I was prescribed Lisinopril for pre-hypertension at 10 mg a day. I've only taken it for 2 days and have felt so sluggish and tired but revved up on the inside at the same time. Had a headache too last night and blurry vision. It does work in lowering the BP though. Last night I felt as if I couldn't take deep breaths to relax myself and then I started having shaking chills and tingling in the hands and feet. Thought I was having a panic attack so I took my clonazepam. Then I felt like I'd have to throw up or go to the bathroom to get relief. The clonazepam kicked in after about an hour and knocked me out, but I still woke up a few hours later still feeling extremely anxious even though the clonazepam was still in my system (I take it twice a day for panic attacks) along with Lexapro for depression/generalized anxiety. I'm refusing to take any more of this drug. I will lose weight and exercise and eat healthy just to avoid this drug.

Hi there... I have just found this site and I'm very grateful to everyone who has taken the time to sit down and tell us their story mine is very similar. BELIEAVE me I feel like I am pushing my family away and I'm losing my relationship with the one person who used to make me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world.
I'm a 40 yr female have or maybe had a great job that I loved... On April 12 I noticed a small red rash on my lower right leg no big deal went to the Dr. gave me some cream and sent me home well I went to work and by the afternoon things just seem to get bad my legs began to swell and little blisters started to pop up so I went to the E.R. they had no Idea what was wrong with me got me an appointment to see a skin DR. so I went home but the pain from the swelling was so bad I could not walk any longer went back to the E.R. they gave me some pain meds and called in some other DR. things had gone from bad to worse my feet had gotten to big I could not put on shoes and I had bruised completely across the bottoms of my feet they put me on 30mg of PRED. and it seem to be under control sent me home after 3 day in the hospital things were good for about a day or so I thought I would go back to work well that was not a very good idea.... My sister had to come and take me back to the ER where they did 2 biopsies and still have no idea what is wrong with me. so now they put me on 60mg of PRED the rash has gone, lots of scaring on my feet because of the blisters once they broke and dried out but I can live with that....
It's the side effects that they don’t tell you about,
MOON FACE I can't look at myself cause really that’s not me anymore,
WEIGHT GAIN I have always been thick but I can't handle the extra 30lbs I've gained,
MOOD SWINGS are unbearable,
PAINFUL JOINTS, CAMEL HUMP, BLOODY NOSE, BRUSING, SORE TEETH/GUMS, DRY EYES, FAITIGE, and worsted of all
I don’t have a support systems in my life so I'm fighting this by myself everyday, I have 3 kids that I have tried to explain all this to but they don't get it and well my boyfriend he tells me he understands that its the meds pushing him away but if I can't figure away to control this I will lose every thing including my job. I cant even get the energy together half the time to make it up and down the stairs which also comes with the pain of just trying to lift each leg up to climb the stairs, I also have the camel hump which I find very painful, The acne and the hair growth that I have to get wax off once a month cause I feel like a man I feel like a loser and as of the last couple of days I just want to give up I am now down to 20mg per day but I find that I am feeling so sick I cant think straight I hope and pray for each and every person out there that has to take this MED that you get better and I do hope that my symptoms wont come back. Thanks for being here and I’m glad I found this site. I know now that I’m not losing my mind completely. Elizabeth.

I recently discovered that my Yasmin birthcontrol could be what is making me feel anxious and depressed lately. It comes in bursts one or more times a day where I feel lots of axiety, depressed and thoughts that I cant live like this anymore. I have stopped taking it and was wondering if anyone knew anything that could help me to relax when ever I start feeling out of control. I'm hoping to get it all out of my system soon and start feeling back to normal again. I'm tired of feeling scaired and sad and anxious. Any one else feel the same way? Any success stories from stopping the pill and how soon did you start feeling good again?

I began using Nuvaring three months ago after having a baby in March. Two months ago, I began having acid reflux episodes so intense it took me to the ER, Urgent Care twice, my doctor, a gallbladder scan, a GI specialist and almost (the next step, if I need it) an upper endoscopy.

I am a 29 year old female with no other health problems. I have never had acid reflux before. I drink and smoke occasionally. I eat healthy 90% of the time.

I took out my Nuvaring for my cycle yesterday and today I have felt much better. No burning in my stomach, no belching. No acid reflux symptoms at all.

It may be related or it may not, but the timing is suspicious. I will not be using Nuvaring again. I'll update you if my symptoms return.

