I just received my Patient Medical Alert card from the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. It is a wallet size card for me to carry with me that list drugs that have or possibly have severe side affects for people with CMT. Seeing MACROBID on it reminded me of my experience with it about 10 years ago.
I am very prone to UTIs. My GYN prescribed MACROBID. After only 1 pill, my right thumb went numb. It spread to my index finger and then my middle finger. I was scared and called my GYN who told me there was no way that the Macrobid was the cause. I didn't stop with that answer. I then called the drug store, where I purchased it from and spoke to the pharmacist. I explained what was happening. He also told me that the Macrobid couldn't be the problem. I didn't take his answer and asked him to please get the contra -indications list and read it. There, in fine print, was possible peripheral numbness that can lead to death. I had 4 small children at the time, so you can imagine my horror. He contacted the pharmaceutical company that makes MACROBID. They called me to record my side effect and told me to NEVER take it again, that I could die if I did. It took several weeks for the feeling to come back in my fingers and hand. They had told me it could have been permanent. I didn't know I had CMT then. And this little card didn't exist then. I am writing this to warn others. If you don't know what CMT is, go to ******. It is a neurological degenerative disease. I am affected worse in my hands. I have a postural tremor in both hands now.
I hope my story helps someone.

I have contacted an attorney in Delaware who is willing to pursue a possible class action suit. I explained my side effects from this drug and told him of the countless others that are suffering as well. He said if I was willing to do the "legwork" and gather up names of others who would like to join this suit, perhaps we could get a class action started. If anyone is interested please reply by contacting me at ***** Please be sure to type "Kenalog" as the subject and include your name, email address, and a description of your experience with Kenalog. I will than gather your responses and forward them to the attorney. He will than contact you individually, so please include a contact number. This will take some time. So please be patient, as you know these cases take time. I have spent 15 months trying to get some kind of help from various doctors, to no avail. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility.
Hope to hear from many of you. Thank You

Both my sons have bad allergies. Both were recently prescribed Singulair after other drugs were not very effective. My oldest, 12, started feeling "strange" and asked to be taken off Singulair. He was not himself on the soccer field or at school. Since we stopped the medication, he has returned to normal. My 8 year old had a much worse reaction. He has bad mood swings and tonight became suicidal. He was searching the kitchen for knives to stab himself. He had fits on the carpet beating himself and the floor until I got him a pillow to take his aggression. My wife notified our doctor and school counselor. We're stopping his Singulair immediately.

I am posting an email address for people that have stopped dispensing this drug and see the symptoms of the side effects disappear. Please tell all who have seen a change in their child or loved one to email this woman.I met with Dr.Sarah Sellers and other members from the FDA in Washington DC she is in charge of Safety Review in the office of Surveillance and Epidemiology. This is critical in the investigation into SINGULAIR .Everyone wants to help and this is how to begin. The email is sarah.sellers@fda.hhs.gov Our Congresswoman has requested the TV advertisement for SINGULAIR to be changed, they are stating mild side effects and that is not known to be true at this time.I am reaching out to all of you who have posted and that know anyone who has ,to please do this along with filing on ******.We have to work within the guidelines of the system, this will certainly help the investigation to be more accurate. My husband and I are in this to help all the families that have suffered so greatly, take this opportunity to help also.Thank You in advance Kate and David M.
