Hello, I can't help but get into the Mirena conversation. Three months after my son was born, I was put on the Mirena IUD. I had a ton of symptoms. My hair was falling out, tired, weak, headaches, stomach cramps, and just all around felt like crap. I went back to the doctors to have the Mirena removed positive that it was the Mirena that was making me feel like crud. The doctor persuaded me to keep it in longer and after much debate and feeling flustered with the doc I agreed for a couple more months. Well symptoms got ten times worse to the point I called and demanded to be seen right away to have it removed. Well after it was removed, I felt better but not completely. I started losing weight, I had periodic migraines which mind you I never had a migraine in my entire life, and felt like a truck ran over my body every morning when I got out of bed. I went to the doctors and they ran a slew of tests and NOTHING! Well about a month after a car ran a stop sign and crashed into me. I hit my head. IT was the best damn thing ever, I got a cat scan and it showed something on my brain. A MRI picked up a right cerebellum hemangioblastoma about 3cms. I had to have brain surgery to have it removed. They decided to do a full scan and I now currently have a kidney hemangioblastoma. Moral of this story. I am 31 years old, I have always been healthy with no migraines, no ailments, nothing. I have the Mirena put in and I feel like shit and they found a brain and kidney tumor. The estimated both my brain and kidney tumor to be about 2 yrs old. THE EXACT TIME I GOT THE MIRENA IN. Hemangioblastomas are either sporadic of VHL. With sporadic, usually you only get 1 and if you get another its later on down the road and my two tumors would not be the same age so it rules that one out. VHL, I had a genetic test done and it came up negative. So anyone of answers for my mishap. I know the Mirena caused this for me. Im just looking for someone with a similar story

Was prescribed HCTZ and started taking it off and on in early August. Pain in the butt cutting the pills in half. Started to feel weird feeling in my left ear and cheek and then numbness spreading up my face, forehead and scalp.(I did have a few beers the weekend before this happened) Took myself to ER. MRI, CT, full blood work, thyroid check, EKG, heart and lung xray. ALL PERFECTLY NORMAL. Of course I was diagnosed with possible MS, Belle's Palsy, and was told I might just be wired weird.
Went to primary the following day for follow up and was told that my blood pressure may have been the cause of the episode. Prescribed Lisinopril and started taking it immediately 10/12.5. Started feeling good pretty quick, but noticed a few crazy dreams and almost like I was falling.
Missed a few doses and and had a few beers over the labor day weekend. Started meds on Monday but started feeling pins and needles coming back in different parts of my body. Continued to take meds and then went camping. Had a few beers around the fire. Woke up next morning with slight case of Vertigo. Continued with meds through the weekend and have felt dizzy, dumb, tired, my eyes don't move correctly, my left arm has felt numb and swollen, my left cheek tingles and I feel so swollen in my gland area under my ears. Knee pain too.
I didn't take a dose today, and I feel 100% better. Still tingly and numb in spots, but better. A little anxious and my heart feels like it's beating really deep and fast. BP is 154/82 after going down quite a bit on the drug.
Anyone else had trouble with the alcohol? Any similar symptoms? This site has calmed me down as I've always been a worrier/hypocondriac type. any response or idea would be really appreciated. Thanks everyone...good luck!

Is anyone also taking adderall, along with Yasmin? I had a baby 9 months ago and was off of adderall and Yasmin for about a year. In April, I stopped breastfeeding and got back on adderall and Yasmin's generic version, Othello. I was fine for a few months. Then, in July, I noticed the anxiety and related symptoms: lump in my throat, numbness in fingers (I had this when I was prego, too, as I gained 80 lbs., etc., but it went away for a while), feeling like my heart was racing, moodiness, etc. I take my Othello at night, as I sometimes get nauseous at the beginning of the pack, and don't want to "suffer" during the day. At first I thought it was my adderall, as it can sometimes cause anxiety-related symptoms, but I went off of it for a few days and I still had the exact same symptoms, because I was still taking Othello. I even cut down on my caffeine. I love coffee, but have started getting half-caf. drinks. I think I need to go off of the Othello, because I really think that it is the source of all my "issues". Does anyone have a similar story or advice that they can share? Thanks! :)