Lupron is terrible! I was given lupron after my lap which discovered endometriosis. I had my second injection last week. My pelvic pain is still here and now the Lupron side effects are killing me. I have insomnia, restlessness, bad mood swings, back hurts all the time, fatigue all the time, depression, headaches, and awful HOT FLASHES. I was not given other options but to take this poison. If I had done my research I would have said hell no to Lupron. It's all about the money...Dr's and pharmacy companies are making the big bucks while most of us suffer. Oh yes, and my blood pressure, which is normally low (110/60) is now up to 150/100. I'm not thinking this is too great for my health. And another sad thing is that the long term effects are not really known. I WILL NOT take another injection. I would rather take my regular endo pain over this in a heartbeat. Don't let them fool you.......Lupron is a VERY BAD thing. Anyone who is thinking about....do you research and think long and hard . Is it worth it? I don't think so...

I had abdominal surgery without knoweledge of a clotting disorder and ended up with portal vein thrombosis. Ive been on coumadin for 2 months and despite the fact that I eat healthy and consistently, and am extremely fitness-oriented, this medicine has been just awful. I'm making my way down the list of side-effects!
nausea, abdominal cramping, fever, chills, spontaneous numbness in fingers and toes, purple discoloration in skin, fatigue and weakness, reflux, vomiting blood which landed me in the hospital for 3 days, a red rash all over the face, blurred vision and horribly dry eyes, slight jaundice, memory lapse, difficulty focusing.....and hair loss.
i really though I was making this all up in my mind so I am so relieved to see I'm not imagining these symptoms!

I have been using Lisinopril for about 2 years. I have some patches of TOTAL hair loss. One side behind and over my ear is about the size of a golfball (round) and the other side is only about the size of a quarter. I've also noticed other small round thinning area. One other area of my body is completely void of hair in the same quarter round size.

I've been taking everything imaginable to boost my immune system and it isn't changing. I eat healthy and I'm NEVER sick. That's what makes me think my immune system is fine... or at least ok.

Anyone else having these symptoms? Maybe it's time to change BP meds. It isn't really dropping mine much anyway.

I started taking lisinopril in June, I have been going back and forth with problems but not once was I told it possibly was the lisinopril, tests upon tests upon tests! My complaints are severe fatique, I would walk about 20 feet and feel like I walked 10 miles, it seems any old injuries I have ever had have come back and are so sore and sensitive I can barely stand it, even to brush my hair is so painful, at first i thought it was the spirlactone/hydroclothorizide I was taking ,now I think it is probably the lisinopril, I have the cough, not real severe but it is there off and on, I have been gaining weight, 3 to 4 pounds everytime I go back to the doc. hands going numb, I try to eat healthy and to chew an apple fatiqued me so much I couldn't stand it, I've been telling my doctor all this stuff and he just keeps ordering more tests and bloodwork, I'm still waiting for the results of my last bloodwork where he took me off my meds for 3 days, he suspects something wrong with my kidneys, this is very frightening, they are also saying I may be diabetic and there is no history in our family either. I still can't believe the extreme fatique and weakness, when I get up after sitting my feet and back are so painful it is pathetic, now my knees are starting to hurt too! I've had ankle problems and back injuries years ago, but the pain is so severe, it's like it just happened, I'm beside myself, I will definetly be talking to the doctor about this!! Thanks to everyone for posting this information, I would have had no idea that the lisinopril could cause all these problems, I stopped taking the spirolactone and hydro, but now am wondering if this was any of the problem at all.I also had the cramping in my legs, neck, head, still i thought it was the other drug, boy I hope I can get answers, they started me at 10 and now I'm taking 30's the doc said if it doesn't take care of the b/p the dosage can go up to 85 "so there is lots of room to work with"......... I don't think so!!!! I also am very sensitive to cold or heat, man I'm a wreck!!! I went to the doctor to feel better!!!

hi, i used to have the same anxiety when i was on yasmin,i was convinced that i had something terrible and that i was going to die. i went to my doctors and had a complet check up and everything was fine. if i start to worry now i try to think positively and keep myself busy. do you have a healthy lifestyle? if not, try to eat healthy foods (organic if posible to avoid artificial hormones in meat etc) take a good vitamin supplement and excercise, the fitter you are the more confidence you will have in your body.it works i promise! please keep telling yourself when you get worried that you are fine and just keep reassuring yourself hopefully your mind will pick up this new way of thinking and will not keep drifting back to the negative patterns. i hope some of that helps you.

