It's been 2 weeks now since I stopped taking this drug. All I can say is I have really good days and REALLY bad days. I have more bad than good.
When I mean bad, I mean I have days like I had when I First started taking this drug. I can't get out of bed hardly, my joints hurt so bad that I would just rather not move. My feet are still swollen and on the bad days they get so bad that I can't even wear my crocs., sandles, or slippers without design impressions being left on them. My hands hurt so bad that I just want to cry. My emotions are all over the map. My back hurts even worse than it has and thats not a good thing. I can't concentrate and I REALLY have to pay attention and write everything down so I don't forget, esp at work. My walking is getting harder and harder to do. I use my cane on a regular basis now. I had another EMG done because she my dr. didn't like the results of the last one... they came up with nothing. I pee like a racehorse. I always have to go and I don't have a kidney or bladder infection. (though this is why I was on it in the first place~ that has since cleared up). I can't sleep anymore. So I went from always tired to not tired.
I agree about the driving being scary. I almost lost control the other day because I lost my grip on the steering wheel. I got turned around and went the 2 blocks BACK to the house. This drug is soo Dangerous. It needs to be banned and taken off the market for good.
My hubby and I are looking for a lawyer now to see if they can do anything. I contacted the one lawyer on here that someone suggested and I never heard anything back. So I would assume that means they don't have the right to practice in Michigan~ that or they just blew me off.
My feet hurt so bad most of the time, I now use those scooters in the store(these are ENORMOUS grocery stores almost like a Super Wal-Mart) anyway I have little other choice.
Anyone elses hands and feet ice cold. Mine feel like they been to the artic circle without me and it was in the 90s.so now that its in the 40s its worse because now Im completely frozen.
Is anyone else having problems thinking straight>?Im having issues thinking straight, coming up with the right words etc. I even forget what Im talking about in the middle of a sentence.
I think it would be a good idea if we did do updates.
Good Luck to everyone! I hope that you all feel better.

Hello all, after reading all of your messages I am convinced now that the Lipitor is to blame on my symptoms as well. I began 10mg of Lipitor about 3 years ago and this past February was increased to 20mg, my cholestral readings was at 98 and now at 90. I also quit smoking in February. In April started to experience extreme pains in my arms and back, thought it was the mattress or pillows have replaced every pillow in the house, and have begun pricing mattresses. Have extreme bloating, gas and constipation. Went to the Drs. and was told its a reaction to quitting smoking as nicotine is a natural laxative. Sounds beleivable, never though of the Lipitor increase. Breast extremely tender and sore, went to the OB, had a mamograpghy everything fine, OB suggested researching Lipitor and bingo I'm a believer. Called cardiologist today and she has immeditaly lowered it to 10mg, and wants to see me in 3 weeks as a follow and possible wean off all together. I need to research the cholestral numbers and see how good or bad mine are at the moment. Again thanks everyone for taking the time and writing about your experiences and reading everyone elses. Good luck to all

Hi,
I have been on the NR for a little over a year. After hearing about the latest death and the 37 other lawsuits against the company, I started getting worried and want to discontinue the use. After reading everyone elses blogs, I realize I share similar symptons. For the past few months, I have had nausea, especially at night and very bad itching down there. I feel like my sex drive has gone down the tubes as well. I am not sure what else to use. The pills I have used in the past have given me breakthrough bleeding problems. I am 31 years old and don't want to start trying new pills at this stage. Hopefully in the next year my husband and I will become pregnant. What else is out there that we can use aside from condoms? Also, has anyone had problems trying to get pregnant after using the NR?

I get bronchitis when I use this product. I have had to resort to illegal methods of getting the older inhalers. I can't afford to be down sick for 2 weeks at a time because a government decides for me that my medicine is bad. I'm sorry, me breathing is more important then ANYONE elses opinion. Especially those without asthma who say HFA is exactly the same. It's not. I haven't been able to tell a diffrence between it and primitine mist. Both INFERIOR products.

