I have been taking 50 mg. of Toprol daily for the last six months because I was having PVC's. After being on the medication for about a month, I started noticing my PVC's were unnoticeable, and I was thrilled because they drove me crazy, especially when it was time to go to bed. However, I am a lifetime weight watcher, and after 5 mos. on the medication I suddenly gained 10 lbs., and I was horrified. To make matters worse, strict dieting on the weight watcher's program and daily aerobic exercise did NOTHING to bring me back down to my normal weight. I am going to see my doctor this week because he knows how important my weight is to me (he saw me go down to 140 pounds after weighing in at 205 lbs). My doctor left a message for me when I inquired about this by phone that he thought it was unlikely that the Toprol had anything to do with my weight gain; however, I beg to differ. Even if the weight gain was not due to Toprol, then somebody needs to explain to me why I have not been able to take the ten pounds off..........

AFter I see my doctor, I'll give you all an update...

Oh my goodness. I am so glad to be able to read your posts on doxy. I am taking 100mg twice/day for third bout of lyme disease. The first two times on doxy were not a problem. You know what they say .. third time is a charm.
Anyway, two days after starting the doxy my hands got numb/tingly and drove me crazy (very hard to fly fish with tingly hands). Then it was my feet and right cheek. I noticed that despite being covered up and using sunscreen that any sun now on my hands makes them start tingling.
It is now one week since the start of the pills and I do notice these symptoms going away - good thing too.

Yasmin nearly drove me crazy!!!! I have been on yasmin since it came out 4 years ago. It worked great at first. Started taking it for my skin which dramatically improved within 2 months of starting yasmin. But then i started to develop extreme anxiety. Irrational thoughts and fears were part of my day, every day. Then i was diagnosed with B12 deficiency. Next came the weight gain and headaches. I still had not linked all of this to the yasmin. I then developed a very painful cyst in my breast which went away during my pill free week. My eyesight got very bad which was alarming as i have always had perfect eyesight. My anxiety was so bad i was prescribed xanax. Then my skin started to get bad again. I stopped the yasmin to see if this was the cause of my problems and slowly my problems began to subside. Except for the anxiety. Within 2 months of stopping yasmin i have lost the weight i put on. All of the weight was around my waist and hips. The cyst in my breast has gone. I am now been treated with low dose naltrexone for a damaged immune system which i feel was cused by yasmin and feel like i have been given a new life. Anxiety gone, skin great, eyesight improved. I know that the yasmin caused my problems. It was great at first but the long term effects are horrendous. I feel strongly that much more research needs to be done on the long term effects of this bcp. If anybody else has had the same experience please comment here as it would be interesting to find out if my feelings about yasmin are true. To anybody considering yasmin i say BEWARE!!!!!!

I was taking Lotrel 5/20 and had a bad ringing/roaring in my ears that drove me crazy at times. About four months ago I ran out of my pills and thought I could get by without them but my bp went up to 184/118. While I was off of them the ear noise seem to go away. Now that I'm back on them the noise is back. Could this be a side effect? Also my legs ache very bad.

I have been taking Yasmin for at least 6 months now. I hate it now. I have the absolute worst cramps ever. I cramp so bad I think I'm in labor or something. The pain shoots down my right thigh too. I am 27 years old and I havent had cramps like these since I was 13. My flow is very brown and like a gooey clunky consistency. It's gross. I'm also noticing my breasts are swollen, I've gained at least 10 lbs., I go through intense hunger spells, I'm tired - don't want to get out of bed in the morning, and now I've even got acne again. I also experienced a weird eye thing a few months ago. I went to the eye doctor he said I had floaters -- this didn't look like floaters to me -- they looked like someone took a pencil and dotted a whole bunch of little dots on a piece of paper -- that is what I was looking through for about 3 weeks. Drove me crazy. I was taking Ortho Novum 777 (tri-phasil) for 2 years before I switched to Yasmin (mono-phasil). With 777 I had really bad migraine headaches. With Yasmin -- pretty much no headaches. But the cramps -- the cramps give me a headache from the pain now. I'm calling my doctor to make an appointment to talk about putting me on a new pill. I'm going to ask about the new Ortho TriCyclen-Lo. I'm also calling Berlex Labs at 1-888-237-5394 to tell them about my horrible side effects.