Yes, the Clonazepam stops the panic, but it is NOT good for the general anxiety...it basically just knocks me out (very tired, weak, sick feeling). I am now hiking with my dog every day to burn it off by suggestion of my doctor. As I start walking I feel so weak sometimes I am afraid I will not make it back to the house, HOWEVER as I continue to walk the feeling eventually goes away (I carry my cell phone for security..although I really know I will not need to use it)! The more I walk, the better I feel! I have also found that no matter how deathly sick I feel, if I can just GET OUT OF BED, the feelings eventually go away throughout the day. I avoid all negative influences (movies, news, negative people) and spend a lot of time at church working on building my faith...it has helped me survive all this.

I am now on day 9 of my cycle and my recent "spell" seems to be over. I am 28 years old and this was my first experience with BCP. I never had ANY health problems before. Good news is, my test results have all come back.... my pap smear, blood work, and urine work all came back NORMAL. (I had a year of abnormal pap tests also. I had a yeast infection about every week!) It took a YEAR to get everything to come back clear again. I am not taking any medication regularly at this time.

The Vitamin B Complex does make me a little jumpy, but I have found I can work it off through some kind of cardiovascular exercise. In general I am feeling MUCH better. Just start out slowly every day, eat healthy food (no caffeine/alcohol, I carry apples, celery, and peanut butter with me everywhere), and KEEP MOVING. I also have some Valerian capsules and tea. "Celestial Seasonings" makes a tea called "Sleepytime" which has Valerian in it....seems to work pretty well.

All in all, my faith, my fellow women on this site, and a supportive husband has helped me through this disaster. It will only make you stronger in the end. God bless Medications.com for having this site! I feel it saved my life. I am praying for all of you...HANG IN THERE.

Hi ladies, Lisa, 2girlsmom, Sherry, and everyone else!

GOOD NEWS from Silke:

I FINALLY GOT MY FIRST NORMAL PERIOD after stopping Yasmin in February 2005!!!!! It's taken me the whole of 1,5 YEARS to get here where I'm now!!! I really was about to think I'm already menopausal in the age of 31.... And I'm so proud that I stood this 2,5 years lasting Yasmin-agony without any medication or antidepressant or anything else...

So ladies, my story is the proof:

Please give your body the time it needs after stopping Yasmin to get back its own balance!! Your body can heal ITSELF; if you were healthy before Yasmin you also WILL be AFTER Yasmin, all it needs is time and VERY MUCH patience!!!!!

I refused to do anything to my body after the nightmare with Yasmin, my gyn told me last year, that he could give me "something" to get my period and I REFUSED to take that stuff!! And I'm so glad, I did!!! God knows what this stuff perhaps would have caused again to my hormone balance....

I feel so happy and delighted ladies, I can't tell.... Well, I got a little cramping, I feel nauseous, got a little headache and a little dizzy, well, just normal things during your period, and nevertheless feel HAPPY!!!!

My weight is still going down month by month without working out more than before or eating less... My whole system is healing itself, I felt it and now I also can SEE it!! :)

So again this goes out to every Yasmin victim:

Get OFF that stuff, as fast as you can, midpack or not, throw it away!! And then be patient and WAIT for better times. Take a little magnesium and/or Vitamin B to help your body, drink lots of water and eat healthy. That has been my plan for the last 1,5 years and it helped!!!

The hair loss after Yasmin is completely normal!!!! That happens due to the hormonal changes you're going through. That even happens to some women after pregnancy!! And taking the pill is something like a "false pregnancy"!!!

After getting off the pill I also had dizziness, nausea, and many other things, but I always kept in mind: It's just the hormones trying to get back in balance; every few weeks those symptoms got worse and then better again (well, always around ovulation and then again around the time my period SHOULD have started) and BINGO: that's what it was!!!

Ladies, that was a very hard time for me, as you know if you've been reading all of my posts since 2005 and now I'm back again!! Sometimes I thought, I couldn't bare all that anymore and nearly was about to give up my life, I swear!! Trying to put me on antidepressants in January 2005 just made it worse and I'm so glad now, that I stopped taking that stuff after one week and never touched it again!!

In my worst times I only had some valerian with me, which isn't knocking out totally out but just calms down a bit. And it worked!! And since around May 2005 I even didn't take valerian again.

Ladies, YOU CAN GET OVER THAT agony by yourself, even if it needs a lot of power. Believe me: I KNOW it!!!

Best wishes to you all and god's bless!!!

