Anjamaka,
Like you I have taken BCPs since the age of 18 and like you I did not suffer any side effects, I took Yasmin in 2001 with no side effects at all for nearly 4 years when I started to feel really bad :horrendous muscle cramps/ blackouts, hypoglycemia, lost of energy, arthritis, earache, fatigue, heart palpitations etc etc...and I have a very healthy life, I eat well and exercise regularly. When I stopped Yasmin 4 years after, these symptoms went away!! So don't say that we are complaining and wait until your time comes!!

Wow you are all a bunch of complainers who try and blame XYZ on Yasmin which probably have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the pills. I have bee diagnosed with PCOS and have been on hormone therapy since age 15, first zovia, which worked well enough but did not get rid of a lot of my symptoms, only lessened them somewhat, so now I am on yaz. My depression has completely subsided, I feel GREAT and only had some nausea which almost EVERYONE gets when taking a hormone therapy birth control pill. Trust me, if you are going to have SIDE EFFECTS it is not going to happen 4 YEARS LATER, please.... grow up and take responsibility for yourselves, rather than trying to blame a pill

62 year old male. After one month of taking it, my doctor raised me from 50 mg Metoprolol to 100 mg. No side effects until the dosage was raised. Then immediately got a traveling toothache, going from one tooth to another, culminating in an extreme earache. Had many of the symptoms mentioned in this forum, including short term memory loss resulting in my first auto accident in 40 years--a parking lot collision which was my fault. My doctor refused to ascribe any side effects to the drug except headache ; but I was told by local pharmacists that doubling the dose was too drastic and that my symptoms were typical. Had some rebound after stopping on my own a week ago, but pretty much back to normal, and the side effects are gone. I've tried other BP meds and am convinced that modern medicine just doesn't do it. Am looking into natural alternatives.

While taking Levaquin I experienced insomnia and anxiety. One week after completing 500mg a day for 10 days, I began experiencing Tendonitis in my right hand/wrist and have had an incredibly painful earache with tinnitus and vertigo. The ENT doctor diagnosed TMJ, but I do not grind my teeth or clench my teeth. My jaw operates just fine with no immediate pain, but the earache persists almost constantly. The ENT doctor's solution was Vicodin, but I want a cure not a pain treatment. I don't believe I have TMJ and wonder if it could be the temporal tendon. I am indirectly aware of two other people who have had the same experience, and I wonder how many others are out there. If any one else has experienced this and has any knowledge or advice to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. I have no idea who to go to about this. The ENT doctor does not have any solutions, and I doubt a dentist can help me because I don't think it's TMJ.

I never thought about Vytorin being an issue until I went to the ear, nose and throat guy the other day for an earache and bronchitis I had been having for the last month. Reviewing my chart, he said what ever you have heard in the news about Vytorin just ignore and keep taking it. Long story short, every since August I have been having what the doctors might think is MS, but they can't peg it. Tremors and seizures, constant pain in my legs and arms, a vision problem, tired all the time, numbness in my face legs and arms, headaches, depression. the list goes on. I had stomach problems but they could never find anything wrong for my feeling sick all the time, so I'm on another med for that. I was just hospitalized again, this time for pancreatitis, again they have no idea why this occurred, they can't explain it. I just know that I am tired of feeling like crap and being sick and being in the hospital all the time. I am going to talk to my doctors about being pulled off the Vytorin and we will see how I feel then. Plus I guess I need to consult my attorney also.

I was on Singulair for about 5-6 years and I rarely had an asthma attack. I had the vivid dreams that are common with Singulair, but that didn't bother me. I also had the occasional earache, but it was tolerable. My last 3 months of taking this drug, I started "seeing things." I would see shadows darting out of the corner of my eye. At the time I was waitressing and I went out to wait on a table that I thought was there. When I looked up to take their order, there was no one there. One night I almost got into an accident because I thought a car was behind me that was tailing me when there wasn't one. It was at that point that I really started to freak out. I thought I was going insane, possibly schizophrenia. One day I was flipping through a magazine and happened to see an ad for Singulair. I read through all the fine print and saw that a rare side effect was hallucinations! It all made sense at that point and I knew I wasn't going crazy!
I stopped taking Singulair and then started to have breathing problems (I wasn't taking anything for my asthma at that point). I went to the doctor and he laughed when I told him about the hallucinations being from Singulair. He told me to go back on it and see if it happened again. The second or third day I started to see shadows again. I lasted about a week and then just stopped and went to Advair. It doesn't help much.
It makes me really sad that Singulair did this to me. It was the only time in my life where I didn't have to worry about breathing. Now I have to take prednisone about twice a year, which I never had to do on Singulair. I just wanted to write this in case anyone else was experiencing anything similar.

