Much like others, I was prescribed Bactrim for a UTI. I had only taken 2 pills before I noticed the strange blister/knot on the top of my tongue. I was terribly achy, but did not associate these symptoms as drug allergies as I have never been allergic to any antibiotic in the past. I went to sleep- weird dreams. Woke up and the "knot" had moved toward the base of my tongue, my neck/glands were sore, my speech was slurred due to the knot and the numb tongue. This site has been most helpful. I stopped the med and will not be taking it ever again.

I just finished a 10 day (4xday) prescription of Flagyl (250 mg) prescribed by my Gastro doctor for treatment of (SIBO) Severe Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Two days after finishing Flagyl I broke out in hives all over my body and my upper eyelids were very swollen. Now my dermatologist has me on Zyrtec and Prednisone. Has anyone broken out with hives and had swollen eyes from taking Flagyl?

First let me say, i have taken Avelox twice before and had NO side effects whatsoever! It worked great on my pneumonia the last two times (a yr apart) and i recovered very quickly. However, this time was different. I usually only have pneumonia once a yr Jan or Feb time frame, this time i have gotten it thanks to an unthinking oaf (who knew we have 7 little ones at home) and came to visit with a rip roaring sinus infection. I get pneumonia when everyone else gets sinus infections, who knows why? This time my dr. prescribed the usual Avelox for 10 days and the very first dose i was ok for the first hour and after that, wham i was in the bathroom with diarrhea and almost immediately began to vomit to the point where i could not control it, and then my hands and feet turned red and itchy was gone the next morning. I feel lucky compared to some of these people, and i have many drug allergies so i do understand it can be quite aggravating, but any time you have any type of reaction to any meds you should IMMEDIATELY discontinue and then call the doctor. any doctor who tells you anything else should be FIRED!! My husband and i are both EMTs and let me tell you, if your doctor doesn't discontinue use of a medication that causes reaction of any kind--let alone a severe one needs to go back to school. Anxiety attacks, etc. that some of these people have had are NOT minor, they are not side effects, it is an allergic reaction, to a medication. If it were me, i would be firing that doctor immediately or getting a second opinion. Common Sense is so rare these days, if it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't. Do not be afraid to shop around for a new doctor, YOU are their bread and butter, You are still a customer and there are so many out there these days you can find one that IS what he or she should be, concerned about You and YOUR health,
not one who speaks over you or disregards your concerns or symptoms! If your doctor keeps you on a medication that you are allergic to--FIRE him or her and find a new one!

after 2 months on Verelan PM I started itching. Four months later I am still itching. My doctor said to try it with an antihistamine. It is also very hard on the stomach. I have a multitude of drug allergies and am not sure what is next.

On OCt. 20th, 2005 I received injections of Kenalog with lidocaine and epinephrine (total 2cc.s) into 6-8 sites in atypical scar tissue and lesions. Ten minutes later I went into anaphylactic shock and was given 2 shots of benadryl in my hips. Didn't help much, 911 was called and the paramedics injected me with more stuff and I was taken to the emergency room. Ever since then, the muscles under my left eye constantly twitch. The doctor thinks I was allergic to the lidocaine and wants to give me more Kenalog injections. I have no prior drug allergies. Did anyone else get an allergic reaction to Kenalog?

About 3 years ago I had pneumonia, full blown on both sides. At the Emergency Room when I was still going thru the check in process for addmittance to the hospital they started an IV of Levaquin. After about 3 min. my arm started turning red and swelling. They immediately removed so did not have any bad side effects. After reading all these comments on the drug, I do believe it was my Angel looking after me. I added it to my list of drug allergies.

I went to the dr yesterday. Its been 3 weels since the last dose of levaquin. I still have the rash alth it has gotten some better. the condition of my skin is dry and itchy, whic i have never had a prob with til now and I will be 48 this month.
The dr wanted to put me on prednisone which would have slowed down or stopped my auto immune system and that drug has side effects all of its own. The levaquin caused my auto immune system to attack the drug, hence the allergic reation. Now modern medicine wants to give me another drug to conteract the drug that caused all the havoc in the first place. I am suppose to go back in a week. I am NOT going back. I threw the prescription in the garbage, I am giving my own body the chance to rid itself of this poision naturally. i am drinking lots of water and not even taking a antihistamine now. I may end up being one of the lucky ones who don't have the problems with muscles, tendons, joints ect after taking this drug. I do have some numb and tingly feelings and sone "muscle tightening cramps" for want of any other way to desribe it in my calf muscles. I am staying as far away from drs and medicine as i can in the future. I would have to be chronically ill to take another antbiotic period. This drug should never have even been prescribed for me with my history of drug allergies and I should not have been stupid and gullible enough to have taken this drug.

