my son has been on lamictal for over ten years for the control of petit mals
he is also autistic and has associated learning difficulties he is on 750 mg a day and we seem to have reached this level due to the doctors uping his med when he was having behavior problems and now over a period of time he has been having anxiety. agretion .hostility. frenzied abnormal excited moods .loss of balance and coodination problems . museal problems in legs which is leading to his ability to walk.. poor gate nervousness . irritable.and these symptoms are not there all the time but have been rearing up on a more regular basis and after a lot of research on line and reading i have come to the conclusion that its time to remove him from this medication with medical supervision i must add the problem is that lamictal has only be on the market for about 16 years and there is not much information on long term use and also my son just gets on with his life the best way he can and can not tell you what is happening to himself due to his autisum but these problems have been going on now for some time and gets put down to behavior problems which is not the case i believe it is the lamictal that is doing this to him so he is coming off it the absences are a less problem then the side affects i think over ten years on lamictal is enough.

Hi. My eight year old daughter has been on singular for 6 months. She has had chronic stomach pains that she says feel like pressure. Her appetite is terrible. She always says she isn't hungry. I have to search for anything I think she will eat. She is very tall and very thin for her age. She grew an inch in the last year but gained no weight. First time her growth just stopped. No surprise as she doesn't want to eat. I took her to the doc several times and they think she has acid reflux and have given her 2 different acid eliminators ( which freak me out as well) Said she should see a gastroenterologist. We have appointment in March . I started reading this site and thought well maybe it's the singular. So I called her allergist and told them I was taking her off to see if that's why she has the stomach problems. They said I could since it wasn't a big trigger time(seasonal) and she wasn't sick with any cold or flu) She gets mild asthma when sick. Her allergist asthma doc thinks her stomach aches are related to the mucus dripping into her stomach. I have taken her off all meds to try to see if it could be the Singular. She also has been very tired and can't keep up in her dance classes. Her school teacher had to put her in the front of the class because she said she wasn't paying attention. She seems to lose it over anything that requires focus or attention. She also seems kind of depressed. She is worried that something is really wrong with her. This child used to eat normally and is gifted academically .Her tests results(taken while on the Singulair) went way down from last year. She was put in gifted pull out program from last year results but would have barley made it in this year based on her much lower scores. That does not make sense to me. Never has had attention or focus problems before. I will keep everyone posted. Does anyone know how long it might take to get this drug out of her system? Has anyone else had this kind of reaction to this drug? I also wonder whether she had reflux before but this made it worse? I had her blood tested for Celiac and general stuff and nothing showed up.I wanted to get the Singular out of her system before we see the G.I. doctor. anyway thanks, Elizabeth

I was originally put on Yasmin because of my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I was taking it for about 2-3 years and just stopped about a month and 1/2 ago and I am experiencing horrific headaches. They are sudden and on the left side behind my eye. There is no warning. They are like migraines but they are piercing pain not throbbing. Could the cessation of taking Yasmin be the cause? I hurt almost daily and I'm so sick of it. Also I haven't had a period yet.

I am 35 yrs. old and have been using inhaled steroids(albuterol, asmacort, vanceril, and Avair) for the past 16 years. I had noticed my eye vision deteriorating over the last 11 years. I was diagnost with and eye disease called kerataconis. i suspect a connection to my asthma medication use. I can only see effectivly with aid of special lense glasses, or hard contacts. I have since ceased use of Advair, and all inhalers , hoping to halt further progression, and the need for corneal trans plants. Too bad for me that Advair and the drug companies didnt fully do a better job warning the public 11 years ago when it could have made a difference.

OMG!!! I have PCOS and my doctor suggested this "GREAT NEW B/C that really seems to help those with PCOS" I was on yasmin last spring for about 5 months...hated all the nasty side effects, racng heart, anxiety, moodiness, you name it i had it including IBS. Finally in July I couldn't take any more and quit, with out letting my dr. know, because I wasn't ready to try something else.

My husband and I liked how it helped me to loose weight and the spontanity we could have (granted with 2 little kids in the house - things aren't all that spontaneous) without having to fumble with condoms and or inserts, but the 2 little pros were not worth the way I was feeling. I hated it and it wasn't me!

Well, seeing as how I had no period in Nov. and have tested negative on 4 hpt's I figured great, my body is back to it's usual - I better get back on the pill again to try and regulate my cycle before I get more ovarian cysts. So I refilled my yasmin, figuring ok I'll give it another shot...big mistake!!!!

Today is Wednesday, I started this pack on Sunday - I have only been on the damn things for 4 days and I feel like HELL!!! I have the racing heart again, my anxiety level is way up there (my poor husband had his head bitten off last night for no reason what so ever - I'm surprised he talked to me this morning!) and to top it all off now I have the diarhea and nausea again. This is so not worth it, I can't believe that I can feel this way after only 4 days! Actually, myhusband said to me this morning, "honey I don't think you should take those pills any more - they aren't good for you and make you someone else completely."

So I called my doc. to see what my options are - I can't start on anything else until I have my annual exam on 12/15 - there is no way I'm staying on the Yasmin until I see her again!!!!

I'm throwing that pack away as soon as I'm done typing this! God I was soo stupid for thinking it would be better the second time around....I'd rather deal with my PCOS than feel like I'm feeling now.

Thanks for letting me share! Please think twice before you take Yasmin.
