This note is regarding some measures for healing and pain relief. I have been in pain due to taking Levaquin three months ago. My pain is widespread. I have peripheral neuropathy. My whole body is tender and sensitive. All of my joints ache. It's hard to walk or sit for long. My pain is still disabling but it has improved. I thought that I would share with whoever may be interested what has helped my pain the most. I see a chiropractor every week and I also see a Chinese doctor every week. The Chinese doctor does therapeutic massage (deep tissue) and he also does acupuncture weekly. The acupuncture doesn't hurt as much as you might think. Other things that I've found that are helpful are warm Epsom salt baths and any topical cream that warms the area such as zostrix. Creams for muscle soreness may work also. I try not to take pain medication because it can just lead to other problems . If I have to take something I take either excedrin or Tylenol. NOT ibuprofen. Also, the body can't heal as quickly if it is being bombarded with offending agents. Therefore I have eliminated the following: Sodas (regular and diet), nutrisweet, msg (read the label), bleached flour, caffeine and many other things. I try to avoid sugar and I use stevia as much as possible. I have done a lot of research regarding nutrition since this happened to me. What I have come to realize is that good foods are like medicine. I have to supply my body with the proper nutrients and it will heal itself. Lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts, lean meat (I don't eat red meat). I avoid fast food and processed foods. The rule of thumb is that if nature made it it's good for you. If man made it...read the label very carefully. I hope that this info will be helpful to some of you. My prayers are with you all.

I was taking Danazol for 20years in alow dose for pressitant breast pain. I gradually began to suffer from muscle pains for no apparent reason. My doctor immediately stopped the Danazol, although wouldn't admit they were causing the problem. I ''fell apart at the seams''. None of my muscles worked properly, I had extremely high blood pressure, could barely walk, I was in constant pain and had to have massage for 2 hours per day. My eyes ached, I couldn't control my bladder and bowels very well. I thought I was going to die. My doctor sent me for numerous blood tests, endoscopes etc. But said I was depressed. I was depressed, because I felt so ill !
Its now 4 years since I stopped Danazol and I feel it has caused long term damage to my muscles. I have tried everything from massage to supplements. Things have improved a great deal, but I find it difficult to exercise as I tire very easily and particularly my back muscles seize up even after sitting for any length of time.
Has anyone else been on a low dose of Danazol for this length time. Have you suffered?

They think that I have either crohns or ulcerative colitis. I have tried antibiotics, lialda, mesalamine enemas, with no improvement. After another colonoscopy they put me on prednisone at 40mgs, 30, 20, 10, then 5 decreasing weekly. Well the first week was okay. I had some of the side affects, insomnia, extreme hunger, and crazy. I could deal with that. But then when I decreased down to 30mg, my body flipped. I awoke from the middle of the night with burning pain in the knees. So bad I took 4 ibuprofen and threw myself in the tub with epsom salt. I thought okay that was weird because I have never had a joint pain in my life. I saw the gastroenterologist that day bc I was still having abdominal pain. He totally blew off the knee pain and said he had no idea what that was. I thought okay maybe it will go away. A few days went by and nothing. 3 days later and I awoke one morning crying in pain because of my legs. I called the on call doctor who also said he had no idea and go to the er. So I went crying hysterically for 4 hours. Even after 3 rounds of dilaudid I was still in pain. They suggested a Rheumatologist. So I went to one a week later who said I was going through steroid withdrawals. And there is nothing we can do but treat the symptoms of pain. I am now down to 10mgs have been out of work for 2 weeks and am absolutely miserable with severe leg pain, muscle weakness and fatigue. He also adjusted the drop down increments to 5 instead of 10. Anyway I will never take this drug again and I think they rushed to this one. Just wanted to share. I am glad I found this website because I went from a fully functioning physically fit 28 year old to a crippled crying crazy person. I think I was scaring my husband, honestly, until we both read some of your postings which were similar.
