I'm 25 and have never had great skin, but I've found that minocycline will clear up my acne right away. That is, it used to, until I started with lamictal. Even with the minocycline plus tazorac and an antibiotic cream, my skin is breaking out on my face, especially at the jawline and outside of my face. But the really weird thing is that my back and chest are breaking out. That has NEVER happened before and it's not the infamous rash.

Other things I've noticed: sensitivity to computer screens and TVs, probably because my vision is getting worse, but so I get headaches; brutal periods with extreme breast tenderness; slurred speech and short-term memory loss at first, but not any more; occasional feelings of just being "out of it;" a bit of weight gain and I've always been superthin, but even with diet and exercise am having trouble maintaining my weight. Oh, also the nausea mentioned above, in the mornings; it was so bad I thought I was pregnant.

I'm only on 75mg/day at night for mood stabilization, but mostly because I take wellbutrin and had a seizure on it last year, though I'm not epileptic. I've always been sensitive to medications, and I have to say I've felt extremely "stable" on lamictal, but almost too stable. It's been a bit disorienting and I've felt my creativity diminish (I'm a writer). When I first started the lamictal I had also started a new job. This was a really bad idea as I couldn't remember any of the things my boss was telling me and my speech was messed up; I even stuttered a bit, which was scary.

My doctor put me on Topamax for migraines, but I can not handle the effects. I just started the 75 mg dose just as I was moving into a new college apartment with new roommates, and I felt like I was going crazy! I couldn't eat anything without feeling completely ill, I was spacing out, and I couldn't remember words.. for three whole days I couldn't remember the word 'tapestry.' I finally had to look it up in the dictionary.. not a good sign for a college student. The worst, though, was the overwhelming sense of panic that was getting worse by the day. I was no longer myself! The last straw was a panic attack, complete with hypernentilating. I have never felt so scared in my life. I actually had to go the ER to get something to calm myself down.

So, I decided to stop taking it. My parents talked to my pharmacist, and she told them that Topamax IS the type of drug you can stop "cold turkey." But after a week, I feel almost as bad as I did when I was on the drug! I still can't eat anything. Also, I wake up hours before my alarm goes off, completely sick at my stomach. I feel panicky and nervous. I have several bouts of diarrhea and this morning I almost didn't make it. I share a bathroom with three (normal!) girls, and it is getting to be embarrasing and annoying. Please, can anyone tell me.. when do the side effects go away?? I want to be a normal 19 year old again!

I have been taking Topamax for approx. 8 months now - 50mg in the morning and 50mg in the evening. Was found to have a Cevernous Haemangeoma
on the front left temporal lobe which caused me to have Epileptic symptoms however never has full fits - just stroke like syptoms.

I have tried Epilim and all the other drugs. After taking Topmax i felt good for some time then the weight loss kicked in, some hair loss, pains in the right knee, tingling in the hands and under the feet. I could live with these however
i have been really battling of late with my urinary system. It is always as if i have a bladder infection, pain in the lower abdomen etc. Done scans etc. to check for stones - zero. Have decided to wean off Topamax and see if these
effects go away. The drug did wonders for my brain problem but the side effects have just gotten too much.

I'm on 50 mgs of Topamax, and it's really fuckin" me up man. Listen to this crrraaaazzzzzy ass story. My Mom took me to MCV (Virginia's State funded Hospital) on Monday, August 28th to pick up my seizure medicine and she dropped me off in front of the Gateway building and told me to go in and wait for her while she went and parked the car. No big deal. Nothing I couldn't handle. I've done this before I started the Topamax. Yeah, right........Well, I went in and sat down for a minute then got up (before she got there), crossed the street over to the pharmacy and got my meds. Crazy thing too was I got on the elevator and went up to the 3rd floor, thinking that I was supposed to meet mom up there. After I started walking down the hall I finally realized I was supposed to have waited for mom in the Gateway building before got my meds. So I got back on the elevator and went back down to the pharmacy and back over to the Gateway building and found her. I thought she was gonna be mad, but she wasn't. Anyway, on the way out of the Gateway building I almost walked out in front of a moving ambulance.
I am like a walking zombie. I have been on Lamictal (anti-epileptic) but the Neurologist is slowly building me up on the Topamax, another anti-epileptic, so that I can quit the Lamictal altogether cuz she's worried about a rash I have developed. Lamictal is known to cause life threatening rashes. She doesn't want me to quit the Lamictal until the Topamax is completely at 200mgs in my system for fear I would have a seizure. So for the time being I will be a zombie without an appetite. I barely eat anything. I'm always thirsty though. And driving.......HA! Forget that! I don't even WANT to try it. I might kill myself or someone else and/or end up lost somewhere. Wouldn't that be a bitch!
I'm willing to see this thing through though. I'm tough and think I can handle it.

I am a paediatrician in private practice. I recently put an 8yr old boy with moderte to severe asthma on singulair. He is also epileptic and is on lamictin. After starting the singulair he experienced intense headaches, dizziness and blurred vision.
The headches were associated with vomiting. I have subsequently stopped the singulair but was really surprised by these side effects. Could it be related to his epilepsy? I have been using singulair for many years but this is the first case that I have seen with these side effects.
