Hey Rita!!
Thank you so much for your post!! That sounds very interesting and could be a solution for many of us. But I'm really afraid of perhaps again not finding the right doctor, who finally admits that our problems (I'm off Yasmin for over 1 year now, and still not 100% back to normal life......) are connected and brought on by Yasmin...
Exactly as you told, my gyn told me last year around july (had a blood test done there) that my hormone levels are "pretty" normal, though they were at the edge of what's normal (totally low)..... But I know, that this is already enough (hormones at the edge of being too low) to cause severe problems!!
I feel a little encouraged now to go and search again for an endocrinologist who could perhaps help me, too. I also have to mention, that I still didn't get my period. I had only one normal period around easter 2005 after getting off the pill!! So there definitely IS a connection between my still lasting symptoms (sometimes dizzyness, a little anxiety, a little weakness and so on, though everything much lighter as it was last year!!!) and my hormone levels, which are obviousely still messed up.
Did your doc tell anything further about that dehydration and the effects of that diuretic in Yasmin?? I would be so thankful to hear, if he thinks that this stuff could have caused my very heavy muscle weakness and muscle aching during the last year (has eased up but is STILL not completely gone!!).
Well I think that the dehydration brought on by that diuretic is on the other hand causing a heavy loss of vitamines and electrolytes. That could be an explanation for the fact, that in my case (I guess many other women would say the same) the symptoms slowly increased over the years and always got a little worse while I had some illness like a flu or such or while I was working out (because of the sweating)...
Over summer 2004 I got weaker and weaker and after a heavy cold with fever and sweating over 3 weeks in october 2004 i broke down completely with muscle aches, weakness and dizzyness and many more symptoms......
Sorry, if my posts always get that long, but I'm still searching for reasons of my severe illness I've been going through and which has lasted for over 8 months (that were only the hardest months... There were another 12 months where I didn't feel really fit and already had problems....) and is still just very slowly getting better...
God bless you all!!

Hi Hill!!
Don't worry too much about that fact. There will be much more ups and downs until your hormones are completely back in balance again!! I've been off Yasmin for about 1 YEAR now and in my case (I had taken that poison for over 5 YEARS!!) I fear it will take even longer than 1 year to be completely healthy again... I didn't get my period since easter 2005, so my hormones are still totally out of whack.
And every few weeks all of a sudden I feel worse (joints are aching, muscles are aching, I feel nauseous and a little bit dizzy) and then better again. It feels as if my hormones are running like a rollercoaster at the moment!! But I definitely know, that when I'm feeling worse again, it's just the hormones and the withdrawal effects of Yasmin and that's how I pull my self forward, looking forward to better weeks that surely are ahead again!!
But believe me, after reading every little new post on this site every day during the last year I know, that 6 weeks without Yasmin is not really long!! Most of the women felt already better there but then went up the hill again and had bloating and anxiety and so on. There is definitely a connection between your cycle and the symptoms you have mentioned.
I think after watching all the posts here I can say, that those women, who finally got their normal periods every few weeks again, feel better earlier than those like me, who still have problems with that!!
Especially the bloating (my ring, that I've been wearing for about 5 years now doesn't come off my finger since about August 2005, only now I can move it a bit easier, so it seems the bloating finally goes back step by step) is definitely brought on by that hormone imbalance after Yasmin!!
So just try to be patient and wait and see. I promise: Better times are ahead and after every setback there will be less symptoms and every month you will feel a little bit more normal!! Don't worry, I know what I'm talking about!!
All the best to you and every lady out there still in Yasmin recovery!! God bless you!!

to guest 18010:
I had been taking Yasmin for 5 years, too (from 2000 to 2005).
I also had only one normal period after stopping Yasmin in february 2005!! That was on easter 2005. Since then I didn't have another period again (nearly 1 year now!!).
I decided to give my body a little more time until about August 2006. If I then still have no normal period I will ask my gyn about other options to bring my hormones back in balance (unnecessary to mention, that I won't ever take any hormonal medicine over a long time again in my life after that nightmare!!!). But I think after being on a bcp, especially like Yasmin, for such a long time your body might need a little bit longer to learn again how to function without that chemicals.
Also I'm still not back to 100% healthy again, though so much better that a year before!! I think we just need much more patience to get through this hormonal chaos.
If you find any other solution for that no-period-problem, I would appreciate to hear from you!!
Best wishes!!