Well I'm dealing with all of the above. I went straight to 20mg for a 145/90, I feel like CRAP. Back pain, dry throat, feeling like I must breath deeply, insomnia. Last week the sweaty palms and lack of hunger around noon time started (I talk it with dinner). I like to have a few drinks at night and initially I thought it was alcohol withdrawal, funny it started when I got on the meds. Anyone else with a similar story? I haven't taken it today and we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I'm 38 years old and I started Topamax in July of 2008 for severe migraines. I've had an average of 12-15 migraines per month since my early 20's and nothing was working. While initially adjusting to Topamax I had the tingling in my hands and feet during the first month but then it went away. My neurologist increased the dose very slowly from 50mg to 100mg to 150 mg. The migraines have decreased in response to each dose increase. At 100 mg the migraines reduced to 10 per month and at 150mg they reduced to 6 per month. My dose is now being raised to 200 mg which the Dr. says is the maximum recommended for treating migraines. The worst side effects I've experienced are extremely dry mouth (from 150 mg+) and slight hair loss. My starting weight was 138 and I lost 11 pounds very gradually before my weight stabilized at 127. I haven't noticed any problems with food or drinks tasting different. For some reason, I always have insomnia for the first week after a dose increase but then it goes away. I've only had mild concentration problems but nothing notable or problematic. So far, the medication has been remarkable and I can't believe what it's like to live life without so much migraine pain! I hope other people can have the same benefits from this medication.

I have been on 100 mg topamax for a few months now, and i was actually having people try my drinks bc i thought they was flat, and i would feel my fingers and my toes go numb and tingle. I honestly never thought for two seconds it was my medication. The only side effects i was warned about was weight loss (which hasn't occurred with me) and that i would be very thirsty, which i am. But i have NIGHTMARES about things im not even afraid of, and i have trouble spelling words i didn't before, and sometimes i can't even remember what i wore last week to school. Im starting to rethink this whole topamax thing, does anyone know any other prescriptions that will help headaches without the crazy effects?

Hello Ladies!
I had my Mirena put in on 6/2008 after giving birth to my second kid on March 2008. Since then I was diagnosed with post-partum depression. Which came as a surprise to me since I didn't get this with my first baby. Doctors do say all pregnancies are different, therefor I figured my doctor was right. FOR A REASON HE'S A DOCTOR! But then I started getting severe head-aches, I have lost most of my hair, mood swings (which are the worst) and this stiffness on my upper back that won't go away even with 10 Excedrins. I have tried everything to get ride of this pain but everything is just temporary. I have had a dozen anxiety attacks. Like many of you ladies out there I blamed my job for stress, my husband for mood swings, and my kids for headaches. I had suicidal thoughts for no apparent reason. My life is great. No money problems, my husband and I have been together for 5 years and I have a great paying job but I am still not happy and I am on depression pills. I also had memory lost and I am only 26 years old. I was uninterested in hanging out with friends, having drinks, talking to anyone or going out at all. last but not least I have been wearing prescription glasses for a whole year straight because my sight is foggy. THAT' IS NOT A COINCIDENCE! After reading your comments, I have decided to have this monster taken out. I had to beg my doctor to do it since he insisted I was wrong about the mirena and that I am only depressed. Well, I know my body better then anyone else and I know for a fact it was THE MONSTER making me feel like this. I finally had it removed today and I already feel a little better. I am getting cramps but nothing major. I forgot to tell you I also gained 15 pounds out of nowhere because I eat like I did before my pregnancy and after dieting and exercising I couldn't loose the weight. I am hoping this will help you all and I will post my post-mirena symptoms in 2 weeks.

I am a 27 year old female and have suffered from migraines for 10 years. My neurologist prescribed 12.5 mg for the 1st week, 25 mg the 2nd week, 37.5 mg the 3rd week and 50 mg by the 4th week and then we will re-evaluate on the 6th week. I am on my 2nd day and have experienced a few side effects.....tingling in my arm and lips, frequent diarrhea, carbonated drinks taste flat, trouble typing/spelling and a burning sensation in my eyes. My arm also feels heavy and dead. I am willing to give topamax a try--I can't stand living with my migraines! I think the most bothersome side effect is the inability to type/spell correctly. Hopefully with time, these effects will subside. Wish me luck! (hope I spelled everything correctly!)

