I have been on Yasmin for 2 years now. It is the only BC I have ever been on and have LOVED it up until about 3 months ago. All of a sudden I started having heart palpitations, sever chest pains, extreme fatigue, very bloated in my stomach, low sex drive, pain and tingling in my arms and legs, dizziness, shortness of breath, trouble swallowing, weight gain and major mood swings! I went to the DR and they did an EKG (which was normal) Tested my blood (I now have a thyroid problem that I have never had before) and they did an ultrasound (Dr that I may have a murmur) on my heart and the results came back fine. So the DR prescribed me Synthroid for the thyroid problem and the DR said that should help me gain my energy back, loose some weight and would take care of the heart palpitations. The other symptoms he contributed to Stress (Panic Attacks) I have been on Synthroid for 5 weeks now and I don't feel any better in fact I feel worse!
This morning I seen a commercial for a lawsuit against Yaz or Yasmin. Well since I am non Yasmin I immediately did a search and came across this site. I have literally been sitting here all night reading all the comments from different women and now know what my problem is. My problem is YASMIN! I am not taking this anymore and have an appt with my Dr tomorrow to have them do whatever they need to do to see if I have any blockage or any other damage from using this pill. My chest pains and the tightness in my chest are so severe that it takes my breath away and I am only 24! I am not ready for children and don't want to deal with bad periods like I had before getting on the pill but I can not take this rise. PLEASE if you are on Yasmin please stop taking it immediately and call your doctor Your life could depend on it!! I am hoping like other people who have commented that after a few weeks of being off the pill that I will feel so much better. I hope I am getting off of it in time before I have done any further damage.

Wow - I can't believe I didn't stumble across this website when I was researching Mirena. I got mine in April 09 and have had a lot of random things going on that I never put it all together that it could be the Mirena. Today, I took TWO pregnancy tests - tender breasts, swollen vag, face breaking out, achy stomach and back, specific stomach weight gain - it HAD to be pregnancy!
My girlfriend told me she was going insane w/ the same thoughts until she started reading stories of other peoples issues. Now, I'm reading all of your stories and just shaking in disbelief...
Weight gain - check.
Sore back/lower abs - check.
Slight odor - check
Terrible PMS symptoms but NO period - check
Zero sex drive - check.
Hair loss - check.
Wild mood swings - check.
The list goes on and on, it's madness! Since day one it has felt "weird" when I go to the bathroom, I just chalked it up to me thinking too much about it being in there.
I'm 32 with one young child and would prefer not to have another. I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow to discuss my options. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences.

I've been on doxy for about 10 days. I've never had problems with "photosensitivty" when it had been listed as a side effect on other medications. Totally disregarded the warning. I was put on it for some problems that might arise with acne due to a hormonal injection. I was going to the Florida keys in a few days and thought I should go to a tanning bed to get a little color so I wouldn't burn down in the Keys. Within a couple of days my hands began to tingle, burn with warm water, freeze with cool water. It was like my skin was burnt off and my nerve endings were exposed to the elements. While in Florida with my feet and hands in bandages to keep the heat/sun from causing pain I noticed blistering and still have them. I thought I had shingles, even though I had it on both sides of my body! Had an increased heart rate and 2t pitting edema in my feet and calves when flying home and increased itching on feet and hands. Very nervous at this point! I massaged my calves to increase the flow back towards my heart and it seemed to help. I am also experiencing GiI problems as well, severe heartburn and bloating. My son said I looked like I was pregnant! I can't wait to talk to my Dr. tomorrow and will stop taking this medicine. Thanks to all of you for your information. I'm relieved to find out what is causing all of this. I only hope my symptoms will go away sooner than later!

59 year old female. A history of hypertension started on Lisinopril in April of 2009..I am so GLAD I found this site! I have developed a severe chronic cough. This cough keeps me up at night ( and everyone else in the home)
Severe soreness in every joint in every part of my body. I can not sleep, serious fatigue, I have had mental confusion, short term memory loss I NEVER had the mental confusion or memory loss. I went to my Dr. 2xs he put me on antibiotics, told me I possibly had aspirated mucous in my lungs or had "silent reflux" no matter what I have taked or done none of the above symptoms lessened. Therefore, I started to do my own research and wound up here on this site. I am going to my doctor tomorrow informing him of the side effects ( which I would have thought he knew) and asked to be put on another medication for my hypertension. My question I have that there does not seem to be a easy answer is how long will it take to reverse all these symptoms? Truthfully I put all these symptoms in to the "just getting older" category. Thank You so much for sharing