I have been taking Singulair for about 2 weeks for severe allergies. Right away all of my symtoms completely disappeared and I thought I discovered a miracle drug. I have chronic allergic rhinitis along with some drug allergies-so since Singulair was taking care of all my symtoms, I decided not to take any antihistimines or decongestants. I am still using the cortisone nasal spray.
I can truthfully say I feel somewhat depressed. I even asked the doctors assistant about it, and she was going to look into it. I feel like I don't want to do anything which is totally unlike me. Everything is a chore and I have to force myself to do my daily work. I have not had any nightmares but I can also attest to the crabbiness. It's strange - I snap at the littlest things. Also I have the tightness in my chest (daily) and wondered if it was related. Just yesterday I noticed a very strange twinge in the muscle in my thigh. It hurts everytime I walk which I have never experienced before.
After reading all of your posts - I think I'm ditching the Singulair and going back to my Chlortrimeton and deal with my headaches. I feel like I can deal with the headaches better than this other nonsense....since the allergies have been a chronic problem most of my adult life. I have never felt like this before and have no reason to.

If none of the other postings tell you to get off of this drug, I certainly hope this one will. I began taking 5 mgs. of Lisinopril after visiting my Physician due to back pain. I have been a runner my whole life and went in because I had pulled my back out. I was very nervous; hence the high blood pressure….I was told by the nurse that I probably had white-coat-hypertension. Anyway, after being scared out of my mind, by this Doctor, I agreed to go on this drug, even though, at 50, I had never taken any other kind of drug in my life….HATE DRUGS! I began having heart palpitations after the first day on this drug, and one month after taking this poison, I began experiencing severe itching on my head, neck, and top of my back. I had just visited my salon and thought it was due to hair dye, which I had never had allergy to before. The itching increased and then I started getting severe cramping of my legs. I called my Dr. and was told to purchase organic shampoo/conditioner/soap, and that the leg cramps were probably Restless Leg Syndrome. He told me it was DEFINITELY NOT from the meds. He told me to let him know if the cramping got worse as there was something else that he could prescribe for it. This itching went on gradually for about 5 months. I purchased ever kind of organic shampoos, etc. with no relief, and the cramping of my legs became unbearable. Then, in April of this year, every thing starting to happen. I began itching all over my body and when I itched, it left big red welts wherever my nails hit. After about a week of this, I began breaking out in hives here and there. Went in to the Dr. and told him that I thought this medicine was doing this. This Dr. assured me again, that this would not be the cause of this and told me to take Benadryl and come back the next day so that he could see if I was any better. The Benadryl helped immensely and upon the next Dr. visit, he told me that I had come down with some sort of allergy and it was NOT due to the medicine. Went home and itched my body raw for the next week. Now the hives had turned into huge welts with water in them and my body began swelling with each new day! I stopped this poison on my own and was told to come back in to the Dr. immediately. I was put on Prednisone and told to take massive doses of Benadryl and this idiot Dr. still insisted that it was not from the Lisinopril….my ankles, arms, etc. now were almost double in size and the itching was unbearable. The seven day pack of Prednisone didn’t do a thing. I will say, though that after three days off this poison, my leg cramping subsided and my heart palpations did as well. I decided to take this in my own hands and went to see another Doctor. The Doctor I had been seeing, I found out, owned the Center where he practiced, and I believe he kept having me come back just to make more money. By now, my entire body had huge sores and pits and scales on my skin….I felt like a leper. I went to a Holistic Dr. and told him my story and he could not stop apologizing for the agony that I had been doing through. He told me this was ridiculous. His nurse asked me if I had ever heard of Johnson Steven’s Syndrome, and told me that she thought I had it. I was immediately sent to a Dermatologist and given steroid shots….which did nothing. My skin was pealing off each and ever day in flakes and I itched so bad I wished I were dead. I underwent skin biopsy’s and blood tests which came back showing that I was overwhelming reacting to some sort of allergy. This Dermatologist, who was excellent and didn’t even charge me due to his concern for what I had been through, sent me to an allergist. My small stature body had now increased 25 lbs due to water retention and sores covering my whole body. I can not put into words the agony I was in. Upon the visit to the Allergist, he recognized immediately what I had. He said he saw this type of thing, (not this bad, however), often due to the Lisinopril. Why didn’t that other QUACK Doctor stop this from the beginning…I believe it all comes down to money! Anyway, after almost 6 months of the hives, sores, etc., I am finally seeing a bit of improvement. My legs and back and back of my arms are permanently scarred…they are poke-a-dotted due to the huge hives and massive sores, and I still itch all night long if I don’t take my Benadryl. Who knows what the Benadryl will have done to me in the long run. Please, please look into this medicine and all other medicines that you take. There are holistic, natural methods of getting your ailments under control. Through my experience, I have encountered the most money-hungry, unprofessional Doctor in the world, but I have also experienced the most considerate well-intentioned Doctors. Please do your homework, and find a Doctor that has your best interest in his sight. Through this ordeal the only thing that sustained me was prayer. I have always been somewhat superficial about my looks, weight, etc. and this truly was an eye-opener. It’s amazing what these medicines can do to you, and don’t you wonder if the Pharmaceutical Companies don’t know all of this and could care less due to their hunger for money?!!!! It’s gotten to be a sad world. God Bless!!
