I started on Lisinopril/hctz 10/12.5 mg ten days ago and within four days I had a severe hearing loss in my left ear. I thought it was plugged with wax, but when examined they found nothing. After being referred to a ENT specialist they found nerve damage to the ear and are unsure if I will regain my hearing or not. They are trying to treat the hearing loss with steroids but are unsure if it is reversible. Both the ENT and the internist did not think there was a connection with the Lisinopril. I think there is. I am a healthy 47 year old who has never had a health issuer before ten days ago.

I would love to hear from anyone else with this problem. We need a definitive link to this drug for hearing loss.

Good grief I just left the Doctor to get my annual pap.. I was curious about
the Mirena.. She said it was great da da da da.. I get the baby in bed and
get on here first thing oh my god is this really all true?
Now, I have a question isn't a lot of these side affects similar to the birth control pill? And with me being a smoker other than surgery what either options do other women have.. I do have really bad periods,I have to change every hour for seven days. And I did miss carry twice before my two children for lack of progesterone. So do you think this might be Okay for me?
Since my lat baby 14 months ago I have had symptoms of acne, weight gain, hair loss so maybe this will reverse it for me? what do you think?
Help from a woman who would like to have sex without wondering if I'm going to get pregnant I am 32 I think I'm way to old to have another baby..

This is a great site for learning more on this subject where we can get the real facts from real experiences.( Vs. the deception from drug companies who are in the business for profit.)

Lipitor is pure poison, and Dr.'s hand it out like candy. All cholesterol reducing drugs that contain statins can trigger dangerous side effects. Not many of us are informed about the real danger of statins when we are handed the perscription. Inappropriate prescribing of medications will continue to be one of the leading causes of death. And we, the patients,do not always receive enough info. from our Dr.'s about the dangers and side effects from prescription drugs.

I'm 48 yrs. young. Female, small build, (was) healthy and active, happy, and an empty nester! My husband and I had moved to another province and hence had to find a new Dr.

I was prescribed lipitor 10 mg. daily after a routine check up by my Dr. because my cholesterol was a little high.

I started taking it in the winter 2005. I stopped taking it in mid June 2007... My side effects were progressive , drug induced, and it escalated to near disabling.

I knew something was terribly wrong. Was it A.L.S., M.S., West Nile, Lupis, Alzhiemers Disease, or a new designer disease? I did not suspect that the drug lipitor was the cause until much later.

At first, my Dr. said it was menopause. I should mention; since I've quit taking the drug 3 months ago, I have no symptoms of menopause !
At least my Dr. has acknowledged and diagnosed the cause of these profound symptoms." Myopathy as a result of statins."

Signs & symptoms I experienced are as follows;

Severe stomach pain.
Muscle pain, aching , weakness, stiffness, tenderness esp.to the lower extremities. Eventually, I could only shuffle to walk.
Pain in the palms of hands.
Stiff neck, shoulders, arms and lower back.
Trouble getting up from a seated position, and climbing stairs.
Extreme fatigue.
Hot and cold sweats
Night sweats
Fevers. High and low grade fevers.
Ringing in the ears.
Difficulty swallowing, and fear of choking.
Pain in the esophagus.
Memory loss, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness.
NO appetite, yet a lot of weight gained around the abdomen area.Bloated.
NO taste buds.
Speech affected, slurring words and mispronouncing. Tongue felt swollen.
Trouble breathing at night, would wake up coughing ( and I was not smoking then).
Trouble sleeping.
Loss of balance and coordination.
Blurred vision esp. in the morning.
Sharp shooting pains in the Rt. thigh.

Most of the symptoms have now subsided. I still have some foot pain and leg cramps and muscle stiffness... and poor concentration. Putting this together has been done with great difficulty, as I seem to pause a great deal and forget what I was trying to say. The recovery process is slow but at least it's progress. My Dr. has not prescribed any more medication. I've done my own research, after the fact, and started taking coQ10. and I've noticed a big difference!

Quality of life? Well, I'd rather have high cholesterol and die from that, than be poisoned again by statins. What quality is there, to live an extremely painful, useless and unfulfilling life? We were all guinea pigs, and we paid a terrible price for this! I hope we all can recover from this with no long term side effects.
If you are considering taking cholesterol lowering drugs do some careful research on statin drugs before you take them, and read the testimonies from those effected by them.

I am 52 years old. Omnicef was prescribed to me for an ear and sinus infection. I took the medication for five of the ten days prescribed. Praise God, I did not take the remaining five days. Otherwise, I believe I would be in the hospital! I missed three days of work due to non-stop diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps and rumbling, muscle and joint pain. I cannot begin to describe the pain this medication causes. It was been 17 days since my first dose of this horrific drug and I am still having stomach issues. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS DRUG! I WILL NEVER TAKE IT AGAIN.

