I never thought that my depression could be linked with my BCP until someone recently suggested it to me. I am simply amazed at the frequency that others have posted symptoms similar to mine. After a traumatic event in 2002, I dealt with depression and took an anti-depressant for about two years, but gradually came off of it. In the spring of 2005 I began taking BC to regulate my menstrual cycle. That summer I was back on anti-depressants. I have coped just fine until recently. I got married 11 months ago and I did not know that some anti-depressants have sexual side effects. (we waited until we were married) My psychiatrist decided to switch me to Wellbutrin. I may as well be taking nothing. Horrible depression. I plan on switching back to my original anti-depressant, but I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience. I can't pinpoint if my depression is being caused by the Loestrin 24 Fe or an ineffective anti-depressant. Maybe it is both. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have been on toprol for two weeks. I was on atenolol before that for about10 months. Does anyone get head pressure from this stuff. I have constant head pressure. I also get depression and very dry mouth makes it hard to swallow.
I want to go off. I am only on 25 mg once a day. Doctors act like they don't want people off meds. I only went on cause I started with anxiety a year ago and makes my blood pressure wacky but not to high. Like 140/85 I use to always have low blood pressure. I got to get off cause it's causing me anxiety with the side affects.

II have been on Statins for many years. Started with Zocor which caused two large muscle knots in my side. I talked to my cardiologist and was told it couldn’t be, as it would be more systemic. I asked him for a CPK check and he telephoned me and said get off of it at once. In the meantime I broke two ribs swinging a golf club. I was switched to at least three other Statins with the same results, muscle pain. I finally ended up on lipitor. My CPK was elevated, but my cardiologist said that the benefits of 10 mg. of Lipitor trumped the slight CPK elevation. All went well for a couple of years. During that time I participated in a Lipitor study and was monitored for approximately six weeks. Results were Ok until the dose was increased from 10 to 20 mg. I was immediately dropped from the study. Three weeks ago my cardiologist increased my Lipitor to 20 mg. and added co Q-10 300mg. It took four weeks until I developed severe muscle pain in my lower back and shoulders and neck. My doctor will not accept that Lipitor is the cause. I took myself off of it a week ago. I am now almost pain free. He appears to be avoiding communication with me. He also was one of the Dr. participating in the Lipitor study. I would hope that many MDs read this entire list of problems attributed to Lipitor.

With regard to the reported blood sugar elevation with Sarapin: I am a physician who has been performing injections with Sarapin for a few years. Many of my patients are diabetic yet I have never seen a blood sugar elevation from Sarapin. I can see two possible explanations: It is common to inject a corticosteroid along with Sarapin for a nerve block; the corticosteroid could easily have the effect mentioned and it is very unpredictable. None of my patients are on the old sulfonylurea blood sugar medicines. Metformin and the TZDs and newer meds keep blood sugar more uniform than sulfonylureas or insulin alone. Diabetics not on the newer classes of medicines might have blood sugar elevations from Sarapin.

My husband ,who is 89 years old and on several medications for his heart and blood pressure, and inhalers for breathing plus uses a nebulizer, has been taking singulair for 3 weeks and his blood pressure has been very high since, higher than his normal. Since singulair"s main ingredient is(montelukast) SODIUM could this be the cause of elevation of his blood pressure? I am very concerned. WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE. Thank you. Aurica ***

I took 14 days of 750mg of levaquin for a tooth problem. After about 10 days I developed spontaneous swelling in the achilles area. This was much more severe in the left leg and it was very difficult to walk. Ice and elevation did not ease the pain and stiffness. The left leg was noticibly more swelled and red than the right. I went to the docotors and was sent to a specialist. Since by this time I had been off the Levaquin for about a week, it did not occur to me to tell him that I had taken the drug. He put me in a boot to prevent further damage and the leg is slightly better. I checked out the web to see what can cause the swelling of the tendon, without an injury and found all the discussion regarding Levaquin. Bingo! Obviously this is what caused my problem since I had not done anything to injure the tendon. It seems that this is now going to be a lifelong problem for me. Has anyone ever fully recovered from this problem?