@lisa:
That sounds great!! I feel so happy for you (and your husband ;-) !! :) Isn't it, as if you just recognized, that your husband is a MAN and not just a PERSON... I remember that I felt this way, it was very strange somehow!
Well, now I remember, you've asked me about Agnus Castus a few posts before.
Yes, I had been taking that stuff for about half a year (from July to December 2005), but in my case I fear it hasn't helped as it should have. I still didn't get a period since easter 2005. Just the mental problems seemed to get easier to cope with under Agnus Castus. But I think this might be different between us both, because I see you have a normal period already again?
I think it's worth a try and should not do any harm to you, especially not like our "dear" Yasmin did....!
The only thing they say here in germany, that the libido might get a little bit down again under agnus castus (here it's also called "monk's pepper" because in former times they had given it to monks (so the history says) to help them being chaste...) In my case the first few months on it that didn't happen at all, but the last 2 months or so I slightly felt, that my libido went down a little bit... But this is also a thing that doesn't have to happen to you, too!!
So go on like this and I promise the sun will shine again someday, every day a little bit longer and more intensive, as you already notice!
Best wishes to you and everyone out there again!!

Dear Lisa,
a few posts ago I had already told about the blurred vision and thought you had found that.
Well, the blurry vision was so bad around January/February 2005, that I couldn't read anything, watch tv or work at my computer. It felt as if I looked through a milky window or such. Everything was like behind a "fog".
That has improved a lot, but it took time!! About 3 - 4 months AFTER Yasmin it slowly got better and I finally was able to work on my computer a few minutes a day, then a few hours and today I'm sitting here, working again the whole day long if I have to, read books and watch tv without big problems!!
But remember: IT DEFINITELY TAKES TIME!! And no one of us here can say, how long it will take for your symptoms to decrease cause every woman is different. I'd been taking this poison pill for 5 long years, so I think that I will have to be patient much longer than only one year... (Today I'm nearly 1 year off Yasmin and still not feeling 100% fit and healthy again!!).
The blurry vision comes back sometimes when I'm really nervous or under stress, but not as bad as it was last year at all. And remember: Every symptom brought on by Yasmin and the hormone chaos after getting off seems to get worse around ovulation and the time your period starts or SHOULD start (I still didn't have one since easter 2005 but in spite of that I realize more symptoms around 2 weeks a month.....).
And so it is with the libido thing. In my case my husband had to "ask" me, if we just could TRY it again, very slowly and careful (well, this time he had already been waiting for about 8 months, cause I wasn't fit enough at all to even just TRY...). I said yes (though I didn't really have the feeling, that I was ready for that thing again!!), and a few days ago I started this "thing" by myself, because I recognized, that my feelings came back and believe me, those were feelings I didn't have for many many years (you could say 5 years not really feeling alive under Yasmin......).
And I'm afraid, but 10 weeks off Yasmin is not really much... Sounds hard but that's a fact. At 10 weeks after Yasmin I still didn't feel, as if I would live any longer... But always remember: Every woman is different. No one can give you a time plan that is working 100% correctly in that case!!
So please give your body the time that it needs (and it can, I don't say MUST, but CAN last months!!) and everything will come back if you're just patient enough and believe in better times that are ahead!!
All the best to every Yasmin victim out there and stay strong and patient, there's light at the end of the tunnel!!!

PS: Sorry, that my posts always get that long...