This website may not have saved my life, but it has certainly saved my sanity. Beginning in May 2007 I was prescribed Toprol XL for a supposed heart condition. I was instructed to begin with 50 mg per day and go to 100 mg per day after 10 days. Since I already had the 50 mg tablets, I simply started taking 2 of them together when I raised the dosage. On July 25 I ran out of the 50 mg tabs and filled a prescription for 100 mg tabs. Immediately upon starting the 100 mg tabs I began experiencing side effects which increased in severity daily. By Monday July 30 I was convinced I was losing my mind. Then I discovered this website, and read that many other people had suffered in the same way. What I have trouble grasping is why the same dosage had different effects. I tolerated the 100 mg/day dose just fine when taking 2 50 mg tabs, but the 100 mg was dreadful. I've checked the pills, and both the 50 mg and 100 mg are Astra-Zeneca products, not generic. The markings, shape and size are consistent with 100 mg tabs, so I haven't been inadvertently given an overdose. I immediately backed off the dosage, and am gradually going to reduce and stop the medication. I urge anyone who is having these problems not to stop at reporting them here, but also to contact Astra-Zeneca at www.astrazeneca.com, and to report them to the FDA's Medwatch website, www.fda.gov/medwatch. It may seem fruitless to contact Astra Zeneca, but they need to be made aware of these problems.

I'm 35 and I've have had mild asthma since I was about 10 year old. At times I've been able to go weeks without needing to take anything, then stress, envirnoment triggers etc fire it up. I started taking advair 100/50 a couple of years back, and right now my breathing feels just about the worst it ever has. Without the advair I feel an uncomfortable tightness that I've never had before, a whole lot worse that the wheezing. Over the past couple of years I've lacked energy, been a lot more anxious and I've been warned of potential heart issues. I have a very healthy lifestyle and I assumed I was just getting older and more fragile...after reading these posts I'm seeing a possible connection.
Like some other people have said I sometimes feel like something is stuck in my throat / top of my lungs, it almost feels like phlegm but I can't cough it up.
I've stopped the advair for 3 days as of today, so far the tightness is managable, and the rescue inhaler is at hand (although I haven't had to use it yet). I'm hoping I can get back to previous drug free times.

I am 56 and have taken Fosamax for about 6 years. I have recently felt that I have an 80 year old's health, rather than my own age. I have noticed in the last year that I have had increasing leg weakness. Knees hurt, thighs hurt. I feel at times as if they are giving out and it causes me to stumble and fall, on the merest hint of uneven ground, more and more often. This of course means I have more risk of broken bones. The very thing that Fosamax is supposed to be preventing!!

Since taking Fosamax I have develped neck problems, which caused severe dizzyness problems 2 or 3 years ago and I still get dizzy attacks from time to time and neck pain all the time.

Recently (last 5 months) I have had an extensive rash that took two months to clear, extreme fatigue continuously, attacks of diarreha, inability to shake a urniary infection, flu like symptoms on and off for months, worstening of the leg pains to the point of feeling that at times my legs will give out at any time, and stiffness in walking.

I also had an stomach ulcer last year, that was surgically teated. The Dr wants me to cut back on the anti inflamitory drug I take for arthristis. Howvere I took this drug for 6 years with no problems, before I also started tsking Fosamax!

Fosamax at first helped the BMD level (I had osteoporosis that went down to osteopenie level), but now I am heading back to osteoporosis in my spine, as my reading are now borderline for osteoporosis again.

However I have still had plenty of broken bones since taking Fosamax!! At least one a year. So has it really helped?! or has it given me only extra but more fragile bone mass? I think maybe the latter.

The bad quality of life I am now experiencing has led me to believe that the cure may be much, much worst then the illness (osteopenie or osteoporosis). My mother has had nothing but problems with this sort of drug for osteo also.

I did not link all my symptoms to the Fosamax (despite my mother's experience) until last week, when, in desperation from my strange and inceasingly debilitating symptoms I did some research on the internet and found the hundreds of other reports of the same sort of problems with Fosamax, Particularly the leg and muscle pain and weakness.

Now of course I will see what being off it for a couple of months will do.

I've been taking Doxycycline for three days now, and my lips are numb, my eyes are twitching, and my hands are tingling. Also my heart feels like it's racing or fluttering.
The worst bit is that I've been given it for a pelvic infection caused by dislodged Mirena device, and I've had dreadful abdominal pain since the device was removed, but don't know if that's due to the damage done by the device, or the Doxycline, which is definitely causing gastric problems.