I've been depress, and my thinking has been cloudy. I've been on my period heavy for about a week in a half, and I've had the ring in for two weeks. But I've been useing the ring for 4 months. I'm taking the ring out TONIGHT. Thank you Ladies for your help.

Dear Worried,
I know its comforting to know that there are similar cases out there. I was panicking and insecure before I found this web site and realised that I wasnt alone. I was using that pill for so long and I didnt realise the slow changes in me. It was when I read everyone elses side effects, I realised I could relate to them and it wasnt normal. I know its an effective way of contraception, not 100 % but its easier to be on the pill when your in a relationship. But when my boyfriend and I discussed it and realised it was messing with my body too much, we both agreed it might be better in the long run as we want children eventually and I have heard that being on the pill for too long can make it hard to conceive. So now we have to use a different method of contraception and I know it can be more risky but thats what we agreed on.
I hope your girlfriend knows shes not alone and it really might be worth considering going off or chaning that particular pill.
Take care and good luck again :0)

I took 20mg of lisinopril for 30 + days along with 5mg of norvasc which I have been taking over a year now. Upon starting lisinopril I noticed a weakness in my legs which was most bothersome. It felt like I was using someone elses legs.
I experienced a lack of coordination in my legs, cramps and a lack of muscle control. After 30 days I stopped taking the drug. Along with the above symptoms my urine became a dark rust color, I felt nauseaus, lightheaded and very tired.
Most of these symptoms ended after I stopped taking lisinopril
however to my dismay my leg function has not gotten any better and its been over three monts now that I stopped using Lisinopril.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check in I haven't read these posts in a while. I'm glad to see that everyone is starting to feel better. I wanted to let you know that I have come across 4 people that have gone through the hell we have and 3 of them were yasmin users one was ortho.
I am now officially 4 months post yasmin. I really feel great compared to what I was going through. Every now and then I get the numbing or a slight pain in my chest, but totally able to deal with it now that I know what it is.
I have been a bit more moody, but just figure it's the yasmin. As for my swelling it isn't every day any more, it comes and goes, I'd say that is still my biggest problem, but it seems to come more when it is hot out as opposed to just regular weather.
Also as for the weight gain, it's still a bit of a struggle to get it off. I feel a bit lighter (before I felt very sluggish and heavy) but I still haven't really lost any of the weight. Maybe about 2 pounds and I'm exercising like crazy.
Just hoping for the best.
How is everyone elses weight loss going? Just a reminder I gained 30 lbs the last month I was one it.
Thanks,
Hill

I am 24 years old and I have had suspicions that I had endometriosis since I was 16. In January of 2006, I had an operative laproscopy confirming my suspicions and found out that it was worse than we all thought. I had my first Lupron Injection the 9th of Feb. 2006 and I must say I think I am doing pretty well. My doctor has me on the ortho tri-cyclen lo birth control pill for"add-back therapy" to help with the night sweats, osteoperosis, etc. I have only had one case of night sweats. I have however, experienced and increase in my appetite. I am bloated and I have gained weight. I also have had hot flashes but I have always been a sweater. I was skeptical about the drug after reading everyone elses side effects but had no other choice if I wanted to preserve my ability to have babies. I am grateful that I have yet to experience the other side effects and I hope I never do. Ladies, everyone does not have a horrible experience with the drug. And if you are like I am and want to have children in the future you should, if recommended by your doctor, try this drug! These horrible side effects may not happen to you either. Good Luck!

I am on my third cycle and I am not taking this pill ever again! I deal very well with stress. I am a single mother, i went through an abusive relationship with my sons father, I have a high stress leval career...through all that I never felt like there was not a light at the end of the tunnel. All of a sudden I am depressed, I can't function, I can't stop crying....now that I have read every one elses comments about heart palpitations, and cramping-I have felt the same thing! I just never associated it to Yasmin. I feel sharp pains in my head that last for a few seconds, I have had several breakdowns and lost my temper easily with my son....if anyone is considering taking this DON'T. The depression pain is almost unbarable and NO ONE shoudl have to deal with this!