I'm so glad I found this site. I was prescribed doxy for a rash I got in the Dominican that they thought lead to some sort of infection. The first couple days were fine but one night I took the medication before bed and was up all night with the worst chest pains. I have been nervous ever since that when ever I take the pills I'm going to get the same reaction. I have had chest pains the past couple days and I've been really careful with what I take them with and have been making sure I drink at least two bottles of water with each pill. But today I feel so weak. The last week on the medication I've been so tired I want to take naps when I get home from work which is unusual for me. Today my head feels heavy and my leg feels like it's about to twitch but it doesn't. I've felt some tingling in my left leg and my left arm. I thought this was from whatever infection I had since the rash was on my left ankle, but I think it's from the doxy instead. I've also been feeling a dull pain in my thigh every once in a while. I normally have some anxiety but a couple days after I started the doxy I put myself into a panic and spent the entire day at work researching tropical diseases on the internet because I thought I had one from the rash. I've also had some shortness of breath. I have asthma but it feels nothing like that. Also the doxy made my birth control stop working and I started my period. I thought I just had bad cramps but I'm starting to think they were more stomach aches from the doxy. I've had diarrhea also. And I feel so light headed that I'm going to pass out but I don't. I'm definitely calling my doctor today to get a different antibiotic. Thanks everyone for your posts!

I had my Mirena put in on 12/23/08. That was just a little over one month ago. Thus far, I have had almost constant bleeding, or spotting, almost every day since I got it put in. That is expected, so I've been told, so I'm not too concerned. However, last week, my first real "period" started. Since then, I've had headaches, have been crabby and completely fatigued. I could sleep forever. I'm not sure if these problems are going to subside. Most of the postings on here have had the Mirena for over a year. Can anyone recommend how long I should give this thing a chance before getting it removed? There is no way I can live life this crabby and tired.

I am wondering if the plantar foot pain that my husband is suffering for 6 months could be from lipitor that he is taking for several years now. Has anyone have this problem?

I have had the mirena 13 months. After reading all these postings I have decided Im calling the doctor tomorrow and having this ridiculous thing removed. I have ALL of the symptoms everyone has wrote about: headaches, horrible back pain, weight gain of 15 pounds, decrease sex drive, severely depressed, terrible mood swings, constantly tired, hot all the time - sweating, unexplained joint problems, heavier periods now then before mirena, and nausea, sick feeling every night. Thanks for confirming that Im not going crazy and that I can be me again!

In theory, this sounds like an excellent choice for birth control; no pill to take every day, no carrying it around in your purse, etc.. I started NR two weeks ago and have literally turned into a monster in front of everyone's' eyes. Not only did I have an AWFUL headache for the first few days but I've also gained weight, have had HORRIBLE cramping and have had a strange spotting for a little over a week now. I took the ring out tonight and plan to go back to on the patch right away as these side effects aren't worth it.

Anyone experience vaginal swelling??? I'm kind of freaked out. I got it placed 2 weeks ago and was supposed to start my period a few days later, I did and have been bleeding for 10 days now. I normally have 4 day ong periods. I have had some pain in my left side really low but then about 4 days ago I noticed it was hard to place a tampon and felt like things were swollen in there. I looked in a mirror and had my hubby check too. It looks like the side of my vagina has collapsed and is laying across the opening of my vagina! When I push (like giving birth, but not as hard) it kind of pushes out. My hubby said it looks like guts coming out instead of a baby head (we have 3 kids, so we are familiar with that sight). Has anyone else had this side effect??? My midwives can't get me in till Monday but I am worried NOW!! She told me I could find the strings and remove it myself BUT with all the swelling I don't know that I could find the strings or that it would even be safe to pull out like that! HELP!!!!!

My son was given this medication for MRSA staph infection, in addition to Rifampin 300mg, and other medication he has had before. This is his 4th outbreak so they were trying to get aggressive with this treatment.
Yesterday, Day 4 (although he hadn't been taking his medication faithfully as he should have been) he developed a rash on the side of his tummy. Then today, it started spreading sporadically on his back, his knees are red & swollen, and his hands feel swollen to him as well. Since both these medications are new to us, and it's a Sunday, I'm having him stop both the SULFAM / TRIMETH, and the Rifmpkin until I can speak with a doctor tomorrow.
Looks like other people have had similar, and worse side effects such as his.