Tracy,

You may be lucky and have only milder side effects. However, just to prepare you, I found the first 6-8 weeks relatively easy (and I know others here have said the same.) I can pinpoint the day the bad stuff started--it was November 12th, and I came off it on September 18th. Since then it's been dreadful, although the last few days have been an improvement.

Hope this helps.

I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS WEBSITE! I HAVE BEEN ON LISINOPRIL 10mg NOW FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS AND FOR MOST OF THAT TIME I HAVE HAD THE MOST HORRIBLE, CROUPY COUGH.
IT STARTS AS A TICKLE IN THE THROAT, THEN I AM AWARE OF PHLEGM IN THE THROAT AND THE COUGHING THAT FOLLOWS COULD BE DESCRIBED AS 'VIOLENT'AND NOT A LITTLE SCARY! THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY; I CAN BE SUDDENLY WOKEN UP BY COUGHING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, PRODUCING A LARGE AMOUNT OF PHLEGM AND EXPERIENCING A DREADFUL WRACKING, CHOKING SENSATION AND SOMETIMES THIS WILL TAKE MINUTES TO CLEAR.
I SELDOM AM ABLE TO SPEAK ON THE PHONE WITHOUT THE CONVERSATION BEING LIBERALLY PEPPERED WITH APOLOGETIC, RASPY COUGHS.
THE SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OF THE COUGH IS ALWAYS WORSE TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY, AND OFTEN LEADS TO A TIGHT, SORE FEELING IN THE CHEST.
I HAVE TWICE BEEN TO SEE THE DR WITH THESE SYMPTOMS, AND HAVE BEEN SENT FOR CHEST X-RAYS AND GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS. THE FINDINGS ARE ALWAYS NEGATIVE AND THE SYMPTOMS HAVE NEVER BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO LISINOPRIL. HAVING READ OF THE SYMPTOMS OTHER LISINOPRIL USERS ARE EXPERIENCING, I AM CONVINCED THAT IN MY CASE AT LEAST, LISINOPRIL IS THE CAUSE OF THIS DREADFUL COUGH, AND TO A LESSER EXTENT, ACHY LIMBS.
I PLAN TO SEE THE DR YET WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND WILL MENTION THIS WEBSITE AND THE SIMILARITIES OTHER PATIENTS ON LISINOPRIL HAVE EXPERIENCED.
SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! I WILL BE REQUESTING A CHANGE OF MEDICATION PDQ!

Firstly I am Male, aged 48. Suffer from really bad Hay Fever for years now and the same Doctor has administered Kenalog to me for about 6 years, once a year but twice this year. I am suffering dreadful pains in my ankles and lower back and a different doctor today has suggested it is the onset of Arthritis. After quizzing me more I mentioned having taken Kenalog for several years ( I thought it had no relationship whatsoever my current ailment) she has lectured me NOT to use it again. She suggests that it could be a contributing factor to my "Arthritis"( hope I'm spelling that right) Anyway, now I know! But, trouble is, what to do next summer..I really will suffer without it.

hi everyone, thanks for the response and great advice for my daughter. As you know she is almost 18 and has suffered all the depression/anxiety symptoms. She went to a fantastic psychologist a couple of days ago, he says she has social anxiety, and yes that is exactly what it is, the anxiety kicks in when she has to go to a party, work, away to our holiday house for the weekend etc. He along with the doctor have not dismissed a problem with hormones causing all of this, So now she is learning ways on how to cope with the anxiety, is going to ease herself back to work and we just hope that she will improve bit by bit. Its incredible to think that she is on a high dose of lexapro{40mg} and stil suffering from extreme bouts of anxiety. I think that any woman suffering from these dreadful side effects of yasmin must do all they can to improve their quality of life, whether it be vitamins, massage, councilling or what ever may help in any small way, these things may help your wellbeing and assist you to have a complete recovery. good luck to all

This website is wonderful! I finally have peace thanks to being off Advair and knowing that all those dreadful symptoms were side effects of Advair.
I have been on ASMANEX now for 29 days and haven't misssed my life before on Advair. When I was on Advair, my asthma was not in control. I used my inhaler at least 2X/day, I was panting when I exercised, my asthma woke me up at night and my leg cramps kept me from falling asleep for many hours every night.
I was on Advair 250/50 and felt awful. I now take ASMANEX 220mcg only once per day; before I go to bed and my asthma is in control. I am taking 280 mcg LESS of steriod than when I was on Advair and no Serevent and I feel better than I ever have!
It's amazing b/c I tried Advair 100/50 and it didn't work for me at all but ASMANEX(mometasone) is much more effective.
I have been waiting for this drug to come on the market for some time (it is the same drug as Nasonex just like Flovent is the same drug as Flonase) b/c I have horrible allergies which flares my asthma and I have found that Nasonex (mometasone) was far superior for clearing nasal congestion than Flonase so I assumed it (Asmanex) would work great for asthma too and I was right.
As a matter of fact Nasonex works so well compared to Flonase that at the moment it is pollen season and I don't even feel like I have allergies. Now that is amazing.