My story is a little different from everyone elses. I started noticing bald spots in my hair that went all the way down to the scalp. After being referred fom my normal doctor, I went to see a dermatalogist who gave me steriod injections in my scalp, it was painful. There after I began to notice indentions in my scalp and there hair did not grow back. I started with some balding and her fix was to give me these shots. I also receive no information on side effects but I know have a bunch of indentions in my scalp and one that is very, very deep. It feels like it is all the way to the bone. This is very scary, I only had one sesion of these injections and I agree that this is very irresponsible of the doctors to do this without knowing or disclosing possible side effects. I am now scared that these indentions will get even deeper still and never go away. No doctor I have seen has given me any answers! I am pissed off!!!

I have only been on Yasmin for 4 days and have felt totally nauseous, light headed and breathless. I have also had no appetite whatsoever, great way of loosing weight on a contraceptive pill, but this pill makes you feel like you have got your worse case of morning sickness! I definitely won't be taking day 5 after reading everyone elses comments! The contraceptive pill suks!. Give me back Logynon and a 3lb weight gain anyday.

I have been taking Singulair for about two weeks now (I am almost 50) and since I started taking it have experienced terrible pains in my bones of my legs, to the point that I can almost not walk. It is especially prevalent at night, which is when I take it (I was told to do that as it would make you "sleepy" - I haven't found that). Has anyone else experienced this type of pain when taking it? I can't tell if it is just a coincidence that this started for the first time at the same time and has progressed badly as I take it, or if it is really related to the Singulair. I would appreciate anyone elses comments on it. Thanks.

I am sorry to hear about everyone elses' story but I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has been negatively affected by this ridiculous drug. I too received the shot in my right buttock and shortly after noticed discoloration and a rather unattractive dimpling in that area. I too was never informed by the doctor or the nurse who administered the shot that these things could possibly happen to me otherwise I would never had agreed. I'm no doctor I expect the one I go to to look out for my best interests. I am seeking compensation from this doctor because vanity or not, I'm the one who has to live with this for the rest of my life.

Hey all,
Just to update those of you who want to know how long it takes for yasmin to completely flush out of your system. There is no real answer to that. Just like each persons reactions to yasmin cannot be compared to someone elses, the same is with detoxification. Some of you got better within days or weeks, and then there are those who still struggle after months.
I for one am now 3 months post yasmin. Whilst on the pill my reactions were relatively minor. However since I came off it i've been cursing the day I went on it. I mentioned on another post that initially I started to take it to regulate my period as I had an eating disorder.....like in not wanting to gain weight.
I was very advanced in recovery when I stopped yasmin and shoot..........i gained 8 lbs in water weight within 3 days. No period for 3 months thereafter and I keep being congratulated upon my pregnancy...lol...
You could imagine what this does to my ego and let alone recovery. I just slid back to all my old habits.
Also I'm still experiencing heart palp every night/low libido in bed and it deprives me from my sleep. So at night it's the palps, by day its the water weight so I have neither night nor day.
Whoever has any hesitations of starting this pill, true not all bodies are alike, but after seeing so many people suffer immeasurably, why become another victim when there are so many other options out there!
This forum is great ladies. At least I have where to vent my frustrations and I hope you all have a speedy recovery soon.
Me-at my wits end.
Take care,
Sherry

To all new readers of this site:

It seems that there is some 'discussion' lately over the magnitude of negative posts about Yasmin on this site. It has been my experience that it has been accessed by anyone either thinking of taking this pill, just started taking this pill or those whom have ended it recently. I agree that ALL medications have side effects and that ALL people react differently to medications/pills. HOWEVER, as Yasmin FAILS to list PSYCHOSIS, SEVERE ANXIETY/PANIC ATTACKS, SEVERE DEPRESSION, RAPID HEART RATE, and SUICIDAL THOUGHTS in its little book of 'possible side effects' then where else would you suggest people find out about them.