my experience with Yasmin has not been the best. and for once, i actually gave this birth control a try. but, over time, i've been getting chest pains, very bad headaches, and the worst mood swings. i get so anxious, i have to yawn all the time to get my breath. sure, i do drink caffeine drinks, and that might intensify the anxiety, but i do not trust this birth control, or any others really. i mean, who honestly knows what the hell they put in this stuff? no one. fake hormones are bad for you, no if ands or buts about it. i guess it might help acne and all that stuff, but whats more important? your well being, or your little acne problem, or acess hair problems? i'm pretty sure a good state of mind is better than that. i quit taking this stuff a few days ago, and i know it's not going to be completely out of my system for a while. i am never taking Yasmin again. the headaches, and unbearable mood swings, to the point to where i can't stop crying. nope. not doing it anymore. and more power to you if it works for you, that's a good thing. everyone's different, therefore it'll effect everyone differently, but i see a lot of the same symptoms in a lot of women on here. so, something must not be right.

Ok, so here is a new one for you. I have had migraines for a very long time, since I was a teenager, and never really sought physician treatment because in our family a headache was "nothing to cry about". So, now that I am married with 4 kids and an advancing career, having migraines on a weekly basis isn't something I can live with anymore. So I went to my doctor. He said what about preventing them with Topamax. I know what Topamax is, I'm a nurse, I know what the potentials are, but I had not really heard of the side effects when using it in a perfectly healthy person. ANd I must say it has to be my own fault for saying "sure" and not investigating first. WARNING= Topamax is a drug for seizures, effecting the central nervous system, and will have effects on a healthy person's central nervous system. Now, not doing my research I will also not have known that you are supposed to be titrated very slowly up with increasing doses, starting at a suggested dose of 15-25 mg per day for the first week the 50 then to 100, etc. I was begun at 50 mg/day for a week then 100 mg a day thereon out. Please, if you experience the symptoms the pharmacy warns you about, but they are exaggerated, go back to your doctor!! Here are my symptoms by day
Days1-3- Normal effect- tingling hands/feet, taste loss of some drinks, foggy unable to think clearly
Day4-5- horrible head pain, back of my head, not like my migraine pain, stabbing and pins/needles in hands/feet, still can't taste, nausea, dizziness, confused (like I couldn't find my way to my doctor's office confused)
Day 6- And I am entirely embarrassed to say this one because I am a nurse, and I know what it implicates... Pseuedoseizure. I was in the doctors office, in the waiting room and I could not control my muscles. I knew it wasn't a seizure because I could hear some of what was going on around me, but something was not right. I couldn't move anything and I didn't remember everything. And all the above symptoms, along with. But, naturally normal CT...
Day 7- It happens again... And this time I have some right sided weakness and all the above, that's it, it has to be the Topamax, we are done. It's only been a week, so cold turkey.
That is my experience with Topamax, and unless I am actually seizing, it is a journey I will never take again, I have 4 little ones that depend on me too much. PLEASE research before you try whatever is handed to you!!

Like most of you all I am on Topamax 100mg. I am a 27 year old female that has suffered from severe migraines for over 20 years that would last up to 2-3 days and completely debilitated me. I would bleed from my tear ducts from the extreme pressure and I would need to be in a quiet, cold, closed off room to be left alone until the migraine was gone to continue on with my life. It was ruining my life and taking over my day to day routine. I could never really commit to anything without the constant worry in the back of my mind about a possible migraine until I found Topamax. Now on Topamax I went from 4-5 migraines weekly to 1-2 monthly, it is truly amazing, however there is a catch. Although the medication is wonderful and I will never get off of it at the rate of success that I am at, I do have side effects. I have extreme tingling in my extremities, (hands, feet) along with my face. It feels like they are constantly asleep. I also have noticed the poor tasting carbonating drinks along with my taste buds changing with certain foods that I use to be so fond of. I also have a very smokey haze where it almost feels euphoric if I wake up in the middle of the night. I have horrible nightmares of people that I have not seen in or thought of in years, memory loss and spelling issues-all goes away after 3-4 months of uses. I had shortness of breath, however that subsides as well with the use of the medications along with several other side effects. I have lost over 30lbs that is along with diet, so I can't say it is all Topamax. I have noticed little nodules that have been showing up on my hands since I stared taking the medication that I am in ? about I have a call in to my neurologist to see if he has heard of any such thing. Other than that I love the medication, because if not having migraines is one of the side effects-lol I can handle the side effects. I hope that this will help anyone that might have anything similar to what I am going through. If you can shed some light on my nodule situation please let me know. Thanks