Hi Ladies!
I like many of you have had a horrible experience with Yasmin. I was on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years. I didn't realize while on it that all of my problems were due to this pill. I have been off for three months now and I am slowly, very slowly getting better. I was just curious if anyone out there has had disturbing and irrational thoughts while getting off? I have been having a hard time mentally. My anxiety is also terrible. I am very emotional because I have no clue where any of these thoughts are coming from. Well, I hope to hear some feedback. Also, how long has it taken for this dreadful pill to get out of your system? I am so happy I found this site. Thanks again!

RE: Guest # 10243
I have been on Paxil going on three months and I experience terrible night sweats. I wake up drenched and it feels like its freezing. Sometimes to the point where I get up in the middle of the night to shower. As time goes on, it doesn't seem to be getter any better or any worse. I have recently began having night terrors as well. And also I wake myself up at night from grinding my teeth. Since I have been on Paxil I have found myself again. I know who I am. My depression is almost non-exsistance as well as those dreadful panic attacks. The bad out weighs the good for me. To all of you who Paxil hasn't helped, I hope you are able to find what works for you..good luck.

I started taking Yasmin in August and stopped taking it five weeks ago.

Whilst I was taking this horrible pill I was subject to the worst stomach cramps, bloating, constant GAS!, my weight increased, my breasts were HUGE, sore and itchy, I was dizzy constantly, I had NO SEX DRIVE whatsoever, my appetite increased and I couldn't stop eating, and worst of all I had a dreadful bout of thrush that lasted the entire two months (and still remains a problem today).

I honestly thought there was something wrong with me, like I wasn't healthy but it was this pill all along. I can only be thankful I didn't suffer from anxiety attacks like so many of you.

If you are suffering from these dreadful side effects and you have not been feeling your normal self since you started taking Yasmin, stop taking it immediately and see your doctor. I acknowledge that some of you have not experienced any negative side-effects. It's great if you can find a pill that suits you.

After five weeks Yasmin-free I'm getting back to normal. The awful side-effects have disappeared although I'm still waiting for my sex drive to return and the thrush is still causing problems. Fingers crossed!!!

I've been on Ovcon 35 for a month and a half now. This is my first time on the pill and i haven't had any serious problems.

The first week i was nauceous as was expected and the second week i missed a pill and i felt nauceous, dizzy and faint that day.

I see my period on time and it lasts for 4-5 days as usual. I used to have dreadful cramps and it's helped me alot, the only time i was in pain was the day of my last pill right b4 my period started but after that i was fine.

I also notice my boobs getting bigger and that was one of the main reasons i visited this site. I see i'm not alone and i dont mind at all. =)

I have had bloating, aching legs, feeeling of pressure in the eyes, spangly vision, blurring of vision - and I think that has contributed to my first ever car accident today after 17 years without an accident (my 2 year old was in the car at the time!!!!!), depression (and I am soooo angry that none of this was mentioned when I ASKED what the side effects were - I have battled with depression for many years and have not come this far just to have a drug take it away from me!) I have also battled with weight gain over the last 18 months and lost 60lbs. I asked about weight gain and was told it would just be an increase in appetite. I have honestly watched what I have eaten and gained 6lbs in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!! Also mood swings. And why am I on it? I went to an ENT doc with a fluttering in my ear that has been annoying me for about 2 or 3 months. On further investigation, he said I had a lot of mucus in one of my nasal passages and that may well be giving me the fluttering sensation in my ear. Compared to the other complaints for which this drug is prescribed, I'd say it was pretty minor. I CANNOT BELIEVE HE PRESCRIBED THIS FOR ME. I feel dreadful and am facing a fine or day in court for a traffic accident that I feel is related to the use of this drug. I am also petrified that it will take me a long time to reverse the effects of this drug. I will be calling the doctor to get me off this drug first thing this morning...he even made the restlessness/mania sound positive...'some people report a feeling of energy and get their attic cleaned out...' What about screwing up my body??? I am scared. If anyone can help me feel less scared, I would appreciate it.