I have experienced 13 years of hell with Levothyroxine, which is pure sodium. Everything in the body from skin to internal organs are affected by shrinkage and shortening of muscle. My horror complaint - leg cramps, massive thoracic jerking and therefore no sleep. think of salt cod or an Egyptian mummy.
First, do not deal with a GP. Thyroid is very tricky and only an endocrinologist should be consulted.
Second, get tested at a Nuclear Medicine Department in your hospital. You may be making enough thyroxin. Partial organs DO compensate.
Third, sodium binds with blood serum. Blood enters muscles. Muscles CAN store sodium. My case.
If you can get away without taking thyroid meds you may find withdrawal unbelievably difficult. In a withdrawal situation, a larger amount is released into the blood stream. You will find your muscles steely rigid and unbendable. You may be pulled over.
You will need huge willpower and support. My withdrawal is now in its 8th month.
I use acupuncture by Chinese medicine methodology, resistance exercise several times a day. Get yourself rubber resistance bands and put hooks in your basement walls and ceiling. Pilates is excellent. Magnesium tablets high strength. 1000 mg is allowable but I've done twice that. Some diarrhea but basically one is too dried out for there to be a problem. From a good herbal store, get probiotics 30 million a day, Udo's Oil (Canadian), eat almonds - several hanmdfuls a day - I hate it but Lorazepam had to be used as a muscle relaxant for 6 weeks at the worst stage. Never discontinue these abruptly. Detox drops after a visit to a QUALIFIED Naturopath. First, Unda Numbers to detox liver and kidneys, then thyroid and lungs. Very effective but you may only tolerate shortish stints- 10 days. me anyway.
Eventually, the muscles feel caged but bulging. Then they start undulating dramatically and free up. But so far I've had to endure 6 of these session at about once a week. After which even more toxic stuff pours out. But it WILL end.
I am 63. I resent losing wellness for so long and it took a friend to tell me about a relative with leg cramps to get the connection. By the way, it was the naturopath that identified the cause NOT a doctor. Allopathy (Western medicine) believes all drugs leave you with tissue renewal every 4 months. But Chinese medicine, massage therapists, naturopaths, injury rehab (they use theraball) and reputable spas don't.
All of you are young. I hope I have helped in some way. All of you who ache, I think it is the tightening of the muscles. it is like enforced arthritis. Number 2911, I hope you read this. Your little son sounds just like my beginnings of my dreadful journey.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to those who have experienced severe side effects which they attribute to Lisinopril, but having reviewed them, I felt compelled to add my comments.
I am a 49-year-old male who has been taking 5 ml. of Lisinopril daily for nearly two years. I have never felt lethargic, even when I accidentally double-dosed myself. I have never had a dry cough, even though I have smoked for 30 years. I have mild occasional low back pain which is resolved through massage, stretching and occasional chiropractic treatment, and it has not worsened since I began taking the drug.
I have, however, noticed that my physical responses to stress and anxiety (flushing, sweating, etc.) are greatly reduced since I started on this drug, which leads me to believe it has had the desired effect of preventing an elevation of blood pressure during times of physical and emotional exertion.
Obviously, the drug is not for everyone, but for me it has been a great help without any negative side effects.

I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia 6 months ago. Started out with 10mg of prednisone and increased to 20mg. After 6 months I am down to 5mg more a result of fear of predisone effects than relief from pain and stiffness. My negatives have been 35 lb weight gain, difficulty sleeping for long periods of time, fatigue and just recently an unsatisfactory elevation in blood pressure. I am willing to "put-up" with discomfort and pain rather than take predisone. Anyone with PMR that has found alternative treatments to predisone please contact me. Would also like to interact with others who have PMR. thanks,

I am 46 years old. I first started taking Levothyrox 11 years ago during a pregnancy. Now I currently take 200 a day. I have been suffering chest pains. I also suffer bone pain. My hair has not grown in nearly 3 years. I am borderline diabetic and each day when I take the drug, I immediately sleep due to the immediate sugar elevation I feel.
Six months ago my femur broke. It seems due to a Vitamin D deficiency. Now I discover that a few of the nasty side effects that no one ever told me about is Vitamin D Deficiency and also Osteoporosis. Due to the strict bed rest that I have been on from my fractured femur, located near my pelvic, I have suffered muscle atrophy. I am too weak to even stand. So for 6 months now I have not even been able to leave my bed.
Now the only solution I feel in order to possibly save my life is to immediately discontinue the use of Levothyrox. My boyfriend is a little concerned for me doing this but I see no other way. Any feedback appreciated. Thank you.