I was prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate 100m for acne on January 20th 2009. Then, on February 6th, I took the medication at 11:00 only to wake up at 11:40pm with severe chest pains. I have never had anything wrong with me heath wise and the first thing that popped into my mind was the medicine. I went to the doctors the next day because the pain had become so severe and i could not eat or drink anything (even water) without feeling a sudden sharp pain. They did an x-ray and found nothing wrong. I was told it was probably anxiety and this medicine had nothing to do with the chest pains. I
went ahead and took it again last night only to still have chest pains so i decided to do research on this medicine and came to this where i found posts in which similar things were experienced upon taking the medication. I have just stopped taking the medication today and am hoping for the pains to go away.

Um I started taking Yasmin a month before I went to college, so I've been on it for about 2ish years now. I would say I have a lower sex drive, but I don't know if it's birth control or just me getting a little older. Other than that no problems, but I also started getting horrible hangovers when I started college too, which didn't ever happen before. I was wondering if anyone had notice that Yasmin and alcohol may cause severe stomach issues or if it just means as I got older my hangovers got WAYYYYY worse. I mean it's not just a normal hangover, my stomach hurts so bad I can't get out of bed. And it's not because I started drinking more in college, I would say I easily drink less now and no matter if I have 2 drinks or 10 I feel the exact same.

I'm 25 and diagnosed with IC when I was 23. I'm taking elmiron 100mg/3 times daily. I have to down ibuprofen quite often for side effects from IC. It doesn't seem to go away. I'm taking amitriptyline(using for muscle relaxer) 25mg/twice daily for spasms. That seems to help quite a bit but just for spasms. My doc told me I was having issues because the acid(from food or drinks) in the bladder was bringing the IC back. So, I started taking Prelief which is suppose to remove the acid from whatever eating or drinking. But, unfortunately it seems to work with everyone else but me. So, I'm completely lost and my doctors don't seem to think I have enough issues to worry about. I've tried going to other doctors and they either don't deal w/ IC at all or they still aren't accepting new patients. Or my doctor wants me to keep coming in twice a month to give more money when absolutely nothing has changed. What to do?

Since my daughter second gardasil shot she has become tired all the time, she passed out on November 10 and was taken to the doctor. She orderd an EKG, chest xray and blood work. They called me that night and said she has an irregular slow heart beat ( which she has never had before). We went to a heart specialist the next day, he did an echo cardiogram and said things looked fine. If she passed out again, for me to call him and he sent us on our way. Tonight, while she was walking at work, it happend again. We went to E.R. and basically were told to follow up with her doctors on Monday. She is supposed to get the third shot in December, now i am afraid for her to get it. Im wondering if her suddenly getting the slow irregular heart beat, and passing out, irregular period, and headache is connected to the Gardasil. She is 17 and a senior in High School, she was planning on going to college, but now she is afraid to be alone, drive, or do anything that typical teenagers do.

I have a question for anyone who had the Mirena removed. Did you have issues with your emotions post removal? I had mine removed 3 weeks ago and feel so much better. I am even interested in sex and can actually enjoy it! My only "side effect" of the removal is the floodgates of emotions I have. I seem to cry a lot and when I have a few drinks I just bawl over nothing. Anyone else have this happen? I think it is the readjustment in hormones, since I had virtually no feelings on anything for a while.

I have been on Doxycycline for 6 days now. Feel much better after doc change my medicine to doxy.I was laying in bed for all that time with high fever, even when i felt better i kept resting. Drink a lots lots of water or other drinks to stay very hydrate. That is very important to drink all the time. It helps with breathing also. I still have problems with breathing what helps-is to keep your head higher then the rest body. If you laying down and feel pain sit and cover so you stay warm and still can breath. To get through this disease you guys have to be patient and don't move to much. Sometimes it takes 5-7 weeks to get some energy.

Like most of you I took Topamax, the killer for me was the flat drinks and food tastes being off or rank. I take it for my lower back as I have nerve issues and have difficulty walking because of the pain.
I am going back to neurontin. It worked great. Its also been tested and helps for migraines too! Check with your doctors about it.