Well, to the one with the link:
I don't care, what those "medical genies" have put into any list as "uncommon" or anything else.... I know what I've been going through the last 1 1/2 years (!!!) and even before (been taking this sh... for 5 long wasted years without being myself really!!!) and especially how many women also went through the worst torture of their lives and all of the were taking Yasmin.... Isn't that funny!??? :-(
I just can hope, that someday everything about that poison comes out and every woman in the world is warned about that stuff so that no one else will be done any harm by this Yasmin wonder pill...
A few days ago my mother sent me an article of a newspaper where they tell about a study done in America about the pill and testosterone levels in women. As result of the study the last sentence in this report is: "No wonder, that so many women have problems with bcps in this world"!!! I think there's not much more to say about.
Well, to Sherry and many other women asking me some questions within the last days:
My weight didn't go off or at least a little bit down anyway... I'm still dealing with the worst figure of my whole life, still not able to do anything against it because I'm still not as fit as I should or had to be to excercise or go for a walk. Just at the moment I'm feeling again like a water ton shortly before exploding... Some days that eases up a bit and then comes back, seems to change within the cycle. But I either still don't get my period (the last one was around easter 2005)...
Sherry: Do you already get your period regular again??
Well, BLURRY VISION:
YES!! I had and some days still have this symptom, too!! Never had this before taking Yasmin in my whole life!! Seems to get worse, when I'm under stress or getting nervous.
Feeling like your head was under water:
YES!! Definitely YES!! Somedays I felt like my head was pumped up with some cotton wool or water and I'm living with a total fog around me... That has eased up and only comes back, when I'M having the "bad days" of a month. So that also seems to be "normal"...
Supplements:
Yes, I'm taking Magnesium and kalium some days a week, and should be taking either Vitamin b komplex, but I'm not very keen on putting another medicine in my body since the horror with Yasmin so I hadn't found the courage to take those vitamins, too, until today. Well, even though I know that it really should help with the anxiety and tiredness I still have sometimes (well, very important to say again, that every symptom, that still comes up, is NOT AT ALL as heavy as it was in december/january 2004/2005!!!! That all comes up just in a very slight way!!).
And YES, in my case it's also every symptom getting less heavy after a very bad week, which comes up 2 times every month!! It's really getting less and less every month or sometimes every 2 months, but IT DOES!!!
Take care ladies, and stay strong!!! We're on the right way and everything will be ok again someday, I'm sure!!!
All the best and god's bless for a healthier and strong 2006!!

Hey Lisa!!
Don't worry!! I understand your pain, because I went EXACTLY through the same thing!!
I remember myself asking my husband a thousand times "Oh my god, I feel like it's all coming back, I'm so afraid everything could get as bad as it was months ago..." and so on. And that happened around the same state as you are now!! And I also remember my mum and my husband always telling me "It won't come back, everything will be better again in a few days, it's just your hormonal imbalance." And I was so thankful for their words!!
And the best of all: They were right !! Evertime I was nearly about to despair (and that didn't happen only once during the very hard last year, but every few weeks!!), a few days further everything had gotten better again!!
It always helped me to remember, that it's all a hormonal thing and hormones are fluctuating over a month. And being on bcp for such a long time (during that time the hormones were constantly nearly on ONE level!) your body reacts to those natural hormone fluctuations more sensitive than before. Your system will gradually get used to that fluctuations again and you won't feel them in such a heavy way any longer!!
I'm 1 Year and 2 months without Yasmin now and still feel those fluctuations very often. But remember that I still didn't get my period again... (last one was on easter 2005.....). So I think in my case everything will be 100% back to normal and healthy again, when I'm finally getting my period.
I hope this helps and feel free to E-Mail me or post here again if you've got any further questions or jus need some pep talk!! I know how important that is, I needed it the same way one year ago!!!
Best wishes, god's bless and keep looking forward to better times Lisa, as hard as it may seem on some days!!!
