months now I take it continuously (no period). Prior to that I was on DepoProvera for 5 years and had no period and loved it, but it causes osteoporosis so I had to switch. I have would have some light spotting once in awhile but now I have been spotting for 3 weeks and have cramps in my lower back. Working out or running only makes it heavier. I have also had anxiety.Dr. said I might need to switch to a pill with more estrogen. but Depo is Progesterone only and I had no problems while on it. I have tried to research but have not found a pill with Progesterone higher than Yasmin and I have also seen conflicting reports on the effects of Estrogen and Progesterone on Anxiety. and have read that Progesterone is what stopps bleeding.Need to make a decision on a new pill asap Dr appt is TOMORROW! Any one have any names I can suggest to the Dr.?

Wow, I am so glad to find this site. I have been taking Levothyroxine for probably 3-4 months. At first, I felt great. Now, I have numbness and tinging in my left arm and what I believe to be carpal tunnel (developed in just the past week). I feel depressed, can't stop crying, and I ache like I'm 90 years old - I'm just 25! I have been so scared. I have a Dr. appt. later this week, now I am thinking I need to go off this med. I only have slight hypo, so it's not worth it to be on this stuff! I'm so glad it's not just me.

I have been on Norethindrone for 9 weeks and just a couple weeks into starting these BCPs I noticed frequent and severe headaches. I very rarely got headaches before, but I didn't think anything of it. It's been 7 weeks since then and I've noticed and realized a lot of symptoms, but couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I just had a baby 4 months ago so I thought maybe these symptoms were related to hormonal changes. My BIGGEST concern is my hair loss! I have hand-fulls of hair, lost, after every hair washing. The rug on my bathroom floor is saturated with hair, not that I have brushed out, but what has fallen out after drying my hair with a towel. I have read you can temporarily lose your hair after giving birth up to about 6 months, so again, I thought my problems were due to hormonal changes. The following are additional syptoms I've experienced: haven't started my period, cramping/sore uterus, bumps/uneven skin on my face, sudden, severe, and frequent headaches, dizziness/feeling dismantled, large amounts of discharge, and hair LOSS. As a matter of fact, I have a Dr. appt tomorrow to address these concerns.

Murdered by Levaquin.
-- By holeinmyheart | Reply | (3) replies | Private Message meThis may be hard so bear with me. I need to give you a little background to show what an injustice (criminal you be the judge) happened to my soulmate. Her lifelong dream was a humble little spot in the wilderness and at 58 and on a disability we were able to make that happen; and she was happier than I'd seen her in years. Existing conditions included depression, anxiety, fibromyalga and chronic fatigue, and a thyroid condition that she got from over radiation for Graves disease many yrs. ago. Oct. 07 she came down with pnemonia and made a trip to ER. the Dr. saw something he didn't like so prescribed Levaquin. She left there sure she had lung cancer. Three days into a 10 day course her lower extremities became extremely painful and swollen, a call to her GP was never returned. We thought she was experiencing some effects of pneumonia or cancer. 2-3 wks. later a dr. appt. where she was in such bad shape she had to wear my shoes and be carried from car to wheelchair she could barely walk. An alternate dr. saw her. got xrays prescribed more levaquin and prescribed water pills for her swollen lower extremities. 2-3 weeks later side effects much worse has now traveled up to her midsection (peripheral neuropathy) she is now wheelchair bond going to dr. office and guess what lung hasn't cleared up yet so more levaquin with no solution or idea what is happening to her body ( she was terrified and in horrific pain. So she was prescribed 3 courses of levaquin and ignored the blatant side effects. The next several months at home were hell, the neuropathy continued up her body, she could no longer feed herself or hold anything in her hands. Every day the pain and frustration were unbearable and she cried for hours at a time. I couldn't get her to go to hospital as by now we knew what we were dealing with PN and it is irreversible and she knew she was dying and if she left she'd never see her dream home again. We finally got her to the hospital, they wouldn't accept my Achumes Razor and suggested numerous things conducted numerous tests including a Gallum scan and still no answers. She deteriated fast. She was within a week about 63 pounds and suffering severe sycosis with hallucinations. She experienced depersonalization. She had severe pain to the touch. I now know she is going to die and I'd promised her I'd never let her die in an institution but we could get no home care. They now wanted to kick her out of hospital after 3 months and suggested a hospice and although terminal she was undiagnosed so did not qualify. I have seen both parents a brother and numerous people die from a variety of ailments but this was truly a horror show esp. the psycosis and pain she was in. It scarred my heart and soul forever. No insurance so I am fighting to keep our dream home and keep her memory alive, made it a year but the future is uncertain. She died July 5 07, 2 days after she died the FDA put out a black box warning label so how come every time i insisted it was that poison they would not take me seriously. I now know what drives people over the edge to retaliate in some way. In Canada I don't think there is any class action happening, but in everybody that knew about it it would appear like gross negligence at least giving it to her 3 times after showing adverse reactions after first course. She was stolen away form me and her daughter just as she had reached peace and serenity. It breaks my heart continually and I don't know what to do with this rage I feel. It is now 13 months and no autopsy, apparently a hold up at pathology. Feel free to comment I really can't believe she's gone I haven't disposed of anything or even changed the house in any way.
M.