I'm a 24 year old female, the doctor put me on topamax about a year ago for my migraines, since they stopped making midrin. It made me sleepy beyond anything. Food and drinks started to taste odd, I stopped taking when I lost insurance because it was $170.00 a month. I had been wondering if I should take it again and now after reading this stuff, I am not going to be doing so, while the weight loss would be nice, I don't need to lose my memory at 24 when I have a 3 year old son to worry about, thanks to call that have posted. :D

No way to sleep for the whole night: my brain is clear and my heart's pumping as if I was making some exercise. I lastly had 4 white nights, that's hard. One night I had no other choice and stood up to go out for a jogging ... I also tried to have some drinks in order to make my body feel tired: useless but good headhake at wake up ;-)
I take Winstrol as pills at wake up but 10 mg/day seems to be the limit above wich the insomnia is obvious.
Yesterday I made a test and had a 10 mg while eating pill before going to bed. I was made awake in the early morning by undoubtedly the very same symptoms.

Hi, I have just started Lisinopril today, and wanted to search the internet on side effects. I was taking atenolol and felt I was on the right blood pressure med because it was working. Well I started getting tired after 4 years on atenolol, it started 1 month ago. I went to the Dr. and they did a ekg and told me they are surprised I am still walking/standing because my pulse was measured at 41 and that explained why I was so tired all the time. I am 49 years old and am going through menopause and deal with high blood pressure. Well the Dr. told me to stop the atenolol immediately. Then 2 days later I went to see th Dr. again and they switched my blood pressure over to linsinpril. I also take HCTZ a water pill and have been taking it for years. I hate to say it but I am developing the sore throat thing after 5 hours on the med and I am worried about that. I took my BP reading and it is better than ever 108/59 pulse 68. I guess I will get some honey lozengers for the sore throat. Not saying it is the lisinopril causing it but my body is very delicate and I watch my meds carefully so I know when something goes on in my body (meds) and I feel it right away that I have to wonder if it is going to be an ongoing problem for me. I will keep you updated on this as I really am hoping that the lisinopril helps and I can get my energy back. Have been taking the B12 and magnesium and vitamin D and Calcium. I also take vitamin B2 and B6 every other day. I had yeast infections constantly and the B2 has really helped me with that. I get night sweats and hot flashes and take soy pills for that and the herb sage every other day. I was taking low dose prempro about 6 months ago for 2 years and that made my hair fall out terribly, but also made it grow a lot too, it was a ongoing problem with the hair laying everywhere in sink on the floor etc. I stopped the Low dose prempro and the hair loss stopped, so if I lose hair from lisinopril I will be used to that, but hope it also will grow. I need to give this lisinopril a chance as I have little choice right now. My heart they said was pumping too slow, the pulse should be 60 or above not low like 41 so I will keep updated on how the lisinopril side effects are with my body.

Hi everyone,
I cannot live without xanax and its terrible, I have been on them for 5 months and have tried to stop them and its a nightmare. I suffer memory loss, have blackouts that I do not remember what I have said after a few drinks. It does help ease the social anxiety. But I have become moody, sleepy. . Does anyone else have these problems?

At 50mg a day, Topamax, taken at night, makes me feel very heavy, tired and numb all day. I have been on it for 3 months so far. I also have other side effects mentioned in previous posts. I hate feeling tingly in hands and legs (from the knee down) and sometimes in my face. It is supposed to go away - soon? I get a bad case of my legs falling asleep in almost any position I sit in other than total upright (which is not comfortable). My lifr-long instiable appetite is hardly affected. I'd say maybe a little bit. I do notice taste difference in drinks and food, sometimes more than other times. I need this medicine for Migraines, it has help relieve my symptoms, but I think I need to continue to increase the dose because I still get Migraines and feel pressure in my head a lot.

I was prescribed this medicine for a breast abscess. I have a bad reaction to penicillin and levaquin was given to me as an alternative. I took the first pill at 11:00 pm. I woke up about every 30 minutes drenched in sweat until 2:00 and then could not go back to sleep. I took drinks of water when I woke up in order to keep hydrated. I have a lap band, and I noticed that the water wasn’t going down easily which let me know the medicine had made my stomach swell. I finally fell asleep around 3:30 and had evil nightmares until 5am. I was afraid to go back to sleep so I decided I'd just stay awake until time for me to get up for work. I will be calling my doctor's office as soon as they open to let her know this medicine is not for me. After reading your stories, I refuse to take it another day.