I had my Mirena put in 2 days ago and I had such severe cramping I almost went to the ER. I feel sick to my stomach and and have shaking hands. I had sex 1 day after having it put in and surprisingly it made my cramps go away, however after a few hours they are back and worse. I found this blog and am seriously considering having it removed already. Does anyone else think I should have it removed?

ok so ive been on loestrin for about 6 months....it was fine until last month when i got my period for an entire week 3 weeks early. then i missed my period when i should have really had it, then spotted for a quick second at the beginning of the week and then another hot second at the end of that week i have been having cramps since i should have originally had my period in the beginning of july. i have symptoms like i did when i was pregnant with my son. Cramping, heartburn, feeling like ur gonna get your period everyday. this made me nervous so i took a test it said no. but still this is so odd because my doctor probably just like all of your doctors said that you should get your period very light for about 3 days...uhh what the hell is going on ..oh yeah and im moody getting sad a lot but i don't know if that has to do with other things in my life.. i am going to the dr tomorrow to try to get this worked out..i cant keep changing birth control!!!!!!!!

I have just started my third week on Loestrin24 and let me tell you, it has not been an easy 3 weeks. I have been on BC for what will be 9 months. The first two didn't work for me but this pill has already caused me problems. As im typing this i have bad stomach pains. I have had horrible mood swings. My poor boyfriend has dealt with so much. I took the pill one night and woke up a different person almost. I've thrown up, spotting, nausea, indifferent moods, etc.
I've read everyones comments on this pill and I've gotta say, im nervous. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and hopefully get off of this thing. Condoms and a period are much better then these side effects.
For anyone thinking of starting this pill, as you can see from all the comments..i haven't found one positive one..the side effects occur in a matter of days...

I am a 40 year old female and both my husband and I are taking Lisinopril 40 mg. I have mild tingling in my arms at night, however the tingling/ burning sensation is so great in my husband's arms that he can't sleep at night. His rest is continually interrupted by this uncomfortable sensation. I have noticed a host of things like tiredness, an occasional dry cough, feelings of depression, rapid heart beat, and lack of energy in myself. My husband has experienced all of the above and muscle pain and irritability. I thought his irritability was being caused by lack of sleep, but I have learned from this website that it may be yet another side effect of the medication. We both have to get off this. Thanks for all of your helpful comments.

I am sitting here in absolute shock. I cannot believe all that i have heard from the wonderful people posting on here.
My son has been talking singular for 2 yrs now. I did take him off in the summer months. He was given this medicine for allergies and bronchial problems he seem to have in the winter. He is 5 and was also diagnosed with epilepsy. He has "absent seizures" and has had a difficult time finding a good combo of meds to treat the seizures. Last summer he seemed to be very good, had no seizures for months and i thought that Sick Kids had found a fix. When winter came around I put him back on singular. I am guessing about a month after i was back on the phone with the doctors telling them that again this epilepsy meds were causing sleeping and anxiety problems. HE has been on 3 diff meds since and still having sleeping, pains, headaches and contently scared of everything. We signed him up for skating lessons, and had to cancel do to the music would cause him to have an all out panic attack. TV commercials that have any type of Bass cause him to walk backwards around the TV so he will not see it. I have been blaming the epilepsy meds all along. I am sooo frustrated, if this is the cause of all our problems i will be so hurt and angry. This medication that we were told is a simple product that a lot of people are on has seemed to be a worse nightmare. I will calling my doctor tomorrow and discussing this.

I had miren inserted in August 2007....It was easy with no pain. I wasn't gaining weight..I had a flat stomach. I've noticed the entire time that it is painfull, or very sensitive to be on top during sex..I can't do it most of the time because of the pain. If my husband goes to deep or hard, normal sex, nothing crazy..it hurts in my adoman like never before. I've noticed I get the gas, painful cramps that travel through my thighs like I'm having contractions for real. I never know when my period will come, if at all. My abdomen swells like never before whenever it's around some time for a period. I am starting to have acne...I never blamed it on Mirena until I read this. I found this site because I had sex with my husband......afterwards I was having severe abdominal pain and pressure in my bottom as well. My butt was hurting and full of pressure..does anyone have that??? I got scared so I was looking up stuff on the internet. It hurts when I cough and there was just pain and pressure all over. It was hard for me to pee. I have noticed these symptoms before, but they seem to be getting worse or more noticeable like it's a problem. Sorry to get so graphic, but I would like to see if anyone else had or has the same problems. I used to really enjoy being on top and going deep and having my husband deep and having hard sex sometimes. Since I've had the IUD it is not pleasant and I can't do it, it hurts too much. I have always had a flat stomach and now mine is like swollen...I get the gas and I hate it. I switched to Mirena because I was having terrible mood swings on the pill and know I'm thinking I'll take the mood swings. I think I will have the IUD removed....I'm scared my husband will poke it into my stomach during sex. Whenever I have a flare up of pain it usually goes away. This time it took an hour for the pain to go away. That was the worst pain I've had yet that's why I'm on the computer making sure I don't have internal bleeding or something. Scarey.

