I have had Hashi now since 2000, i got it when I was still in high school. They though that was rare that this would occur at such a young age. No one in my family had it, well not quite yet. I was the first to get diagnosed. My gyn mentioned that there is a link between autoimmune and preeclampsia. I had a terrible preg. I take synthroid now well the generic. And I do not feel much better at all. But people who use Armour should be careful. My endocrinologist strongly disapproved to this. It is Pig tyroid. This is from a site "The prevailing opinion is that everyone converts all the T4 needed into T3 automatically, and that drugs such as Armour and Thyrolar are outdated and old-fashioned at best." Also does not mention much on Hasimoto patients like myself. I would like to try it though to feel better. The side effects are higher as well. Esp long term.
Unfortantly, what works for one, does not always work for another person. So though some have problems with there synthroid others do not. Also it takes a while for you to notice a difference with this. IF you take it regularly at the same time and follow instructions on eating as well as not take it with vitC then you should be experiencing something. If not then you really need to get a new endocrinologist. Regular doctors are not made to deal with these issues, though they try, you need to see a specialist. Just remember that you know how you feel and if Synthroid is not working for out then change.

I had what a nurse called as a hypertension crisis with a 220/130 bp. I went to the ER in an ambulance. After trying me on several meds over a short period of a few days, I am now on Toprol XL 50 mg. and cardizem LA 180 mg. I have only been on Toprol for 1 day and I already have leg muscle weakness and feel a sense of depression that I never have. I am also dizzy and have some shortness of breath. The doctor says that my heart is strong and that all my blood work was great. I am just worried that it won't stay that way. I have an alternative medicine physician that I will be talking to and looking for safer alternatives. Does anyone know if only 5 days on bp medicine and then weaning myself off will hurt me?

HI! I actually am going to start Yasmin this Sunday, so I have be researching people's side effects. I am mostly concerned about nausea and vomitting and how I can reduce the chances of these.
I have actually had alot of the things you guys experience already, lol! I think alot of it is hormone related and I believe my hormones are pretty screwed up naturally, so hopefully this will even it out. I think a lot of people are not used to their body chemistry being an issue and the pill gives them enough hormones that it gives them their first glimps at the fact that they have to start taking vitamins, eatting a variety of foods, drinking tons of water, breathing better, having a routine, etc.

I'm going through my second batch of re-occurring hives! 13 years ago, in high school, I had them all over my body everyday for 3 years! The many specialists, tests, diets & 31 different medications I tried, didn't help. One day, the hives just disappeared. After 10 years with no hives, they came back around just as massive and strong as before. I've had them daily for 10 months. I refused to take any steroids, until I ended up in the ER because my tounge was swollen and I couldn't breathe. I had to take the Prednisone. After 6 months of feeling completely crazy and gaining so much weight, I just stopped. Now, I'm on multiple doeses of prescreption anti-histamines.
During the 6 months I was on the Prednisone, I gained 38 lbs. I was still maintaining my workout routine, but felt like I was eatting for a whole family! I've been off of the steroids for a little over 4 months. My workout consists of one hour cardio/aerobic workouts, 5-6 times a week. Additionally, due to new food allergies, my diet is limited to meat, selected vegtables/fruits and limited dairy intake. I can not eat anything with flour/wheat & grains or chocolate. Plus, I'm on my 4th month of Phentremine (prescription weight loss medication). Even with all of this, I have only lost 18 lbs. (Everyone I know who has taken a prescription weight loss medication lost approx. 35 lbs in 3 months.) Is it because of the Prednisone that it's taking so much longer to loose the weight? How long will it take and does anyone know of anything else I can do to speed up this process?

Was on 20mg for 7 days, and then supposed to be on 10mg for 7 days to decrease inflammation in my sinuses. I am quitting today day 12. Prior to going on Prednisone, I had just lost 10 lbs. Now I think I have gained it back, and I don't think that I was eatting alot, although I was hungry alot of the time. Hopefully this is water retention and bloating. Does anyone know how long it takes to have the weight come off after going off the drug?
What really make me mad is that I think the doctor prescribed this as a "catch-all" just in case med. I don't think it was indicated at all. My ailment was sudden loss of taste and smell following a flu-like virus. The reading that I have done about this, indicates to me that there is no known remedy for viral damage to the olfactory gland. Prednisone would be indicated for sinusitus or something of that nature, but for nerve damage, there will be either spontaneous regeneration.....or not. So now I can't smell or taste and I have to go on a diet besides. great. Please let me know if the weight is water retention.....given that I wasn't eatting like a pig.

i started taking Yaz about 2 months ago and ever since i started i have had no energy and all i want to do is eat. I have gained a couple pounds and am constantly bloated. When i get my period i have horrible cramps and don't feel like eating which i had not experienced until starting this pill. I have also been very snappy and angry at everyone and so school is miserable. i called my doctor and they won't let me try a different kind of birth control until ive been on yaz for 3 months. i do not recommend this pill.
