My son 10, has been on Singulair since he was 4 yrs old for Asthma and allergies. His last dose was 3/26/08. He has always been my emotional child, he is 2yrs older than this younger brother. Some of his side effects included headaches, stomaches, leg cramps, emotional breakdowns, major mood swings, crying outbursts over small situations, night sweats, lack of motivation, weight gain, ADHD, wishing he were dead and the list goes on. His younger brother has always been involved in sports but he was always too afraid he would get hurt. This medication has robbed my 10 yr old son from 6 yrs of his childhood. Since he has been off Singulair he feels motivated and looks forward to joining the football team his younger brother plays for. I look forward to meeting this new young man who for so long has been hiding behind this so called allergy medicine. I am so thankful to know that my son can look forward to a bright future without these side effects. God Bless you all who are going through this as well.

I am 27 and have 3 children. In March of 07 I had a laparoscopy to detect (and laser) endometriosis. At the time of the surgery, I had the Mirena implanted because 1, I needed birth control and 2, I was told it would stop the progress of the endo. This past 8 months has been anything but, fun. I've had cramping, spotting, bleeding, migraines, not to mention that my mood swings and emotional breakdowns have been so bad my husband can't deal with me and my Dr diagnosed me with bipolar 2 disorder and I really think it's all from the IUD. I've had depression before but, never, EVER this bad. I've called the Dr on several occasions and they always say something like, "one more month, everyone has such great luck, just try one more month". Tomorrow, I have an ultra sound to "check placement". I pray they just take this thing out once and for all.

I have been taking Yasmin for about a year now, and my boyfriend of 7 months has been telling me to go off it because it has made me EXTREMELY EMOTIONAL. I cry extremely easily, and it makes my body sensitive to the other medication i am taking (for example, when i miss the other medication). Has anybody had these symptoms of extreme emotional breakdowns while taking Yasmin?

I don't know if anybody who goes on this website has stopped taking yasmin, but I was wondering what the side effects are to stopping the medication, as well as what other birth control i should start taking? I'm scared that for some reason I will gain weight when I stop taking it. I will obviously ask my doctor but it is also helpful for others' opinions.

Thanks!