Silke

I have had asthma and allergies since I was born. I am 38. I have been on medication since I could remember. I always took Tedril and inhalers as a child. When I was 15 they put me on Prednisone for a lung infection. I was taking 90mg perday and this was almost 100% of my body weight. I got really fat and my family didn't recognize me, had skin and bone aching, really bad acne on face and back, hair on my face, ravinous appetite, the list goes on. I was so depressed, I was suicidal. I swore to myself that I would never take another medication that contained a steroid. I went away to Georgia to school. I changed my diet and ate fruit, grains, nuts and seeds only. I was off all medication for the 1st time in my life. After living away from home for 8 years or so and after living in Florida for 2 years I returned to NJ permanently. I had been visiting home every so often to visit family. I noticed when I came home to NJ that I would always get sick with asthma symptoms, but brushed it off. I was still eating the same...fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I now have been home to NJ for 3 weeks. I took the train and noticed when I got off the train in Virginia and drove to NJ I got asthma systems worse and worse as I approached NJ. When I got home I was so depressed because I realized that the NJ climate has everything to do with my asthma. I realize it is also my diet and I have to stay off animal products and dairy because when i eat these things in georgia or florida I get a flair up. It is both things. I am back on singulair 10mg, albuterol and allegra D, because I don't know what else to do. I can't breathe if I don't take it. I am miserable and can't breathe without the meds. I have been taking it for 3 wks. I feel great on it...but I know it has its side affects and have to get off it. I eat healthy, work out and hate all drugs. I can only work out if I am on singulair. I know if I move back to Florida and continue my healthy life style that I can get off the meds. But, my family will not be there. This should be a no brainer for me....but its not. Consider moving out of the tristate area.

I have been taking Diovan for 9 Months and have experienced several side effects that i was not aware of that were caused from Diovan. Number one weight gain 25lbs in 9 months,Lower back pain, dry eyes and some hair loss. I have contacted my doctor today and had blood tests for possible liver damage. I will get the results in two days. I am changing medications. I am looking for a natural way to lower my blood pressure maybe through diet and exercise. I exercise 3 to 4 days a week and i eat healthy but continue to gain 2to3 lbs a month. Who knows the souluion? I just want to be free of medication!!

i've been on yasmin for about a month and a half (short time i know), but i've been noticing emotional and physical peculiarities already. i have never been on the pill before. My 3 week mark of taking it coincided with the beginning of my second semester at college, so i thought that may have contributed to this depression i'm feeling. i feel constantly anxious about things i could handle fine last just last semester. i have lost all appetite, but force myself to eat healthy food when i do eat and STILL i have gained about 10 pounds since the start of BC. does anyone else experience STABBING abdominal pains after eating? about 10 minutes after eating anything, my stomache starts cramping and i have to lay still in the fetal position to make it subside. my boobs have also grown at least half a cup size and hurt ALL THE TIME. i had no idea this could happen. It could just be paranoia, but i seem to be losing more hairs than normal in the shower and on my pillowcase.

i plan on switching to ortho tri-cyclin as soon as possible. i dont want to deal with this trial drug.

I have been on Yasmin for almost three years. At first it was a miracle. I lost weight, my skin cleared up, and I was sexually active so my fear of pregnancy was lower...fast forward to now...I am not in a committed relationship and if I were I would have a very unhappy partner...NO SEX DRIVE...I am nearing 30 and I am supposed to be at the top of my game...nada. My skin is still pretty good, but I feel bloated all the time...I have gained back the 10 pounds I lost. I workout 5-6 times a week and eat healthy. After three months of being heavier than I could handle I started with a trainer. I have worked so hard and still holding on to this bloat and round feeling. My attitude is lazy...not towards work but towards social...dating, friends...all I do is work, workout (not showing) and watch tv. I do not have motivation for men because I am not even sexually interested...and the emotional would be overwhelming because I do not have any patience for that either. I want my old self back...and after reading all the side effects from coming off the pill I am even nervous to do that. Will I break out, will I gain even more weight...and now I am reading about heart palpitations...and leg cramps (which I have been having lately but only after I have had a drink). Please give me some words of encouragement for throwing out yasmin after this last packet. Is life really better without yasmin or will I be in the same place only with acne???

Thank you all for all your posts. They help me feel like I am not alone in all this junk. I have been on Prednisone since mid July when I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis. Even with all the side effects, primarily the weight gain and bloating, I feel better than I did in June. I could hardly walk. My sleeping is actually better now than it was with the pain of DM, and I have always been hypoglycemic so the elevation in blood sugar has helped me.