I trust everyone has enough brains to realise that their bodies react differently than everyone elses BUT as far as I'm concerned, if I had any clue this could 'possibly' have happened to me, then I could have spared myself the last 7 months of complete hell after taking this rubbish and getting through the 'after effects' once finishing it.

I'm happy that there are those out there who have had no negative side effects...thats wonderful. I myself thought Yasmin was fantastic for a year and a half until I suffered almost over night from ALL of the above (and have zero history of any of it). I dont tend to worry only of myself and what has worked for me, rather, I worry about all of those who could use my experience as a deterant, in doing so, save their mental health and that of their loved ones.

Sure, all pill's are different. None though are worth taking the risk.

The shame is, those who have suffered enormously simply for taking a BCP now need to 'justify' their reasoning for wanting to spread the word and look out for their fellow women.

I wish all those reading these posts luck in their pursuit of a safe and healthly birth control option, and a greater understanding of their dangers whilst doing so.

Take care.

I was taken off of synthyroid 15 months ago. I had 75% of my thyroid removed in 1999. I gained 24 lbs in 15 months. I don't know what this doctor was thinking. I was put on Levoxyl 2 weeks ago and can't stand the sick feeling in my stomach and the pains in my joints all over my body. If anyone has been on medication successfully without side effects please let me know what your taking. I felt like a big whiner until I saw that other people are feeling the same way. Does everyone elses doctor say that there are no side effects to this medicine and that it's not the medicine making you feel this way. Please e-mail me at Stormy5563@aol.com with any comments. I love to know that I'm not alone and losing my mind.

I was just researching about Celexa b/c I was on it a couple of years ago, and just wanted to see what everyone elses side effects were.

Being off of it, I had been switched to Lexapro. Just wanted you guys to know what my side effects were on Celexa. When I went on Celexa I was VERY depressed. Had no appetite. I went from being 130 to 112 lbs in a couple of weeks. I felt good about the weight loss but, my whole life was in an uproar. Anyway, my doctor had said that there was no weight gain with Celexa. So, I tried it. I remember the first week, I was very very nauseaus. I actually vomited from it. It caused me to have insomnia alot in the beginning. But, as for my mood, everyone saw a positive change. Weight came back, little by little but, I definately relate it to the med b/c I did not eat alot. When I told my dr. about the weight gain, he said it was next to impossible. I stayed on Celexa for about 2 yrs. Then Lexapro came out, supposed to be better. I hated Lexapro, always tired, more weight gain. I was on everything for 3 1/2 yrs. I am now 136 lbs. If it was not for the antidepressants, God knows where my life would be today. They really do help a person. But, they do not take away the problem. Just to let everyone know, at the same time I was on Celexa and Lexapro, I was also on Wellbutrin SR to help the weight gain.

Well, hope you find my experience helpful.

My mother was put on lipitor after surgery (heart stint). She complained of constant aching in her muscles along with an overall weak feeling. Later on my sister and I noticed that she seemed to be depressed all the time, her speech was slightly slurry, and at the time we had thought that it was caused by ill fitting dentures. She has since gotten her dentures fitted properly but her slurring has gotten so bad that it is very difficult to understand her and the doctors of course can find nothing wrong with her. She also has a difficult time swallowing. If this drug is the cause of all of her horrible side effects (and everyone elses) you would think that they would be taken off of the market, as the potential for being very dangerous is very real.

I would hate to see all of you read the side effects that just aspirin has. Most medications have possible side effects and the majority never see any of them when taking the prescribed meds. It's good to read and be aware but to swear them off based on someone elses experience, nah I think not. Thanks for the heads up!
