I'm 52 yr old female with high blood pressure and asthma. About 4weeks ago had bronchitis with massive doses of prednisone. Around the end of the prednisone my doctor switched me from enalapril to lisinopril to better control my BP. Well after the Prednisone my knees felt better than they've felt in 3 years NO pain. I 1st started noticing the leg cramps when in bed at night. Now the cramps are 3 to 4 times a night waking me up. 3-4 days ago my knees started hurting again, to the point I have to brace my (R) knee even at rest. I can barely walk. So I decided to look at my medications as a source of my pain. Calling my MD on Monday. Switching back to Enalapril until then

I am a 46year old male who has been on Lisinopril and Enalapril for about
2years. I'm having extreme joint pain in my knees and fingers .I have been checked for RA but they found no signs of this.I want to get off this medicine.
Are there any alternative blood pressure medicines for diabetics. Right now
I feel like i'm 70 years old and would like to know if anyone has stop the drug
and if their systems subsided.

Am a 52yr male have had many situations from dizziness to impotence, loss of concentration and eye focus to include depression. I am on other medication and do not profess these conditions to be attributed to Enalapril just posting and will read other posts.
Regards and good health to all

Hello
For about 10 years I've been using an ACE inhibitor. First enalapril, but after I figured out I had dry eyes and feeling misserable, I was put on accupril (same group - also same group as lisinopril).
A year after starting the ACE inhibitor I was diagnosed with (severe) dry eyes.
Afer stopping with the ACE inhibitor for a while I felt somewhat better. I tried taking half of my normal dose. Next day I felt terrible; painfull eyes, not feeling good, dunno how to describe it better. I still am not sure though if it is the pills. It' snot like I take it and 2 seconds later I feel bad.
I would like to come in contact with people who dealt with the same probs. Please sent me a personal message if you like. Thank you :)

I was put on Verapamil 120mg after being taken off of Atenolol which I had been on for 5 years. I also took Lisinipril along with the Atenolol. I had a couple of rough months getting off the Atenolol as there are some side effects to doing that. I was put on th Verapamil along with Enalapril and Hydrochlorithiazide, didn't feel well. Off the Enalapril and Hydrochlorithiazide now and have increased the Verapamil to 180mg. I feel so tired but can't sleep, have no energy and my heartrate is still up there. Doctor wants to add Digoxin, will this help or make it worse. I felt better on the lower dose but it wasn't controlling the BP.
Thank you for your time and would appreciate any info.

I used Vasotec (Enalapril) for 3 weeks and then my face swelled and a rash appeared all over one side. It would not go away. I read that vasotec can cause this so I stopped taking it on my own and the swelling and rash disappeared. My doctor confirmed that this was caused by Vasotec.

I have been on Lisinopril 20 mg for one week and I feel awful. My head feels like it is going to explode, the headache just hits me and there is no letting up of it, I am also so fatigued. I tend to be sensitive to most drugs and I feel this is a reaction to this med. I also take CardizemCD 180 mg, for what ever reason the Lisinopril is doing me more harm that good. I will ask my doctor to put me back on Enalapril 20 mg, I had no side affects with that....I wonder why he changed my meds?

I was already on Cardizem and Enalapril and 2 mos. ago I went on Toprol 25 mg. which I take 1/2 of everyday. Now I am experiencing hearing problems as if I'm in a tunnel during the daytime until the med. wears off some at night. Is anyone else experiencing hearing problems from Toprol? I'm also experiencing shortness of breath, sleeplessness, and severe neck pain. I know 12.50 is a very small dose, but I feel these problems are a direct result of the Toprol.

In the evenings, my legs become exceedingly heavy feeling as I try to walk around the house or whatever. Also, I feel a hyperactive presence although my pulse and heartbeat don't necessarily rise. I also experience some angina. I am mainly concerned with the heaviness in my hamstrings and the body rush.
I am also on plavix, ace inhibitors (metoprolol), beta blockers (enalapril) and prevacid.
I had a heart attack July 5 and have been on this medication since then.
Thank you for a response.

I've been taking Lisinopril 20mg + 12.5mg HCTZ daily for 9 months with no cough or other respiratory symptoms. This is my only medication. About 5 weeks ago I was increased to 1 1/2 tabs a day (30 mg Lisinopril + 18.75 mg) to effectively control my boarderline blood pressure. It was only at this time I did have a respiratory infection and nasal congestion, with cough for 2 weeks, since that time the infection has cleared however, a nonproductive cough has persisted the past 4 weeks. This cough is not tolerable. I will be switching hypertension medication within the next couple weeks if the cough doses not go with the next couple weeks. When I laugh hard with my chest, I start coughing and feel very congested. It's not very pleasant in a social crowd. Meanwhile, yes my blood pressure is under control.

Pounding heart about 10 to 15 minutes after taking the pill, but only lasted a few minutes. However I had steady headaches, fatigue and dizziness. Also weird dreams. I was proscribed the 30mg. Switched back in Enalapril and am now doing much better.