With that said, I have always been an extremely healthy and active person so the weight gain is killing me. I also prefer to be holistic. My biggest fear has always been long term medication, but here I am. My pred. level was just increased 2 weeks ago to 60mg / day. Within one week my face has become very round, and I look 4 months pregnant. I am very hopeful that someone will find that miracle diet/exercise regime to help balance this side effect. I work out at least 6 days per week. I eat healthy, but have recently gone back to a yeast & sugar free diet. All this with no success. I just started taking Methotrexate 2 weeks ago so I hope maybe it will give me the success Liz has seen in that area.

Other side effects: I am very happy to have my energy level back, but my strength isn't back so I get very frustrated and irritable. I have issues with blurred vision. And I have trouble concentrating. My thoughts often wonder while I am in conversation.

I hold you all in my prayers and hope that you will find ease as you go through this challenge. If we can all stay positive we'll get through it.

Best Wishes,
Elizabeth

YASMIN AND HAIR LOSS???

Hi,
It has been 7 months since I stopped taking yasmin, and I am still losing alot of my hair everyday. I was on yasmin for a year when I realised that I was losing my hair.I had a full & healthy head of hair before starting Yasmin. I contacted my Gynie and he suggested I stop the pill and see if my hair starts to grow back.
But it has been 7 months and still no improvement. How long does the yasmin (hormones) stay in the body after you stop taking it? I am a very active person,I always eat healthy(so I know that it not diet related).
I am really depressed about this as I am only 27 yrs old. I wish that I had never taken Yasmin.
If anyone has the same symptoms, please post it.

I am 48 yrs old, invery good health, very active in sports, I run 3 times a week, exercise, and eat healthy. I have been on Zorcor for 2years now. I have been experiencing muscle pain in between my left shoulder and elbow for about 6 months now. I have gone to my doctor and he has treated it as bercitus. He percribed physical theropy treatment... a month has gone by and no changes. So I tried a chiropractor, it's been 2 weeks and no changes... so that promted me to check the internet for possible side effects and I came across this website....and I can't believe all the emails I'm reading on the side effects other people are experiencing! I also am experiencing other side effects that I thought were not related and now I believe they are, AFTER READING THIS! Beside the muscle pain in my upper arm , I am experiencing:::: hair loss, leg cramps, memory loss, ability to communicate, pronounce words, forgetting, depression, blurred vision, hot flashes(thought that was because of menopause! and could very well be!) I take 40 mg a day, it the evening. IS IT OK TO JUST STOP TAKING THIS DRUG SINCE I'VE BEEN ON IT FOR OVER 2 YEARS?

I've been taking Advair for about 18 months - 2 years, and during that time I've been struggling with weight gain and couldn't figure out why (I eat healthy-vegetarian & I work out 4-5 days a week). At first, I was able to control it by eating less & working out more, but I've gained 10 pounds in the last 6 months or so, and I'm finding it impossible to lose the weight!!!

I was thinking that it could be due to taking Lexapro for anxiety, but now, after reading this website, I'm wondering if my anxiety could be caused by the Advair! I never had anxiety until a year ago.

Thank you to all of those who have posted to this website. After two years on Yasmin, I kept attributing heart fluttering (started six months ago), horrible mood swings (past three months), weight gain (noticed three months ago), and of course, horrible symptoms of PMS (three months), not to mention the anxiety attacks. Of course, like everyone else, I didn't put it all together until today.

I started looking back to see when all these "things" started happening, and realized I was not taking any other medication besides Yasmin. Heart - the doctor said the EKG didn't show anything, but recommended a stress test, though the sudden "smothering" feelings kept on, anxiety attacks began (nothing changed in my life to bring on any anxiety, and in fact, my life has never been better professionally or personally), severe headaches on the third week, and then a noticeable weight gain (at least to me, as I work out all the time and eat healthy and could not figure out what it was). Breast size increased some, not enough to go up a size, but enough to notice my bra fitting tighter and not because of any weight lifting.

I am about to call my doctor and tell his nurse and get off these pills. I am miserable and so moody and angry all the time, for no reason. I felt like I lost my old self the past few months. Sex drive is diminished since being on Yasmin.

Does anyone know how quickly the weight comes off after stopping these pills or hormones? I have always been thin and these pills have almost forced me to invest in a new wardrobe.

Thank goodness I am not going crazy.