Thank goodness I typed in "Dry cough "and "gag." I found this site and now I know WHY I can't seem to get over this "cold."
I've been on lisinopril for about 3.5 weeks and I was beginning to think I had suddenly developed allergies. I get this terrible tickle and I try to fight it, because I know once I start coughing, it will take a while to settle down again. My eyes water, my head throbs, and I reach a point of nearly gagging. In addition, I get to deal with the added pleasures of menopausal stress incontinence. I'm MISERABLE!
I've been needing to schedule an MRA for another non-related issue, and I have been putting it off due to concerns about being in the MRI machine and not being able to catch my breath.
Thanks to all of your input here, I'm calling my doctor tomorrow. Enough is enough!

I have had migraines for several years now and just recently found out that the med I was taking at each episode was really for those that have migraines a couple of times a year - I have them a couple of times a month. I was prescribed 50mg of Topamax, two times a day. I took both doses on a Thursday and could not go to work on Friday. By Thursday night I was lightheaded...by Friday morning I couldn't keep my eyes open, my brain couldn't seem to tell my fingers how to type, I couldn't come up with what I wanted to say, I tried to read in bed and couldn't even concentrate on what the book was saying. Normal events (taking my 2yo to the restroom, walking into a restaurant) were exhausting. I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow to discuss all that occurred. After reading all the side effects online, I would honestly rather deal with the migraines. At least I know they will go away. With the Topamax I felt completely out of control of my body...never a good feeling.

My 20 yr. old daughter was on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost a year with seemingly few side effects (except larger breasts). When her Rx ran out, the doc would not prescribe more until she had an exam. She ended up going off the pill for a couple of months, which was okay because there was no boyfriend or sexual contact during that time. She then got a prescription refill and went back on it. Within about 3 weeks she started experiencing random panic attacks including, headaches, nausea, rapid heart beat, sweaty hands and dizziness. At first she wrote it off as stress, but now they are happening ALL the time and are interfering with her life. She is a college student and is becoming paralyzed by the anxiety and the fear of a panic attack. She can't go to class, can't drive and is worried all the time. This is soooo unlike my happy-go-lucky daughter. She feels like she is going crazy. I talked to the GYN and she thought that the pill could definitely be enhancing these symptoms, but didn't feel they were the main cause. I now have a completely different opinion from her since reading all the posts on here describing the exact same symptoms while on this pill. My daughter has now stopped taking them (it's been about a week) and the doctor said it could take a couple of cycles for the drug to be completely out of her system. I'm praying that these symptoms go away after the hormones are flushed out....anyone have any experience with the anxiety going away after going off the pill??????

For anyone having digestion problems while taking lisinopril....please read this!
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/446546_3
I am hoping this is what my problem is, as I'm to the point of not being able to eat anything, even bland food, without being in horrible pain. Cat scans and upper scope ran and all came back normal, regular blood tests are normal...but the pain I have after eating is not NORMAL! I go back to my regular dr. tomorrow and will let you know if he takes me off the lisinopril. My stomach problems started after starting 40 mg of lisinopril in June of 06. I will try to keep you posted on if it is the medication causing my problems.
I also have the anxiety, red rash on my neck, shortness of breath, lethargy, lack of concentration, etc. etc. It's scary to think medications can cause more problems than the actual health problem they are treating you for!

I am a 51 year old woman and I have been on Lisinopril for about 12 months. At first it was 20mg, then increased to 40mg per day. I started having shortness of breath and decided to cut back to the 20mg after a month or so. I am a nurse so I often adjust meds that I am on. I found this board about two months ago. I am so glad I did! I have BP of about 126/82 on meds. I have just stopped the 20mg two days ago, after developing more chest pain. I have lost all the weight that I needed to and eat a low salt diet now. I already feel better today. Chest pain is almost gone. I see my DR. tomorrow about all of this. I am going to try to stay off all HTN meds if I can! I had so many side effects that I never realized were being caused by this horrible drug. Some of them included: chest pain, shortness of breath, rib pain, extreme hair loss, tingling in all extremities, joint pain, muscle pain, headache, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, difficulty thinking and comprehension, memory loss. I just wanted to let others know that I also know this drug is very dangerous. I am hopeful that I will continue to feel better as the weeks go by.