My problems started with bronchitis in December and snowballed. I have very minor asthma since childhood; usually one or two events a year. Don't know what happened but it was out of control. Started on Singulair as a means to bet my asthma controlled so I can go back to easier maintenance. I was only on Singulair 10 days. I had it ALL: depression, anxiety, numbness in legs and feet, flu-like symptoms, earache, leg jerks at night, can't sleep, dreams (when I did dose) that were so weird they were unreal, and the very small hint of stomach ache so I QUIT IT immediately. Went back to my doctor who was not opposed to it all; she send side effects can be nasty for some people and admitted SHE can't even take it. Hello???
I was never a dpressed person; at first I didn't know what in the world was happening to my personality. I think this drug can work for some but it appears to be a few - seems the side effects hit just about everybody in some form. I would be every careful taking this drug; the advantage has to outweigh the side effects, for me the side effects were far worse than the asthma flare-up.
I don't want to dish on the drug since it seems to help some people but I think they downplay the side effects entirely too much when the prescribe it; you don't see them all until you fill the prescription and start reading. Yikes.

I have been taking Advair for about 4 months. I have a lot of sinus drainage,so when it's bad I use Advair 2x a day so I don't end up getting sick. However, this last time I ended up getting an earache. I was wondering if that was related to the drug. Before the ear pain I had a sore throat for about a week and sinus drainage. If I leaned to one side or layed on one side I would have pain on that side of my throat and ear then if I switched sides the other side would be sore. Finally it stayed in one ear and I am going to see my Doc tom. I don't usually get ear infections. I wondered if anyone else experienced increased ear pain. It's almost like instead of drainig it just stayed up in my throat and ears.

I seem to have hit the jackpot of side effect as I first had a rash on my torso, then terrible headache and earache, digestive upset and diarrhea. Had difficulty sleeping and was wide awake and full of anxiety. After 6 days I called the Dr. after reading about possible side effects online. I stopped taking the RX and started to feel better in only one day with rash gone and all effects as well altho' still a problem of some diarrhea.

I was diagnosed with angina two weeks ago..I was put on Lisinopril and Lopressor..After ONE week I cannot STOP coughing..it is so bad I now have an earache and pain in the back of my head and neck. I took a nitro pill and it did not help which rules out an angina attack..Doctor on called tonite told me to STOP the lisinopril which is most likely causing this cough. I've been up two nites from coughing. I am so tired. I can't sleep...I am in so much pain...how can I ever tell if I'm having an angina attack or heart attack. I will be seeing a cardiologist next week to discuss treatment......what's up with this medication????????

After I underwent the procedure for preparations for a dental crown, I experieinced bad headaches, earache and my many teeth would ache bably out of the blue. I took ultracet last night and my pain went away. However, about an hour after taking it, I felt dizzy, spacey, and then felt extreme sleepiness. Here it is, the next morning, I am at work, and I still feel a bit out of it. Glad it can relieve my pain but not sure if I want to experienced these side effects again.

Hi, Girls!
What a great site for us to share our pain and joy about YASMIN. I'm from Sydney, Australia and doctors here seem to be cluless about any sort of pill and their side-effects. I've been on B/C for 3 and a half years and 4 months ago my dotor told me to stop taking TRIPHEME and start YASMIN. TRIPHEME caused bloating, wieght gain and tiredness.
I was told that YASMIN was the "best B/C" because it contains a diruretic. The first three months was fantastic, no more bloating, i had all this energy and even after working all day i would come home and exercise. I looked and felt geat!
Then three weeks ago i started getting a bad earache which was accompanied by terrible headaches. my head felt like it was about to explode, there was so much pressure and i even lost some of my hearing. (Did you know that a side-effect of YASMIN is loss of hearing? CRAZY!!)
Anyways, the headaches made me feel so tired, which meant that i didn't feel like exercising. I have put on a few kilos and this has made me depressed. And i have no interst in sex at all! My poor Boyfriend!
I also get regular cramps in my stomach and legs, chest pains, heart pulputations and this terrible pain in my hips. I'm only 20 years old but feel like im 90! My periods are longer, heavier and i get really bad mood swings.
My best friend also started taking YASMIN the same time as me and has many days off due to migrains, vommitting and exhausion. She never felt this way before taking YASMIN.
I'm due to go into hospital tonight to have my ears darined of fluid and to have a cat-scan. I will find out if YASMIN is to blame for all my pain and if so i'm going off it immediatley! I think it's terrible that we all have to suffer like this. Doctors need to be more educated about the side-effects of B/C, especially pills like YASMIN. Arn't the side-effects of YASMIN
supposed to be rare and uncommon? It sounds like a high % of women have serious side-effects and that is dangerous.
Thanks for your stories!!
