I am a 37 year old woman who was prescribed Avelox for acute bronchitis and sinusitus ( unconfirmed bacterial) . I ended up in the ER after taking only two doses with severe shortness of breath, pounding and fast heart beat, heaviness and tingling in my legs, feet, and hands, mental confusion, going from freezing cold to hot, tremors and more. The ER could not diagnose this and told me I was having a "Panic attack" even though I have no history whatsoever. I kept questioning if it may be an adverse reaction to the Avelox and they told me it was doubtful and that Avelox was widely prescribed and safe. After about six hours I got better but had vision problems, short-term memory loss, mood swings, depression, bizarre suicidal thoughts, joint pain, muscle pain, heart palpitations, and more for days afterward. I still have memory loss, mood swings, mild depression, and I have since had two more episodes of rapid heart beat, chest pain and shortness of breath for unknown reasons that come out of nowhere. I can't even walk up a flight of stairs or lightly exercise without major fatigue, chest tightness and pain, and shortness of breath. I have since been referred to a cardiologist after having an abnormal EKG at my primary care doctor. Last week I had an Echo Cardiogram and a heart CT scan among other tests and will find out the results on November 30th. This has been stressful and scary for my whole family. I fully blame and believe the Avelox adverse reaction is to blame. I did have a random "fluttering" in my heart for about a year prior to taking the Avelox but never experienced any trouble like fatigue, shortness of breath, or chest pain until after the Avelox. I am a single mom of a twelve year old and this has turned my life upside down. There have been at least two times that I wondered if I would ever make it home from the ER to see my precious child again. Hopefully whatever the heart trouble is will be minor and easily treated and I can get back to normal. I now warn everyone I know about the potential danger of Avelox and the Fluoroquinolone class of drugs. Take care all and thanks for listening.

Started Singulair 5/14/09. Within last week or so started having extreme pain in shoulders, hands (especially thumbs), wrists and hips. Put ti down to arthritis. Pain has been getting worse every day. Thought it was a food allergy so stopped eating fruit and have cut out all sugar. Yesterday realized that pain has increased so it wasn't the food. It suddenly dawned on me that it could be the Singulair. Stopped taking it last night and am already much better. Still some pain but not so excruciating.

About a month before my Dr. gave me Advair. After a few days on it, I went to bed and thought I was having a heart attack. Pain across my back and down my arms, up my neck and across my chest. This happened 2 nights in a row and decided to stop taking it. Called my MD and he said to stop it immediately. However, he thought it really might be my heart so I had an echo cardiogram and stress test. They said my heart was perfect. After 2 days off the med had no more trouble..

My take is that these "air" drugs are not for me. My MD is on vacation and won't be back until Wed. I will speak with him then. Hopefully by then all paij will be gone. Will post again to report results of stopping Singulair. Reading all these posts also made me realize my depression, irritability and crying has probably been a result of this drug.

I've been taking Advair for about 14months months, first 100/50 and then 250/50 to control my asthma and chronic bronchitis. During the past year I have actually lost 10lbs but over the past six months have experienced increasing symptoms/possible side effects from Advair: chest pains, leg pains/cramps, neasua, dizziness, acid reflux, trouble sleeping, memory issues and extreme muscle weakness. The leg cramps I've been able to control by taking vitamins and enzymes but the chest pains is worrying me. I was searching for possible answers to the mysterious chest pains and thought that Advair may be the culprit. Hence my entering this site. I'm going to chuck mine in the trashcan and go cold turkey Hopefully my symptoms will subside overtime and nothing damaged permanently.

Since my daughter second gardasil shot she has become tired all the time, she passed out on November 10 and was taken to the doctor. She orderd an EKG, chest xray and blood work. They called me that night and said she has an irregular slow heart beat ( which she has never had before). We went to a heart specialist the next day, he did an echo cardiogram and said things looked fine. If she passed out again, for me to call him and he sent us on our way. Tonight, while she was walking at work, it happend again. We went to E.R. and basically were told to follow up with her doctors on Monday. She is supposed to get the third shot in December, now i am afraid for her to get it. Im wondering if her suddenly getting the slow irregular heart beat, and passing out, irregular period, and headache is connected to the Gardasil. She is 17 and a senior in High School, she was planning on going to college, but now she is afraid to be alone, drive, or do anything that typical teenagers do.

On October 11, 2008 my 14 year old daughter began to complain of being dizzy, headache, faintness, nausea, vomiting and stated that her heart hurt each time she took a breath. This warranted her being admitted and transferred to a specialized children's hospital. They discovered an inexplicable enzyme (troponin) surrounding her heart muscle which only appears when someone is having a heart attack. All of her echo cardiograms were normal as well as her other blood levels. She was tested for all of the typical high school diseases as well as lupus, etc. She remained in the hospital until Thursday and is now exhibiting an irregular heartbeat pattern. After visiting with her pediatrician since her release, it is extremal possible that this is a side effect of the Gardisil shots that she had this past November - February.

In 2000 I began to have an intermittent atrial fib for which a cardiologist put me on Toprol XL 50mg 1 x day. It worked for several years although during that time I gained some 70 lbs which I attributed to the fact that I retired and am not getting enough exercise.

Now in the past few months I am having episodes of premature ventricular beats, premature atrial beats, supraventricular tachy, all kinds of garbage heart pattern and frequently feel lightheaded for days at a time and from time to time feel like I am going to faint. Energy level is zero...which I attributed to the weight gain. My chest feels thumpy a lot of the time and I've had the 24hr Holter (which proved the above patterns I mention). Now, a cardiologist wants me to have a 30 day event monitor and echo cardiogram.

After reading the postings on this board, I'm thinking I need to talk to my doctor about Toprol side effects which it appears that I might be developing!

Bless all of you for posting your problems! Perhaps together we can solve our medication problems!!

I took Toprol for 2 months and experienced depression, and severe anxiety. My doctor prescibed Xanax to relieve the anxiety, and it really helped. The problem was, I have never before taking this BP medication, ever, experienced either depression or anxiety. I, also, experienced chest pain very like a heart attack, but with no elivated BP, or dizziness. I weened myself off the Toprol, 4 months ago, and have experienced none of the above symptoms since! I have, since ceasing taking Toprol, taken a echo cardiogram with treadmill and my tests were not only normal, but I felt perfectly finely during the tests.

Thank you so much for this site. I thought I was crazy. I developed pneumonia, doctor prescribed LEVAQUIN. I have many of the same body aches that other have discribed. I can hardly lift my right arm, severe shoulder pain, I can hardly standup because of the pain in my knees, feel like swelling behind the knee. Very tired, I still have a lot of conjestion in my chest and I have finished my (10) days of LEVAQUIN. During this I have had Dexascan, EKG, (2) chest Xrays, Complete blood work, my EKG had some abnormalities,(HEART RATE WAS VERY HIGH)Another side effect? so I had to have ECHO-CARDIOGRAM,no results yet. I was convienced that I was getting rheumiod arthrithis. Hope we all recover soon.
