This is the 3rd time I am taking levaquin in about 3 years. I had a MRSA type infection in my eye 2 years ago that I got in the hospital visiting my dying mother. She by the way died of a mysterious"infection" in her spine but frankly reading all of this I suppose it could have been caused by levaquin because they never found an infection but she complained of so much pain in her spinal collumn that they had to put her of morphine. No cause was ever determined but she was a dialysis patient and was given Levaquin on a regular basis for the infections that are common with having a stint in her arm. Her circulatory system collapsed and they could not do dialysis on her and she died after a week.
Getting back to my situation. I got the infection when rubbing the tears out of my eyes and woke up the morning of her funeral with a bad infection in the eye. Was going to eye doctor every week for 3 months thought I was going blind. Took 3 months of 750 mg dose. And multiple eye ointments. My eye sight took a hit and I now need to wear glasses for driving always. Used to have near perfect vision before this. This past year I took it again for Lyme's disease and after about a month after I developed and nerve or tendon pull in my neck that they could not explain how I got it. But I went to the emergency room and they gave me a neck support to wear.
Just was on Levaquin again for upper respiratory infection. Woke up in the middle of the night second day I was taking it. My head was pounding and it felt like it was going to explode (literally). At the same time my chest felt like it was collapsing. I thought I was really going to die and I was entirely coming undone in my mind. I called a friend at 2:30 AM and asked him (who is religious) if he knew any prayers for those who are about to die. I truly felt this was it - the end. No one told me about Levaquin's side effects until the other day when I was reading on the internet. I now have a pulsating sound in my ears that sounds like it is linked to my heartbeat. Never heard this sound before. Its been there for almost a week and it started a few days after I stopped taking the levaquin. I also have been noticing I have a shortness of breath and I am trying to move in a week. I keep getting very fatigued and have to lay down. Find myself falling asleep quite frequently.

jules,
no apology necessary at all. It was all my fault. What do u do for a living? This info. is wonderful! I will do research, but I am very interested in pursuing this further. I am 42 and female. I had a kidney/pancreas transplant four yrs ago. The pancreas failed 9 days after transplantation. It had a blood clot which exploded after they opened me back up and took it out. That was rough. I spent one month in the hospital. Three times in icu. But, I'm still here and doing better. I still feel so bad for my awful attitude I showed to u. That is not me at all. I'm so used to the Docs. telling me what to do when it comes to pills. I really like what u r saying about all this. If pred. was necessary at the time, then I'm ok with that. It's now that it has affected me so greatly. I've lost 32 lbs. so far. I want to lose around 25-30 more. I'm 5'8. Don't want to be skinny, just to feel better.
I printed out the info. u gave me. Thanku for being so forgiving! I've had Diabetes since I was 11. I saw a man on TV talking about a natural way to jump start the pancreas. He was talking about his book. He wrote it because he had made a promise to his dying mother to find a cure for this disease. He said it took him 20 or 30 yrs. to find all the natural ways. I'm ordering his book. I'm going to get all the info. first. He's a Doctor. I've got four transplant surgeons. I really respect everyone of them. But I know there has to be more for me to learn. I can't even take naps, I'm never sleepy. I'll be patient. Easier said than done, right? ha ha
take care jules THANKYOU SO VERY MUCH TRAILBLAZEN ...........................

Yesterday I took my fist capsule of Effexor. I was prescribed it by my doctor as I've been going through a lot of stress, issues with a dying mother, new job, etc. I was having chest pains (Far upper left, near shoulder) So I got some samples.

I took one, with food at about 10:30 AM, 2 hours later I started feeling like I was tweeking! Sketched out, jittery, cant focus, jumpy, headache. I'm like.. "THe cure is worse that the disease!" Didn't sleep at all last night, tremors, brain/thoughs spinning around in a tight buzzing circle. Today I feel like 100lbs of crushed buttholes.

I don't think I need to be taking this stuff. I'm sure the sympoms decrease over time, but I can't afford to be tweeking like this ona new job.
I thought this crap was supposed to REDUCE nervousness? WTF?

I'll be calling the doctor tommorow, but he can have this crap back.

I think I may have to go with my old standby: my weightbench, a nice beer afterwards and a long walk.

THoughts, experiences welcome...
