Enlargement symptoms and conditions

I've been on TOPROL-XL( 50 mg) for about 18 months now. Gained 25 lbs. Lack of interest (consistently) in getting much done. I had an aortic valve replacement 12 years ago and they were recently concerned about an enlargement of the aorta-so they wanted the Toprol to reduce the blood pressure further. Its keeping the pressure steady but not a huge decrease. When I discuss the side effects- they smile beningly. I'm having difficulty with digestive tract issues, also, which seem to be connected with weight gain. Other than fluuid retention- anybody know WHY this cuases weight gain? Anybody had any luck switching to other medications??

experienced ischemic bowel after on 25mg for 4 days reguired hospital stay of 6 days and IV. symptoms of abd cramping bloody stools and severe pain. Believe bp became too low to perfuse intestines. med was ordered to reduce load on aorta due to enlargement.

I originaly was prescribed verapamil (240gm) for HBP of 240/110. This did bring it down to 160/90 after a week or two, then I was prescribed initially 5mg and then 10 mg of lisinipril. I've been on these tablets now for four years.

Blood pressure now runs around 130/70.

I haven't attributed any problems to Lisinipril but I have gradually found I need to urinate very frequently, even having to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. Impotence is another problem, both of these difficulties my doctor put's down to being age related .(I'm 57) Recent prostate examination did not find enlargement and PSA test was negative.

I'm in otherwise wise excellent health, eating sensibly, 5'9" weighing 148 Lbs, exercising at gym 3 times a week, plus golf and walking.

I noted someone else attributed floaters in the eye being a side effect of this pill. I too experienced this in both eyes . Examination discovered both retinas had torn. I was immediatelly operated and thankfully operation was successful . Hospital did not associate Lisinipril with this condition.

Doctor has tried other tablets to help with urinary problem, nothing has worked so far.

I did not have any of these health problems until after I had started lisinipril and verapamil. I do not have evidence that either or both are the the cause .

If anyone knows of any proved association I'd love to know.

Took it for 30 days for prostate infection. Fixed it, but then like an idiot I took Nyquil for a cold/flu which caused enlargement of prostate and subsequently backwash of urine which infected prostate again. Then took Cipro for two weeks, then Flomax to shrink prostate for 1 month. Infection came back. Starting on Bactrim for another 30 days.
When taking Bactrim for first two weeks only had dry-mouth. When I refilled at different Walgreens (this one in Marietta, GA) I immediately got bad headaches. These only lasted a day or two, then back to dry mouth.
Please note: was taking sulfameth/trimethoprim, the GENERIC form of Bactrim.

I have been on Synthroid for about 10 years. I've been taking dosages between 5 mcg's to my current 137 mcg's. I had my thyroid removed 3.5 years ago, due to an enlargement. Fortuantely, it was not cancerous.The side effects I have noticed have included weight gain, depression, anxiety, dry skin, and lethargy. None of these have been extreme, and my thyroid panals (TSH, Free T4, and T3) all come back within normal range when checked.Because I was at the low end of 'normal' my Endo increased my doasge from 112mcg to 125mcg to my current 137mcg. It's stopped my weight gain, and since i've been working out regularly for years, the weight is finally starting to come off.

I am a young bipolar woman with one child. I am trying to get pregnant again. My doctor prescribed Seroquel as a "safe alternative" to other drugs. Much to my dismay...I have done some personal research on the drug and found that it increases the hormone prolactin which can cause breast tissue enlargement, and causes menstral problems (makes it so I don't ovulate) I am so pissed off! I have lost faith in my doctor, drugs, and my body. The only help this drug has had in getting pregnant again is making my stomach look pregnant! Major abdominal bloating!

breast soreness and enlargement

I have been taking Gabitril, 2mg/twice a day for 2 weeks for management of anxiety and possible bipolar. I am having heart palpitations, bilateral carotid palpitations, and a full feeling in my neck. Also, breast pain and enlargement and frequent chills. I believe it is helping to relieve the anxiety and irritability somewhat.
